Returned because who can resist the pancakes at First Watch...not me! One rude manager is not going to rain on my parade. Plus our server was amazing! Her energy alone had me proud I gave this place another chance. The general manager also greeted our table along with many others. The true Texan hospitality filled the room. Of course I had coffee and thy kept them coming! I hope to be back soon. Happy Yelping!

Ordered the French toast with a side of turkey sausage along with a mimosa. All were so good!! The staff were all very friendly and the service was fast!

Very very very very very thin slices of the good stuff: the toppings. Cheap.

This experience was disappointing. The space is nice enough and more voluminous than Webster location. My server was nice enough but she did not know anything. Like she had started working there today. Every question I asked required a trip somewhere to consult someone. They were pretty easy question: Do you have thousand island dressing? (BTW they do not). Is the ranch dressing made on site? (The answer is no and it's not great commercial dressing). The service at the Webster location is terrible too so maybe they need to implement some proper training systems. The food: I ordered a half sandwich and Cobb salad. I started with a Bloody Mary and typically it's good. The bacon was as limp as a spaghetti noodle and the carafe was room temperature. The food came and the ham and Gruyère melt was truly unremarkable. The Gruyère had no personality, the brioche bread was under-grilled. The salad was a mass of spring mix. The toppings were all sliced so thin as to maximize coverage. It's a stingy Cobb salad that has *at most* 1/4 of an avocado, 1/3 of a boiled egg and less than a tablespoon of chopped tomato. This restaurant has rampant food waste... you can see when the tables are bussed that they throw away mountains of food. So why then is my Cobb salad so sad? All this cost $24 before tip. I don't see myself going back to this location.

The food was very good it came pretty quick and all correct. The server was really nice and attentive, there was a slight wait but that's normal. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, overall good experience definitely will continue coming!

I went for breakfast last Sunday and had a great experience. Even though it was busy we were able to get seated quickly and we also received our food and drinks in a timely manner. The service was amazing and the food was so tasty!

The Trailblazer Bowl (Seasonal)

It's been a few years since we tried this location, and despite the negative experience the first time, felt it was time to check-in and see if there has been an improvement. So glad we did. It certainly was a better experience this time around. Staff was friendly, food was served in a reasonable time, hot and tasty. I decided to go with a seasonal dish and ordered The TRAILBLAZER BOWL (Hand-pulled roasted turkey, house-roasted sweet potatoes, cage-free scrambled eggs, lemon tahini arugula, fresh avocado with superseed crunch and fresh herbs). If you like breakfast hashes/bowls, this was a good one. I have tried many takes on this type of breakfast bowls, but never had one with roasted turkey so I was not sure if I would like it - well, I loved it! If you like breakfast hashes, and you like these particular ingredients, it is worth a try; you too might find a new favorite. Oh, can't leave off the coffee, it was hot and strong, just like I like it.

Trifecta Millionaire bacon Biscuits and gravy!

My mom and I are huge breakfast fans and we love first watch! The location is close by to us so we try to make it here when we can. Weekends are usually crowded but with great food and service it's worth the wait. We went today and our server Stephen. M greeted us at the door and sat us immediately. I ordered the biscuit and gravy and my mom got the trifecta. The millionaire bacon is awesome and compliments the meal nicely. Food was great and came out at a reasonable time. Stephen was awesome ! Consistently checked up on us and made sure we were accommodated too the entirety of our visit. Can't wait to come again!

I go here weekly for breakfast. I get the farm skillet with no eggs and cheese to make it vegan. It's really good.

She was awesome. Everyone loved their food. I had the Big Breakfast again and had the same banana pecan pancakes I ordered during my last visit but this time I got jalapeno bacon as my protein and hashbrowns instead of grits. The bacon was SO GOOD and was full of jalapeno flavor but minus the spice. I could've eaten a couple more slices of that goodness. It was crispy, a tad bit burnt but again it was so good. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy. I also made sure to get plenty of strawberry butter this time and I slathered it all over my pancake and biscuit. The kiddos had child's plates that included two mini pancakes, eggs and a choice of protein. My cousin had a hash that looked incredible and she said it was very tasty. I'll have to try it out one day if I can ever break myself away from the pancakes. Just like last time the amibiance was warm, cozy, family friendly and Christian themed. This just might be my fave breakfast spot. I absolutely love it.

Crispy roasted potatoes on the side were well-seasoned and the fruit cup was fresh. Let me preface this review by stating that I have been to this establishment multiple times & had…read moreglowing, amazing service each time. However, my last experience with this establishment left a horrible taste in my mouth. Therefore, I am giving them an extra star for the previous experiences. On May 17th, 2026, my best friend and I had been looking forward to coming to Water Oak all day and had our taste buds set for the occasion. We were famished and had quite a day up until arriving. Upon entering the restaurant, we were very briefly greeted by the a Hispanic man who I assume is the manager and told that they were "no longer seating for the day". I glanced around and saw that every table inside WAS seated, however there were many tables outside that were empty. I asked about the patio stating that us where we preferred to sit anyway, and was met with that they were also not seating the patio at all for the rest of the day. However, there was a group of 3 women seated outside on the patio at that exact time. I didn't say anything, simply turned and left. After having "one of those days" hashing out something so minute with a person who clearly didn't want us in their place of business was not something I was about to do. Keep in mind, we came on a Sunday afternoon. Prime brunch time. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:30PM, and their website says they don't close until 4PM. I am a biracial black woman and my friend is white. I noticed a significant amount of White and Latino patrons, but a shocking lack of Black people. With Houston having one of the most diverse populations in the US, it is almost impossible not to see at least one individual of each ethnicity in a place at any given time. I am definitely not one that likes to pull the race card, because oftentimes that is not the issue. However, as someone who is familiar with the service industry I understand Sundays can be extremely overwhelming. And I am cognizant that not everything is that serious. But, I am also aware that a lot of people in the industry discriminate against people of color, with stigmas that we don't leave enough gratuity or we "don't fit the vibe of their establishment". And those 3 women seated on the patio? All White. After reading recent reviews, it seems that management is discriminating against people of color, more specifically Black folks. This is an extremely disheartening and sickening realization to make, seeing as I have given well over $1,000 worth of my money here but also enjoyed many meals without issue. To management: It breaks my heart to have to write this review and to be honest, I wouldn't have written it if I hadn't seen others posting about similar experiences in addition to also feeling discriminated against. I highly suggest that if you are "not seating" after a specific time, you announce this via social media or alert potential patrons with a sign or something of the sort. & obviously, there is such an issue with treatment towards POC that it is a noteworthy problem via your Google & Yelp reviews. You will have a much bigger fish to fry on your hands if you continue to let this issue go on unrectified. I would be willing to return if I felt things were to be changed for the better in the future! Hopefully this review sparks a much needed conversation and brings attention to an area which needs work.

Personally I thought the waygood latte was better and had the right amount of flavor with the hints of vanilla and caramal flavors. The toffee tasted more plain in comparison. I've also tried the dragonfruit refresher (targaryen) at their other location and it hit the spot on a hot summer day. It's a little out of the way for me but I would definitely return.
