This place is a definite must! We had the lemon ricotta pancakes, the egg sandwich, a single carrot cake pancake, and Benny (smoked salmon) eggs benedict. The Benny eggs benedict came out about 3 min after the rest of our food, which was no big deal but our waiter apologized and took it off the bill. The carrot cake pancake was just amazing. They have good free coffee and excellent fresh squeezed orange juice in addition to their fresh juice bar selections. The food also does not take a long time to come out. Formerly the "Egg and I", this First Watch was a pleasant surprise as we have frequented the FW on McQwen. Although we miss the Egg and I, FW has a great menu that translates to excellent food. My wife is a super huge fan of the FW Kale Tonic Drink and the avocado toast!! I enjoy their coffee and several of their omelets. Service is ways friendly and staff make excellent recommendations. This is my local go-to breakfast spot. Fresh tasting eggs, great breakfast meats, spot on coffee (dark and strong) and servers that have that bright and friendly morning attitude. Non traditional egg dishes looked interesting. The wife enjoyed the avocado omelette and their waffles light and perfectly baked. Suggest they ad some sort of flavoring to the breakfast potatoes, there a little bland, some onions and/or peppers would help, but overall the place is great. And put some sort of cushions on those hard wooden chairs. Us older folks need the cushioning. Know some seniors who don't visit because of that issue. Labor Day morning we got into First Watch in a quick 10-15 minutes. We waited ONE HOUR for our food with little acknowledgement from the server. When our food finally arrived, it was ICE COLD! Wonderful healthy items to choose from for breakfast or lunch. The staff is friendly and helpful with the menu items. My husband ordered the pancakes which were delicious and I ordered the eggs/toast/fruit plate. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared and arrived in a timely manner. Not sure what all the rave reviews are about. Or maybe I ordered the wrong thing (Lemon Pancakes). Or maybe some other things ruined the experience: It started when the waitress came to the table with a pot of coffee and was engaging us in conversation, but all the while running her fingers over the pour spout and clicking the edge of the spout with her fingernail. Definitely didn't get any coffee! But then it could have been the LONG wait between ordering and receiving our food. Also heard others complaining about the delay. And never an apology about the wait. The syrup bottles are interesting - they're more like oil & vinegar dispensers so you have to work pretty hard to get enough syrup out. They bring water to the table in adorable glass milk jugs... we loved they left a pot of coffee on our table...wish other places would do that so I can warm up my coffee. I have (2) rambunctious (18) month old twin boys to start off my story. After church last Sunday my wife and I thought it would be a great idea to try out the new location First Watch opened on Meridian. Everything was great for the first (20) minutes when we arrived in the restaurant and I even got a chance to drink one of the veggie shakes. Then it happened, my boys started getting restless. I didn't want to spoil the mood for the other patrons so I asked the server to please box up our breakfast that hadn't been brought out yet so we could take it home and eat. When I went to the register the manager, Marie asked me if everything was okay and if I got a chance to eat. I know she could probably see the frustration of a typical male/father on my face from the disappointment of not being able to eat and having to rush out. I told her I didn't want to bother anyone around me and that we would just eat at home. Marie stated that she wanted us to return when we could enjoy the experience and that today's tab was on them. I was absolutely blown away by the offer! Everything that the staff was doing for us during the serving process was spot on, it was me that was having the issue. So long story short the experience was brief but memorable until we got home and dug into our breakfast. The Chikichanga I bought was insane and I'm addicted. My wife ate the omelet and the kids had bacon, eggs and a chocolate chip pancake. I think we fed the kids too much because they wouldn't stop eating. They loved it! I can't tell you how much I appreciate everything. It made my Sunday start off on a positive note. I'm a life long patron and I'm glad we have a fantastic breakfast option in Franklin now. We were excited to try brunch here today. The menu is great and the decor was inviting. Everything was fine until I sat down. Our server didn't want to be at work today. Our food either came out cold, luke warm or underdone. Breakfast potatoes were almost raw. The over easy eggs were not over-easy. The bacon was cold. Our silverware was dirty. When we asked to send our sons food back, the server literally rolled her eyes. When we checked out, the hostess asked how it was and my husband told her not good. She offered to comp the meal but my husband said he wasn't looking for a free meal, just a chance to give feedback. She said, "ok" and handed him the credit card. No apology, no offer to talk to the manager. I had high hopes but was very disappointed in our visit. read more

And I really thought I'd pretty much gotten over little spots all over town doing their own version of kale salads :) But I was so pleasantly surprised. Horrible service. Short staffed which was evident by the 6 empty tables on one side of the restaurant while the hostess / cashier was quoting 15 minute wait times. The hostess / cashier was rude. I watched 2 other groups walk out before they got to eat. We walked out after wasting about 20 minutes waiting. The worst part, besides the rudeness, was watching folks having to stand in line to pay to get out. I understand a line to get in, but to pay to get out? Don't think so. This "First Watch" is my last and it's a shame because their menu looked pretty good. I can spend my money anywhere and I choose to spend it where the service is as good as the food. I give this place zero stars based on service alone since we didn't get to eat. If I could give this a half star, that would still be too nice. Our "experience" started off with a 45 minute wait, which was expected, bc it was Sunday during brunch hours... not a big deal. However, once it was time for us to get seated, things went left. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 toddlers (so we needed 2 high chairs). After the hostess walked us to our table(s) (3 tables next to each other that had not been cleaned), she said adios and that was the last we saw of her. So my group proceeded to clean off the tables and rearrange the tables bc they were different sizes. The tables had dirty glasses and cups on them. We then realized that the hostess had not brought over the high chairs, so my husband went to grab those. My sister realized we did not have menus, so my brother-in-law went to grab those. Needless to say, we did not have silverware either. Once we were situated, we waited for our server to stop by. "Our" server did come to our table, but it was only after my bro-in-law got her attention as she was walking away after checking on the table next to us. When he asked her if she was our server, she said yes this is my table but I have another "large" party and I'm checking with another server to see if he is going to take your table. And that was it. Thanks for nothing toots. After sitting there for another 5 minutes, my family and I decided that it would be best to just go ahead and leave, bc we were convinced that things were only going to continue to go downhill from there. Needless to say, we won't be dining at First Watch again, we'll at least not this location. It was by far the most awful experience we have had. read more
