Checked out the newest location of First Watch during their soft opening. This took over what used to be a Ruby Tuesday. The newly renovated restaurant decor gives it a fresh look. Our server was good and the wait time for our food was pretty average. Everything was well prepared and as expected. The portions are a good size but the waffle and French Toast don't come with any sides. You have to add eggs or whatever you want seperately. I think they will do well in south riding. We love enjoying breakfast and brunch at First Watch Restaurants - they're consistently the best in the area where they're located! This location was no different!! We came here on a Sunday morning, soon after they opened. For the first time, I tried an omelet, ordering their chorizo omelet and it was great! The egg was cooked perfectly! The flavors were great! And the dish was huge! We also tried a lemon ricotta pancake and my wife said it was probably the best pancake she's ever had! Their turkey sausage gravy over their biscuit was amazing! I've been to first watch many times but this time was just simply...ok. The million dollar bacon felt a bit more sweet than normal and while the strawberry tres leches French toast was good, after a while of eating I got a little bit bored of the flavor. It is pricey which I normally feel is justified but today felt a little lackluster.Still the ambiance was nice and the service was efficient considering we went on a packed Saturday morning so I would still give it a 3-3.5 star rating. read more

I ordered the elevated egg sandwich and he ordered the eggs Benedict. We respect the service industry especially after working in the past. The waitress did not have enough patience to wait for him to finish his order and I had to step in when she repeated the wrong one back to him. She didn't check on us until the end of breakfast. The food - my smashed avocado was cold along with the bun. The potatoes were still raw and inedible, but the worst was that on both our plates the eggs - yolks AND whites were completely raw on the inside. I talked to them in case the cook was new. They did not offer to comp the meal and were closing in 20 minutes so they couldn't remake it. We come here weekly but will now frequent other restaurants for brunch. read more

Easy to find and abundant parking available in the area. They do get you in line through google but during rush expect the wait time to be more than estimated in app. They do accommodate walk-ins but I would still prefer that you get in line using google's join waitlist and then confirm with the front desk that you are there. I like this location for their quick turnaround. They do not leave any table empty unlike other locations. Ambiance is nice, wooden seats are cushioned well, tables height is decent and atmosphere is a bit loud during rush. You also get a view of the kitchen for some of the tables. The glass walls on either side of the restaurant helps to make it feel fresh. Food is great and mostly consistent. In recent times I have felt the taste isn't consistent. Overall it will leave you satisfied. Menu has a lot of items to select from. You're spoilt for choices. Million dollar bacon is a must if you eat it. Juices are nice. I especially liked the morning mediation. Cures the hangover thirst. Service and friendly staff will make it a good experience. If you are regular at some other first watch location, the quantity and content might differ. There's also slight difference in taste but you'll only notice if you're a super taster. One of the worst experiences I have ever received at an establishment. Started off with the host blatantly lying about our reservation while giving us a huge attitude the entire time. Whatever your issue is, you do not take it out on patrons. I calmly said I received a text (not even 30 seconds ago) saying my table is ready. He immediately gave us attitude saying we missed our table and go sit back down. The service was non-existent, and the waitress had her fingers IN THE CUPS when bringing us water. Disgusting!!! The barely passable prison food took an eternity to come out as well. The G.M. reached out later to make an apology and offered vouchers, that was also an utter disaster and couldn't even be mailed out in a timely manner. First Watch and their staff is an utter disgrace of a restaurant and I hope no one else wastes their time and money here. read more

Worst Service I Have Ever Had. Went there today for breakfast. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. for our reservation for three adults. It was maybe 1/3 full, so lots of extra wait staff standing around with not that many customers. We were promptly seated, and then completely ignored and forgotten. After several waiters walked past our table every minute or so for 15 minutes with no one approaching our table for water and coffee orders, I got up and politely asked the hostess to please ask our waiter to come to our table. Four or five parties who came in after us had already been helped and had already placed food orders I mentioned to her. She said she would get our waiter. I sat back down and no waiter for another five minutes. I got back up and asked for the manager, who, when I approached him, he said he was busy right now doing an interview. I reminded him, that customers should be his focus, and my table was customers. He replied he was busy. So I went back to my table. Our waiter finally showed up, took out coffee order, return with coffee that was undrinkable. Burned and too strong. All three of us said the coffee was too strong and asked for fresh coffee. I asked the waiter for the manager. The same manager as before, AJ, appeared with fresh coffee, and we finally got a food order in. Food was just fine. The waiter was pretty much absent. No water on the table, no one picking up plates that we were finished with. I asked the waiter for three waters, and he brought them. By this time, we were finished with breakfast. The waiter was pleasant, but we really should not have to lead the waiter and the manager to success. The food was good, but wow, the management of and training of the staff from what we experienced was enough to never recommend First Watch to any of our friends and family. read more

Took 45 min to be seated at the table (i understand everyone wants brunch on sat morning), then 10 min for the waitress to get our order in (i suspect the hostess may not communicate with the waitress) because i had to walked in and asked for the waitress (we seated at patio). kitchen must be super busy so it took another 40 min to get our food. I understand egg Benedict with burned hash brown would take 40 min but salad and soup with a side of strawberries with a 40 min prep is pushing it. Not going back here. Had the pleasure of coming to First swatch for breakfast yesterday morning/afternoon. There wasn't a wait. I hadn't dined in in a couple of years so decided to give it a try again. Our server was James, he was very knowledgeable of the menu (i had a lot of questions) and when they're we're out if an item I wanted he suggested options instead. Our food came out pretty fast and was sooo good, love the maple bacon. Also the breakfast tacos are a must. James was super patient (because my boyfriend kept asking for stuff). I've heard a lot of great things about First Watch and how it is a go to for brunch. They have healthy options that focus on quality than quantity. We decided to check it out on a Sunday morning to get the day started and I must say... the experience was average for me. I ordered the breakfast tacos which which tasty and each taco was pretty stuffed. The beans that came on the side were very bland almost tasting like it came right from the can. We also got the salmon frittata that came with almost no salmon and was basically a 2 egg omelet. This was pretty disappointing because it lacked flavor even with the sauce on top. They were also offering speciality lemonades so we decided to get the blueberry lemonade. You wouldn't know the lemonade had any blueberries in it (strange) because the drink came out blue/purple. I will save the staff and whole environment was pretty nice and welcoming. I'm not sure if this would be my first choice for brunch in the future but I'm glad I at least got to check it out. read more

I regret having to write a low-star review for First Watch, because from past experience at other locations, when it's good, it's really good. Oh, but when it's bad, it's really bad. This was my first visit to this new location, and I was incredibly excited that First Watch had opened closer to home. The physical location was nice...open, bright, and roomy, unlike the other Chantilly location at the Greenbriar shopping center. Service was friendly enough, but because it was just me, not as attentive as it should have been. Kinda like drop the food and run because she already knew I wasn't going to be happy. I ordered a familiar staple for most breakfast/brunch menus--the ol' eggs bennie with sauce on the side. What I got looked like a dried up, open faced ham & egg sammie with a side of warm, wilted greens with super sour dressing. The only way I can sum it up is that it was gross, but I was starving and ate it anyway. An expensive upset stomach. I regretted eating it, and the food experience left me with a poignant memory that will keep me away from this First Watch location. After looking at the photos from other yelpers who visited this location, I'm fairly confident this wasn't a fluke. The food in those photos do not look very appetizing and do not look as good as what I've seen come out of the kitchen at the Chantilly/Greenbriar and in Fairfax locations. I really want to like this location, but right now, I don't. I love coffee, and the coffee at this location on this particular day was disgusting. A very acidic cup from start to finish. No amount of sweetner and cream could save it. I'm not good for much without a good cup of coffee, and I left unrevved and with a soured palate. Bottom line: Sooooo disappointed. Basic menu items unmastered. The expected quality of the food from past experience is on the level of farm-to-table, but what I got was low-budget- greasy-spoon-on-the-side-of-the-road-in-the-most-remote-area-serving-processed-food-only quality. located where the Ruby Tuesday used to be, a renovated First Watch can be found now! in the same shopping center where the Home Depot, Panera Bread and Giant are, it's a great addition to the South Riding area IMO. *we came on the weekend they had their soft opening for training their staff so please don't expect 5 star service as a lot of their service team is still in training* this is really different than any other First Watch, but I've only been to two other ones so what do I know haha this First Watch has been renovated into a farmhouse style eatery and I am here for it. it's modern, hipster and spacious with their open ceilings. I love that they have bar seating in the front and spread out tables in the dining area. it doesn't feel crowded or stuffy. we ordered coffee which came with a coffee carafe for your refilling pleasure, Purple Haze, kids bacon and egg, chorizo sunrise sandwich, biscuits and gravy and Floridian french toast. my daughter enjoyed her meal - ate all her eggs and bacon shockingly & had some fruit. I'm always skeptical of ordering fruit at a restaurant because the strawberries always look like they're about to start molding and the blueberries look off, but the fruit they give you actually looked fresh. I didn't get moldy looking strawberries and my daughter had fresh grapes not soft ones. the Floridian toast was delicious. topped with strawberries, bananas and kiwis with a side of strawberry jam, it was a perfect French toast. now onto my husband, I thought I enjoyed my meal. he took one bite out of his chorizo sunrise sandwich and said, "holy shit, this is good!". he would not shut up about how good his burger was and how surprised he was as how much he's enjoying it. he's already planning our visit back to get it again. by the end of the meal, my husband and I were full and content. we don't remember enjoying our meal at First Watch like this. we're glad iHop is no longer the only breakfast option in this area. like stated before, wait staff was in training so there was a supervisor around and everyone else rushed around. they were all super friendly and multiple people came up to us to ask if there was anything else we needed. since this was a soft opening, reservations were required and I noticed a few people getting turned away at the door. highly recommend everyone checking out First Watch South Riding when they open on 03/21! read more

Knowing how packed a typical First Watch can be on a weekend, Hubby and I decided to go on a Wednesday morning to avoid a two hour wait. We got right in but there was still a good number of diners. The good things were very good. The food was excellent and fresh. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The industrial chic decor was well done and pleasant to the eye. The two things that we weren't thrilled with were 1) it was really cold inside. So cold that when the hot food came to the table it only took about 90 seconds for it to become cold as well. 2) it was super loud (as places with industrial decor tend to be) but it was so loud that even sitting across from one another my husband and I couldn't have a conversation without raised voices. We didn't address either of these issues with anyone because I think it may just be how it is and could be more subjective on our part.
