Pretty good for Dallas, I must say, and pretty cheap too. You can do a lot worse with Chinese food, and I'm guessing it doesn't get much better than this for the Lone Star State. Just average. I was attracted to the lights per say by the overall 4 stars. I ordered the Roast Duck and BBQ Pork Noodle soup. Plus added wontons. What I got was very salty soup and small portion. The restaurant is tucked into the corner of a shopping strip. Surprisingly this one appears to be a lot cleaner than other ones I've been to. We found this place after finding out the Raman restaurant up the street was closed for remodeling. It is located in a shopping center just south of Belt Line/Main next to a reflexology place. When we entered you could see roasted ducks hanging as well as the bbq pork. They told us to seat ourselves so we found a booth. The restaurant was generally clean, and had a lot of tables. There were even some larger tables that fit 8-10 people. The menu was vast, and the prices were reasonable. A server came to take out order as soon as we sat down. Then another within a minute. They seemed annoyed. I tried the roast pork and the duck. The dishes were okay enough to come back. They only take CASH! I get it, but it is inconvenient. First off, I'm from Houston, so I am extremely about Chinese barbecue. This place is alright. Not great, but not the worst. The prices are decent comparatively for Dallas, but more so cheaper than a lot of restaurants. I have been here a handful of times, and its either a hit or miss. The first time I came here, the food was good. The meat was juicy and tender and the food came out in a timely matter, not much to complain about there. But, there were some other times where the customer service was just horrible. The one time I came here, we waited for quite awhile to get a table. The place wasn't even crowded. When we finally got seated and our food orders came out, my food was cold. I ordered the roasted pork. First off, the dish is supposed to be hot, obviously, but also the skin is supposed to be crispy. Now, I'm not too picky about the skin. Although I would like it super crunchy, a little crunchy would be okay for me. At this time, however, the skin was soggy and chewy. Not okay at all. As for the other dishes if not the classic barbecue, I haven't had any complaints. The fried rice and stir fried flat noodles are usually really good. I like the eggs and oysters dish as well. The soups are also good. As for the rice, it tends to run on the drier side. Some people like that, I personally don't. If I'm going to eat it with soups, for example, I wouldn't mind, but most of the time, I just buy straight up barbecue which is already pretty dry so that doesn't mix well with my palate. The customer service isn't that great, but you can't really expect much from these restaurants from what I have witnessed. They aren't very friendly and will usually hastily seat you and ask for your orders right away. After you get your check, which this place is cash only by the way, they usually remind you to tip them which I always do, they don't have to remind me. In conclusion, I only come here when my friends want to come or when I am in dire need of Chinese barbecue and don't want to drive too far. Recommendation: if you want to buy barbecue only, you are better off ordering to go in the front. It is a lot cheaper and you can always make your own rice the way you like it at home. read more

Been eating here since I was a kid. The portions are huge and tastes the same after 20+ years. Their wonton soup, fried rice, roast duck and roast pork are the best! This is my go-to place for Chinese food. I have gone to quite a few Chinese restaurants and this is still my favorite one. This place is kind of tiny and kind of has a "dirty" feel to it, but that's how some of the restaurants in Asia are like to (if that makes up for anything). Their rice, soup, sides, and noodles are very good. I usually order their beef flat noodles. My friends like their roasted duck/pork over rice. Their food is flavorful. It's not like a home-cooked Chinese meal, but it's better than most Chinese restaurants (in my opinion). The only thing I would change about this place is that I wish they would take credit cards. All of their locations all take cash. The second thing I would change is the customer service. The waitresses seem to be distracted and aren't very prompt or attentive to their customers needs. The cashier in the front, whenever I pick up a to-go order doesn't really even look at me. She just gives me my food, tells me how much it is, and doesn't even smile at me--unless you tip her. -____-" So, until their customer service gets better, I'd give this place a four out of five stars. read more

The food here never disappoints; super authentic Cantonese / Hong Kong style dishes! We always get at least one of their bbq meat then some noodles. Hubby likes their pan fried beef ones while I prefer the wonton noodle soup. The only inconvenience is that we must make sure we have enough cash. My wife and I had an hour to kill before an appointment in Dallas so we decided to stop by this place for lunch. Upon entering, the place looked so much like the one in North Richland Hills (furniture, etc) so we figured it's the same owner since the names are the same. I ordered the Beef Stew Wonton Noodle Soup and my wife ordered the Wonton Noodle Soup. She also saw a delicious looking plate at the next table so she ordered the same. It was called the Hot Pot. While we found the arrangement of the tables quite crammed up, we still enjoyed our lunch. The soup was not as price economical as the restaurant we regularly visit at Arlington (King Chinese BBQ) as it was about $2 more but it was delicious as well. We were utterly surprised when paying because as we handed the waitress the check along with my wife's credit card, she was rebuffed with three words, "Cash only please." I had to ask her a couple of times to confirm if indeed she meant that we couldn't pay with the card and she replied with the same four words, "Cash only please." My wife had brought about $30 in singles so we had to embarrassingly count enough to pay the bill which was about $26+. Parking during lunch can be very difficult as the lot is very small. read more

I don't know a whole lot about Dallas nor its culinary tastes so when I stopped through while shooting my documentary, Spencer was back visiting and offered to take me to several places to eat. This place, was his favorite Chinese restaurant. He was not only excited about taking me here, but also excited about eating the food here that he hadn't eaten in a while. We met two of his friends and ordered a ton of dishes. Please don't hate me-I honestly don't remember exactly what but it's because I let Spencer do the ordering so didn't pay too much attention to it. All the food we got scored a strong 3 1/2 to 4. I told Spencer that if you were to go eat at an authentic Chinese restaurant in Chinatown of NYC or SF, this is the standard that you would get there. So I was pretty impressed. An authentic Cantonese restaurant, right in the heart of Dallas...or just slightly north. How do I know this place is authentic? My folks were in town, I thought I would impress them with some local chinese restaurants. Right when we walked in, the owner cracked out the Cantonese and welcomed us. We ordered a variety of dishes, the portions are huge by the way. And the dishes were tasty. If you order several dishes I think white rice is complementary. Still, we ordered Yueng Chow Fried Rice and it was one of the best dishes. We also had beef with Gai Lan chow ( I would recommend just going with broccoli), a rice noodle dish, a tofu/mushroom dish, and a sweet and sour pork (don't order that one). This place is supposed to specialize in BBQ so I would recommend ordering BBQ Pork or Duck instead. The seafood chow mein and king pap dishes are not that great. The beef noodle soup is pretty good. This place was great and is one of my top choices for chinese restaurants. It's cash only but they charged me tax which was weird. Either way, the prices were good and even my picky folks approved. I've been to at least 3 different first chinese bbq locations and this by far was my least favorite, the taste of the dishes weren't as distinct as the previous ones I have been to. Don't get me wrong, the food was still good but I would probably go to the one in Plano before I came here again. Our party of 5 shared the dishes family style and we had: spicy softshell crab (on special menu), chinese snowpeas, crab and asparagus soup, cashew chicken, and a dish I don't remember. The softshell crab was the best dish, the spices on it complimented the crab and went well with it. The crab asparagus soup was pretty bland and lacked any real flavor to it, but it was nice that they used real crab instead of imitation. Overall, it was a good lunch and it hit the spot. read more

My wife's family swears by this place. It is regularly picked for large family dinners. The food is always tasty. If you come earlier in the day, you'll get better cuts of meat -- BBQ pork, etc... Growing up, I used to order wonton noodles here EVERY TIME we came to Richardson for our groceries (back when Asia world supermarket was there). I want to say it was because of my noodle obsession that came back with me when I go back to China. It's cash only which a million other yelpers have said. I like their roasted duck, it's the most flavorful meat I've ever had and I love the texture. Their wonton noodle soup is great as well, it has that flavorful yet very light broth with thin egg noodles that really fill you up. One of their dish with crispy egg noodles and seafood and veggies on top is also very good. The service at this location was very good for a Chinese restaurant.
