Hip breakfast spot with a young crowd . They offered a large creative menu . It's not a diner breakfast for sure. The " million dollar" bacon was good and definitely worth a try. I frequent First Watch often at the Wynnewood location so this is my first time at the Newtown Square location. I call my order in as I'm on my way to work. I order the Avocado Toast it comes with eggs. The lady on the phone says would you like cheese on your eggs? I said hmm sure. So I arrive to pickup my order and I'm handed my receipt and there's a charge for cheese for $1.69. Now usually cheese is like an additional.30 cent .50 at the most. I was a little taken aback. So I'm paying for my order she's asks me if I'd like to leave a tip...I tried to keep my composure but why wld I leave a tip on a Togo order. I told her they got their tip when they charged me $1.69 for that cheese I can hardly see or taste on these eggs ..That's ridiculous no more side offers for me.‍ read more

Despite that,our waitress was friendly and efficient. They call themselves The Daytime Cafe. Breakfast and lunch is all you'll find here - breakfast on one side of the menu, lunch on the other. I liked that they bring each table an individual pot of coffee and a nice carafe of water. The coffee was tasty. While there are creamers already on the table, none requires refrigeration. For the high end spot this place seeks to be, that is a flaw. They have wifi but its horrible. My lady picked her choice from the Spring Specials - the Croque Madame. Smoked ham,tomato, gruyere cheese, dijonnaise on grilled brioche bread topped with a bechamel sauce, two eggs,served sunny side up with herbs. I picked the Works Omlette - ham,bacon,sausage, onions, tomatos topped with mozarella and parmesan cheese. I opted for the potatoes instead of the salad. The food appeared quickly and portions were huge. My better half enjoyed hers very much. Mine was delivered with no sight of cheese - on top or inside. It was good otherwise. The bill came to $29 before tip- certainly on the higher end - considering there were no extras added. This is a top end chain restaurant as breakfast chains go. It is better than Waffle House( whose hash browns do rule), International House of Pancakes, Dennys - in terms of presenting higher end, upscale choices beyond the basics those other places offer. All of the food here is delicious (breakfast, brunch, lunch, specials, coffee, homemade drinks, etc.) which is unfortunate because I don't think I'll ever step foot in this restaurant again. The service was incredibly awful. My girlfriend and I were seated and given menus by the hostess. After we put our food and drink orders in, we were never waited on again. We knew what our meal orders were going to be so our food and drink orders went in at the same time at the beginning of the meal. Runners delivered our meals to the table. We got into an in-depth conversation so it took us a bit to realize that it had been nearly 30 minutes since anyone had waited on us/asked if we would like anything else. We were sitting there with empty water glasses, empty coffee cups, empty plates, and watched as no one continued to wait our table, which was strange because the table directly next to us was waited on regularly. We had first thought our waiter was off-shift or had to leave or something and just didn't mention it to us for some reason. Turns out that wasn't the case, as we saw him waiting other tables and giving us dirty glares as he walked right by us. I have never been made to feel more like I am not wanted at an establishment than when we were here at this particular occasion. I would be very wary about going to First Watch in Newtown Square, you may end up with a Sunday morning confrontation instead of the nice Sunday Brunch you were planning on. read more

7 of us went for breakfast on 8/20/23. And i don't know if it was the servers fault, or the kitchen. All the meals were not given to the group. 4 came out, then 5 plus minutes, 2 more came out, and my son's didn't come out for 15 minutes later. That was taken off our bill, but one plate was supposed to have potatoes and they got a salad, we had to ask our server multiple times for drinks we didn't get. A few minutes after we asked the host someone came to the table to say that our server was busy but she would take a drink order. We asked if she could just take our order and she said no. I'd like to consider myself a professional when it comes to brunches. You rarely would find me anywhere else on a Sunday morning. And as much as I wanted to like this place.. I honestly couldn't. 5/5 for atmosphere 5/5 for presentation 5/5 for service But 3/5 for the actual food I came here twice to be fair. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing the first time around. But the second time disappointed me as much as the first. The food itself is mediocre. Perhaps I'm just used to the standards I hold to Philadelphia brunches. The potatoes are like an awkward preteen. Not exactly crispy but also sorta mushy. As a HUGE fan of anything potato, I didn't know bad potatoes were a thing. It's just not a pleasant texture to be eating first thing in the morning. Other than the potatoes, the Parma hash I had was okay. Nothing special. The croquet madame was good, that is until I had a huge overwhelming taste of mustard. In a word- disappointing. I had heard good things about this place so my breakfast partner and I decided to give it a try. It was Saturday around 1030 and there is a kiosk in the waiting area but the person looked though me and I waited for a while before she acknowledged me. "Do you want to put your name on the list?" Maybe she thought I was waiting for the bus. Anyway, we waited about 15 minutes for a table. Fine. It's very loud and has that wood with metal industrial look. Coffee came and was ok for me. My dining partner found it bitter. My dining partner order their usual eggs Benedict with the ham. The ham was deli lunch meat, the hollandaise sauce was tasteless, and the bread beneath not toasted. The eggs were poached well. I got the typical breakfast of eggs, meat, potatoes, and toast. The eggs were ordered over medium and were barely cooked on the underside. The sausage links were just this side of cooked with little browning, and the toast, well, wasn't toasted. Not a fan of raw toast. Potatoes were tasty and crispy. Basically they were pushing to fill and empty tables with little consideration for quality. When paying the bill, my dining partner was asked how it was and he said the truth, not good, and reported the deli ham and so forth. The response was that must have been a mulligan. Why bother asking? The cashier then failed to provide us with a credit card receipt. Won't be back read more

Might have been a 1 star meal if not for the nice gentleman taking my order. The average to below average...the rest of the experience...mostly the food. First off...you say over easy egg on the sandwich, but I got a very over cooked fried egg with a hard dry yolk. Big knock. The "brioche" was ok, but a little bit stale on one side... The bacon was good, but two 8 inch strips laid in a cross with 2 inches hanging out of the bun in each of four directions...had to rebuild the sandwich to actually have the bacon IN the sandwich. The avocado smash was good. The lemon dressed arugula was a little overpowering on this sandwich...couldn't taste the egg or gruyere cheese over it...and the mayo - a whole lot of it - totally unnecessary. The home fries on the side had a ton of whatever seasoning they use. and were half under cooked and half burnt. Very salty and pretty spicy - sodium overload. I am not one to throw away home fries - these things made the bin after a few mouthfuls. Disappointing experience for a way overpriced 11$ breakfast sandwich...I will go back to my standard breakfast sandwich down the street which is a third of the price and less extravagant but better quality food. Now I need to go gargle something to get this over spiced bitter taste out of my mouth after eating this breakfast. Yuck. read more

We've been coming to First Watch, Newtown Square, when first opened. Also, we visit other nearby First Watch establishments. Today was sadly disappointing. When arriving, we were half greeted, no smile, no hi there, just walked up to us and stood there. I initiated the conversation letting the host/server know our party was 2 adults and one child with a high chair. She brought us to our table, and walked alway. My husband had to track down the high chair and walk half way across the restaurant to our table with it. After seated and food ordered, coffee poured (it's very weak coffee, almost resembling warm water with coffee flavor), we received the adult food entrees and not my child's plate. His food took another 3-4 minutes, and of course he's the one we'd like to feed first! Asked for more napkins, a few times, they never came.. had to track down another server for them. It was on the verge of a 'self serve' situation the entire meal. Drinks were never refilled, no additional water. My husbands poached eggs were overdone as well - so hard, he had to ask for a new order. We want to like this place, but can't when we're spending upwards of $45 on breakfast and can't even get decent service OR food. read more

We went to First Watch this past Saturday at around 10am. It was busy and there was about 20 minutes wait for a table, but there is complementary coffee in the waiting area and you can be notified of your table by text message if you prefer to wait outside. There is ample patio seating at this location, so wait times would likely have been shorter had the weather been nicer on this particular day. I ordered the Traditional Breakfast with bacon and scrambled eggs. The thick-cut whole grain toast was very good and the bacon was better than your average diner. The only part of the meal I did not particularly like was the potatoes. They were a little bit dry and bland, but otherwise, my breakfast was very good. My husband ordered the special Millionaire's Bacon with a Belgian waffle and he also enjoyed it very much. My preschooler son had the children's Fruit Crepes and he was very pleased. One crepe roll is filled with fresh fruit, covered in strawberry yogurt, and served with granola for sprinkling and thick-cut toast. He thoroughly enjoyed it. Apart from the potatoes, my only critique of our experience was that there always seemed to be empty tables, even while we were waiting in a pretty long line for a seat. I'm not sure if they were understaffed that day or what, but there were a few murmurings among the crowd about why these tables sat empty longer than it seemed like they needed to. My daughter and I came here for breakfast around 11 on a Saturday morning. Very busy inside but only a 15-20 min wait. Not bad. I added us to the wait list on the Yelp! app but our place in line didn't seem to be truly held, as people who came in and checked in verbally got seated first. It's possible I misunderstood, but the hostess expressed to someone else that we should have been seated already so I'm pretty sure I didn't. I appreciated the hostess being very observant and acting quickly to remedy this. My daughter spilled her iced tea and a friendly young man cleaned it up promptly and was very nice about it. I really liked my breakfast tacos. My daughter enjoyed her waffle, eggs and bacon. Our server, Samantha was great. Coffee was meh in taste but I dug the personal carafe with at least 3 cups inside. I took a star away because an employee plopped a dirty rag on our table after she wiped the table next to ours. She seemed to be giving it to the person who was finishing cleaning up the spilled iced tea, which I get, but it still rubbed me the wrong way. She apologized so that was a plus. Hopefully one of those silly mistakes and not an everyday thing there. I would definitely come back here because we had a nice experience overall and the food was good. read more

I ordered the power wrap and my boyfriend the biscuits and turkey sausage gravy with eggs. They sounded delightful on paper but my wrap was small, severely under-seasoned, and I couldn't tell that there was turkey in it until I dissected my wrap to find a few small cubes of them integrated into the egg white. Had a great experience I had their avocado toast which was just perfect. Really zingy--just perfect for a breakfast that left me full but not feeling gross. The toast comes with two eggs and I also got hollandaise sauce on the side. The sauce was tasty--a little runnier than I usually like it but I enjoyed the flavor of it. The coffee was meh. Didn't try anyone else's food but everyone was happy Went there to catch up with some girlfriends. We stayed for an hour and a half and felt at home, not rushed. Nobody wants to give a massive chain good reviews (especially one based in Florida with over 200 locations), but they have fresh squeezed orange juice, near perfect hollandaise, lemon caper dressed side salads... and effusive service. First Watch (or at least this location) exemplifies all the things that can go RIGHT with an economy of scale. Take particular note of the home-fries, which are not mushy, are evenly salted, and which did not see the inside of a deep fryer. Hate the company if you will, but don't lie about the breakfast. The recipes are solid, ingredients are high quality, and meals are reasonably priced. I noticed a few complaints about the lobster; no doubt it should be left off the menu. If you must eat a lobster, honor the poor thing. Eat it within ten miles of where the day boat docked and sold its catch. read more

So the million dollar bacon is heavenly. It's sweet, sticky and a little spicy. The strips and nice and thick and worth the price. I also love the cheese grits. Positive: delicious food, great service, and family friendly. I have been there many times and the food is consistently good. Negative: any time that I've been there, there's only one person working both the register and seating people. If you come at peak lunch time, the wait is prolonged because that person is overextended. I would think it would be worth having one extra person working one of those stations during the peak time to increase turnover. But I will say the host I usually see is always busting his butt and trying his best (but does look frazzled). Worth noting: I got the app thinking it would help with the wait. The app said no wait as we drove to the restaurant, yet when we got there, there were several groups ahead of us. Even as people continued to come in, the app never indicated a wait time. Perhaps the host (the poor overworked soul) isn't updating the list online? Either way, the app at this location doesn't appear to be worth it. Huge disappointment. First there were two water glasses on the table, our waitress never brought us any water. Which was problematic when we ran out of drinks.
