Love this First Watch location! Great service. Darla is the best waitress!!! She is so sweet and funny! Food comes so quick and is always delicious. Cures my hangover 10/10 times. read more

The food was outstanding! We will absolutely be back for the elevated egg sandwich and roast beef sandwich! Our experience was a little awkward because the waitress kept touching us - in a very friendly, warm way. But in a pandemic and 6 mos pregnant, it did feel unnecessary and uninvited. The restaurant took all kinds of safety precautions, which we appreciated, so all the touching felt out of place. We'll ask for a different waitress next time and enjoy the delicious food! read more

Woke up late Saturday afternoon, literally 30 minutes from closing. Wife and I came in and we were seated immediately, didn't feel rushed at all even tho by the time we ate it was closed for 15 minutes food was delicious and fresh. And the French toast was an absolute ten! read more

Best breakfast in Lawerence Yes it's a chain but menu consistency and good service make this a go to spot Prefer breakfast vs lunch entrees read more

Decided to check out first watch for the first time. Restaurant was not busy so we were greeted and sat immediately. I ordered the Barbacoa Benedict which is a new seasonal item. My daughter had the farmhouse skillet hash. The Benedict was fantastic! Eggs were perfect and everything complimented the dish and made sense why it was there. The portion size was excellent. The overall feel of the restaurant was welcoming even though the AC was up too high for my freezing teenage companion. Zero complaints. Will return to try the juices and the multigrain pancakes. read more

One of our favorite restaurants. First went to one in Phoenix and happy to find one when we moved here to Lawrence. The food is all delicious with many healthy options. The place to go for breakfast or lunch. Great coffee too. read more

If I ever decide to go to breakfast I go here. The wait never bothers me since I know what I'm waiting for is worth it. Three words: blueberry granola pancake. Seriously addicting. First watch has never failed to make me happy. read more

They always have great food sometimes there service is a loot left lacking but the food and coffee make up for it.

I love eggs, therefore I love brunch! I am so thankful Lawrence has some awesome brunch places in town. If you don't wanna wait for a hella hours at the Roost, come to first watch! The BLT Benedict is solid and the Belgian waffles are light and fluffy. But the money make is the Million Dollar bacon . Omgish. Drool. read more

I always love eating here but my husband is usually disappointed. The wait staff if friendly enough but overworked. The decor is great but the overall ambiance is is average. I would choose it for the food. read more

Visiting family and found this place on Yelp. Nice atmosphere and very good service. The food was a little pricy but very good. The pork carnitas omelette was great. I would eat here again. read more

We enjoyed our breakfast here; you can't really go wrong with the Farmhouse Hash, which is eggs over potatoes, bacon, avocado, tomato, and onion. I wish the avocados were a little riper and the omelette cooked slightly softer/ fluffier. My server was very good as well. read more

Excellent service, Phil and Donna in particular, tasty food and lots of news papers make First Watch one of the best breakfast places in town. Ok perhaps it's chain, IDK, but that's what we have in lawrence. read more

The food? In general it's a classic contemporary and lovely place that's always busy. Sausage links were a little funny, but besides that just check your water glasses ah. read more

First Watch - Weird particles in water - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Lawrence, Kansas

I love First Watch for breakfast! Ive gone a couple times and the wait is doable. I learned you can check in through their app and see how long the wait time is. You can even add your name to the wait list and just show up ~10 minutes prior. Service is always outstanding - everyone is very nice. I always get the farmhouse skillet and it is delish! It comes with their toast and jam as well. If your an OJ person, the OJ is definitely recommended. When paying they have $2 off from pocket point or $2 off survey at the register which take ~5 mins. Hey who doesn't love $2 off their check! I would recommend first watch for breakfast, I always take my visiting relatives here. read more

First Watch was the first place I went to breakfast when I toured KU. Since then it is always a solid place to go back to. Somehow they always have perfectly ripe avocados to go with each meal. I have tried the Scram-bowls, eggs benedict, and lemon recotta pancakes. I always feel full and satisfied with my serving and the quality of food. The service is also always wonderful and starts when you walk in the door until you leave. They have remodeled on the inside. read more

Fantastic food and service as always. I really appreciate the ability to check in online and not have to wait very long once you're there.

I have to be in the mood for breakfast food and I'm quite particular about my omelettes. I was highly impressed with the egg white omelette here, which surprised me because they don't have jalapeños to add to omelettes, which is a problem for me because I usually have to have jalapeños and pick with eggs. But they did have green chiles that were a nice substitute for an extra charge. The breakfast potatoes are good too. My only issue is that we called and they told us they had no wait. We got there in a few minutes and there was a long wait. Quite a contradiction to what we were told on the phone. It's like they falsified the wait time to force us to give them our business. Another issue is, this place is primarily a breakfast restaurant. In this case, the quality and selections of their coffee need to be top notch. The coffee is mediocre at best. read more

This is a nice, clean restaurant with a rustic feel. They have options for everyone. Even my picky husband found options. read more

I go here pretty frequently and normally have a pretty good experience. The overall food is good and the service is typically great! I went this morning and the service was not how it usually is. The lady who greeted us asked if we had been helped yet in a very annoyed tone. Then, our server never checked on us and the first and only time she came to our table was to take our order immediately. I was pretty disappointed with the service I experienced today. read more

The service was exceptional :) Our waiter was very prompt and helped with finding what to order since I am very picky. The food was delicious, little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Big portions, and no complaints on the taste... Very good. Just moving from CO, I needed to find a new brunch spot! So happy I tried First Watch! read more

First Watch - YUMMY! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Lawrence, Kansas

Simple food, which is meant as a compliment. They don't overdue anything. The flavor is subtle, which is hard to do with breakfast food. So much of it is good, but way too rich. Not this place- go and taste for yourself. read more

We were seated 15 minutes before someone took our order. It was not that busy and they had adequate staff. Others that arrived well after us were receiving their orders as we waited for ours. After another 30 minutes our waiter told us they had issues with the printer and were making our order now. Everyone around us were getting their food except us. We waited another 15 minutes with no food when we told our waiter to cancel our order and left. read more

This place has very interesting menu items that are always on point. Go early if don't want to wait in line as it is very popular also. Everything I have tried is very flavorful and good portion size. If you are not into the free range, organic craze you will still be impressed while doing the environment good! Also there is very cool decor if you are into that sort of thing as well. I highly recommend this place. read more

Pretty good food- Turkey sausage in the gravy was a notable change but still good. Wish they had more of a crape selection.

There is an African-American manager that works there. I have been going there for over a decade. There was free coffee sitting out and I asked if I could get a free coffee. He came off as very abrasive and told me like I was an employee that I could sit down at a table and he could order me a coffee. It was very rude and racist of him to say something like that to me after I had been a client for over a decade eating there. Absolute poor management and discriminatory things were said to me and I felt He was very unapologetic when I told him that what he said was in since year and so then he blocked my number. Good luck having business in the future for a racist manager. read more

Let's see, if you have some friends in town, and are looking for a place that has food for everyone, this is it. Don't worry about there not being something for everyone on the menu, its there. Don't worry about any of the food being too "challenging" or too spicy "it wont be. If you're looking for something that is flavorful, unique, and outstadning...head somewhere else. First Watch isn't necessarily bad, it's just not special. It is there and does in a pinch. On a positive note, the service was phenomenally fast! read more

Usually about a 30 minute wait on Saturday/Sunday peak hours. They are great about getting people seated quickly. Service is great! Food is very fresh and flavorful. Big menu with lots of classics as well as unique options. I recommend the Breakfast Scramble with the hollandaise sauce- very good! Omelets are also great! Coffee and Water carafes are left on the table which is great for my family and I since we drink about 100 cups of coffee each. Defiantly a place I stop every time I am visiting Lawrence and I highly recommend! read more

I've been here 3-4 times now and each time other than the first it hasn't been my decision or choice. For that reason I'm less than enthusiastic. The food and service is just OK, sometimes sub-par on the food. The coffee is truck-stop grade and to top it all off, they're really proud of their prices. The decor is drab strip-mall design at its finest. The bar for breakfast in Lawrence is as low right now as its ever been in the past 30 years and First Watch is right in the mix of it all competing for mediocrity. Where are you o Paradise Cafe? Those of us that remember will never be the same. Yesterday's breakfast, $5+ for a small bowl of oatmeal with a few dried cranberries and maybe a fourth of a banana. Side English muffin. It was just OK, wasn't really warmed to proper temperature. Wife had a hash dish ($9+) with plenty of potatoes that carried the flavoring of too many other things cooked in that same oil or pan or possibly a grill not properly cleaned. Unpleasant lingering taste. Probably the best thing going is the pot of coffee they bring to the table which saves them a lot of service grief. $ $20 before tip for the two of us. Still, some people seem to dig it as the restaurant was half full at 9:30 a.m. so what do I know? I just know it's not anything special. Going out to breakfast for me is sort of a luxury because I put in most of my (self-employed) work during that time of day. There's nothing special going on here. read more

I ended up eating here for a lunch business meeting and it was perfect for that. It was quiet and we were able to sit at a large table out of the way. Service was attentive, and the menu was large. I ordered the BLT with Egg, but substituted the Egg for Avocado. It was alright. It came with fruit and some potatoes that weren't so good. Someone else in our party had the burger, which was dry and flavorless. The salads were HUGE and the omelet looked okay. Overall, maybe a good place for breakfast, coffee, tea and a meeting, but not so much for a fantastic meal. read more

I'd been to a First Watch in St. Louis before and had an okay experience there, so either my standards have changed or the one in Lawrence is just worse. There are some bonuses to First Watch. It has a large interior (kind of reminiscent of a Denney's though...old school chain restaurant with high-chair tables stacked everywhere for kiddies) and caters well to groups. When you order a cup of coffee they give you a whole pot (for us caffeine-addicted souls out there), and it's really not bad coffee. Service here was friendly and expedient, though they did seem to want to usher us out quickly because of the large wait, which was irritating. Menu selection was large but I'd expect no less from a place like this. They serve standard breakfast fare - omelets, waffles, french toast, biscuits and gravy. I had the Floridian French Toast (sourdough with wheat germ, topped with berries); though it was huge it was a pretty underwhelming plate of food. The bread was dry, unflavorful, and they gave me a side of watery and artificial blueberry sauce that grossed me out. Their "maple syrup" is probably some equivalent of Aunt Jemima's High Fructose Corn Syrup With Food Coloring. Given the quality of the food, I'd say prices are on the high end, ranging from about $7-10 for each item. But, I suppose this is what I get for going to a chain store. read more

I love this place and try and go every week. But the take out service sucks! I have to check and open the containers of my salad every single time. Why do they always forget the avocados and bread stick on the honey pecan dijon salad. Then a few weekends ago I visited the one in Olathe and oh my God! It was a world of difference. The salad was almost twice the size and so much avocados. They need to step it up! read more

This is a breakfast place that is apparently very popular. I was there twice while in town and there was a wait both times. The food was really good though. I had the pumpkin pancake the first time which I loved, and the eggs benedict the next time which was just soso (not my favorite sauce ever). They were super friendly there, and very good with my 14 month old who likes to make a mess of food at restaurants. read more

It's all perfectly OK (except for the crepegg...that's an abomination). That said, First Watch is more notable for what it isn't rather than for what it is. So - while the servers are perfectly nice and the kitchen competent enough on all the breakfast basics - there are just so many places in Lawrence to go for breakfast where the overall experience, food, and dining room layout are significantly better, that it is hard to be too impressed by this chain offering. In fact, although I had a perfectly fine breakfast here, I'm finding it hard to think of somewhere in town that I would pick after First Watch in a list of breakfast places...and I am finding it difficult. read more

I've never been a huge First Watch fan, but I've never hated it. This location fits that perfectly - it's fine. I was here with a large group at lunch, and it was mostly dead aside from us. Orders were done efficiently, all of them came out right, and they came out pretty quickly considering how we slammed the kitchen all at once. I was impressed. The food was, as I mentioned, fine. I had a Tri-Fecta, which came with one monstrous pancake (I had pecan), two eggs any style (I chose over easy), and bacon/sausage. The pancake itself had tons of pecans, but was overall "meh" in flavor. The sausage, a single link, was good. The eggs were where I have praise and critique - it's often difficult to get eggs over easy done right, and they nailed it. However, the eggs themselves, flavor wise, were only "meh". read more
