This spot has the best Chai Latte! I came in for a "coffee" meet up with friends, and while I don't…read morepartake in the "devils wake up juice", I know I'll find a Chai in most every coffee shop, but the real question is "Will it be good or not?". The barista was telling me about the ingredients, the syrups and milks they use and when I had my chance I interrupted and said " make this one as spicy as possible, please!!" and she knew what I meant. Without skipping a beat she pulled out the cinnamon and loaded it up all while disappointedly explaining to me that the syrup they use is actually the lesser of two spiced chai syrups offered by the manufacturer and that she was sad to see the other had gone a while ago (RIP even spicier chai latte). C'est la vie; I guess, this was still one tasty chai though. Now we're chatting about the tea and vanilla creamer I use at home, but be sure you use both a packet of Stash double chai as well as one Stash red dragon - it's the mix of both that really seal the deal for an at home chai and then use some of the vanilla oat milk creamer to get that at home chai latte-esq experience. We went our separate ways after giving up our own insights into the world of chai and her handing me the drink I was there for, but I still think about that chai latte from time to time. I spent the next hour or so prattling on with friends, commenting on about how the table fit all of us comfortably and the nice interior space of monorchid was big enough to fit us all without pushing out anyone else. Well, that and the state of world politics and how of course they would all fix everything if only ... Sorry, I dozed off a bit after they went on about fixing things from their current position as "Assistant to the Regional Manager" - or something akin to that title. We smack talked eachothers mommas, but in a respectful way. We challenged each other to feats of strength, but only with our thumbs, what are we barbarians?!? We parted ways in a draw because we will always live to fight another day while sipping a tasty Chai Latte because it's definitly better than your espresso, no the espesso is better, no my refreshing juice is better than both your espresso and chai latte. Only the most engaging debates for us quite noble thinkers at this coffee house and cafe!

If you're looking for a spot to get work done that isn't home, especially in this Phoenix heat,…read morethis is definitely a great spot. The interior is huge, with lots of seating, and a decent menu of beverages and food to keep you fueled. You just have to deal with parking, which I found a paid street spot across the street. I came in on a Tuesday morning and it wasn't too busy, but a lot of the tables were taken. There was no line, and my drinks and muffin were done super quickly. Drinks and food wise, I think it's just okay personally. The matchas I have tried here tend to be on the milkier side, which isn't my personal preference, but the coffee is solid. This is a good spot to see if you're in the area, or need space to work/meet people!

A true gem in downtown Phoenix, hidden in plain sight! I first discovered Giant Coffee on my way to…read morethe Burton Barr Library but noticed the open window and outdoor seating. Weeks later on a Saturday afternoon, I finally made the pilgrimage only to discover one of my new favorite coffee shops in Phoenix! There is limited curbside parking right out front (which I fortunately snagged without paying) and no parking lot I could see, but ample surrounding street parking nearby, including next to the librar,y less than a block away. I opted for the "Fan Fave" (on the small chalkboard to the left of the register that also lists available syrup,s including pumpkin spice, vanilla, honey, mocha, brown sugar, rose, and mint) "Brown Sugar + Vanilla + Cinnamon Latte". They offer 12oz and 16oz, and I opted for iced with light ice in a 16oz, which came out to $6.55 after tax! WOW! Given all the different flavors in this specialty drink, I was fully expecting to pay about ~$8 and round up to $10 with tip, like I usually do. My drink was delicious! From the perspective of a sweet tooth, I thought the brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon were an amazing combination, in a latte that did its job of giving me the energy boost I needed. I found the cinnamon to be a bit overpowering, but it gave the drink another dimension, which I appreciated. The ambiance and interior were so serene. They leave the front window open with seating, acting like a porch, and allowing the cool autumn air in. The soft sunlight prior to sunset also peaked through in between the nearby buildings. There is ample seating, with ample wall charging, and free wifi without a password. I found the elevated booths with high single/double tables to be super unique and not something I've ever seen at a coffee shop before. Overall, I love this coffee shop to death. My drink wasn't my favorite latte I've ever had, but it was definitely delicious and satisfying, especially for the price. Absolutely fell in love with this serene coffee shop upon my first visit and will definitely be back!

Fantastic Atmosphere and Workspace in Midtown, but Mind the Peak Hours…read more My friend and I visited this cafe on a mid-week afternoon looking for a productive spot to get some remote work done, and it proved to be an excellent choice. Logistically, midtown traffic in this area is a well-known hurdle, but the dedicated parking lot located directly behind the building makes arriving by car much easier. Inside, the design and atmosphere are an absolute vibe. The mismatched furniture, abundance of indoor plants, and view of the green canopy outside provide a perfect, refreshing escape from the summer heat. The menu is varied and high-quality. I ordered a matcha latte, which was excellent and refreshing, while my friend opted for a lunch sandwich and a latte. For true coffee enthusiasts, they also sell specialty house-roasted coffee beans retail, including a Guatemalan Antigua and another select house blend. The lounge offers plenty of comfortable seating tailored for focus and productivity. While the pricing is slightly higher than your average coffee shop, the exceptional atmosphere and amenities justify the cost. One quick tip for remote workers: The environment shifts noticeably after 4:00 PM. The space can become quite loud with patrons taking phone calls or conducting 1-on-1 meetings at adjacent tables. If you plan to work through the late afternoon, I highly recommend bringing a pair of noise-canceling headphones to remain undisturbed.

First, I have to mention the book bar inside, First Draft. We didn't actually get a chance to go in, but I absolutely love the convenience of having a bookshop and bar together. And I especially love a good play on words, so if I'd had more time and hadn't had my teenager with me, I definitely would have checked it out! Anyway, I walked in and cut right to the chase, asking an employee where I could find the postcards. They pointed me in the right direction, and I found them immediately. We were on a bit of a time crunch, so I didn't get the chance to explore EVERYTHING they had, but I easily could have spent quite a while browsing the books, trinkets, gifts, and all the other fun things throughout the store. Then something caught my eye that I was SO excited about--the mini print vending machine! I had seen these on TikTok before, including ones in San Francisco, so finding one here was a really pleasant surprise. I dug around in my purse and managed to come up with enough quarters to get two prints. I absolutely loved the prints, and they made such a fun and affordable souvenir to bring home. It was one of those unexpected little finds that made the stop even better. My only complaint is that I didn't have more time to explore. I would have loved to browse the store longer and grab a drink at First Draft. Changing Hands is definitely a little gem in the Phoenix area, and I'm glad another store pointed me in their direction!

The staff was knowledgeable and took the time to explain the menu, making the experience approachable even for a first-time visitor. I decided to try one of their signature kava beverages, and I was pleasantly surprised by how intriguing and complex the drink was. The flavor profile was unlike anything I had experienced before--earthy, bold, and distinctive in a way that felt both adventurous and refined. More importantly, the effects were exactly as described. As I enjoyed my drink, a gentle sense of relaxation gradually settled in, leaving me feeling calm, centered, and remarkably at ease without any sense of heaviness. What I appreciated most was how the experience encouraged mindfulness and connection. Lacuna offers something refreshingly different from a traditional coffee shop or cocktail lounge, creating an environment where conversation flows naturally and relaxation takes center stage. Whether you're curious about kava for the first time or already familiar with its calming properties, Lacuna Kava Bar is absolutely worth a visit. The combination of a welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and a truly distinctive beverage experience makes it a standout destination.
