I felt like I had room to ask questions, think through my options, and make my own decisions rather than being pressured toward a sale. I had a similarly positive experience with the finance department. They clearly explained the optional products available to me, but when I decided which ones I did and didn't want, there was no hard sell or attempt to make me feel like I was making the wrong decision. I really appreciated being given the information and then allowed to choose for myself. The manager also took the time to check in with me during the process and make sure everything was going well, which was a nice touch. What stood out most was how uncomplicated the whole experience felt. Car buying can be exhausting, and after walking away from three other dealerships because of the way the process was handled, Thousand Oaks Mazda was a huge contrast. I really appreciate the service advisor, Michael Hulette, and the technicians from Mazda. I called on a rainy Friday late afternoon with a battery that was worrying me as it was getting sluggish starting a bit more every day. They were very busy but were able to inspect the CX-5 and replace the battery! I know it can seem like a small thing but i was so happy knowing I was not going to be stranded some place with a dead battery after they finished! BUYER BEWARE! This dealership/Matt plays games. Matt kept trying to get me to come in but once I asked for photos of the vehicle he said it wasnt available to view? Eventually I got photos. I asked if the sale price was correct only to find they added the pre-sale price to the OTD. When I mentioned this they said they will only honor the price if I came in, EVEN though they already confirmed the price and it should already be honored when Matt agreed to the sale price??? (Please refer to the screenshots) When I finally got the break down, they added "optional fees" but essentially told me they were mandatory. I said they are NOT and he kept standing his ground. I asked him to show the the product add-ons contract and he said he couldn't do that over chat (but in reality its because the contract says that these charges are VOLUNTARY). I told him that forced add-ons are actually something that's going through a lawsuit right now and he said he had to close the chat. I have screenshots of the entire conversation. read more

Awful experience. They're all smiles when you're buying a car, but once issues pop up (just days later!), they completely disappear. I'll never purchase another Mazda from this dealership again. I bought a brand-new CX-90 PHEV at the start of April. Right away, it started making grinding noises from the transmission and surging at low speeds. I called the service department and was told it was "probably just breaking in" and not to bring it in unless it got worse. Well -- it did. I went on a drive with the shop manager, Freddy, who agreed it wasn't normal and kept the car to investigate. A few days later, they came back saying that "according to Mazda corporate, everything is normal and the car is safe to drive." Confused, I asked for more information -- still waiting for a real answer. I told them I refuse to drive it again until someone explains what's happening, how it's supposedly safe, whether it's causing damage, and what Mazda is doing to fix it. Silence. I've been calling and visiting the dealership constantly, but no one follows up. Joe, the sales manager, said I could "exchange" the car -- if I paid another $20k to cover "depreciation" after only six days of ownership (hard pass, Joe). Alex, the service manager, just keeps urging me not to involve a lawyer and instead to open a case with Mazda corporate (already did -- they promised a call last week, still nothing). I'm sure they'll try to respond here claiming the car is fine and I'm just being difficult -- but a quick look at online forums shows tons of similar complaints. I'm far from the only one. Mazda's quality and customer service have clearly gone downhill. Bottom line: I've never been this furious with a dealership. Spent $60k on a new car that's unsafe to drive, with no resolution in sight. Save yourself the grief and stay far away from this place. read more

I made an appointment a week ago for routine oil change at this Mazda of Thousand Oaks a day before July 4th. Jake was great helping me on the phone and in person. Very friendly, courteous, and above all very professional. Their computer was down for a few days, explained Jake. So, I signed on a hand-written, hand-drawn sheet of "work-in-progress-form" on a sheet of white paper. Everything went well except... I received a few hungry fleas bites sitting on the black couch in the waiting area!! 3 bites to be exact. There were no other customers then. So, I was the fleas' buffet platter of the day - ouch! Thank goodness that the oil change was completed within an hour. Otherwise, I may have donated more blood involuntarily. We scheduled a test drive in advance, but still ended up waiting a very long time when we arrived. On the day we were supposed to pick up the car, we had made the appointment four days earlier and even confirmed again two hours before our arrival via text. Despite that, we were kept waiting for almost 1 hour while they got the car ready. To make matters worse, they blamed us for not calling instead of texting, yet when we texted, Brandon responded. It's unclear why they didn't have the car ready as agreed. Additionally, they tried to force us to purchase an unnecessary theft alarm and increased the price upon arrival. I have been a BMW owner since 2011, and I have sworn by those cars because they have saved my life on a few occasions. However after talking to my card enthusiast, conducting my own research and decided that Mazda was the way to go. Contacted the Mazda dealership, corresponded via email with Leighton Lawton. Corresponded for about a week and he was able to find the model I was looking for with all the bells and whistles. I popped into the dealership this afternoon gave the test drive and I'm super pleased with the way it handles. The process of returning my BMW, X one paying off the last lease payments, and putting some money down this new car was very seamless Treated like a celebrity when you walk in the lobby. Everyone agrees and mentions congratulations as you walked by. The financial group was especially helpful and gave me some great advice and tips, and my payments lower than I expected I had to remove objects from my car and Leighton put on my new license plate and he took off my gradschool plate label I had almost forgotten that I left it there. He thought of every detail helped me connect Bluetooth instead of the app and he showed me how to turn the car on and off from the app. He's a rockstar is a great salesman because he's not trying to sell you anything and don't feel like he's some sort of predator where I have always felt that at other dealerships. read more

I honestly do that have to many negatives about this place except they tried to up charge me when I called ahead and got a quote. My biggest gripe with this place is the mediocre waiting area and not offering complimentary snacks or drinks. If a basic oil change is 40 mins- 2 hrs they should offer water at least. Especially when hardworking people pay $130 for a basic oil change. And I will continue to leave 3 star reviews until they offer better customer service. I would like to say that I'm a really happy owner of a Mazda vehicle. This is my second Mazda. If I knew then what I know now I would have purchased my Mazda MX-5 at Mazda Thousand Oaks. Not that I think the dealer I purchased my Mazda at is not a good dealership, they are. Mazda of Oxnard. But after repeated attempts to get needed service work done on my 2021 vehicle, after four visits over a 6 month period, I finally gave up and went to Mazda of Thousand Oaks. The difference? Mazda of Thousand Oaks is a great dealership. I was immediately made to feel welcome and was met with concerned, caring, professional, expert technical service. I was provided with a loaner vehicle, for two weeks!. It took two weeks to troubleshoot the issue and acquire the needed parts, one of which was the only one available in all of North and South America. The next available part wouldn't arrive until 7 months later from Japan. Once the vehicle was ready, I was back at the wheel of my car. The car that I drive 80 miles roundtrip daily. Jake the service manager was one of the most professional customer service specialists I've had the pleasure of working with. Freddy, the technician, who has serviced Mazda vehicles for over twenty years is a car whisperer. I was blown away at the level and care that I was treated to. Granted the vehicle is under it's original manufacturer warranty, but I've never received such caring service before for anything. My only regrets are: 1) The work was done in March and this if the first that I'm getting around to documenting this great service and for that I apologize to Jake and the amazing team at Mazda of Thousand Oaks. 2) That I never before considered purchasing a vehicle from this amazing business. That will not happen again. I look forward to the next time I return my vehicle for service to Jake and his team. Its really difficult to find a business that values their employees and their customers as much as Mazda of Thousand Oaks. I bought my first Mazda back in 2020 from this dealership. It was a CX5 Signature Turbo and I loved it so much- there was nothing I didn't like about it. I have been taking it to this service department since the beginning. Alex, Joe, and Jake have always been super helpful and friendly and I always felt well taken care of. Sadly, my car was recently totaled which was traumatic and devastating. For days I felt out of sorts. I wasn't sure if I could get into another Turbo which was heartbreaking... A couple days after the accident Jake from service called to let me know that Danny, the GM saw my accident. He recognized my plates and had Jake call me to check in to see how I was doing. It felt really nice to know they cared enough to call! After telling Jake what happened he told me I should talk to a Richard in Sales, so I could try to get into another one. They had one 2023 model that was almost identical to my CX5 aside from a couple of upgrades. Richard met with me to go over my options last night. Things have changed significantly with interest rates since I bought the first one, so I wasn't hopeful that I'd be able to afford the payments for the same model. Richard was honest and more than fair when we went through the process. We got everything settled for me to pick the car up today. When I came to get my car this afternoon, he took his time walking me through getting my phone paired and showing me new features on the car that I didn't have before. We talked about family as well, which made me feel truly appreciated as a customer, that it wasn't just business. This last week has been so stressful and upsetting... walking out of the dealership last night was the first time it felt like things were looking up. Leaving with a new car today was the icing on the cake. I appreciate these guys so much. Do not trust the sales or pre-owned vehicle sales team at Volkswagen or Mazda Thousand Oaks. I returned my VW lease here and they not only lied that I didn't owe any restocking fees, but they refused to give me proof of my return and reported my car returned to VW financing after the due date so I was hit with penalties I didn't know about, ultimately hurting my credit. When I told the sales manager, Seth Waskow, he promised they would resolve this, but never did and 3 months have gone by. Really bad look representing VW and based on this, I would not do any business with them or Mazda Thousand Oaks sales rep, Latham, who had taken my keys initially promising I owed nothing and there was no paperwork to be signed, which was false. I just leased a cx30 from Mazda Thousand Oaks and it was a great experience from everyone there. My sales person was Latham, a very nice guy who isn't the pushy sales person we all hate. I went in initially on a Saturday with my infant son very quickly and then followed up with Latham who was nothing but helpful. The day I went back to finalize the lease happened to be a day off for him. I didn't know this, he met me there and ran numbers multiple times to fit my budget.
