Great collection of stuff but pricey! My all-time favorite store in Seattle for unique finds and a perfect place if you are looking for one-of-a-kind gifts or gag gifts. From the outside, it might look like any regular fancy store but when you walk in, you'll see that every little thing is so unique like it was handpicked that it makes me want to buy it all! LOL! And if you are looking for fun gifts for friends, you've got to check out this place - Right from the bacon flavored toothpaste and dancing little Christmas trees, to underwear in a can. Gag gifts aside, I like their collection of Home ware, decor and jewelry. They also have some baby clothes, handbags, toys, perfumes and stationery. As awesome as all the stuff is, it seems a little pricey. I have found some of the same things online for a lesser price than what it was priced for at the store. There's enough here to find something for everyone in this store, including techno geeks (Star Wars USB sticks), modern girls (Tokyo Milk, rhinestone headbands), and eco-conscious (Envirosax, water bottles). Find things for the home (lights, candles, drinking glasses, vases), things for pets, things to wear (gloves, belts, scarves, jewelry), things to carry (lunch bags, purses, wallets), things to hug (Ugly Dolls), things to read or write in (books, greeting cards, journal) and gag type gifts (bacon tie). The selection of items is quite impressive in scope and I get the feeling that they have holiday items for every holiday. This place has a lot of modern, clever housewares. So if you're looking for a souvenir and want something unique to take home that's not a thimble that says "Seattle" this is a good place. (This place doesn't even carry stuff with "Seattle" all over it so it's even better if you're a local.) There were black and white photos of letters of the alphabet with frames. They were WAY overpriced. It's a cute idea to make a name placard that way but you can do it cheaper by half at sites I've seen online. Fireworks had an impressive selection of cute string lights and pretty fabric purses. It's right near the Monorail in Westlake Center should you have to suddenly zoom towards the Sky Needle and pretend you're from the future - that is, the future according to 1962. read more

Fireworks is a great store when you are looking for an interesting gift but falls a little flat because of how eclectic their collection is. There are some beautiful things in the store. Great picture frames, little boxes, even children's gear. It's a tad pricey but justified in that they do sell lovely artsy gifts. I really do love their books on a variety of subjects. Especially their funny kids books. The problem is that there aren't a lot of things I would purchase. Things that are nice to look at, funny, pretty but not practical. Fireworks sells wee wee tepees. Yes. They do. HAH! They're little hats for baby boys' wees so that mommies/daddies won't get peed in the face. Truth. I would love to own a place like this. Love LOVE to own a place like this (not just because of the statement above). Then again, I have an affinity for shiny objects and clever cards (anyone that carries Borealis cards is cool by me = cards with black and white photography and quotes). I believe this may be a Seattle chain.. which is bad because it's so far away but good because I wanted to buy pretty much every other thing I got my hands on.. from those recycled belt buckles, to cd cases and photo albums made out of license plates, to cute books, photo stands and boxes, ugh.. sooo cool! On top of the awesome merchandise.. they have an awesome staff. The woman that helped me was very approachable, helpful, and generally a sweetheart. I was particularly attracted to the stuff by Brian Andreas, who is an artist that writes books (or a writer that is also an artist?). His drawings are on the sillier side but the books he writes, flash fiction accompanied by pictures, are so succint and poignant and lovely. Something I obviously have issues with sometimes (succint.. puh!). haha.. But the amazing part about his work is that the proceeds go to different orgs.. like the things I saw in the store went to a cancer organization and currently there are posters on his website that are going to people that were affected by the Iowa 2008 flood. I love supporting artists but when they're tied to a non-profit it really tugs on my heart. Awesome awesome awesome. This place put me in an amazing mood. :) read more

I love all the Fireworks stores (and I think I've been to them all!). Whereas I'd have given this Westlake Center site 4 stars in the past, I now would give it 5 stars, since it moved across the mall to a larger site (still on the main floor, but now on the same side as the Made in Washington store and PF Changs). Not only is the store now larger and more open, but the staff now seems less....hovering (I wonder if they just seemed that way in the old location, when circulation was more cramped. I'm not sure. The employees now seem less intrusive, which I like). As usual, the merchandise is wonderfully eclectic, with artisan-made jewelry, funky accessories, gifts for nearly any recipient and any location, and a great baby/kids' area. (Used to be all Fireworks had a nice selection of contemporary Judaica, but no more, alas). They have a fabulous selection of holiday gifts and décor during the holiday seasons (especially XMas and Halloween). I have never left this store empty-handed. That about sums it up! read more

You already know I love this place. It's like schizophrenic in the way that I am. Full of good things, just maybe a little too full. Things are expensive, but not really. This ain't no target. The items are carefully picked out to range from 'laugh out loud' to 'WOW that's amazing' and everywhere in between. 3.5 Stars Fireworks is a surprisingly cute store that I ignored for years. I think the entryway is ugly and assumed the goods inside would be as tacky as the outside. I was wrong. I have since purchased many a unique gift at Fireworks and usually stop in when looking for something for a friend. I can hardly begin to describe the merchandise because it is rather eclectic/random. Jewelry, purses, kids stuff, books, magnets, kitchenwares, small electronics, stationary, lip balm, home decor... ranging from gag gift and funny to utilitarian and fancy. I particularly enjoy the stuff from the Anne Taintor line, sure to bring a smile to the faces of your (snarky) feminist friends. This is basically a step up from shopping for gifts at Urban Outfitters. Not bestowing 4 Stars since many of the items are a little pricey and while friendly, I've never found the sales associates to be particularly helpful. read more

As other people have stated, Fireworks is a great place for window shopping. They have some very unique and interesting items in their store, including jewelry, beautiful art, and toys for children. Even though I don't often buy anything at Fireworks, I always enjoy visiting and seeing what sort of new things they have. It's fun to spend time in the store just looking at their items, even when I know I have no intention of purchasing anything. I recently bought a beautiful red wallet there, which I love. I had been eying it for some time, but the price ($28) was pretty high for a cheap-skate/bargain-hunter like myself. Luckily, my brother gave me the money to buy the wallet for a graduation present. So I guess that is a draw back to the store...prices are high and I rarely want to purchase anything because of that. But that doesn't mean that I don't absolutely love just walking through the store and oohing and aahing over all the goodies they have. It's always a lot of fun. read more

So many cute things... I found THE cutest salt&pepper shakers there. And I used to think that the ones I have were the cutest in the world. They look like retro metal dogs and it runs on wind-up. The red one for pepper and the blue one for salt. Can you imagine?? Passing the salt by winding it up? A cute dog salt shaker rolls over to you from across the table!?!?? **sigh** Also I found an adorable little girls dress which I have absolutely no use for,,,, But it was soooo cute. I would recommend it if you are looking for a pretty flower girls dress and your wedding color is deep red. Use that dress! it was $48! and I thought it was cheap for how cute it was. This is the kind of store I can spend hours in, because there's so much to look at. In fact, I think we did spend at least a half an hour here, and even bought a couple items for gifts. Fireworks is a great little store. To start off - yes, they are a little pricey. However, their selection of neat and oddly fun random things make this shop shine. Their employees are always very polite and helpful, and they have so much packed in such a small space you can easily lose yourself for a half an hour or more. They change their stock often, so you can see new items pretty frequently. Not to mention, many of the things they sell are not politically correct, so it's probably a reason why this store has a special place in my heart. I love going to Fireworks for gifts, because there is something for everyone here. Nothing is "run-of-the-mill" or like anything you'll find at your average gift shop. I hesitated to come in as it looked a bit like a tourist trap but I ended up shopping for over an hour looking at everything, and spending a chunk of cash on some lovely gifts. The jewelry is beautiful. So many very clever greeting cards and tchotchkes! And lots of ingenious useful things, as well. The only thing that could have made my visit better would have been if the employees toned down the attitude. This is my favorite Seattle store. They carry Harvey's Seatbelt Bags which makes me very happy because very few shops do. This is a great store for gifts for a woman of any age. Fireworks has much better locations than this not-so-fireworks one at Westlake Center. It left much to be desired in comparison to its sister stores at SeaTac and Bellevue Square. On the other hand....j'adore Fireworks Gallery...my dreams are fabricated in the handmade jewelry, snarky $11.50 socks, Bunnies By The Bay children's items, pink Himalayan salts, sex instruction books, seat belt bags, Space Noodles, fragrant candles, teas, hand-blown glass items.... I digress. Westlake Fireworks. You can and should do better. If this is the only Fireworks experience you've had: GO TO ANOTHER ONE where they aren't hovering over you like you're a thief and there are sooooo many additional gift giving, and desirable items to add to your own personal wish list. read more

Lots of overpriced junk that you will never use. You give this stuff as a gift and most likely it will end up either in a box in the garage or given back to you in a few years for your birthday. I want their voodoo knife set but its for $100. I saw the same thing at a different store in Queen Anne for only $70. Fireworks is pretty pricey and some of their items you can find at other stores for a cheaper price. I also found a drunken coaster set they were selling for $20 but Urban Outfitters had them for only $18. However, I like going there just to see whats in stock. They have random items like jewelry boxes, lamps, stuffed toys, books, kids toys, and others. Most of their items are for decoration purposes. I like going there for their cards since its not the typical Hallmark - drug store kind of cards. read more

I love a lot of the creative and unique items that are sold in this store, though they are overpriced. I would give more stars if it wasn't for the employees. There are always too many standing around staring suspiciously at any shopper (the ratio of employees to shoppers is usually at least double if not more). I recently was shopping for the first glass holiday ornaments of the season when I saw a tote bag I liked, so I took it off the rack and was looking at the features. A girl came out of nowhere asking me in a distressed way, "Do you have a question about the bag???" and I just said, "No... I like it so I am looking at it..." and she seemed really confused. It annoyed me so I put the bag back and went up to the counter to pay for the ornaments I had already picked out, but stopped at a revolving rack of items first. I had turned the rack a little bit and raised my eyes to see another employee just ahead of the rack facing me and staring me down from about 4 feet away! There were 2 employees behind the counter looking either confused and/or suspicious and/or distressed, and 2 other employees to the left of the counter talking, and just me, a shopper with purchases and my fiance by my side at that point. I felt so many eyes on me for whatever reason that I immediately stopped looking at the other items and went up to the counter to quickly pay for my items and get the hell out of there. That transaction was also just as awkward and non-smooth as the shopping experience so I was happy to leave the store when I was finally done. The 6 or so employees I had to pass by on my way out didn't say or do the normal retail courtesy thing either, no smiles or thanks, just weirdness. I guess I should mention that NO I am not some kind of weirdo that has a 'look' that should incite this kind of reaction from people working in a store like this. I worked just up the block at Victoria's Secret in Pioneer Place for 4 and a half years as well, I know how to conduct myself both as a consumer and as an employee of a retail shop. I had avoided going into Fireworks quite a few times though I saw cute things through their windows before because I always saw so many employees standing around looking for something to do or get excited about. It's like they have brought this odd sense of paranoia about their shoppers on themselves, and since there are never enough shoppers then they get extra confused when there are even a handful of shoppers so they end up really ruining the experience for I would imagine EVERYONE. And the way I was treated definitely directly correlates with the amount of my purchase. I very well could have spent $100 - $200 more dollars if I was given actual customer courtesy and even help, even being ignored would have been better, so I could at least shop without giving up due to feeling uncomfortable. So to the Fireworks store in Westlake, you really need to re-evaluate your store values, and then reorganize personnel accordingly. I will not be going to your store again so I can avoid putting myself through that, and I will share this story with my friends and colleagues. Let me know if you guys re-write your standard operating procedure manuals and refresh your staff, however. read more

Fireworks Gallery is the store I would most like to spend 3 days just getting lost in. It's like a museum for the fun and funky. Colorful, beautiful, sometimes silly, but always eye candy. The jewelry is stunning, unusual and well-made. Many of the items have an interesting history, like, for example the mezzuzahs made from disarmed nuclear weapons - I mean, does it get any cooler than that? First of all I really like the store overall. I think the variety and qualify of merchandise is excellent and there are so many neat products. I had a recent problem with a return. I was charged for the item instead of refunded, which I noticed a few days later. I called and spoke to Amy (one of the managers). She was pleasant, efficient and took care of the issue over the phone. It was great and she is an excellent member of the Fireworks team! read more
