I've been wanting to try Red Oak Cafe for a while. I love their back story and Christian theme. My friend & fellow elite and I arrived on a Saturday around 11AM and didn't have to wait for a table. I had the Big Breakfast which includes 2 pancakes. They have so many different mix-ins for their pancakes, anyone's bound to find their perfect mix-in combo. I think I found mine with the banana pecan mix-ins and sides of strawberry butter. The pancakes are huge. I ended up taking one home. The bananas weren't too sweet and had the perfect amount of ripeness for the pancakes. I ended up getting 2 sides of strawberry butter but could've easily eaten like four of the small . The biscuit with the big breakfast was fluffy and delicious especially with the yummy strawberry butter. The eggs over medium were cooked perfectly. The cheddar jalapeno grits were a little bland but did the trick. I tried my pal's hash browns and they were perfectly seasoned and thoroughly cooked but not crispy. The hash browns are definitely the better option over the grits. The bacon was delicious and perfectly crispy. I asked the waiter for crispy but not burnt bacon and he got it just right. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The waiter was super personable and helpful. I felt like I was at breakfast Disneyland. I was able to get anything I wanted with no problem and with the kindest most helpful attitude from the waiter. I look forward to returning! read more

Came here with my wonderful Pearland Yelper for a breakfast. Both of us for the first time. Parking - easy, shared lot. Walked in without a resy, and was seated. The place gets busy during peak times, understandably. It's breakfast all day, definitely family oriented with a spirtual leaning of Bible quotes and crosses, and great for big groups. But don't worry to those that are not religious, the message is not overt, all seem to be welcome. Food- My friend got the Big Breakfast $14.95, with the fixings on her pancakes of bananas $1.95 & pecans $.95, strawberry butter $.95 ×2. I got the big breakfast $14.95. I added the jalapeño chedder toast- that was so good my favorite bite of the meal, would recommend. Our total was $38.70, which I was impressed with, cost wise. Pancakes were large & good. Service - our server Tony J definitely had experience and it showed. He was great. Walked us through all our options. Checked on us just enough. When I knew we were coming to League City for two weeks, I started my Yelp restaurant investigation. Red Oak Cafe is a restaurant we hadn't visited before and it's super close to my sister's house. Today was the day. First, the ambiance. The restaurant is clean and has some cute touches including the lighting fixtures and some iron work here and there. The tables and chairs are not fancy. The walls are nearly empty with the exception of the oak tree and biblical verse that covers most of one wall. It's just a little plain overall. Our server was very nice and helpful. The time it took for our breakfast to arrive was just about right. It was clear our meals were prepared after our order hit the kitchen. I had the Guacamole Toast - house-made guacamole, tomatoes and sprouts atop thick-sliced wheat toast. It had a bit of a kick and a lemony flavor. It was quite tasty. It came with hash browns, which were surprisingly delicious. They weren't extra crispy, which I like. Rather, they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Sometimes hash browns can be a throwaway, but these were a wonderful accompaniment to the guacamole toast. I ordered a side of bacon - three pieces. They weren't super crispy, but they weren't limp. Once again, as with the hash browns, the bacon was cooked perfectly. It was actually a delight. Mark has the Hot Mess Bowl - two biscuits, two strips of bacon, two sausage patties, scrambled eggs and country gravy served with hash browns. Jalapeño gravy was an option and our server mentioned the meal could come with a half country and half jalapeño. Mark asked about the jalapeño gravy. She said it was very good so Mark opted for all jalapeño gravy. The meal was accidentally served with both gravies. Mark said having it would be fine. He cleaned his bowl so it was clear he enjoyed it. It was a LOT of food! Even mixed, the gravies were definitely spicy. While Mark loves spicy food, if he were to get this meal again he'd stick with just regular country gravy. The food and service were great. The ambiance was definitely lacking. I wavered between a three and four star review. Because food is ultimately the most important thing, I opted for four stars. If half stars were a thing, I'd give Red Oak Cafe 3.5 stars. read more

Customer service was good. The menu selection for breakfast was quite small. I was able to pick something different than a regular breakfast combo though so I was satisfied . I enjoyed my breakfast. I had the hash. It had good chipotle flavor without it being too spicy so my toddler was able to have some. I added scrambled eggs with cheese on top and they were not stingy with the cheese. I enjoyed the lemon blueberry pancake. We split 1 pancake between my husband and I with the toddler snagging a bite. I loved how you could taste the sweet cream as well as the lemon and blueberries. I would get it again. My husband had the breakfast quesadilla. It tasted as expected but he stated he didn't care for the salsa. It looked watered down so I didn't try it. Amazing breakfast... I had the biscuits and gravy plate... I requested my gravy on the side since I asked for the jalapeño gravy and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it... well I LOVED IT. The plate comes with eggs bacon and hash-brown... honestly 2 people can it from this plate since the portions are big. We also had a stack of pecan pancakes and they were delicious. This was by far one of the best places I've been in awhile for breakfast and at the price I paid for it let me tell you it was well worth it. The ambience of the place quaint and quiet, somewhat of a homely feel and still and quiet like library people are just concentrating on eating. Very different from any place I've been because the bathroom you can leave words of wisdom on sticky notes on the wall to give people I suppose for inspiration. So this location was not as great as the one in league city. Looks the same inside, same set up and a cozy feel. The food just was not the best. Everything seemed old. I got the quiche, the crust was separating from the egg portion. I got the jalapeño cheddar grits which were very watery. I also got a side of French toast and it just seemed like it was cooked way earlier and just sat. My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy and his biscuits were hard around the edges, the gravy had no flavor, the bacon was really hard and had a bad aftertaste and the eggs had a burnt grease taste to them. Our server was super sweet but didn't bring my boyfriends coffee that he ordered when we were greeted, we had to them remind her that he asked for coffee and then she brought him a different one then what he asked for and no cream or spin for him. He also just ordered a side of biscuits and gravy and she brought him the plate. I ordered the strawberry butter with my French toast and she forgot that too. Needless to say we won't be going back there. The mugs they serve their drinks in are cute and they serve Katz coffee so those are pluses! read more

I first learned about Red Oak Cafe from Texas Chronicles when the host highlighted their League City restaurant. When they opened up their Alvin location, I made it a point to check them out for some breakfast. They are open everyday except Monday for breakfast and lunch only. I brought my folks and my niece here on a random weekday and we were seated immediately. From what I've read, they do get packed on weekends. The owners opened up this restaurant in tribute to a child of theirs that passed away. There's nice, uplifting music being played along with spiritual quotes on the walls. Another thing they are known for is their "Love that Sticks" movement where they have sticky notes that you can write something nice and inspirational, and stick it on their walls. Just good vibes all around! The good vibes are also passed on through their wonderful, friendly staff as well. I'm a sucker for a good, hearty breakfast and they definitely do that here. They have a nice variety of things as well as a whole section of keto friendly items. From what I saw online, one of their big draws is their sweet cream pancakes that you can customize in a variety of ways. I saw the Big Breakfast which came with three eggs your way, hash browns or grits, biscuit or toast, a protein of choice, as well as two sweet cream pancakes. The description made it sound hearty, but seeing it in front of me was a whole other story. This meal was big. The pancakes alone took up a whole plate and could've easily fed two or more people. Everything was cooked as requested and tasted great. The pancakes were everything I hoped it would be. They were warm and fluffy and the sweet cream gave it a nice extra layer of flavor. Next time I will try some of their mix-ins and see if it levels it up at all. I washed it all down with delicious, fresh OJ and some of their freshly brewed Texas Hill Country Pecan coffee. My family and I loved this place and will definitely go out of our way to eat some of this delicious food again! read more

One of my favorite breakfast spots! Such a great family atmosphere, and everyone is so nice. The food is wonderful, and I highly recommend trying a cup of Texas Hill Country pecan coffee. While I was pregnant I would crave the Texas hash everyday. My favorite dish there. Sometimes my husband and I will just split the big breakfast together because it a Texas-sized breakfast. My husband and I seem to always have not so great experiences when dining out but this place was a very, very pleasant surprise. He found them randomly on Yelp so we took a chance. For two people during after church rush we waited about 30 minutes which is what they quoted us. Not a problem, we've waited longer at other places. We were sat, our server was really friendly. He orders the Hot Mess Bowl and I kept it simple with a 2 egg breakfast, sausage, Hashbrowns and toast. We split a waffle with whipped cream, strawberries and strawberry butter as well. Let me just say... we were so focused on how delicious everything was we did not get a single picture of what we ordered. Chefs kiss!! His Hot Mess bowl stopped him in his tracks. My eggs were cooked to perfection. The waffle?? Oh my goodness that strawberry butter!! Did I mention all of our food came out in 10 minutes?? We cannot wait to take everyone we know here.
