This place is straight up about what it is: breakfast, brunch, and lunch only! They are open every day, but close at 2:30pm. BUT what this means is that I have finally found a place that will serve me brunch after 11am on a Friday!! That's a life win in my book. This location has been open for about a year now, but today was the first time I have been. They have a pretty extensive menu, but I didn't make it past the first item before I knew what I wanted! Normally I try not to buy avocado toast on principle because it is typically overpriced (and this wasn't an exception....$10.29), BUT I had seen pictures of how stacked the avocado was, plus it came with eggs to round out the meal a little better, so I decided to splurge. I've gotta tell ya, it was pretty delicious. There were no exotic frills like radish or seaweed or whatever else can be thrown on avocado toast - and that's how I preferred it! The avocado wasn't quite as fresh as what I had seen in the picture online, but it was still quite refreshing and just the right amount of food. The coffee was OK, but not my favorite. I was surprised to find that they didn't really have a wide variety of coffee options as a breakfast place. I tried to order a cappuccino but they did not have any (no espresso machine from what I could tell). I thought the house coffee might have been a show-stopper instead, but it was pretty standard diner coffee. At one point I tried to walk to the restroom, but had to turn back because there was a giant puddle blocking the entrance that was being mopped up -- don't know what that was about. First time trying this place. Went with my family early morning. Let me just start with the service.... very sweet and attentive waitress. We had told her it was our first time and helped us with the menu... just that alone I will be coming back. The food and drinks were delicious and fresh. We all ordered different things from the menu. My father had the frittata, mom had an omelette, hubby had an egg sandwich and I had the eggs Benedict. We also ordered pancakes. Extremely amazing Brunch place! The vibe is great and the service is exceptional. The food is extra ordinary. I ordered the following: 1. Coffee- great sip! 2. This place is just okay!! Okay so it's in the strip center on Beechnut St. across from the JC penny in Meyerland Plaza. Parking is decent. Sometimes on the weekends you might have to park a little farther down. But never anything too ridiculous. It used to be Egg and I before. I'm not sure if it's the same company. But I kinda doubt it. They do have the same hostess that used to work there before they changed. Unlike egg and I this place has been renovated. And now looks like a modern country restaurant. Okay the service isn't bad. But nothing much to talk about either. But again, I didn't have a situation that anybody really needed to go out of their way for either. I've been twice. The first time I ordered the waffle platter with eggs and bacon. It was just okay. My waffle didn't seemed as crisp as I preferred. But it tasted okay. My friend got the classic eggs Benedict. He thinks he's the connoisseur of eggs Benedict. He said that it wasn't that great. So our first visit was kinda blah. But we gave it another try. The second visit I got the breakfast tacos. They actually were pretty good. Corn tortillas were the only option and they didn't have salsa to offer as a condiment. Which was weird. But I did like the tacos. He ordered the BLT sandwich. Wow, at first glance it appears to be a a small quite little Mom and pop restaurant, but man is it far more than your little neighborhood spot. It's small and cozy but didn't feel crowded at all, I love the ambiance, very homey but still a bit more modern and upscale, loved that a lot! The customer service from the moment you walk in to the moment leave was top shelf and beyond appreciated. Now the food, the waffles were soft, flakey, and complete perfection! The bacon was delicious crispy and savory, I ordered the eggs Benedict with a BLT twist it was absolutely something I didn't know I was missing but it was beyond delicious! If you're ever in the Houston area def a breakfast/Brunch/Lunch drop spot! Last but not least order the lavender juice, beyond all my expectations from a lavender drink, I will think about that drink for probably ever!! read more

Let's first begin with me saying that I love first watch. The ones in Florida have never disappointed me with their food or service. I'm actually really sad that this one is getting 2 stars but I guess not all restaurants are equal. Service/atmosphere: busy as always, so be prepared to wait. Luckily when I got there my bf had already secured a place in line. There's free water and coffee while waiting. The restaurant is spacey with plenty of tables and very clean. The waitress was nice and brought out a pitcher of water in the beginning. She never really stopped by after that to ask how we were doing or to refill the water when it was empty for about 10 mins. I think the worst part is that we waited more than 30 minutes for our food to come out which never happened before in the ones in Florida. 30 MINUTES. I was pretty hangry. Food: as a regular, my bf always gets the same thing bc he knows what he likes. So we got his usual power bowl and we decided to try something new and ordered the daily special: truffle mushroom frittata. Power bowl: great dish bc it usually tastes great and is healthy. So this is a quinoa bowl with sausage, sundried tomatoes, mushroom, and greens with 2 eggs on top. The times I've had it, it always came with a side of toasted bread, this time it didn't. We asked the waitress about it and she brought some out. The sausage in the bowl tasted...off. As if it went bad, sort of sour which was a turn off so I didn't eat any of it. And the bread that she brought out was so salty that I didn't want to eat it. Mushroom frittata: the reason why we got this is because we LOVE truffle. It came with seasoned potatoes bc we opted to substitute it from the greens. The egg was fluffy but I could taste the truffle at all. The shallots just overpowered it way too much. And again, the bread that came with it was SO salty. Overall, it was a disappointment and I probably wouldn't come back. read more

The first waiter that took our original order didn't place the whole order so we never got the appetizer nor the side dish. We ask for another drink to another waiter since our first one never came back after delivering the food. Drink never came so we had to order it again with someone new. By then who I assume was the manager stop ask us if we needed anything, we told him we were still waiting on our drink. Finally the drink came. When were trying to leave we ask for the check and a to go cup. The waiter only got us the check, so we ask for someone else to get us a to go cup, still never came, the manager? came back again and ask if we were doing okay I guess since we were done eating and had the check with us already, told him we were still waiting on the to go cup, he was the one that ended up bringing it to us. We decided do Door Dash breakfast from First Watch after seeing such a delicious menu. Our delivery was quick and easy. The food was still warm and fresh. I was impressed with the savoriness of the gravy and the potatoes. Sometimes potatoes taste so plain, but when I tried them, they were great! The eggs were perfectly sunny side up. The biscuits were warm and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The million dollar bacon... WOW. Yes it's $6, but you just gotta try it. It was worth the extra money spent. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually eat at the location when the food comes out fresh and not delivered across town. We were looking for a brunch place cause the bf loves breakfast! First Watch came up on the list so we decided to go check it out since Meyerland wasn't very far away AND we wanted to avoid going into town cause of the Houston Marathon. We were super impressed by the place when we got there - the parking lot was full so we had to park a little ways away but there was plenty of parking in the strip mall lot. First Watch was super modern inside and decorated nicely! I love the farmhouse vibes! There was a 15 min or so wait on a Sunday morning, not too shabby - we were seated and it took them a minute to take our drink order and for the food to come out, but I'm assuming Sundays are one of their busiest days - so no biggie. We ordered the Avocado Toast - I was under-impressed. Nothing really special here - just slices of avocado on some multigrain bread. No real additions or flavors - though the menu said lemon and sea salt, those flavors didn't come through at all. I could easily make this at home. The bf got the Elevated Egg Sandwich and I could immediately tell by looking at it that the bun overwhelms everything else in the sandwich cause it's so large. I would suggest switching to a toasted thin bread or increasing the ingredients in the middle to even out the meat to bread ratio a bit. He thought it was just ok - mainly cause of the bread, but the potatoes were decent. I was trying to be on the healthier side and got the Power Wrap with egg whites and cremini mushrooms. I was surprised by how tasty the wrap was and it comes with pico and fresh fruits! I actually liked the wrap minus how wet it was - it got so drippy cause of the veggies that it actually made it hard to eat cause the tortilla would get soggy and it would fall apart. Definitely hard to dip or even pour pico on it for added flavor. But overall, it was good for a healthy option. The Kale drink tasted a bit on the diluted side, though you get tall glass for the price. It was alright - definitely no Central Market juice but it's good for the price. Overall, very impressed with the space. The food was mediocre, or at least what we ordered, with my power wrap being what I expected. I would give it another shot and come back for some normal breakfast fares to see how they compare to the rest. The lemon ricotta pancakes on the menu actually looked/sounded real divine! read more

This used to be The Egg & I. When I drove up, I was surprised at the name change. Come to find out, all of The Egg & I's went corporate and changed the name. Now it's got more of a farm to market kind of vibe and menu, which is fine. Before ordering, I was a little worried that with the name change and the menu change, would possibly come a quality and flavor change. Well it did, but it wasn't for the bad. But when you add the perfect ratio of brown sugar, slight kick of cayenne pepper and the natural saltiness of bacon, you get something that equates to the best bacon you'll ever eat! Cooked absolutely to perfect, just enough chew and just enough crunch. I wanted to tell the waiter to keep that bacon coming it was so darn good. But enough about the star, let's get to the other characters. The waffle was amazing, I don't know if it was a buttermilk waffle but it sure tasted like one, could've had just a touch more crunch on the outside but nonetheless tasted phenomenal. I drove home to visit my family in Houston for the weekend so I started my morning by meeting my cousin for Breakfast. This was our first visit so we were both excited to try this place. We had an amazing waitress who went over the menu and drink options with us. I can't remember her name but I think her name is Yesmina. While looking over the menu, our waitress brought us a few of their juice options to sample. They were all delicious. After looking over the menu, I decided to get The Works Omelette with toast and seasoned potatoes. My cousin ordered the Crab Omelette with toast and grits. I sampled my cousin's grits and her omelette. Everything was delicious and definitely more food than we could eat. The place fills up pretty quick so if you plan on coming on the weekend, I would come early. I am planning on coming here very soon when I go back to Houston to visit my family. Also my order was for one person meal (not some massive order) Need to revamp your order management system, or just completely remove your estimated pick up time. Have not yet tried food, looks decent, priced well for the location. Decor was good. But most of this food is cookable at home, didn't anticipate wasting my entire morning. Her response was that they ran out. She said they are trying to make more. She came out with the anglaise sauce. I wanted to caramel. It was the reason I ordered it. Her reply was that they never had it. How about letting us know that before we order? Of course they still charge the same price. My husband ordered the truffle mushroom skillet. He substituted the bacon for chorizo. He had a dime size of chorizo put in. He asked if he could get more. Again, no apologies. My skillet came without the toast. When she gave us our meal I had to ask for silverware. Then later we had to ask for napkins, we didn't see her for another 20 minutes.
