I have eaten at several First Watch restaurants this was my first in Georgia. We arrived about two hours before closing and they were not busy. The waitress brought coffee to or table and we proceeded to order. I ordered the works omelet, cheese grits and a pancake. We poured some coffee while we waited for our order and it wasn't hot. Our food arrived to the table it wasn't hot and we sat steps from the kitchen. I smeared softened butter on my pancakes and it didn't melt the warmed syrup helped somewhat. The cheese grits were not hot and had more cheese than grits making them very gummy. The works omelet was disappointing no flavor whatsoever. The little bits of bacon helped some but the pile of onions I pulled from that omelet killed the deal for me. I wish I would have thought to take pictures. Needless to say I won't be making a return visit. read more

I'm giving this place 5 stars because they deserve it. The server was very polite and patient. Never got her name though. She said she was new so if you have recent newbies, great for them. The only issue was the smoked salmon APPEARED raw and my husband wasn't used to eating it that way. We've never smoked salmon at home so the appearance threw us off. We mentioned it to the server and repeatedly said that nothing was wrong and that we were still paying for everything we ate however we'd prefer that we have ham come out as a substitute. As the ham was being prepared, a short lady comes out, projecting her voice in a manner that came off as aggressive and assured us that it wasn't raw, it was smoked and that it was cooked. We again told her what we told the server, in a more pleasant tone that it wasn't what he preferred to eat and that we'd still like the ham in response to her asking us if "we were sure". The server, who's name we learned was Brielle, returned with our ham and we told her that it wasn't a big deal. She said that she's new and that check on her after every ordeal. Again, no issue there. We ourselves also work in a full kitchen environment and definitely know that it was a form of protecting her as the newbie more or less than checking behind her. Although my delivery wouldn't have came off as aggressive, I would've made sure my new server was comfortable in receiving any type issue or complaint. Kudos to the small lady for that. Delicious!. First watch is so good, I dined in twice in one week. And both times, the same delicious food. For my appetizer I started with the avocado toast and instead of having poach eggs, I got my egg scrambled hard with cheese. The avocado toast is delicious. They leave it in chunks so it is definitely considered avocado rather than guacamole. I love it ! I also ordered the trifecta in which I got French toast, cheese eggs scrambled hard, and home fries ( i'm vegetarian and they don't happen to have any meat substitutes ) The French toast is delicious. Crisp around the edges but soft and gooey in the middle. It seems like they use cheddar cheese on the eggs which I love. And the home fries come with caramelized onions and are cooked to perfection exclamation ! This place is definitely five stars to me and I will be returning. The food at this location is very bland. The host was not inviting. I came in and he told me that it would be an hour wait. The people after me he told them 30. So I decided just to order food to go. Please note if you order a beverage without ice they give you a smaller cup, and will tell you it would be the same as the large cup if it had ice in it. I also asked about outside seating and the host told me they don't have outside seating, which clearly they do. This location is rather small and compact. The staff could be more professional and warm. I will stick to the location by my house. The service at Bill Kennedy is much better and the taste of the food. read more

Hands down the absolute worst First Watch I've ever been to. I have had no less than 11 horrible experiences trying to place orders, pick up orders, have my incorrect orders (their errors) replaced or corrected, asking to speak with a manager to inform them of the multiple times of nonsense... nothing changes. No apologies for never answering their phones, no apologies for mixed up orders, no apologies for giving your orders to other customers. The hostess is awful and her attitude is unbelievable for someone so young. I have literally sat in the waiting area and called into the restaurant, hearing the phone ringing and watching the staff ignore it and continue playing around or being on their phones. The food is good when you can get and it's even better when it's actually what you ordered. I genuinely hate this location. read more

I was really excited to try First Watch for the first time but was disappointed. I ordered the Bacado omelette minus avocado and a side salad. It was supposed to come with jack cheese and pico de gallo. So I got the potatoes and not the side salad. No cheese or pico de gallo. Just eggs and bacon. So it was dry and hard to eat. It tasted ok. The potatoes were good but it comes with too many and so there was half left on my plate. Friend has the classic eggs benedict and wanted muffin instead of ciabatta but it came out with ciabatta. So if you are making substitutions (or just omissions), it could mess the entire order up. Otherwise, nice atmosphere. Service was good. But not sure if I will rush back given other loves like Flying Biscuit, Another Broken Egg, etc. read more

I am taking off one start as service can be slow, but the people working are good folks. I always try to spend at black-owned businesses. They are known for so many things. It's not fair to list just a few, but duty calls. Check out their fresh juice bar. Nothing stale and predictable here. The Purple Haze is pretty AND tasty! They serve eggs 8 ways to Sunday. For a whole meal in one, try one of their Skillets. Their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are a lemon lover's dream. They even have well-seasoned turkey link sausages. We are living in a crazy world right now but my love for food and eating out remains. Since I'm going out to eat I figure I revisit places and see how they are functioning with Covid-19. While there are less people to enjoy a meal with, First Watch is dedicated to making anyone who dines with them feel welcomed and wanted. There is sanitizer available when you walk in, ALL of the staff wear mask, and the dining tables are marked off ensuring 6ft of social distance. They also made excellent use of their patio area and have the seats spaced out accordingly. Our waitress was so friendly. She was excited to be back to work and was eager to help us decide on our food. This was an outing for my moms birthday, there was 4 of us and the total came out to $82. Unfortunate for me, I didn't get to eat everyone's food so I will focus on what I ordered but I will also list some other great options I've had in the past because I'm a fiend for first watch. This go round I had the "Chilie Chorizo"! An omelette with Chorizo a Mexican style sausage, green chilies, grilled onions, cheese, and sour cream! I paired it with a side salad, whole grain toast and they're infamous Banana Granola Pancake. My beverage of choice was the Morning Meditation. The Chilie Chorizo was delicious but I wish I had some spicy pico de gallo to go with it. The pancake always rocks my world! It's sweet, crunchy, and buttery. You hardly need syrup! Yasssss. I was first introduced to First Watch a year and a half ago in TN, I had a great time. My friend suggested breakfast there and I jumped at the chance. With my new *Elite Status* (shameless plug) I was excited to try this place with a different attitude. This location is in a shopping plaza, lots of free parking (: The restaurant is small and L shaped, with a partially exposed kitchen & bev station towards the back. There is a mixture of tables & booths. My friend and I sat in a booth directly across from the kitchen. The tables are preset with (clean!!) glasses and mugs, silverware etc (see pictures). I had the limited edition hibiscus ¿lemonade/tea? It was tasty, but not better than the kale tonic. Sarah was the staff member that sat and took care of us. She was friendly and checked up on us. Food was great! I had the Florentine eggs benedict and he had the Italian Omelette. Both were flavorful and filling. So as with most brunch spots this place will have a wait when you most want to eat here but it's worth it. Solid brunch items, both indulgent ones like pumpkin pancakes and biscuits and gravy but also healthy things like multigrain pancakes and green juice. Service {I've been to 2 locations here and Chamblee} is not the fastest or most detailed, but it's good enough. If you have some patience this is a solid place with good that won't disappoint. My favorite go tos are the eggs Benedict {there are 3-4 options and o get the Florentine one which has spinach and mushrooms} and the frittata which has the truffle oil and Mushrooms is so yummy. Omelette portions seem a bit larger than frittata ones so if you HAMGRY opt omlette instead. Also --The pancakes are massive. So when the server says are you sure you want to stack say no I'll just take one. I'm a big eater and I'll get one pancake on the side and need to share it because I can't finish it. Recently opened franchise breakfast place in Decatur. Having been to a few other locations, had a generally favorable impression of the menu offerings. The place is smaller than would be expected for the location, but it's well appointed. Waitstaff seemed a little thin at 9AM on a weekday, but some of that is probably related to how new the place is. Service was good, no major issues. Accommodating to kids. Decided to try the local special of shrimp and grits. You can tell this isn't a southern establishment by the grits. Overall flavor was good, shrimp were cooked appropriately, but the grits were sad. Next time I'll probably Go for the trifecta or standard options but minus the grits. Looking forward to giving it another shot, but fortunately there are some good options in Decatur! read more

Don't go during popular brunch times on the weekend!!! At least call ahead and check the wait times... They also have other locations throughout Atl; this location is super new and super busy. If you're aiming for brunch on the weekend around 11 ish to 12 ish, good luck. The significant other and I cruised by last last Sat and saw a line that went outside so we just postponed our visit to 8 AM this past Sat, which had a decent amount of people and absolutely no wait time. The prices were pretty good for a brunch place in the Atl area: you can find dishes that's under $10. What surprised us was the uniqueness of the dishes. And what def wowed us was the taste! I ordered the pesto chicken quinoa bowl. Boy oh boy was this dish yummy in my tummy. If you think of quinoa you don't think of much flavor, but with the other magnificent ingredients, this dish came through and is a def rec. The significant other ordered the croque madame from the seasonal menu, and that thing was so hearty. Not only was the sandwich itself filling, the two eggs atop will def fill you up. This dish is also a rec in my book! I saw they also had a selection of freshly squeezed juices. The coffee was pretty good as it had a slight sweetness to it. Parking was pretty plentiful as First Watch is facing the street of N. Decatur Road where the new Sprouts Farmers Market in Decatur is. I have always enjoyed the dished at First Watch and have been patronizing this location since they opened. Anyone that follows me on Yelp knows that I am honest with my reviews and will put a right word on here as fast as I would a not so glowing review. Last week we came to have brunch, and I ordered a skillet (which I ordered with an over easy egg) when I got my food it was barely warm, and my eggs were cooked all the way through. Also, the replacement eggs didn't even come to the table until I finished eating. The manager was kind enough to remove the dish from our check (not my intention). Today we decided to give them another chance, and we got a dish that wasn't even room temperature Again, it was removed from. The check (again, not the intent), and they did apologize for both instances. So, here is what I have to say about all of this. I think that the kitchen needs an excellent expedited to check the food before it goes out. The food taste is not the issue. The food quality is not the issue. How well it is prepared and sent out seems to be an issue. Also, the wait staff is the ones that suffer through their tips. In instances like these, I tip based on the original total because of the kitchen being the culprit, and not the wait staff. I think the restaurant needs a bit of attention on the kitchen output and it will be back on track. I hope they can fix this issue. Update Nov 25, 2019 - my previous review was done several months ago. I was contacted by the regional manager who apologized for the experiences that we had in the past. He mentioned that he was working with the staff to correct the issues of cold food, orders being incomplete, and bad service. Today we decided to give it another chance (the regional manager was going to call me once the issue were fixed). I am not sure where the Regional Manager stands on the corrective issue, so we went to the restaurant on good faith. Today we were greenly immediately, offered coffee, and seated promptly. Our food arrived quickly, correct, and piping hot! Our server(Rose) was very professional and prompt. I can honestly say that whatever they have worked on to heighten their service has made a positive impact. Keep up the good work FW! I'm a frequent eater at first watch, but this was my first visit at this location, & i must say i don't care to come back. I arrived around 10am and was told there was a 45 minute wait, that didn't sit well with me. it's very small and overcrowded here. People standing in a line at the door blocking the door. My waitress was nice and friendly tho. I ordered my usual avocado toasted, million dollar bacon and a side of potatoes. the food was good but the potatoes were 1/2 done which i was upset about. I did try a juice for the first time and it was so refreshing and good. you can add a shot of vitamins in the juice in which i did. I most def won't be back here, no thank you. This was my first time at the Decatur First Watch. We were seated pretty quickly for a party of eight. I did not need to use the Yelp App for check in, as there was no wait at 11:40 AM. I had the bowl of soup and half sandwich. The veggie sandwich was delicious, and the tomato basil soup was wonderful on a cold day. I picked up a bag of granola at the checkout counter for five dollars. Our waitress was extremely competent, despite the fact that our party came at several different times. This is the second time I've eaten here and the food is usually really good. Their house made preserves are absolutely delicious, the seasoned potatoes are tender and crispy, and the eggs are a hard scramble, which I like best. The chicken sausage, while good, doesn't compare to Flying Biscuit's or the DeKalb Farmer's Market, but it does the trick. The bright spot, though, is the carrot crush. Tangy, herbaceous, with a slightly sweet finish that gets the morning going just right. I highly recommend it! The reason for the four star review has little to do with the food, and most to do with the visible conflicts in the kitchen, which is open to the dining room and patrons, and the improper wearing of masks (noses out) by the cooking staff. It wouldn't make much mention if we weren't in a pandemic, and customers plates waiting to be picked up were being talked over through the pass through. Thank you, Chris for saving my day. I say day because it took two hours to be served for Bruch today 7-31-2022 at 1145-1345 hours. You are my go to Sunday Brunch restaurant. I order the same thing every time. We waited patiently for 30-minutes to be seated, OK. We ordered immediately. We waited for an hour to get our meals; no one of our meals. Of course I immediately noticed half of a half sandwich, but generous salad. The egg dish did not arrive until I lost my gentle temper and respectfully discussed the issue with Chris, the apparent head guy. A second sandwich was ordered and the egg dish was delivered and coffee was replenished. Thank you again, Chris. By the way I called in for reservations, arrived early, live 0.9 miles away and was patient with the new staff member serving us. Total time 120-minutes. Not good! It appeared that the kitchen was on break or they had snowballed the new server. Regardless, I know that you have done Better in the Past. 4 out of 5, only because of past visits. ~$11 per person. I've tried both quinoa bowls, the Croque Madame, and the Biscuits and Turkey Sausage Gravy with Eggs. Everything was good. I would say the Croque Madame was my favorite breakfast sandwich but it's only on the seasonal menu. It's basically a ham and cheese sandwich with eggs on top. I loved every last bite. The quinoa bowls are similar; one is chicken with sauce and the other is sausage with eggs on top. The are both delicious but I have to give a slight edge to the chicken because of the sauce. I was slightly sad that I didn't see shrimp and grits on the menu when I came back the second time. Even the biscuits with gravy had a good presentation and the potatoes that came with it was surprisingly different from the usual breakfast potatoes. On both occasions we came here around 8am and there was no wait. I could understand how this area would get packed during 11am on weekends. I would never choose to come here during that time. Would I come here again? I've been here twice already and I plan on coming back especially since they have a seasonal menu. If we could give a 2.5 that is what we would have given. We've been here several times and in general have been pleased with the service and food. Big menu and everything tasty. However today things were not up to par. Maybe because it was a holiday weekend, maybe because we came later than we usually do, I'm not sure. The wait to be seated was not too bad and the text was helpful. Once seated it did not take long for our server to come take our order, but the wait for food was very long. We drank the entire pot of coffee by the time we received our food. Our server did not check on us the entire time. When we finally got our food, 2 orders were for frittatas but they both arrived as omelettes. We asked the person who brought them to us and were told that these were indeed frittatas. They were really flat frittatas! I've ordered the frittata here before and it looks more like a slice of quiche so either something has changed or a deliberate decision was made in the kitchen because omelettes are faster and they hoped the customers would not know the difference. The food was tasty and fresh so no complaints there. Our server than brought the bill and it was clear she just wanted to drop it and go. Luckily we looked at it carefully because it was not for our table. However, she was gone and not coming back. We had to ask the host to try to sort out the bill situation. Overall we were very disappointed in the service today. Although the location is very convenient, we will not be coming back unless desperate. So they do get busy and that was fine as I was waiting for my guest who arrived right when they called my name. The waitress suggested there kale tonic and for a green drink it was delicious. So much I had 2. I ended up getting the avocado toast with eggs and added ham and fruits. Being busy somethings were forgotten but rectified quickly. I definitely enjoyed my meal though. We love this franchise for breakfast or brunch. The website is a tad misleading. We joined the waitlist online 20 mins prior to arrival and still had to wait an hour outside. Cocktails aren't served at most locations so I suggest you call each of their locations if you wish to have them. The food was decent, however our waiter wasn't the best, he forgot to remove an item I specifically didn't want in my dish. Quite forgetful as we keep having to repeatedly ask for things! He made a comment to my fiancé about how much food he was ordering (3 dishes) not aware my fiancé is a big eater. (Found it quite inappropriate). We prob will not attend this particular one again. I was disappointed by the meal on Mothers Day 2023. I ate her when they first opened. I usually get the same meal. This is the second time the neal was not good. The scrambled eggs looked as though they started to fry them then remembered that they were supposed to be scrambled. No seasoning at all. The potatoes had to have been made the night before and they just warmed them in the microwave. When they first opened this location the potatoes were tender as they should be. We could have gotten a better meal at the Waffle House, because I am never disappointed with their food . And it would have been half the price. We should have went to Kafinio like we did last year, but I wanted to give them a third try . Needless to say, I will not make an effort to go to the First Watch in Decatur. Ok read more
