We had a few shingles blow off the roof during a wind storm. I mad a few calls on that Friday and Jerry was the only one who answered. He was quick to address the issue and let me know he would be by first thing on Monday. Monday morning he was there first thing. He looked it over and gave me an estimate for $240. Meanwhile, another roofing company returned my call. The other company that shall remain nameless told me they received 100 calls over the weekend and at this point they were getting the roof "water tight" and giving estimates. To get the roof water tight would run $250 alone. Needless to say the other company seems to be wanting to take advantage of people. Jerry completed the work as promised. I've had a couple of leaky windows in my first floor condo for a while. I contacted numerous companies and could never get anyone to do so much as answer an email or be willing to come out and take a look. When I contacted Jerry, he responded to me that very same day! He happened to be working a few blocks from my house and popped over quickly just to take a look at the problem. Turns out the windows just needed to be re-caulked on the outside because the caulking had deteriorated pretty badly. After that we had to schedule and then re-schedule the work a few times because it kept raining and he couldn't do the work if the windows were wet. He was very good at communicating through the process and finally when things dried out he was able to come and re-caulk the windows. The work seemed simple and straight forward and was done quickly. A few days later it rained and Jerry actually called me to make sure everything was OK and that we didn't have any leaks. (We didn't, yay!) I can't comment on price because I wasn't able to get anyone else to come out to even give a quote, but I think Jerry was worth the price because of how easy he was to work with. Jerry and his team replaced our roof this morning. They arrived on time at 7am and were ready to work. They were done by 11am. His crew was professional, fast and they left the outside of our home spotless. The roof looks great and they installed the flashing properly this time. Our old roofer cut corners on the flashing 15 years ago and we experienced minor leaks periodically. The workmanship looks great! I can't think of a negative thing to say about my experience with Jerry Bednarski, who did all the siding, caulking, and roofing work himself on my house. Not only was he courteous, diligent, on-time and thorough, but he was respectful and concerned about a birds' nest near the roofline and went out of his way to not harass the animals. In any case, he fixed a long-standing problem on the roof, patched up a hole in a hard-to-reach corner of the house, and caulked the heck out of the siding, fascia, and soffits in short order. On a 95 degree day. While it's too early to tell if his work will achieve the intended effect (keeping mice from hiding out in our attic and walls), he clearly put in a professional effort and followed through on his promises. I hope I won't have any siding or roofing needs in the near future, but if anybody else does, I would recommend Jerry. read more

Jerry is a great contractor! It's amazing how most contractors can't meet minimal business requirements and Jerry exceeds them: 1. Answer the phone or return your message. It's amazing how many contractor blow off your call. Not Jerry he normally answers his phone or returns your in reasonable amount of time. 2. Show up on time or communicate your adjusted time of arrival. How many times has a guy arrived to do your job and they are hours late. Jerry is the exception. It began to rain an hour before our appointment (can't get on roof) so he text me to see if we could reschedule to the same day. We rescheduled successfully. The key is he contacted me earlier with a plan. 3. Provide a service at market cost. Ok this is where Jerry really surprised me. Not only did he come out on a Saturday to look at the job. He offered me three options. 1. Free (yes free) give advice and tell which I would need to use to complete the project myself. 2. Easy cheaper way to fix the problem for awhile. Most people would have chose this option and I understand why. 3. Most expensive (still a great price) permanent fix. Jerry actually recommended I go the cheaper route. It was less money in pocket but more economical for me. I chose to go with the permanent fix but I'm anal. Jerry came through on time and completed the with no drama. Got the Job DONE! We've been having problems with our skylights for 18 months - and had various professionally certified roofers, etc, have a go at fixing the problem. My contractor finally recommended Jerry - I wish we had worked with him in the first place! While I was skeptical given my track record, Jerry was confident, clear, and specific about how he would fix the problem. In addition to that, he guaranteed his work, and without my asking , followed up several times to ensure that the skylights were working as they should. I highly recommend him. I recently hired Jerry to wrap 13 windows and repair some siding that had been damaged on my house. Jerry came by and gave me a good quote, showed up early and got the job done quickly. I needed a roofer to investigate two minor problems... a mysterious leak around my chimney on the 2nd floor and an intermittent garage drip. Jerry got back to me the same day I called and set up an appointment for the following day. He quickly sussed out both problems, recommending a new roof for the garage (pointing out that a patch wouldn't make sense because the roof in place was disintegrating) and showing me how I might be able to patch the small gap he found around my chimney... I really appreciate his honesty and willingness to point out a minor repair I might be able to do myself. Since I am a little wary of my abilities crawling out onto a peaked roof, he agreed to do the patch himself while his crew was replacing the garage roof. Jerry was able to schedule his crew to arrive the following Wednesday (he had visited the previous Friday to provide a quote), which was fantastic... I don't understand why the reviews for Jerry are so good. This guy was completely unprofessional and a jerk. I called him to come out and take a look at our roof. He told me he was really busy, but to give him a call back in a month (he was reasonably pleasant). Since the matter wasn't urgent and because his reviews were good, I set a reminder in my calendar, and I called him back. A month later, I tried scheduling an appointment, he doesn't call me back. After I leaving a message and not hearing from him for a week (even though his voicemail says he'll call you back within 4 hours- lies!), I catch him on the phone. He agrees to come out to inspect the roof. Within an hour, I call back and ask if we could reschedule for another day. Once again, he doesn't call back. I have to call him back on the day of our originally scheduled appointment to make sure he's not coming, and to get him to reschedule. These are his words: "M'aam, I don't do roofing inspections. You need to call an inspector for that. I am BUSY. I have work to do." Seriously, WTF? Are you, or are you not a roofing contractor? Did I not call you over a month ago- could you have not told me then that you don't do roofing inspections? And what is up with the attitude? And you're probably thinking I have nothing better to do than get my roof fixed... that I'M not "busy". Absolutely do NOT recommend this guy. Even without the 'tude, you can't trust that he's going to call you back. Thank you, Jerry for being an idiot so that i don't turn any money over to you. Jerry first came out to repair our siding and a soffit after a winter wind storm. He was quick to come out (same day!) In the process, he mentioned that our roof was in need of replacement. This was, indeed, true. We had just purchased the house, and the inspector warned us of the same. He did not charge us to repair the soffit, because it would have only been a band-aid fix until the roof was taken care of. I appreciated his honesty. So, over the summer, he replaced our roof on the house and garage. It was done in 2 days. We weren't required to be at home. His price was in line with other quotes we received. The thing I liked best about working with Jerry: speed of communication. He quickly answered questions via text (generally within minutes), which was great since my husband and I are quite busy, and this was an efficient way to get the job done. read more

We needed to replace our garage roof. Jerry was quick to respond to my initial call. He was accommodating when it came to scheduling a time to meet and was quick to provide an estimate that was very fair and less than others we had received. Scheduling a time for him to come and complete the work was effortless as well. He and another worker arrived on time, early in the morning and were done with the entire roof, plus a silver coat by 3:30 pm. They cleaned up their mess and you'd never know that our garage roof was torn off and reinstalled by how clean it was when they left. They also provided a warranty. We contacted Jerry for a quote to repair our roof, where quite a few shingles needed to be replaced due to recent storms. He made an assessment within two days, gave us a very reasonable quote compared to two others we called, and completed the work within a day of giving us the quote! He took pics of the roof after completion, gave a generous 5-year warranty on his repair, and provided good documentation for our condo records. I was looking for a roofer to do our flat roof. Jerry came in last winter to give me quote for temporary patch up and over lay our flat roof. I contacted him recently to ask some more questions and he responds"I would have to come back and take a look at it one more time I simply can't remember everything. Also the price will be different" so, I thought he was willing to do the job. I asked if he could answer if he can pull the permits and few other question that he can answer without looking at the roof and he replies, "I really cannot say". I didn't understand what he meant by that so I asked him, if he can just tell me if he can pull the permit, he replies "No". And then he sent me anther email saying "I am NOT doing this project" I think how he communicate is very unprofessional, he could of just said he doesn't have the time for our roof but he starts with the price will be different and he needs to come to see the roof again, which he doesn't even plant to. I am glad that I found out how he treat his potential clients and relieved that we are not working with him. read more

I replaced some windows in my house last year, and I needed to have the exteriors capped. I contacted First Siding based on the mostly good reviews here. Jerry called me back quickly and asked me to text him photos of the house. Over the next 15 minutes he gave me a quote by text and promised to have the job done by a certain date (about 2.5 weeks out). His quote was a little higher than I'd received from others, but accepted because of the short lead time. I specified the one limitation is that the work could not start before 9am because I have a neighbor that doesn't like noise before 9. He agreed that was no problem. The process was so painless, I thought everything was going to go great. When the deadline was approaching and I hadn't heard from Jerry, I texted him to confirm when the work would be done. Long & short, it took several texts to get him to pin down a day to do the work. He finally told me the crew would be coming on a Saturday in the afternoon. The day of the work, my mother was here visiting and we had arranged our schedule around the work being done in the afternoon. That morning everyone in the house was awoken by hammering at 8am. Not only had Jerry told me the work would be done after noon, but I had *specifically* informed him no work was to be done before 9am. When Jerry came by to pick up the check after the job was done, I let him know I wasn't at all happy about the early morning noise, and that I'd be taking some heat from my neighbor. He never apologized. He also misremembered the quoted price and asked for $50 more than he had quoted me. Luckily I still had the text on my phone so I only paid the quoted price. He gave me his business card and told me I should tell others about them, which I found odd considering how obviously annoyed I was. I do have to admit that the crew did a very nice job, which is why this isn't a 1-star review. read more

This is a small house exterior company run by an individual named Jerry. He was willing to do two small repair jobs and put a cap on my chimney (under $600). He put the care into the finished project as though it was his house. The repair looks as good as new and was completed within two weeks (weather permitting) of first contacting him. Jerry was great. I had a small project where wind blew off a piece of aluminum off a fascia board. Many companies wouldn't respond to such a small project...especially with it being the week of the 4th of July. I contacted First Siding and although Jerry was on vacation that week, he called me back immediately and we talked through the problem and exchanged texts where I sent him pictures of the damage and he let me know when he'd have a chance to make the repair. I had a window that leaked every time in rained and I also had moisture coming through a second floor wall. I called Jerry and he responded quickly. He came out and showed me the problem and texted me a very fair quote later that day. He came out on the first 60 degree day and fixed the problem. He said to wait to repaint the inside wall until the next heavy rain just in case there was a problem, even though he was very confident that the problem was fixed. When you notice a stain on your roof, the immediate feeling is panic. Then you call roofing companies--some of which say they will call you back, some who never return your messages, and some who never pick up the phone. Jerry was none of the above. He understood my urgency and came over the next day to assess what was wrong. He took pictures of the damage in case I needed them for insurance purposes and set up an appointment with me to fix it the following week.
