This is actually a very well debated three stars because I do like the food. Since they have opened their service has gotten quite slow and the food has been inconsistent. Today my basted eggs were very well done, my friends dayglo juice was mostly carrot juice, no detectable ginger and the food came out barely warm... Reordered the English muffin which took about 20 minutes ... Received it long after finished the meal. Service was slow, as has become the norm. As much as I enjoy the food this is not a place to eat when you have something else to do. read more

What a pleasant surprise. This place has been on my radar for a while and I'm so glad we finally tried it out. There was a 25 minute wait and they texted us when our table was ready. They also offer complimentary coffee in the waiting area, which I appreciated. My entire table was in the mood for Belgian waffles. The waffles were light, crisp and served with a warm mixed berry compote that I really enjoyed. They do have syrup if you prefer. It comes out warm in the bottle which is an excellent touch. My husband ordered breakfast potatoes that were just okay, some of them were underdone and a little under seasoned. The bacon was good, nothing too exciting. To drink I decided on the kale tonic which was delicious. The staff was very warm and friendly. We will return. read more

We came here for Brunch. At first there were posts of people waiting however they took my name and said they would text me when a table was ready. We then sashayed over to a store in the vicinity and lost complete track of time, as we were told the wait time was 30-45 minutes. Upon arrival we were seated quickly and the server came by to great up promptly. The atmosphere was mixed and wasn't catered to any groups of people, except those that like breakfast, lunch or brunch. I ordered the Turkey Burger with potatoes instead of mixed salad as my side. I knew it was a good choice when the servers lighted up with happiness. I'm glad I did because it was rather tasty, especially since I'm not a fan of putting avocado on sandwiches even when paired with meats. We came here on a weekday, and I was surprised at having to wait for a table. As I recall, we were even there at an odd hour--- late for breakfast but early for lunch. There were tables open, so I asked why there was a wait and was told that the kitchen was the hold up. Obviously they have more tables than the kitchen can manage, so something has to change. This comment has been made in several other reviews and the receptionist seemed annoyed by my question, so she probably gets it a lot. Nonetheless, I'd rather wait at a table and have some juice or coffee than sit at an uncomfortable bench up front. (The blast of cool air every time the door opened was a welcomed relief, but probably not so in the winter.) While we waited, a large group behind us asked to sit at the long table in the front that was still dirty. I think they were asking only to wait there, but I was concerned that they would jump queue and be waited on since they were already seated. I read in another review that you can sit there and avoid the wait. I guess it's a communal table?? Once seated, everything went fairly well. We didn't have to wait unusually long for anything, but by then the place wasn't very crowded. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes, which were delicious, but were delivered without syrup or butter. My friend ordered the frittata, which didn't look much like a frittata, but she said it was good. I also got the "morning glorious" juice mix (I think that's what it was called) and it was delicious. Checking out was a bit of a wait. The hostess is also the cashier, and I and another gentleman had to wait about 5 minutes to pay. This, when it wasn't very busy. I hope they add another person during peak times because if I have to wait much longer than that, standing at the front, in everyone's way, I might be inclined to walk out without paying. read more

Recently moved to the area and this place is a gem in Bowie! Fresh farm to table concept I found to be well executed. The menu options are very diverse and delicious. There is something of everyone with perfect portion sizes. For those looking for something more jazzed up than OJ, recommend any of the morning juice refreshers. I used to love going to First Watch but that all changed yesterday. Went on Good Friday for a nice family brunch ... even after using their website to put our name on the waitlist we were made to wait 15 minutes, ok it was understandable. It took 10-15 minutes for our server to show up after we had been seated; she took our order and got our drinks out fairly quickly but didn't bother to ask us for waters, didn't come back to give us an update or ask us for anything else. Then the wait for the food, well, it was long -- 1 hour long! We had 2 hungry kids with us who had a hard time waiting that long but they didn't have a choice. We asked for some toast in the meantime for the kids, that wasn't brought out. So finally the food started showing up; poorly presented; sorry looking frittata and the toast was missing. We'd also requested sourdough toast instead and that never made an appearance. We had gotten so hungry with the extra wait that we had to order extra food items. The lemon ricotta pancakes were great; the frittata rustica was sorry looking and the skillet hash was ok -- it's the most average food I've had at First Watch. Poor management and low attention to service were clearly visible yesterday. The server told us that she was looking after a subsection of maybe 6-8 tables by herself but showing up once in 30 minutes to circle with us, that didn't seem like a tall order. I think the Bowie location has become complacent as they are always busy and take their customer base for granted. I will not return on holidays as they are clearly not equipped to handle busy days, I'll seriously reconsider going back, in general, after this most recent experience. read more

I had to go twice before I wrote this review. The first time that I went I ordered a Monte Cristo and they brought me a very healthy version of the sandwich. It was good but I had the thought of Bennigan's version in my head so I walked out full and disappointed. I came back a second time with my sister and had the Egg Avocado and hash bowl... Second try at First Watch, originally experienced in Florida (similar results). This time in Bowie, MD was looking forward to at nice meal. Admittedly the food was very good, however the service was so poor I am not clear if they feel customers are a necessary part of their business. Long wait for a table, mostly becasue they were slow in clearing tables after customers left. When seated we counted 5 tables uncleared for over 30 minutes. Wait staff took 15 minutes to approach our table, food took one hour. Drinks arrived 15 minutes after the initial order was taken. Plenty of staff standing around mostly conversing with each other. First Watch must feel they are special and customers require no attention. No respect for customers time, just their money. Sad. read more

First, let me say that the restaurant was so open, with a airy ambiance. I liked the variety of seating to accommodate a variety of groups or solo customers. I decided to try the Day Glow first because of reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. It did not disappoint. It was flavorful, fresh, and refreshing. I ordered the Trifecta.. Which was waffles/ pancakes, eggs and your chick of meat. I chose the waffle and bacon, however the waffle was a bit soggy. I think I will go back, but try something for lunch. read more

Discovered First Watch based on co-worker comments, so glad I was noisy and ease dropping ... The Avacodo Omlette was amazing, suggest grabing a slice to French Toast as a side. I LOVE First Watch! My first experience was with a waitress named Jen in Bowie, MD. She was amazing! & the weird thing is that for a while, she ended up being my waitress every time I came. Amazing experience this morning. My brother and I came out for breakfast and we couldn't have selected a better spot. When I called they warned us it might be a 30 min wait. When we walked in the door we were greeted by Kelly who immediately sat us and also served us. She was excellent at recommending great choices. The food, the trio combo, (French toast, eggs, & side of meat) was fresh and the perfect choice. Accompanied by a side of grits that would make you smack your kids!!! Also, the millionaire bacon..... Good Lawd!!!! This is the type of service and food that almost makes you forget that we're in a pandemic. A perfect combination of hospitality and good eats! Monday at 10:30am and no wait! Our waitress was excellent customer service! The morning meditation was delicious and full of tumeric, ginger, beet, orange, agave nectar and lemon! I've been in a search of a good and healthy brunch place that's not in DC and thank God I've found it. I love the decor and the staff is always so friendly. The first time I went i got chocolate chip pancakes which were good but too chocolatey for me. So my second visit, I decided to try the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict and let me tell you how awesome it was. The salmon wasn't fishy at all. It was just wonderful along with beautiful presentation.
