Let me start by saying I met Jonathan a long time ago via Uber and he mentioned he did massage therapy. I wanted to hold onto his info for the future in case I needed his services and I added him on Instagram so that I'd always have a connection in case I lost his card (which I did). Fast forward to now and I was in need of a massage for what felt like a pinched nerve that was causing some numbness in my lower left leg. Jonathan was super quick to reply on a Saturday and get me in one of his remaining open slots. I reached out around noon and he confirmed a 3:30 appointment so I was extremely grateful because I've never had numbness like this before. He assessed what was going on, asked some detailed questions and we went with a deep tissue specialty massage. He only felt like I needed a 30 minute massage to get the circulation going and I felt loosened up in my leg once he was done. So professional, understanding and just an overall cool individual. I have another appointment set for this Wednesday to continue the work and I'm actually feeling better as the days go on so I know he's already helped a great deal! It's Monday and I feel less numbness than what I was experiencing this past Friday night when I first noticed it after doing some yoga. I met Jonathan and his wife at a health fair. During the 15 minute chair shoulder and back massage I explained to Jonathan that I was in Urgent Care a week ago with back spasms and neck pain and the doctor prescribed me with 2 medications to stop the spasms and to help me sleep. I took that for 3 days and stopped because anyone who knows me knows I do not do medication. After Jonathan's shoulder and back massage, I made an appointment on the spot, because I prefer to heal naturally. Guys, it was an excellent massage. Jonathan is very professional, asked the right questions, asked me if I was comfortable, targeted the areas I wrote on the intake sheet, and talked me through was he was doing. Before coming here, I've never gotten a massage before, and I never though I'd ever get a massage. I don't like being touched by people, I'm incredibly ticklish, and I just don't know massage etiquette...do I stay quiet during my massage? Do I talk? I don't know. However, I injured my back a few months ago. I was going to physical therapy. I've been to the chiropractor, acupuncturist, and cyrotherapy. Massage wasn't even on my radar (because of the reasons listed above) but I decided to give it a try. My muscles all throughout my left side of my back and down my leg were tight and it was extremely painful to walk. Felt like my muscles were being twisted and ripped apart whenever I took a step, so I called Jonathan and he was able to schedule me the next morning. One of the most painful things I've ever done in my life. Oh my god. Did not have to worry about tickling because it was overpowered by the pain from Jonathan's firm hands. Jonathan was SOO kind and he made me feel so comfortable. I was afraid of being insecure and awkward and Jonathan quickly put me at ease. He's funny, charming, very cool, very personable. Love him! I left my massage able to walk again! Given, I still had some pain (he's not a miracle worker) but I felt better after that massage than I felt in more than a month. The next day..super sore to the touch. Felt like I was bruised all over, but there was no bruising. And it was amazing! I had to go to a wedding the day after and I wasn't dying while sitting in uncomfortable chairs and standing around chit-chatting with people. I was sooo glad I went to Jonathan. And since there was still pain (like I said, he's not a wizard) I went back the next week and the next two weeks after. I felt amazing every time. Jonathan really takes the time to listen to what your needs are and where your pain is and really works with you. I felt like he truly cared about me and my health and pain and I loved going to see him. He texted me a few times checking up on me and seeing how my back is doing! He's so awesome. Andd, he has an amazing deal to buy 3 massages and get 1 free. Such a good deal! I still have one massage left so I'm waiting to use it for when I really need it. Kind of pricier than other massage places I've scouted out, but he's worth every single penny. That was it, no offer to finish my 15 minutes or anything. Music was also not relaxing, more like party music. I love massages and I love them more when I feel like there is progress. I am a teacher and I am often at my computer for hours, plus I have TMJ, so these combos are no fun ever. I had originally come here for an old lower back injury, and Ellie did a fantastic job. When I found out they took HSA I was ecstatic! My lower back injury comes and goes but my TMJ can get really bad and affects my whole body, especially my shoulders and neck. I have seen Jonathan the owner as well, and he is extremely kind and knowledgeable in how the body work. Ellie is strong and creates an extremely relaxing environment. I always feel amazing when I leave. If you have a medical condition that may be alleviated by massage, I recommend it. My TMJ may never be 100% but it slowly gets better every time I go. Jonathan definitely knows what he's doing, and I don't say this a lot for massage therapists. I'm very picky and I prefer a very firm deep tissue massage. He was able to deliver it and also gave me some good tips on what I can do to relieve muscle pain. Making an appointment was really easy. Just message him on yelp! You have to make this apart of your self-care routine, see him 1-2 times a month ESPECIALLY if you have severe back pain. I am a licensed massage therapist. I know quality or the lack thereof immediately. Jonathan has all the 5 star reviews necessary for you to take a chance, because he deserves them! The thing about massage is the client needs to feel comfortable and be honest about what hurts or feels good. Many therapists watch the clock and charge to the hilt. Not Jonathan. He cares so much about the quality he provides that the client knows he is not only in firm hands, but is receiving the methodical and mesmerizing benefit of good-sensitive-magical-healing hands as well. I was able to do 8 hours of massage with Jonathan over a two-week period. I feel like my entire body has been reborn. This is a huge blessing in my book. We demand so much from our bodies and so rarely give them the care and consideration they need. Yes. Just go. Book it. This isn't your generic spa massage. I'd classify this place as a muscle tension relief center! Fabulous option for athletes, runners, weight lifters....people who are extremely active outdoors and yet tied to a desk for most of the day for work like myself. The music was different (R&B), but smooth and relaxing. He got into my tight messed up areas and put me back together! Very professional - showed me new massage techniques. I strained muscles in my upper arm and shoulder badly - intense pain that completely sidelined me. When I went to Firm Hands, I was hoping to be worked on by an experienced massage therapist. In the past, I've had therapists work on me who were able to diagnose my specific muscle issues by using their intelligent fingers. They could tell me what was wrong, and knew where to dig into, to fix my problem. That was not my experience at Firm Hands. This is a just another Massage Envy type of place with a staff who aren't that good at their job. They specialize in selling massage packages, not in massage. When I walked in, the guy at the front desk asked me basic questions about my issue, which is normal. He then tried to specifically diagnose and conclude the cause of my muscle issue. Trying to specifically diagnose muscle issues without a physical examination is unprofessional and kind of stupid. He said "frozen shoulder" repeatedly. He also tried to conclude that the cause was my work, which involves computers. That put me on the defensive. I had already explained that the issue was caused by spending the night sleeping with all of my weight on my shoulder. When he persisted in claiming computer work was the cause, I should have left. However, I was in such intense pain, and had waited in bed all day for the appointment, that the thought of walking out didn't cross my mind. Regarding his diagnosis, the next day I saw my doctor. She said it wasn't a "frozen shoulder" or a pinched nerve. She said that I was experiencing intense muscle spasms. I believe a reputable and competent massage clinic would have drawn the same conclusion and would not have rushed to judgement before laying a finger on me. The massage therapist who eventually worked on me was inexperienced and a little weird. I made it clear that I needed my shoulder worked on. I took off my shirt and laid down on the table. He asked if I wanted a full body massage. I said no. After some back and forth I agreed to completely disrobe, which seemed unnecessary (I wanted him to dig into my shoulder). He spent most of the time massaging my wrist and talking about referred pain. I have no idea why I needed to get naked for him to massage my wrist. Later I concluded that his wrist massage did me no good. Adjacent to the massage room was an aerobics class! Forget about the relaxing new age soundtrack typical of a massage room. This was a hard-driving beat and a woman shouting instructions to her class! Insane! The massage table was heated and very comfortable - that's why I'm giving two stars instead of one. It was a soft and warm table. The next day, my doctor fit me in and diagnosed my issue -severe muscle spasms. The following day I went to an Asian spa. Through the magic of Google translate, I explained my issue. When the therapist was done I felt 100% better. When the pain returned later it still hurt like heck, but was no where near as intense. The healing process had begun. My conclusion: spend less and go to an Asian spa. Use Google translate to describe your issue (to bridge the language gap). I went to a Chinese place. Before I arrived, I typed the issue into my smartphone and then minimized the app. When the therapist entered the massage room, I handed her my phone. From there, all I had to do was say "harder" when she asked if the pressure was ok. read more

So I got my first massage from Jonathan last fall and it was so good I bought 3 more on the spot. I decided to wait til I had all four sessions with him to write my review, and sadly for me that time has come! I am a relatively new small business owner who went from working on her feet being active all day to spending majority of the time sitting on the computer. This lifestyle change along with the added stress of starting a business led me to some very serious upper back and neck pain, stiffness, and headaches! I don't really have a lot of experience with sports or deep tissue massages, but I'm pretty sure what I received from Jonathan was a 5-star massage. I was having tension headaches almost every day, and I haven't had a headache since I left. He really gets in there and isolates every muscle.
