My sister and I came here for brunch on a Friday a couple weeks ago because we had been to another location in Atlanta which is always so good.... Unfortunately this MD location did not live up to our expectations. First, the service. It was not busy at all, maybe like 10 other customers in the whole place, yet our server seemed to struggle to remember anything that we requested. She took our order, walked away, and then I had to ask her THREE MORE TIMES for water. Water! And even then she still didn't bring it, I had to flag down a busboy to bring me some water as I choked down some salad, which had not been prepared as requested. The waitress did not even recognize her mistakes or forgetfulness, she just continued on as though everything was fine. To make matters worse, my sister's food was....suspect. She ordered a salad with turkey meat on it, and as I watched her push all the turkey off to the side, I asked her what was wrong with it. She was like, try it for yourself (sisters can be so mean). That was not meat! I don't know what it was but I'm still queasy from tasting it. Between the service and the food, you can spend $30+ on brunch at much better places in this area. read more

The healthy options remind me of CA style brunches. This is definitely my go to brunch place over Ted's Bulletin. Long wait times so make sure to call ahead or reserve your spot through the Yelp app. read more

Great food, great service! For lunch my go-to is the beefeater sandwich (my addiction) but today I opted for breakfast and went the basic route for a Belgian waffle, eggs and seasoned potatoes. My one critique would be that the waffle was very soft/had no crispness on the outside. But, it wasn't that big of a deal. I still ate the whole thing :) They offer fresh pressed juice now which is awesome. I tried the "day glow" which is carrot, orange, lemon & organic ginger. Yum. read more

My wife drags me out to breakfast on weekends against my will, so I'm thrilled that we've found a place to make the trip worth while. On days like today I get the indulgence of chocolate chip pancake (no I'm not 12 years old). On days when I'm feeling more my age I get the banana granola crunch pancakes - unique and delicious! Bacon is amazing and a must order. Wait for a table can be harsh on a Sunday morn, so make sure the download the "nowait" app to put yourself in line before you leave the house. Service is good about 60% of the time - we got the big win today by having Kayla serve us! read more

Super busy on a Sunday at around 10:30. Use the app and get put on the list! Seated much faster that way. Chorizo omelette was great although very mild if you are looking for spicy chorizo. Farmhouse hash was really good-not too heavy but still filling. Waffle had a wonderful berry compote served on the side. Only meal that we wouldn't order again was the biscuit and gravy-it was a little bland. Overall worth the wait! read more

Came here with my Mum, sister, and her boyfriend. The staff were accomodating, patient, and pleasant considering how busy they were. I got the AM Powerbowl and it was delish!!!! Their bread/toast is amazing too. Everyone else liked their dishes as well. Yum yum! read more

First Watch - AM Bowl I think it was called. It had coconut chia pudding and fruit goodness - Cafes Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

I came here a few days for lunch, and was pleasantly surprised. I first looked at their website and figured I was going to another lunch place that made sandwiches. When I got there, the staff were very friendly and let me pick where I wanted to sit. The menu was very extensive, and there were even specials. Although I came in thinking I would get a sandwich, I was drawn to then myriad omelets. The Greek Fetish omelet caught my eye and I decided to order it. The omelet came with peppers and spinach inside and the olives and onion on top. The other half of the plate were diced roasted potatoes that wee pretty good. They even serve an English muffin with that, it came out with a really delicious spread. Best of all, the ingredients are fresh and farm to table. This place is perfect for those lazy Sundays when you want a hardy brunch without the uppity stuck-up atmosphere. This place came across as a more laid back and less pretentious version of Founding Farmers. Don't get me wrong, I like Founding Farmers, it's just more low key and easygoing. No dressing up required! read more

Excellent experience, I will be back! Josh was our server, super courteous and great service. Didn't know what to expect coming here but for sure my new favorite breakfast/brunch spot! read more

First Watch - Avocado toast with basted eggs. This was So so good! - Cafes Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

My husband and I have been here at least 3 times. We've brought friends family and work colleagues. The food and service are top notch. Tip: get on the yelp waiting list to reduce the length of time you wait. This is our go to place.. read more

"To die for" is such an over-used term but it fits so perfectly when I try to think of a way to describe literally anything on the menu. I'm a huge breakfast food person so I love me some simple pancakes and bacon and our whole grain gigantic pancakes always make me super happy. Get the banana ones, you won't regret it! My partner is very fond of the avocado toast. I'm the weirdo of this entire generation that doesn't LOVE avocado but even I think that the toast is pretty damn delicious. Also, the million dollar bacon? Yeah. Just try it. Yum. Also, the coffee, I cannot say enough good things about. Google 'Project Sunrise Coffee' or 'Mujeres en Café of Huila'. A cut of the money First Watch gets for the coffee ordered goes right back to the women farmers of Huila, Colombia who work so hard to grow the finest coffee beans one can make! It's so inspirational. Truly. And it really is some of the best coffee I've ever had. My partner and I are huge coffee people. We love trying different kinds from all over the world. And when we talk about going to First Watch, we instantly get all giggly talking about how excited we are to have some Project Sunrise coffee. We love to buy the bags of beans too. Brb, gonna go tell my partner we're going to First Watch for breakfast tomorrow, lol! read more

Another First Watch experience that was exactly what I needed! I had First Watch for the first time while visiting my boyfriends sister in Florida. Loved it then, loved it now! Fresh, made to order. Coffee is delicious! And the prices are right. Definitely would go back :) read more

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this First Watch. The host and server greeted us kindly and were attentive throughout the meal. The food is always delicious and oh my gosh the coffee is to die for! I love the international delight creamer pods and all of the toppings/condiments available at the table. We highly recommend this location and will be back soon! read more

I was very happy with the food, decor, and service. Reminds me of founding farmers but more relaxed. My waiter was inexperienced but super nice. Breakfast and lunch were both great and inexpensive. The only thing seriously poor were the sides of bagel and English muffin. Both were far inferior quality compared to everything else we got, and were barely toasted. The bagel came with one of those school lunch frozen cream cheese packs. The decor is super chill with many different choices ranging from comfy booths with pillows to unique antique looking stools. Will definitely be back because of the atmosphere and good healthy food choices at reasonable price. read more

I'm going to start off by saying today was such a disappointment. We've been to First Watch in Cincinnati and in Baltimore, so we decided to try this one out. We went here for breakfast/bunch after church. It was a 35minute wait at 1030am for a party of 4. Waiting to be seated wasn't so bad, but then it took forever for our food to come. Husband ordered the Everything smoked salmon benedict from their Summer Features Menu, but the poached eggs were totally overcooked. The eggs didn't run at all. We had them redo it and they still managed to overcook them once again. All of that waiting wasn't worth it whatsoever. He also ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were just ok. The kids got chocolate chip pancakes and they were massive! One came with turkey sausage, which was not turkey but pork. The other came with bacon. We added an over easy egg to accompany one of the kids' pancake and it came with two. Not surprised but one of those eggs was fried hard. The other was more like an over medium. The only reason I gave them two stars versus one is that the elote Mexican Street corn hash that I ordered was quite tasty and my over easy eggs were cooked properly. read more

I love this place. When we want a treat on weekends we go out for breakfast at First Watch. We actually just discovered the Gaithersburg location. We also downloaded the app and get in line before we head out which makes it much easier and faster to get a table. read more

First Watch used to be one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places. But the service of late has been really disappointing. Online orders are often not ready on time. Today my order was supposed to be ready at 2:15, and it didn't come out until 2:40. I got home to find that the butternut squash bisque I ordered was not in the bag...... I got grits instead of the muffin I ordered..... and no napkins or utensils. Don't think I'll be ordering from First Watch anymore. read more

This place gets busy on the weekends for a reason. Fresh, creative food at a great price. The flavors and ingredients are very balanced, but exciting. Any chain that makes liberal use of avocados is good news in my book. I highly recommend the Parma Hash and the Key West Crepeggs. Service is prompt and very friendly, despite how busy it gets. Free coffee while you wait for a table and when it gets real busy, they'll put your number down in an app that sends you a text message when your table is ready. Gone are the days of carrying around a smelly plastic buzzer. read more

This place has great breakfast food but almost always takes longer then they say to prepare. I've had to wait 30 minutes over the promised time to get my food which is incredible frustrating. I don't mind food taking long but I hate wasting my time waiting when I could be working it relaxing. read more

Unfortunately I will have to give a rating of 2 stars. This past Saturday my mother and I experienced the worst service. The waitress did not greet us nor acknowledged our existence. My mother and I could hear her throwing a tantrum in the kitchen yelling she did not want to serve us. The waitress then finally presented us water and gave my mother an unwarranted attitude. I brought her actions to the host's attention and he swiftly brought the manager out. The manager was sympathetic and professional but the damage was already done. I no longer felt comfortable in that environment. Staff members in the past have been great and the food is good but I am personally turned off by the situation that occurred. read more

Visited Saturday for brunch. Very busy, but well staffed to meet the needs of guests. Despite this, service was lacking. Had to ask multiple times for water with our meal. Food came out lukewarm and had little flavor, quite bland -- with the exception of the breakfast potatoes which were well seasoned. Had the biscuits and gravy: biscuit very dry, the gravy is made with turkey sausage and reminded me of how cat food smells. Not appetizing. If we return, I'd probably try one of their specialty items. I want to like this cute brunch spot, but my first visit did not leave a favorable impression. read more

Went here for brunch the other day and loved it. I live right around the corner and will be coming a lot more often. I had the Eggs Benedict Florentine and it was delicious. I wish that they were open all day beacause who doesn't love breakfest for dinner? My only complaints are our server was not super attentive and the water glasses kind of smelt funny. It gets super busy on the weekends so expect a wait! read more

Arrived mid-morning -- and First Watch was pretty busy with both late breakfast and early lunch folks, yet we were seated immediately at a wheelchair accessible table conveniently right near the entrance, and greeted with a pot of steaming coffee and endless refills. We ordered from the breakfast menu, and enjoyed everything -- the shared blueberry pancakes (with steaming hot syrup on the side), the egg sandwich, the avocado omelette/breakfast place, the eggs over salad, the fried potatoes... everything was hot, and tasty, and well-portioned and nicely plated. The service was prompt, the wait for food reasonable considering the full house of customers, and the staff was friendly and attentive though not overbearing. Once we finished our meal, we stayed an extra bit to finish our meeting and conversation, and never felt rushed by the staff. This was my first visit to First Watch -- but it will not be my last one. I hope to return and try more items, and delve into the lunch menu as well! read more

I would not be so harsh on this place. It doesn't pretend to be anything it is not. It is a straightforward breakfast place, but trying to be healthy, rather not like a Denny's or OPH. The place is super busy, and the juices are good, although they are pre-made. That's cool, it's not a juice place, it tries to be a healthy breakfast place. It's not much more than that, which I give it 3 snaps for, really, after all! read more

Horrible. Fake eggs for omelette very dry the world renowned bacon flavorless never again . Better Food @ the IHOP

First watch was amazing as always. I hit the seasonal Hacienda Hash and Omg that hit the spot. I also got a banana granola crunch and I was an interesting pair but it worked so well. Coffee to top it off of course. Was completely satisfied, can't wait to come back. read more

This place was really great! It was our first time here, my sons brought me for a birthday brunch. Wait time was a little bit long but to be expected for a Saturday afternoon. It spacious and clean. The staff is really great and it seems like there's a lot of teamwork going on. Now, the best part of course was the food! Everything was just fresh and amazing. I was not a fan of the carrot ginger orange with lemon juice that they had but it wasn't bad. Otherwise the pancakes are humongous and delicious. My son order the eggs Benedict my other 2 sons ordered the trifecta, I ordered a farmhouse skillet and my friend I forgot what she got but it was really good because I did taste it!! The atmosphere is super chill not very noisy. We will definitely be back. read more

Came here on a weekday so it wasn't crowded. Service was great! We walked in and were greeted with a big smile from the hostess. Our waiter Marc was friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were awesome. The water was served in a cute bottle. We got the Kale tonic and day glow. Both were so good. Then we ordered the traditional breakfast, the trifecta with the Belgian waffle, and two blueberry pancakes. Everything was amazing (I'm a sucker for breakfast foods); waffle was fluffy and delicious, bacon and eggs were perfect. Btw the pancakes are huge, but delicious! Get some to share! Definitely will come back whenever I'm in the area for brunch! read more

We visited here for the first time yesterday. I was expecting a diner-type restaurant and was very pleasantly surprised by the decor. It's modern, industrial but warm. The menu had a lot to offer - whole grain pancakes in many flavors, sandwiches, omelets and a lot more. The food was outstanding! I ordered the special - two eggs and whole grain toast with cream cheese, capers, cucumbers, arugula and lox. It was divine! My husband got an egg white omelet with spinach, feta, mushrooms and turkey. It came with very tasty potatoes. He loved his dish also! The service was very good. The only downside was that the decaf coffee was weak. But we would definitely eat here again and might even get the same dishes! read more

I'm a happy camper now that First Watch occupies the coveted corner spot in the Muddy Branch shopping center. Fingers & Claws was fine but my family was always wary of the dark and dirty interior -- no more with First Watch! The new set-up is beautiful. Open, spacious, nicely decorated, it really is a sunny place to sit and enjoy breakfast/lunch. We came first thing on a Sunday morning (about 8am) since I have driven by later in the morning to see a line out the door! Luckily we were one of only 5 or so tables and things didn't really pick up any time we were there. Safe to say eating before 10 should secure you a quiet table. We were sat right next to the kitchen (I'm starting to think it's just my luck) which I am not a fan of since the restaurant was basically empty, but that also made for a quieter, calmer kitchen so it wasn't much of a distraction. I will ask for a new table next time :) I am a hash fanatic and I had tried FW's once at the Rockville location so I went for it again. 2 eggs atop avocado, bacon, and tomato hash with an english muffin and fruit on the side. It's a great, balanced portion and the potatoes had nice flavor. I was pleasantly surprised with the tomatoes given the time of year, too. My eggs over-medium were perfectly cooked, just starting to firm but still runny. The omelettes and pancakes looked great as well, and I was intrigued about the juice bar options. Given my affinity for boozy brunch I would normally say a bottomless option would be fun here, but I kind of enjoyed having a quiet meal where the fresh ingredients could shine. Keep doin' you, FW, and I'll see you soon! read more

My family was in town from South Carolina. I made reservations on line for us to have brunch there. We arrived at the restaurant. I look at my phone, tapped the reservation and it was cancelled. I went inside to find out why. The cashier couldn't help me & the manager was not available. I was very disappointed. The one star was tap only so I could post my remarks. read more

First Watch is my favorite place for a great breakfast and even lunch items. They thrive on consistency, quality and professionalism and I just learned that that they are quite communicative in a positive manor as well! It's refreshing that there are establishments out there that truly care about making sure that the customer is satisfied. Their food quality and unique menu items are quite fantastic in my opinion and to know that they will make it right every time, makes it the reason that I'll return again and again. Although... they had me with their Million Dollar Bacon... KUDOS! read more

By far the best breakfast we've had in a long time. Oliver was our server today, great service. He was very attentive and our order was 100%. Food came out quickly as well. My mom ordered the elevation egg sandwich and she loved it! Thank you to Oliver for a great experience today. read more

Sort of a cross between Founding Farmers and Panera Bread. Lots of great breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. Portions are fairly large and quite diverse. Prices are reasonable and parking is ample. Restaurant gets crowded very quickly but wait times aren't usually too bad. Staff was fairly attentive but could certainly be more accommodating. One of the better places in the area to get your breakfast/brunch fix. Recommend the bacon, tomato, and avocado hash. Requested my eggs to be over medium and they came out perfectly. Waffles were a bit overdone and not as light and crisp as you might hope/expect. Great perk is the free coffee available to folks when waiting for a table. Only thing I didn't like was the name and logo. Sounds and looks like a medical center of some sort. read more

They have the most terrible system. Got in line on app, left house and got there when the app said we had 1 table ahead of us. Checked in with host snd they said we had 7 tables ahead of us. Waited for 40 minutes, checked in and there were still 3 tables ahead of us. Went back in 10 minutes and now there were 4 tables ahead of us......still not sure how that math works. End of story, almost 1.5 hours later we left and will NEVER go back. FYI - not the first time this has happened. Don't write reviews often but was hoping to save someone else the frustration....just go elsewhere. read more

Tried this for the first time and it was delicious! The lake drink was too strong and bitter, so the waiter added more AJ to make it taste better. read more

The ingredients were good but the execution was bad. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the eggs tasted like they were cooked in vinegar. I understand that using vinegar helps keep the egg white together when poaching but WAY too much was used. Also, the eggs were very overcooked. Zero runny yolk left. The seasoned potatoes were burnt. My friend ordered 2 eggs over easy and what he got was well done eggs. The egg whites were browned, actually crispy on the edges, and the yolks were completely hard. Just sad for the cost of the food. My first, and probably last experience here. Very disappointing. Again, judging by the ingredients it had the potential of being really good but the cooks ruined it. Service was great and the orange juice was clearly fresh squeezed, hence the 2 stars instead of only 1. read more

I truely believe the harder part of a restaurant is the service...more so the quality of the food. There were approx 7 empty tables waiting to get cleaned off and at least 10 people waiting in line. Note: new host today. I keep coming back for the Banana nut Pancakes and the overall quality of their other great tasting breakfast items. In fact, it's probably the best in the 5 mile radious. There's no real "diner" around here other than the Green house. And if I feel a little courageous and for a nice change I recommend Columbian Breeze. Although it's been attained by a new owner the unique and tasteful breakfast eggs/diced tomatoes, Chicharones is amazing. Oh! Go for First Watch! You will be pleased and to you health nuts too. read more
