I can't imagine our project could have gone any more smoothly than it did with with Lester and his teams at Hetman Enterprises. And we did it ALL - new siding, new gutters, a new roof, new windows and new doors (front door is not in the picture). Not to mention a new, front-door entry/overhang. All in the span of 4-6 weeks. Lester and his guys are straightforward and knowledgeable at a decent price. I've dealt with contractors in the past and had some bad experiences. Lester knows his business, and stands behind his product. He's not trying to get the project done so he can move to the next paycheck. He's gets it done right with a lot of the great characteristics I look for in a contractor: a)  Lester had a good price, and there were no surprises in his quote compared to the final cost. b)  He's a strong communicator. He almost always responded immediately. And for the couple true concerns I had, he wasn't suddenly missing in action for a few hours. Also, his guys are not the type of team bothered by your questions. Most questions are not too stupid. And trust me: I don't know what I'm doing. I had some dumb questions. c)  Of course, there were a couple hiccups as there are with any project of this size. He and his guys identified them quickly and handled them without begging to get it done. He has high expectations, so there were very few instances where I needed to point out something that wasn't up to my expectations. d)  There isn't BS selling with Lester. He's not pushing anything, but he knows when you need a suggestion and a nice touch to your project. And when he wants to recommend something, there isn't a single option. He provides choices with a good explanation of the differences. e)  He's not killing himself to increase his margin on every aspect of your project. There were a couple upgrades where he could have easily added to his profit, and he didn't. f)  Our village inspectors are notoriously - let's generously call it - stingy. He handled them like a pro. There were no problems and I didn't need to get involved. This is the second house on our block Hetman and Lester completed. Both look great and, we're getting all sorts of great compliments. Lester is the greatest. Our whole neighborhood had a bunch of hail damage, and became a hotspot for door-to-door visiting companies asking to take a look at our roof. It felt a little predatory, so we contacted Lester based on the good reviews here. He had to do a lot of haggling with our insurance company, which initially said there was no damage to the roof (based on a drone visit). Lester's crew put up new gutters, soffit, and fascia on my house. Before they came, I was getting leakage in the basement, and had to walk through a waterfall to get in my back door. The fascia board was disintegrating in some places. I could stand under the gutters and see gaps between the gutter and the roof, and I could stand in the neighbors yard, and see that the gutters were sagging, and not properly routing the water away from my head :( Lester and I discussed this and worked out a way to get the water away from the house and properly routed so that it did not cause leaks or unplanned hair wetting. There are 2 roofs and the higher one was routed badly onto the smaller lower roof. Lester figured out a way to fix this so the larger roof drained directly into the downspout, and not into the gutter of the lower roof. He also suggested wider gutters on the lower roof, which I did. In addition, he changed the gutter color, and was able to wrap the corner pieces of the aluminum siding to give an updated look. He also fixed my leaky back door. The price was reasonable and comparable or a bit less than others I had quote the job, and he was willing to do the trim wrapping which another provider was not willing to do. I felt that Lester was always straight with me, and I never felt like he or his crew was doing a shoddy job. Note that Lester has moved to Gurnee, IL, but services the Chicago area, and is a great choice for Lake County residents who need new exterior work. I would be glad to have Lester do additional work on the exterior of my house, and probably will have him do something about the windows next year. read more
