First Watch forever holds a special place in my heart. Everything I have had here is fantastic. And i've gone here almost every weekend for months. That's just how good it is. I usually get the Monterey Club with turkey, bacon, avocado, cheese, and mayo on sourdough bread. With a side of potatoes of course. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the best potatoes I've ever had. We loved this place so much that we bought their cookbook -- haven't used it yet because instead, we end up just GOING there and not cooking it Nothing will ever be as good as the real thing. read more

As you can see from my past reviews, I haven't had much satisfaction with this location previously, and have pretty much avoided coming here ever since. I did recently receive an e-mail for a free birthday meal, so I decided to come back and give them another try, I ordered the "Elevated Egg Sandwich," and for the first time, I actually enjoyed my meal at this location (although I thought the potatoes could've been warmer). As it was a free meal (still had to pay for the coffee however), I was pretty happy for it, but if I would've had to pay full price, (total was around $14 before discount), I probably would've been less happy ... seems a little pricey for a gourmet breakfast sandwich (with cold potatoes) and coffee. My boyfriend and I have been on a First Watch kick and the first 2,3 times were delicious! I'm that person who orders the same thing at a restaurant, but the quality and freshness of the food here makes me want to switch it up every time! (Quick side note, I do not eat tomatoes, but I could eat a whole bowl of their tomatoes because you can tell how fresh and sweet they are!) Unfortunately, our last visit was not as pleasant. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes with the side of turkey sausage and eggs. Everything was cold. Not just cooked down...cold. My boyfriend ordered The Works omelet and it was also cold. He couldn't even eat it, and that's rare for him! We explained the situation to the hostess and she was nice enough to cover the cost, but I am hesitant to visit First Watch again. This is a very busy breakfast/brunch location. There has not been a time where the wait was under 30-45 mins. As other reviews and tips suggest, 100% use Yelp or No Wait to get in line before you arrive. Visited First Watch while in Pittsburgh- it was one of the closest brunch places near our hotel and decided to pay a visit. What a nice and pleasant surprise- walking in you see a big open space with lots of seating. At first glance on their site I was expecting a faster pace eatery with fast service. It was nice to walk-in to a sit down restaurant. I'm not from the area, but it appears First Watch is new to the area and might be part of a chain? Either way this did not matter, as the staff was on point with their service and flexible with us when our group grew from 2 to 7. I ordered the smoked salmon on toast with capers and avocado- it was delicious! The toast appears thick on their photo- I was afraid it would be too dense, but it was the perfect combo of soft and thickness. My bf had the biscuits and gravy and was very happy. They have a large menu with many options and also serve a variety of fresh green and healthy juices. We had a long drive ahead of us, so we wanted a solid breakfast on our way south from Pittsburgh. They'd opened a First Watch near our house that had hosted a YEE, so I thought it would be a solid option to try. I was worried that it was all a little too nice for my rambunctious 4yo, but we managed. We arrived before 8am on a Saturday and the space was only about 1/3 full. We got a booth on the back "wall" to the kitchen - which is actually open to their coffee and expediting stations. We skipped straight to the main event - no juice or fancy toast. For the boys we got a regular pancake (they tried to offer a chocolate chip one, but I firmly declined) and french toast. Both come with bacon and drink for the kid combo. I chose the Tri-Athlete (egg white omelet with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and green chillies, served with pico, toast, and fruit) and Jimmy got the Chickichanga (whipped eggs with chicken, chorizo , green chilies, cheese, onions and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla, topped with sauce and sour cream, served with potatoes and fruit). Chai pancakes were delicious. Not a huge chai flavor but they were still amazing! Topped with fresh raspberries and bananas and bananas throughout the batter. Where has this place been all this time?! It's definitely my favorite brunch spot in the south hills even though it's a chain. We came on a Saturday around 11:00 AM and we had put our names on the waitlist. The wait wasn't too bad as there were also some small tables available outside. Our waitress was attentive even though she had to manage numerous tables at the same time. We ordered the rainbow toast (seasonal), chocolate chip pancakes and skillet hash farmhouse. I absolutely loved the skillet hash farmhouse. The eggs were so fresh and it was such great combination of flavors. It comes with the skillet, toast and fruit. The rainbow toast was also delicious!! Meh. Still not getting this place. We tried to use the 'no-wait' app before we went and it said that there was no wait, so we headed to the restaurant. When our friend showed up there was a wait, but she was told not to put her name on the list, because the app would be quicker to be seated. She had trouble downloading the app, and before she got it to work a few groups came in and made it on to the paper list before her... we were all seated after them. I don't get it. There's a sign that says free coffee while you wait, but there was no coffee... just cups and creamer. There was still no coffee there when we left, either. The food was fine. Nothing to go out of my way for. We tried different stuff this time around - choc chip pancake, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit. I'm surprised at the high rating on this place. There are other places to get breakfast. The last poor review of this place I left was met with a nice manager's response for a free meal... but I didn't try to cash that in because it's been years since I was here (I'm not local)... I had a skillet hash which was delicious and served with toast and fruit! We also had the biscuit with the turkey sausage gravy - it was a huge serving and delicious. I am always a fan of First Watch and really appreciated that they had coffee while we waited and that the staff there was able to fit in a table for 12. We had to end up splitting into two tables that were next to each other but didn't have to wait too long and still enjoyed ourselves. The Farmhouse Skillet is always amazing and multiple people in our group raved over it. The Million Dollar Bacon was essentially just syrup on bacon but it was still good. I would recommend staying away from lunch if you're coming in for brunch because I think their breakfast offerings are much better than lunch. They don't have alcohol for their brunch but their juices more than make up for it! read more

We were really tempted to order off of the breakfast menu, but decided to go with their sandwiches. I had the Monterey Club, which was piled high with turkey, bacon, and avocado and my friend had to the Roast Beef and Havarti. Both sandwiches came with a side of mixed greens or the soup. The food and service here are great the only problem is the dishes are always dirty, especially the carafes. I've decided to start posting pictures of the dirty carafes, which are dirty at least 80% of the time. My hope is that, by posting pictures of the dirty containers that this first watch serves their water in, the manager will take note and try to remember this issue which they continue to face. We just moved to the area from nowhere near this area, stopped in because we were between breakfast and lunch, no one could decide what they wanted and remembered seeing this place and very interested in their menu options. Came in as a larger party (6 of us) food was wonderful, my kids ordered chocolate chip pancakes and eggs and bacon. My egg lover devoured her eggs, the others happily ate their chocolate chip pancakes, I stole a bite and they didn't disappoint. I ordered roast beef and a pecan salad, love the dressing on the salad and the sand which was great too!! Loved that the tomato and onion wasn't raw but perfect in combination with my half sandwich. My husband opted for a ham & gruyere omelet and greens; it did not disappoint. Our server was great, super friendly and I appreciated her taking the time to answer questions I had regarding my order. I have been here twice and both times I thought meh...this place is just meh....I believe I got the roast beef sandwich with horseradish the first time...I can't really remember....it was just ok; it sure didn't make an impression on me. That's why I can't remember. I went back with a group of co workers and I got the ham and gruyere omelet, with a side order of this bs bacon that was caked in syrup. I can make a better omelet. The bread wasn't toasted, and then why would you serve a small arugula salad with it???? Everything was just meh... It took our server at least 10 minutes to take even ask what we would like to drink. The cost of this food is really what gets me, very average food that cost ALOT. This is a great First Watch location. Note that on weekend mornings, tables will start filling up shortly after they open. I usually arrive around 7:15 on Saturday mornings when tables are still available; if you plan on arriving later, definitely take advantage of the online check-in option. I've tried a variety of the menu items, both breakfast and lunch. The Eggs Benedict (with potatoes) & Egg White Omelets are my favorites for breakfast, and the 2 for you is always great for lunch. So the last time I went there we waited an hour and 15 mins for a table. This time we got in line online. It said 45-60 mins. Ok. So we headed within a half hour. Get there and check in. I was told 10 to 15 mins at that point. Ok great. 45 mins later still no table. I ask where we were in line and they said we were next. Finally get seated at my most hated table in the place. The tiny 2 person table with my daughter. It can barely fit the coffee mugs and coffee pot on the table with the usual salt and pepper etc. I am hungry so I will deal with it. Took 10 mins to even get our drink order in. Still Ok, they are busy. Finally order all our food. Our waitress did not bring the food out, another waitress did. So she brought the main dishes but not the bacon. Since she was NOT our waitress I said ohh we had bacon too. She gets snippy and says I only have 2 hands! I ask my daughter if it was just me or was she rude, she said oh she was rude. Now I am respectful of waiters and waitresses as my daughter is a waitress also. But this response was not warranted. I am done with First Watch and will take my business further down the road to Billie Ann's in Cecil.
