Thank you to Carl for the exceptional welcome and service during our recent breakfast visit. On a Wednesday morning, our party of four was seated promptly and enjoyed perusing the ample options on the menu. This adorable restaurant had such a cozy, small town vibe, but with such a wide range of menu options from basic to refined. We were seated near the kitchen and Carl helped guide us through options, particularly one of the specials which we adored: Double Bacon Parmesan Hash -- so many layers of flavor, enticing and balanced. The waffles and pancakes were a highlight for the kids, my smoked salmon eggs Benedict was decent. For drinks, I appreciated the coffee refills to keep us warm that chilly morning and the kids loved the Tangerine Dream drink with tummy cream foam on top, while the adults tried out the Cinnamon Toast Drink, garnished with a cinnamon stick. Definitely would visit First Watch again! Although we realized it's a chain here, it definitely had small business vibes and did a great job with the food, service, and a lovely environment. I went to First Watch for the first time earlier this month and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The restaurant is a chain that is common, but that may be for good reason. I had the pumpkin pancake with chicken sausage and eggs. I was nervous that the chicken sausage wouldn't be as good as pork but it didn't disappoint. It was great! The eggs I got were a little small. More like 1.5 eggs than 2. But overall the dish was terrific read more

First things first, I love first watch! But this location on Capital their service is horrible. I understand it was Mothers Day an I patiently waited. The manager was so rude about seating. Then, our server never acknowledged us. She came to our table, didn't give her name or greet us. We sat at our table for 15 minutes before anyone came over. Tables that were sat after us were served before us. I've never experienced a service like this at first watch. Tables that were sat AFTER us received their food BEFORE US...I am utterly disgusted. With a new First Watch slated to open here in Massachusetts, when we saw there was a first watch near the hotel we were staying at in Raleigh we decided to check it out one day for lunch. The vibe in the restaurant has sort of a farmhouse sort of feel to it and the staff that waited on our table was very attentive and friendly. We started with an order of the Million Dollar Bacon for the table which was cooked nicely and had the perfect balance of sweet and a little bit of heat mixed together. For my meal I opened for the turkey sausage gravy and biscuits with over-easy eggs and home fries. The sausage gravy was flavorful but a bit lighter than others that I had had. The turkey sausage did, however, make it a little less greasy feeling which wasn't a bad thing. The biscuits were okay; nothing wrong with them but just nothing to write home about. The others at the table all went with other breakfast options, as well, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Once First Watch is here in Massachusetts wouldn't be opposed to checking it out again and trying some of their other menu items. read more

Visited them last two saturdays. Service very good, staff friendly and professional. Music a bit too loud but no problem with my earbuds. Had the Trifecta both times. Excellent the first time as the eggs over-medium perfect; bacon just crispy with hot coffee, ice cold water, and friendly staff. This past Saturday was a different story. Must be a different cook as the eggs were too runny, even more than an over-easy should be. Ham was dry. After coming to this first watch for many years, the service and food have gone downhill. While the server Ashley was sweet, she was not good at her job. Not only did we wait 20 minutes for the opportunity to order a coffee when said coffee came it was disgusting. Our food came out burnt and inedible. She never came and checked on us so we didn't have the opportunity to tell her that it was inedible. We left with three full plates of food on the table and not even then did she ask if our food was good. You lost long time returning costumers. read more

Now, I must say the metal along the bottom part of the walls are a turn off. It makes it look weird. Myyyyyy Lawwwwd......it was perfect! My mouth was singing praises at the first bite.the biscuit was buttery, soft, flaky and just down right delicious. I kept eating til there was no more. The eggs...ehhh! I ordered scrambled hard with black pepper and cheddar cheese. It lacked the black pepper. But there's a black pepper grinder on the table. It did the job....I guess. The other dishes were talked about also! My Mom loved the pickled onions paired with the avocado and crab meat. Everything about this place is wonderful. The decor is clean and welcoming. The waitstaff were all efficient and pleasant. But the food! The food was sooo good. The menu made it hard to choose, but we were delighted by our choices. They tout "farm fresh" and they weren't kidding. We traveled throughout the area and when we found ourselves in another part of Raleigh and came across another of this franchise, we were just as satisfied for all the same reasons. First visit to this location. Arrived a little after 11 am on a weekday. Minimal wait to be seated. The menu includes breakfast and lunch specialty items. After checking out lots of menu choices I went with the roast beef sandwich and substituted grits for my side. After a short wait, my meal was brought to the table. The grits were good. I'm not sure where to start. I eat at the first watch on Glenwood all the time and have not had any problems! This was the worst experience I've ever had at a first watch. It took about 25 minutes for us to get our food, which is very abnormal. When we did get our food as you can see from my picture, it was insufficient. A half piece of toast and one egg for $12 doesn't suffice. Not to mention the waiter dumped a whole glass of water on my daughter and barely apologized. He did bring extra eggs because of my complaint but we had already finished eating. My daughter's pancake was cold as was her eggs. I would've thought the waiter would've offered some kind of concession because he dumped the water all over my daughter, but he did not. I have been hearing great reviews about this restaurant so I decided to try it today. There is an option to join the waiting list through the Yelp app to save time. I did not use this feature so we had to wait for about ten minutes to get a table on a Saturday afternoon. Once we were seated our server, Autumn, came by a short time later. The restaurant is decorated with colorful modern decor and has tables and booth to sit in. I ordered the smoked salmon & roasted vegetable frittata. The frittata is typically served with a salad and cibatta toast but I substituted the salad and bread and got the potatoes with gluten free toast. I also ordered a side of bacon. I was brought over a side of regular bacon but I wanted to try the signature million dollar bacon that i had heard so much about. A new order of bacon was brought out quickly. The bacon was good but basic okay just tasted like bacon with syrup on it. We didn't taste the brown sugar, pepper or the cayenne. The frittata was combination was great and the chive cream drizzle meshed perfectly with the flavors. The salmon was fresh and the potatoes were good but a few of them were not cooked completely. My friend got the traditional breakfast with is sever with eggs, toast, toast, and they got ham as their meat. Our server was friendly and answered all of our questions. She was also very attentive. Farmhouse skillet with a side of bacon- another tasty scramble served with freshly fruit and some delicious soft yet perfectly toasted bread! Had an excellent first visit here last week with my family. We had a party of 7 and were seated promptly on a Monday morning around 11. Our waitress was great and had a trainee with her. The food came out "freaky fast" and most everyone really enjoyed their dishes. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich and tomato soup he was only moderately pleased with them. I had the Sweet Honey Pecan Chicken salad and boy was it delicious. The only hang up was that the salad had toooo much dressing. Next time I might ask for it on the side. My little one has the French toast and bacon. Both were super tasty. Yes, Mama tried. My sister has the chimichanga omelette and my dad had one with crab I think. They both really enjoyed. I can't recall what the other two dishes were but their plates were clean! The blackberry sangria was also disappointing. Not sweet enough for my liking. This place is a gem! I'm not sure where to begin with my review. So I'm going to list all the pros about this wonderful establishment. 1. The decor is very simple and attractive on the inside. It gives me a "farmhouse" feel. Water is served in mason jar type mugs. There are picnic style type tables for larger parties. 2. The menu is well versed. From calorie friendly options to vegan options, the food is good quality (i.e. cage free eggs, whole grain, etc.) 3. The food is vibrant and colorful and every plate I eyed being served looked very good. 4. The service was wonderful and timeframe for waiting/ordering was great. 5. Bathrooms were clean. My only con is a BIG con for me. I am a foodie who loves fresh, hot, food. This may not bother some but for me, it's unfortunate because everything else is absolutely well put together so having HOT food served to you, would tie it all together, perfectly. This is my first time at First Watch, but it definitely won't be my last. I started with orange juice that I believe was made on-site with fresh oranges. The coffee, from Project Sunrise Huila, Colombia had no bitter aftertaste and co turn me from a caffeine teetotaler, to a daily drinker. Best coffee I've ever had without cream or sugar. I got the AM Superfoods Bowl. I was hesitant about coconut milk chia seed pudding. I don't drink coconut milk, rarely have a chia seed smoothie and don't like pudding very much. This however, I would buy every time I eat here. It's a fantastic dessert to my mind. There's fresh fruit, blackberry preserves and granola on top of a heavenly mixture that tastes like it was made from a cloud. It's served with almond butter toast on thick soft bread. I can't wait to come again. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. When we came there were several charming children in a casual diner level noise level. I've gone to First Watch the past two Saturday's for their Avocado Toast!! Last week I went and ordered very easily on the website for takeout, but today there was open outdoor seating, so my friend and I decided to eat outside. The Avocado Toast comes with 2 eggs, prepared however you prefer. I always order a side of bacon to crumble on my toast and oh my stars is it amazing. I also ordered their Morning Meditation drink, which is absolutely delicious. The Kale Tonic is also delicious. The service is great wether you get takeout or dine there, in or out! I loved the sandwich that chose - very good flavor. The wedding soup was very good. My friend loved the soup as well, but she had some very spicy elements in her salad that she didn't care for.
