I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! This was my first visit and I will be coming back! I hate to give it 5 stars and tell people to go (long wait next time?) but everything was fabulous! I was seated immediately upon arrival and greeted by my server Dajara (I'm sorry if I didn't spell this correctly!) She was delightful and very accommodating, coming back often to check on me, but not too often that I couldn't enjoy my meal. French toast was fantastic, and even the warm berry compote was wonderful and I'm not usually a fan of warm fruit! Bonus points for to-go coffee!! Unusually slow. I usually have a snack before I go and expect to wait ~45min for food once I sit down (the fastest I've received my food is about 20min on a quiet weekday). I usually allow myself 2 hours if I want to eat there and check in ahead of time. I have enjoyed whatever I've ordered there and like that they usually have a seasonal special so the menu doesn't get boring. They don't have espresso so if you don't like coffee + creamer, I'd bring your own. Pleasant staff. read more

First Watch on Grindstone in Columbia, Mo. took 30 minutes to get seated and another 30 minutes to be served. The restaurant is very noisy, with all the dropped and thrown dishes and utensils. I ordered the turkey sausage biscuit and gravy. It made it to the table cold. the side of cheese grits came minutes later steaming hot with no flavor. I ordered water which was served with no ice, in a small glass, tepid and chemical tasting. I reported the terrible water and cold food to the server. She asked if I wanted her to replace the entree. I refused, we were late enough already and I didn't wish to eat anything 'extra' in my dish. At checkout there was no mention of the awful experience nor any effort to remedy it. When I brought it up I was gleefully told it looked like the server was able to take the entree off the check! Surprisingly terrible experience. read more

Coming from out of town this place was recommended by a couple people we ran into. They are serving full sit down inside and out with mask requirements while you are walking around the restaurant but not required while sitting at your table and eating. Staff was wearing a mask the entire time. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was phenomenal! Portion sizes are great. They also provide some healthy alternatives if you are looking to keep the calories low or trying to be mindful of some sort of diet. Atmosphere is nice, usually with these breakfast places there are so many tables it's claustrophobic inside, but here the give you some space! Staff was super friendly as well. We had the French toast which was pretty basic, but good. Was really hoping to be wowed but I guess french toast is french toast. We also had a green chili omelet which was real good, but the avocado slices on the inside were weird. The potatoes are super good! They didn't have whole milk, which I thought was odd. When you go, whatever you get, order the millionaires bacon. There are no words to describe this bacon. Just eat it. Get a plate for yourself, don't share. It's not shareable. Be selfish. read more

Not impressed waited for over an hour on a Sunday. Got there at 9:30 was told it would be a 30-35 minute wait . Ended up being over an hour .. I actually had to go up to the seating person and ask how much longer.. she said we were 2nd in line at that point. Not even 2 minutes later we were finally seated.. For a place that's talked up around town so much, it's really plain. First off, the food has no flavor. Imagine tasting nothingness while chewing on an odd mix of textures. Burning is an issue as well in the bread, biscuits, potatoes, ham, and eggs. Eggs came out rubbery matter of fact, and instead of a runny overeasy, the yokes were hard. All the food was under a heat lamp for far too long and by the time it came to us was no longer fresh. It seems like presentation is more important than quality as each dish is picturesque when served, but nigh inedible. And to top it all off, each item is individually rung up with it's own special tax, and then added together with a new exclusive tax. When you put your items together on a single bill, each item is supposed to be added to the bill under one tax, not a taxation per dish per person then umbrellad under a new tax. I don't know, bland food, bland people (though kind), and greedy billing, we'll never be coming back. read more

The food here is mediocre at best especially for a restaurant that is supposed to specialize in breakfasts. The wait for our meal was at least 20 minutes even thought we arrived at 10:30 A.M. The waiter did not even come once during our meal to ask if there was anything we needed. The cost of the meal was outrageous, $6.00 for a pot of coffee for just my husband and I. The total cost of the breakfast for the two of us was $29.00+. The food was not even good, ham slice was thin and very dry, potatos were mushy, and as my husband said, "Never trust a gravy you can see through". Horrible hostesses. Told us our wait was going to be 30 minutes to an hour, ended up being two hours. The hostesses, specifically one, had an extreme attitude and was very unhelpful with the situation. People who came in after us got seated before us, it was extremely frustrating. Told us we were going to get one table, then we watched them give it to another party. As someone who has come to this restaurant 3 times now, I continue to be disappointed in how poorly run it is. I am shocked to see so many glowing reviews honestly. The food has been pretty good, but the service has been terrible and the wait times have been ridiculous. During our last 2 visits there have been multiple empty tables needing to be bused and only one person busing (that person is working very hard). Other staff are standing around and not helping bus tables, which has resulted in lengthy wait times in 2 or our 3 visits. The service was terrible the most recent time, the waitress blamed the kitchen but she never came back after the food was delivered to check on refills, etc. I know things are hard right now, and I appreciate finding staff I'm a college town during the pandemic is tough, but we will not return to this restaurant until they get a handle on staffing and management. read more

Well, dang....I really wanted to like First Watch but my first experience wasn't great. I ordered a salad and soup combo to go, and ended up waiting around 25 minutes for it to be ready. The salad was ok, and the soup was clumpy and seemed to be concentrate that hadn't been diluted and mixed. All in all, just mediocre. I can do much better at home. The food here is great but they seem very understaffed or just in over their heads. I ordered food to go around 11:25-11:30 and the website said it would be ready around 11:45. I go in and it's not ready yet because they are so busy, which I understand. I was told it would be another10-15 minutes. I'm sitting here 25-30 minutes after my food was supposed to be ready still not with my order. I've also seen other people who came in after me get thier Togo orders ahead of me. My order was not complicated and something pretty easy to make. If the order is going to take longer I wish they would update their times on the website so I'm not waiting here for 45 minutes, I could have been doing other things. read more

This place operates like they have zero management, one server, and one kitchen worker to handle the busy crowds of Sunday Brunch. Their waitlist system is basically a free for all, luck of the draw, whoever b!tches the most gets seated first kinda system. Not only did I wait 2 hours after putting my name in online, but I witnessed countless other groups get seated inside before me. Finally, after going inside to say something 3 times they offered to sit me outside, to which I said sure because I was tired of waiting. To top things off, I waited outside to see a server for 15 minutes and no one showed up. So, I packed my shit up and walked out after wasting 2 and a half hours of my Sunday dealing with complete stupidity. And then I wasted another 10 minutes of my life describing how bad this place sucks on this app. Happy Sunday everyone! read more

They have plenty of space between tables to feel comfortable eating indoors and also offer patio seating. April's service was friendly and attentive. Health- conscious, fresh menu items. We had a horrible experience from the time we walked in to get on a waiting list until we paid the bill. Told it was a 35-40 minute not a problem we waited in the car waiting on a text. We viewed the menu while we waited. I had eaten at a At Louis location about a year ago. So I wanted to order what I had ordered before. At the 40minute wait time we went back in to check on where we were on the wait list. Was told it would be another 15minutes due to people calling ahead seating. Which I know isn't how other business handle the call ahead in house seating order. 3minutes later our table is ready. We order My husband orders the chickichanga, I the farm stand tacos. We waited 40minutes for our meal to arrive. The tacos I had ordered were nothing, At repeat nothing like what I had at First Watch in St. Louis. It was not scrambled eggs it was a hard cooked egg with burnt edges. I lifted the whole egg out of the shell to pick off the burnt edges. We could not wait another 40mins to have this recooked at this point we have been an 1hour 40minutes into this experience. The tacos were awful they were flavorless. Waiter never even checked on us during the time the food was on our table. He didn't even deliver it, someone else did. We seen him as he brought the bill. At this point I would not recommend this Columbia Missouri restaurant to anyone I know. read more

I will be honest, I am a HUGE fan of First Watch. I have been here a couple of times and had great food and service. Today was not my first Sunday here (always packed so I assumed to have a wait). I was here in a party of 5 and waited a little over an hour to be sat (again I assumed this would happen and we were prepared to wait that long, no big deal). We were all ready to order after our waitress brought our drinks and then continued to wait for 45 minutes before our food came. She came by our table only once within this time and said "we're making progress" and laughed (I'm assuming she was talking about our food?). She finally brought our food and the pancake was crunchy. I am not one to send food back but I knew this was not normal for First Watch. I kindly sent it back and the second one was much much better but she never apologized for the initial pancake. All of our meals came with potatoes and unfortunately most of them were not cooked all the way through and again disappointing. Like I said, I know it's crazy on Sundays, but I've been here several times and was very surprised to have this type of service. read more
