First of all, I was very grateful for the technician and service team that worked on my car to diagnose and fix a difficult to describe noise coming from the engine area. But more importantly, what set First Kia above the rest, was the customer service. I felt the service department did an excellent job at listening to my concerns, addressing my questions and following through with offers to update me in a timely manner. I think my service advisor Jimmy Maguglin did a phenomenal job at keeping me informed. He followed through like clockwork with updates and I could always get a hold of someone when I called in. Jimmy's professionalism showed through in the way he patiently heard out all my concerns and offered rationales in a way that made sense, explaining things in a way I could understand even though I'm completely car illiterate. I also never felt like he was rushing me and just felt like I was treated fairly and as a priority. Service is pretty good here. I would comment however, that the employees need to be a little more welcoming to the customers they serve. All comes down to customer service in a simple "hello", "good morning", etc. That goes a long way in making you feel welcome. This is the fault of management in providing poor training and oversight. I brought my 2015 Kia Rio EZ that I bought in October 2019 for its 45,000 mile service appointment. This location was the closest certified Kia service department from where I live, so it was about a 30 minute drive. Upon arriving, I was greeted by service tech Robin who was very nice and friendly. She gave me an ETA on when my car would be done, advised me she would text me throughout the appointment with updates and let me know what was in the surrounding area within walking distance. I chose to wait in the customer lounge that looks a little rough around the edges on the outside, but on the inside was your basic amenities at most car service locations - complimentary donuts, bottle water and coffee. They also had a big TV playing and complimentary WiFi. I brought my car in at 10:45 AM and was on my way by 12:30 PM. I was one of two other customers there that I could see so the timeframe to change the oil and do a multi-point inspection seemed a bit long. They did wash my car for free, which was a nice perk. The recommendations they made for additional services are the reason for the one star deduction. They said I needed to replace my battery, which it very well could need to be replaced, but to quote a battery replacement for over $300 is ridiculous. And my center console lid needed to be replaced and I found the lid I needed from an authentic Kia parts provider for $100 and was quoted over $200 from Kia Simi. I understand marking up prices to make a profit, but the quoted were a bit extreme. I would and will bring my Kia back to this location because the customer service was on point, but the pricing I will watch closely and always get a second opinion on before agreeing to anything. read more

Do NOT go here for service or warranty repairs! I had a loud noise in my 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid, which got louder as I drove ... and even louder when I turned to the left. My research and instincts told me it was a wheel bearing. But when I brought it by for the service manager's (Guy Ankeny) opinion, he basically said, "Wheel bearings simply don't go out on these cars." Followed by, "You've been reading too much on the internet." He said he's 100% confident it's "nothing catastrophic," and suggested I have the alignment checked next time I come in for an oil change (in approx. 2k more miles). Today, one week later, the noise was so bad I brought it to my tire shop for an alignment (and second opinion). They said it's NOT the alignment, but the wheel bearing is about to go and needs replacing ASAP. We all know what happens when a bearing goes bad ... the wheel seizes and it becomes "catastrophic." Now waiting for a call back from Kirby Kia in Ventura to see what they can do to actually help me instead of dismissing my concern. Shame on you, First Kia. This could have been a REALLY bad ending. read more

Just left this dealership and Noah (he didn't have a name tag but said that that was his name- blue eyes,blonde hair) was so rude and condescending. First of all, they close at 7 on Sundays so if you're driving by at 6pm, do not even go in. He right away told us (6:15) that they are about to close and would love to set up an appointment for another time. We knew specifically what we wanted to look at so it would just be down to talking numbers to compare deals (we wanted a pilot but wanted to explore all options so checked our Kia for deals)- he obviously didn't care for or need. Once we told him the lease deals we found online, he started his rude tone saying the deals on Kia's website aren't necessarily their deals. The thing is, when we were looking up inventory on Kia's website, it led us to Simi's dealership so we went there expecting to get the right treatment. He tried to turn on his computer and said "show me" as if we had anything to prove to him. His job is to sell cars and provide good customer service. He lost a sale and I can't believe that this is the kind of service he provides. We had previously gone to the Valencia dealership but the lady that helped us wasn't too knowledgeable on the cars and didn't have the one we were looking for. She however, was nice and helpful and aware that the deals advertised online is what brings customers in. Noah, I hope you have a back up plan for your career. Kia management- i hope you realize you are losing out on sales because of employees like Noah. Update hours later- just leased a third car from Keyes in Woodland Hills and I can't believe we even considered looking elsewhere- go there! I walked in saying how much my budget was and Mark Brody was our sales person who was very nice and didn't push me towards something out of my budget! After being a customer of this dealership for six years and buying a brand new Kia Soul...it is unfortunate that we must part ways. I hope the sales staff is still great as it was in 2013, I'm not coming back to find out due to a terrible service department. This last week I needed a part for replacement on my 2013 Kia Soul, it broke and needs to be replaced. After the part came in no phone call to tell me it was in strike one. Then when we get the part it is not painted by the factory it was white on top and black on the bottom, no one told us the part was unfinished at the time I ordered it and paid $314 for it and $130 for installation, strike two. Then after having picked up said part I am told " oh yeah it comes unfinished we have to send it for painting that will be $200 more, when we were never told of this by the service writer or manager, strike 3. So that's $644 plus applicable sales taxes for a part that is basically not complete when ordered and no way of knowing that ahead of time so the customer can make an informed decision about spending this kind of money. Now don't get me wrong I understand they have to pay their service help $125K per year and that's why oil changes are over $250 here and god help you if you have to have major repairs done, but the customer service we received is abysmal and like most people I don't rob banks for a living, I even missed the train to neurosurgery as well. So due to very poor management sadly we will not be returning customers, I will gladly use Valencia Kia where I'm hoping they still know how to treat their customers. We needed this part to match in color as we are trading the car next year for a new one, but not as First Kia in Simi. Oh and one last item I want to apologize to John in the parts department for the irate phone call from my wife yesterday, she was well let's say a bit unhinged when we saw the replacement part and found out about the $200 shop fee. Unbelievable that businesses like these are allowed to operate and stay in business. This place is horrible. The way customers are treated should be criminal. Service is the absolute worst, please do yourself a big favor and save yourself much headache, frustration and a whole lot of cash...just avoid this place until they've fired everyone and start over. Extremely disappointed with the service done on my car. Wait time is ridiculously... Dropped my car off Saturday for a routine oil change and one recall at 7:30 am. I called around 2:40 pm to see if it's ready they told me no. Obviously I'm upset at this point Ive been with out a car since 7:30am. Robin calls me back to let me know my car is ready around 3:30 after I was told by someone else that it wouldn't be ready till after 4:30pm. I get to dealer within 10min. To my surprise It wasn't ready. I waited 25 minutes only to learn the we're barely going to do the complementary car wash. I told I couldn't wait I had to go. I get in my car started heading home when I realized the seatbelt wasn't properly installed. At this point I called Robyn and told here I was heading back. Well they didn't fix. All they did was try to tuck it in. I ask for management and they responded no one is here on the weekends. I got Guys card left him a voicemail and I still haven't received a call back. I have a dash cam installed on my car. It records every time the vechiel is on. Well it recorded the employee driving in my car chitchatting away with other employees. It also recorded the tech stating he forget to install my rear seat back on my vehicle( he stated this when he brought the car to the carwash area) keep in mind I was already there waiting to pick my car up. Games Games Games...no honor. I'm gonna Sum this up up top here. You can read details below.... If you choose "Free Oil Changes for a year is based on service recommendations and the average amount of miles motorists drive in a year" My salesman told me this. I told him I was driving for Lyft. Salesman said "No problem free for a year" Now First Kia is NOT standing by the salesman promise. Service manager said "I used both, no more, that's it." Sales Manager said "Its a he said she said, I should have read the fine print." Now I have to let the dozens of people I talk to about my car a week NOT to go to 1st Kia. They are not an honorable company. Earlier I put up a review about a registration mix up that caused me to get pulled over multiple times a week. A rep from First Kia...Mr Kia, or something like that, responded with a "please contact me" I did via e-mail so I'd have it in writing. I never heard back from him. Luckily most police in town and where I work, seemed to know the car and I got pulled over less and less until the proper documentation came in from the DMV. Now the latest issue with First Kia is their "free Oil Changes For A Year" lie. Our Salesman, who conveniently enough no longer works at First Kia, happily told us about their "Free Oil changes for a Year" promotion...deal...gimmick when we were signing all of our paperwork. I was really happy because I use this AWESOME 2015 Optima for Lyft. I told the salesman that it was going to save me a ton, and said well you'll probably see me once a month you sure that's included? "Yes, free oil changes for a year." I immediately did the math in my head and thought I was making an even better choice by coming to First Kia. That is when reality should have kicked in and been replaced with "If its too good to be true it probably is" I went through the first 5000 miles in a little over a month. Got an appointment...two weeks out. The day I took it in the service writer tried to write me up for over $200 in tire rotation, cabin filters, air filter, oil change. Oh and there is a thing you'd see when you get your car back that says "owner declined free car wash...to help save water" I didn't even know a car wash was on the table. Nonetheless I declined all that extra BS I could do myself, no doubt far cheaper. Then I was reminded sternly that I only get two oil changes per year, as per the recommended service intervals and average driving habits of blah blah blah. So what gimme my oil change. Got it. I picked up the car talked to the salesman about it, he reiterated service intervals, driving habits B.S. "We'll honor it though." 4K miles later...getting close, so I made an appointment...this time another two weeks out. Got there and good ole Sang was there again to write me up again. He looked at me like I was crazy that I wanted to use "last oil change". I said YES and this time I DO NOT want to opt out of my free car wash either. He said they normally don't wash cars on rainy days. A...it isn't a rainy day. B...I want it washed. As for the bickering over how many oil changes I'm entitled to I knew Sang wasn't the guy to talk to. It was the sales staff and they weren't in yet. So Oil change was done, sales staff was there. Before going to the service dept I stopped by the sales dept. I was greeted by a guy. I told him I was looking for my sales guy. no longer worked there I was told. I said then I need the sales manager. I had to tell this guy the issue, BEFORE he led me to the guy behind the big desk. (Waste of time) I told the guy behind the desk the same thing I told the kid. "free oil changes for a year, your salesman said, your service writer said no to" story. The guy behind the big desk said "Oh don't worry about it." I said can I get it in writing" At that point Guy behind the big desk turned to Yehehda (hacked the spelling I'm sorry) At which point Y(for short) gave me the "service recommendations based on average persons yearly driving habits" line. I told him I drive for Lyft, and drive more than the average person. He said, "Well then its a commercial vehicle." I said "Salesman said you still honor it." Y said "Well that's a He said she said thing" I said "Well now its a I tell Yelp thing" (Thinking this was getting childish) He proved it with his retort of "Then I'm going to give Lyft a bad review" I pointed out that would be a false review because your review isn't based on facts as a customer. I am PAYING for something from a company you represent. Then he tried the "Its based on service recommendations and the average blah blah small print." Once again... Bottom line. I LOVE my optima. I have over 100 people a week in and out of my car. I pay for my car off TIPS. I attribute my customers satisfaction mostly to the comfort of my Optama. If you like that old sleezy, deceptive approach to car buy then you would love this place. Payment for a cheap Kia started out at $499 month! After I exclaimed "you've got to be kidding". Sid Khan asked me "how much are you willing to pay"? Really? I tell them how much I want to pay? As a mom I felt like I was being taken for a fool.When i refused their ridiculous deal and wanted to leave,my key was kept until the manager came out and try to make another deal. He dropped the price $1,500 and when I actually left, I received a call that if I come back in by 1pm they would take $3,000 off. I hate this kind of crap, other dealers don't do this. WARNING DO NOT buy a car from 1st Kia. They have the worst customer service EVER? My 2016 Optima check engine light came on in April and the car started running rough wouldn't go over 10mph. After 3 days of not knowing what's wrong they claim it needed an update. Took it in July for an oil change and apparently the dip stick read dry, no oil on it, yet they did not tell me, my mistake for not reading the paperwork entirely. Before my next scheduled oil change my oil light came on, so we added a quart of oil. 2 weeks later another quart so I took it in early for the oil change and tire rotation. They advised me to bring the car back in 500 miles to check the oil level, oh and they did not do the tire rotation like I asked. I came back in 1000 miles and it was low again. They charged me for the oil replacement and the missed tire rotation. They asked me to come back again and I said I don't have time to be running over here all the time for you to check the oil, you know its an issue. After asking for the service manager to call me he decided he had enough to open a claim. Kia decided to put a new motor in the car. They had my car for 24 days. Most follow ups were initiated by me. I asked to speak to the owner or someone above Greg the service manager and ended up with "Johnny Kia". Let me tell you this guy could care less about what I was saying about their lack of customer service. When I said I felt unsafe in the car all he said was why. I stated your service tech put my motor in, in less than one day after coming in late with personal issues. He just looked at me and said that's not the story heard. When I asked about what heard he claimed he did not have time to tell me. So when I left I warned a woman purchasing a car to beware as their lack of customer service is less than parr. As Im starting to drive away out come "Johnny Kia'" and Greg telling me Im never to come back to their dealership. Greg also told me I need to visit my Dr and get medication. This is completely NOT PROFESSIONAL!!! I wonder how the owner of 1st Kia feels about the way this managers treated their customers, especially one like me who has bought 4 Kias from this dealership.
