Food is good. We'd ordered take out from here before. We decided to dine in to waste time before a movie. Unfortunately I don't see myself dining in here again because 1. She swept my foot while sweeping (glad we'd finished eating) 2. She sat the bill down, said "pay me" then lingered and followed that by also sharing "tip not included". Food too greasy. Too much MSG. They used way to much baking soda to make the cheap meat to be soft. Plates, bowls, tea cups..... tooooo dirty, old food stuck on it doesn't matter if you asked for a new one its still dirty. Service is terrible. And more importantly, THEY CHEAT. My sister ordered 1 whole roasted duck for togo. She pointed to the duck she wanted but when she brought it home, none of the duck that she chose was in there. Instead there was a bunch of fat, leftover, bad pieces of duck that was left after they cut out the good parts to serve at the restaurant. My partner and I was craving bbq pork and duck. So we decided to visit here. We came here around dinner time in the afternoon so it was kind of late. We ordered charsiu pork, roasted pork and roasted duck. Everything tasted okay. It was not bad and it was not the best either. They gave us a ton of white rice with our meats. The charsiu pork had a strong flavor that I didn't like and the meat was a little tough. The roasted pork was not crispy at all, but flavor was good. They gave us the cuts with lots of meats and less fat. The roasted duck was also not crispy. This one was the strongest in flavor with a heavy sauce and the meat was tender. It seemed like we came pretty close to closing time and the stuff we got was sitting on display the whole day so nothing was crispy and fresh. Maybe the food will be better if we go in the morning when they first open, but bbq for breakfast or lunch is too heavy for us. Their service was friendly and quick. read more

Normally I would rank this place highly because they are the only place I know that can cook duck like this, but the service here just now was so aweful that I cannot believe it almost... The lady (not our waitress, so the management or owner) after bringing the check totally said "Cash only, you pay now." And waited. After a "that was odd" glance at each other, my buddies and I scrambled for the bill. When we handed it to her, she totally said "Bill does not include tip". Omg! We had to ask her for change and when she brought it back... she - waited - for - her - tip!!... Who the hell does this lady think she is? This is the worst Chinese BBQ restaurant I have ever been to, simple and period. The bbq pork was served cold, just out of the fridge. The three cup chicken was hard as rocks. The waiters needed to be called 8 times before coming to our table and it was not busy at all! Having visited at the midst of the dinner hour, the restaurant was very crowded. On the night I visited, the parking lot was completely occupied. But this was a very minor issue -- as after two to three minutes, someone had walked out of the boba shop to leave. This restaurant is certainly unique -- as lifeless ducks hang over the counter. Nonetheless, after a few minutes of waiting, we were led to our table. After reviewing the menu, we opted for the Fresh Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup, Roast Duck, and Beef Flat Noodles. The Wonton Soup is good -- though the noodles that were in the soup were much like what you would find from Top Ramen (which can be good, depending if you like Top Ramen). The Roast Duck and Flat Noodles were also good; though I must admit, a bit overrated. The Roast Duck came with oyster sauce. And although the duck was flavorful, it seemed as though there were bone fragments in every other piece (-1). As for the Flat Noodles -- it was served at room temperature (-1). As someone had reiterated in a previous review, this food doesn't taste good when reheated; and they do add MSG, unless otherwise requested... Otherwise, the service friendly. read more

I'm not a big fan of roasted pork but this place has got to be one of the better restaurants that offers this dish. Coming from orange county, California we have dozens of this type of restaurants but this is one of the few that I found to be good at this dish. The skin wads crispy although it was lunch time but not too many customers around. You would assume that the meat would be old and stale by now. But no, it was crunchy. We also order the wonton soup which was pretty good. It was soft and juice but they could have done more to the broth IMO. The third best dish was our stir fry of snow peas. It was balanced in flavors and naturally sweet. We had the fried salted prawn/shrimp and it was decent. The shrimp was crispy and soft on the inside but its plain like the name of the dish. Salt. The stir fry with beef and thick rice noodle was too oily and bland. The beef was tasteless. The only reason why i knocked off one star is because of the beef dish but overall a good meal. read more

Disappointed! I read the reviews prior to coming here for the first time... Reviews were very good. I ordered the duck and marinated chicken... I asked if i could get chow mein, and she said "no only streamed rice," i asked do you have chow mein? She said yes and showed me the second page, but it doesn't come with duck i asked? No only stemmed rice! So i had to get steamed rice -________- i also got the chicken won ton soup... The soup was good. It's our first time here, and the service was horrible. We didn't feel welcome us in and rushing us to order. So we still gives it's a try, at the end we paid and walked out to the door. Definitely different from the normal Chinese fair I'm use too. But that's a good thing. The hanging cooked ducks were a sight. I'm glad we came with a big group. That way we can order plenty to try and give our take on it. I was told I was a picky eater, but I responded "no, I'm a yelper". That's why you shouldn't take all our advice when it comes to reviews. I'm sorry but the service we received was very poor. It was a shame because the food was actually pretty good. I tried the orange chicken and also the sesame chicken. Delicious but the rice was a little dry. After finishing the rice it took forever to receive another one from the waitress. We actually had to get up and find a person to give us some more rice. After we received our checks we paid and also tipped. The waitress wouldn't let us out, saying we didn't tip her. She said we had to give her exactly 15% for her tip, quite rudely I might add. After that awkward moment I gave her extra dollars and asked her if she had any more trouble for us. She just took it and left. I used to love to come here until today. We have been coming here for years! We are from Houston. Every time we come to Dallas, we stop by here. This time, we ordered the whole roasted duck for $25. They cheated and ripped us off by bringing us a full plate if duck parts which are bones and skin. They put a duck head on the plate to pretend it's a whole duck. How can a duck have no duck breast or legs? Be careful when you come here, pick your duck and watch them chop it up and walk it to your table. Best Chinese food in Dallas. I'm pretty bias, but this is the best location out of all the Chinese First BBQ. My dad always went here while he was in college and he visited here quite often after he worked downtown for lunch. He took my mom here on their first date. Needless to say my parents took me here after I started working. I've never had a bad experience at this place. There was a time a a couple years back when my dad was short a few dollars and they allowed us to pay it next time. The service is usually attentive and very polite whenever my family comes here. Now I can't speak on behalf of other customers, but I can assume they're bias too. I've seen how the workers here don't pay as much attention to other customers compared to regulars, but this review is based on my experience. My personally favorites are the Cheese Shrimp, clams with black bean sauce, bbq, and fried flat noodles. Cheese Shrimp is 10/10. I don't know why other places don't make this. Plenty of other restaurants around this area makes cheese lobster, but not many places make cheese shrimp. The flavors are amazing and the shrimp is of average size. It is pretty pricey for what you get, but you're paying for the flavor. Clams with black bean sauce are 8/10. I personally prefer thicker sauce (make your jokes) with this dish. This is one of the few places that does this. The flavors are above average, but nothing too amazing. I can recommend this however because plenty of restaurants make this pretty bland. Their BBQ is the best in Dallas. I haven't found any place that makes it better. My personal favorites are the roast duck and the roast pork. You should usually come earlier in the day to get the roast pork if you are craving it. They tend to run out of the good parts if you come after the afternoon. This is easily above a 10/10. Friend flat noodles are a 9/10. These taste like authentic fried flat noodles. After having some in China, plenty of places in Dallas makes their fried flat noodles taste more like the vegetarian flavor as opposed to how most places make it in China. It's not a bad thing if people like the vegetarian flavor fried flat noodles, but I prefer my noodles heavily sauced to make it dark than yellow. read more

Horrible waitress & place!!!! Super money hungry. Our bill came to $70.30 and I gave her $90. She took my money and just said thank you and kept it. I told her to give me my change so she did. I stuck my money into my purse because I had to bag up my left overs but she kept looking and standing next to me and then said to me that tip wasn't included. I was so mad at her rudeness. 20% of our bill is $14.06 and we left her a $16 dollar tip. NEVER AGAIN WE WILL COME BACK. It's the way she went about asking for a tip that made me mad. read more

The cheapest roast duck I have ever had! Yummy. We also had the twice-cooked sliced pork with vegetables. It was disappointingly mostly just cabbage. I like cabbage but not much variety. A few tiny pieces of green pepper and bamboo and onion as well. But I guess for these prices you can't ask for much more. But we'll definitely be back. The service was very quick, which was nice for us as we were in a rush. The ambience was modern, nice and quiet, not your usual hole-in-the-wall cafeteria-style place. We waited in line as everyone else, first come first serve, but upon arriving to the front of the line the "host" if you could call him that decided to intentionally seat a group of 3 before us. We were 2. His excuse was because there were 4 of them, but I noticed that it didn't matter the number of people as he just so happened to know these people. My go-to are the orange chicken, combination fried rice, crispy noodles (it's a mixture of seafood in a thick, gelatinous, brown gravy that rests on top of fried crispy noodles), Chinese broccoli, and the crispy pork. This place is the real deal. Cash only and BYOB. It will ruin you for any other run-of-the-mill Chinese food restaurant you come across. You can order off their huge menu and win every time but we always steer our guests to the Chef's menu. If they are cooking something "Hong Kong style", order it. We fell in love with the Soft Shell Crab Hong Kong style. Also fantastic is the Wonton Soup, the BBQ Pork Soft Noodle and the Orange Beef. The Orange Beef will blow your mind, especially if you are used to a heavily-breaded super-duper sweet American version of this dish. I registered on Yelp because of this place. Amazing food, and I'm a huge food snob who eats out a lot from ethnic dives to high end places and cooks pretty much everything from scratch. What we ate: BBQ pork, roast duck, beef flat noodles, water spinach with garlic, sesame chicken (because my wife loves it). Everything I'd get again, and I get the feeling this is a place where everything on the menu is going to be perfect. I feel compelled now to try everything on the extensive menu, and t try to duplicate some of the items at home.
