Here's the thing. The management changed 3 months ago, and this is not longer a tiki themed bar. The staff we encountered on a Saturday afternoon clearly had little to no experience bartending, and the person designated as a bartender did not arrive until after they opened, so this was problematic. In an interesting decision, they did have the TVs turned to college football, but somehow none of the games was the Nebraska game being played while we were there. ?? People from out of town were staying at the Comfort Inn attached to this place. Seemed like a good idea to meet up there so the travelers didn't have to drive. The problem is, the place was closed. Their website says they are open from 3:00 to 10:00 on Monday. They weren't. The desk clerk at the hotel said they weren't affiliated and didn't know anything. Seemed to think they were permanently closed. If so, the website needs to show that. If not, the website needs to update their real hours. read more

Ok it was lowkey stank and taste like chicken balls Although I feel that the vents were steaming hot air on me it was like I was in the sauna this was so disrespectful. Gun shots at 2:15 am fired finally ended the loud music coming from a party truck parked in front of Firewater Grille. As a hotel guest at the attached Comfort Suites I complained to the Firewater Grille manager & he told me to call the police! My hotel phone was not working, my cell phone was dead, & I didn't think that was my job! He also said the truck would be leaving soon. I retreated to my hotel room on the 8th floor, overlooking the parking and watched from above to see when the truck would leave. Instead at approximately 2:15 a.m. I heard what appeared to be gunshots and saw all the party goers fleeing for their lives along with three cars speeding out of the parking lot. About 10 minutes later the police arrived. There appeared to be no security at the hotel/restaurant and the hotel manager absent. The hotel clerk, a young girl, was unable to offer any help. I'm staying at the hotel to which this place is attached. The food was good & the server nice, but when I looked at the receipt it just wasn't adding up--the total was $6 more than it should have been. So I asked the server about it and he was confused too, so he went to ask the manager. The answer? I was upcharged for the cheese sauce which accompanies the tortilla chips--in spite of the fact that the menu clearly states that it is one of the included choices (as opposed to a couple of others, which were listed as upcharges). It wasn't the server's fault--he seemed as confused as I was. That's fine--whatever. I'm not super confrontational--I just learn from a given experience and adjust accordingly. So...lesson learned; I won't be back. Plenty of other restaurant choices around here that don't tack hidden, mystery charges to a customer's bill. read more

Firewater Grille is located inside the Comfort Inn so I was surprised that they also did room service for the motel. I thought the menu had many choices but I decided to go with the French Onion Soup for $5. The soup was awesome and came by room service in two bowls with lids to the room. The soup was excellent and room service took only 10 minutes or less. Nachos were also good with lots of nachos. They came in room service inside what I compared to a medium pizza box. Lots of ingredients and very tasty. I will come back again whether I'm staying at the motel or not. read more

Not a fancy place but not a full blown dive bar. Cool vibe. It was probably a spot in its prime. Food was surprisingly good, came out quickly. The nachos are a must! It's a bar. It has bar food. The staff was nice and the drinks were strong. It was fairly priced. I had the blacken chicken Alfredo which was ok. It tasted like it was made from a pre package frozen mix. I will say I was presently surprised with the side salad. It was the best part of the meal. Good lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and croutons. There was a couple orders of the seafood pasta in our party which, looked decent but, left a pile of butter at the bottom of the plate. The kids burgers were terrible, none of those got eaten. I think the 2.5 stars this place has received is fair. According to the Yelp star ranking, 2 stars means "Meh. I've experienced better." This describes my experience here perfectly. Met my parents here because they had a restaurant.com coupon. This wasn't my first visit, but perhaps my 6th over the years. This place started out good when they first opened, then seems to get worse as time passes. The service was spot on. Our waitress was quick to get drink orders as well as food delivered. The problem was the food. It was $1 taco night which none of us were expecting, but sounded like a good deal so 3 out of the 4 of us ordered tacos. While they were a basic taco they needed flavor and some heat. The salsa did not help with the heat at all. They were pretty small as well, and our waitress was confused when asked if they had fried flour tacos. We were told no, yet the "hard" taco came out as fried which was quite confusing after we were told they did not fry flour shells for tacos. I ordered the black and blue burger. I was pretty happy that I could order it how I wanted it cooked, so I ordered it medium. It came with blue cheese, bacon and sauteed onions. I was surprised to see the sauteed onions were red. I immediately cut into my burger and it was not medium but well done. I sent it back but kept my side of grilled vegetables. When this place first opened they had the BEST grilled veggies! Chunks of broccoli, cauliflower and green beans thrown on a hot grill with butter, served up with a char on all. YUM! Not anymore. What I received was tons of what appeared to be perhaps white squash or zucchini...really not sure but it was flavorless and crunchy, with a couple broccoli florets and 3 green beans mixed in. Yuck. I picked out the greens and ate them while I waited for my burger which did come back out with SOME pink...basically medium well plus. The flavor of the burger was just okay. We decided to eat at the hotel we were staying at even though it only had 2 1/2 stars. So my expectations are very low. But we were pleasantly surprised. My husband's burger was wonderful cooked to order and my chicken salad was great. There were even able to give me grilled chicken instead of fried. We went on Saturday, which was karaoke night (that's always entertaining) and it was pretty crowded but the waitress still came over quickly and brought our drinks quickly. This little hole in the wall wasn't much of a site on Sunday, with barely anyone in. It was surprising but we decided to stick around and try it. Glad we did. The nachos on the appetizer list were awesome with the pulled pork. We downed them very quickly! The Hawaiian pizza was also very good and cooked exactly the way I would expect. The chicken sandwich was also tasty but not as good as the nachos. The tiny tacos we ordered looked like something you'd get at the grocery store and tasted as such- and prevents the 5 star rating. I've been staying at the hotel about 12 times a year for the past 7-8 years. I normally go to the bar because of how convenient it is when staying at the hotel. I can drink and not drive. Needless to say I've been many times. In all the years I've been going they have never been able to get their act together. The food is hit or miss, never get the steak and almost always they are all out of multiple items both in food and drink. The waitstaff is absolutely ridiculous. I've learned if I sit at a table I won't get served for a very long time. If at the bar, I'm still going to have to say something to get the waiters attention but it is possible. If I want a second drink, I will have to be prepared to wait until I've decided I don't need the drink that badly and I begin to pay my Bill and leave. Paying the Bill will also take a ridiculous amount of time. I've never waited so long to give my money to someone. I've never witnessed them have waitstaff that have been anything but very lazy, dismissive, or flaky. They don't have to be busy to operate this way. It doesn't matter what they look like inside they are always so overwhelmed by the most basic needs of customers. I usually order a very simple drink and often it's not that good. I wouldn't dare order anything challenging. They don't open when they say they will, often times they literally just don't open for hours because staff doesn't show up or they've changed hots of operations without mentioning it on the website of maps. They really need the bar rescue guy to show up and teach them how to operate a bar / grill. Every trip I tell myself I'm not going back there... This time I mean it. I'm done! read more

The server only had about five tables and the bar was barely half full. We got our food quickly delivered from the other waitress working. However, we were never returned to to ask if we needed another drink or if the food was good. Also, we received the free drink vouchers from staying at the hotel and were still charged for the two beers we got. We were in Omaha for spring break taking the kids to the Henry Doorly zoo and stayed in the comfort inn on grocer street. This restaurant is in their lobby so as it was late when we got to town decided to give it a try. They had a flat iron steak special for $11 posted at the door as you go in. I had a farm house burger with fries my son had a pepper pizza with Mac n cheese and my wife had the special. My burger was standard fair nothing special the fries were crispy so that was nice. My son devoured his pizza saying it was amazing the entire time, being 9 pm long past his normal dinner time I'm sure it could have been some of the hunger talking. The flat iron was cooked to medium rare as my wife requested and the sides were excellent she had a vegetable mix with some onion rings. Service was very slow at an hour after sitting we got our food and did not see the waitress again until she brought the check. It was very convenient but not something I would go out of my way to have again like most hotel restaurants. read more

The decor might give you a chuckle, but it's pretty tacky tiki. I do like the elements in the ceiling. My friend and I went here a few nights ago. Their bloody Mary's are good, as well as the martinis and the tropical bucket. You get to take home the bucket if you want it as a souvenir. The bartenders were nice, and we ordered some food. I got the mini chicken tacos which came with chipotle ranch. The ranch was good, but the tacos were overpriced and lackluster. They're those ones you can buy at a grocery store in a box in the frozen aisle. Not worth $7.25. The drinks aren't too bad on price. But if you want to go to a tiki bar, it's worth the trek downtown to go to Laka Lono instead despite their higher prices. read more

This is my 2nd time here because I'm staying at the Comfort Inn Hotel - cut to the chase - the food is really crappy, the taste is ver average, nothing to stand out of it. The Mac and cheese was terrible, it was simple pasta with cheese they probably keep frozen all the time. Plus, last night I wanted to order room service and the lady made me come down because the place was "packed", when I got here there were ONLY 4 people at the bar, the service from the red hair girl was slow and poor, took forever to take my order and for me to pay. Do not come to this place to eat, it's good to have a drink or two and thats it. I wouldnt come back again, probably only to claim my free complementary drinks fron the hotel. read more

I went in because they had advertised $1 taco's and beers on Tuesday nights. Taco's were pretty bad, beer they would dip glasses in a sink to and then immediately fill them so you get that delicious sink water in your beer. Yum. Service was really slow, you can sit at the bar 15-20 minutes trying to get someone's attention. Went the next week to try another menu item to see if just the cheap taco's were bad. Fish and chips not much better. While I was there I guess they were changing their policy and were passing around a flyer that their dress code was changing and they no longer allow sports jerseys. It was funny because I happened to be wearing a Flyers jersey watching the Flyers game on their TV. So I guess they don't want sports fans coming to their bar/grill. lol read more

Visiting from out of town and found this place on Yelp while looking for something close to the hotel that wasn't fast food. From the pictures it looked like a fun place and we found something on the menu that was posted for everyone. While they do have a kids menu, which was a nice surprise, I can't recommend this place for family dinners. We were expecting something along the lines of a Applebee's or TGI Fridays only with a fun Tiki theme but this place is really more of a bar that happens to serve food. I would rate the food as OK, I ordered the Volcano Platter and as pointed out in other reviews that I should have read the mini taco appetizer is obviously something you can find in the frozen food section of your grocery store and the onion rings might have been as well, I liked the quesadilla but had to dip it in the onion ring sauce as it was bland on its own. My son didn't care for his chicken tenders but my daughter liked her shrimp and my wife liked her chicken sandwich. Only downside is for what we paid we could have eaten at a much nicer place. The atmosphere was sort of there but not played up as much as you would expect. We went on a Saturday night and even though it wasn't very busy they were understaffed. The waitress was nice but obviously overwhelmed. If you are staying at a hotel nearby (or in the one attached) and are looking for a place you can walk to where you can get a few drinks then this place is for you but if you are taking the family out for dinner I would head elsewhere. read more

This place has gone so far downhill. I really don't know how else to say this: it is not a 'dive bar', it is a shit hole. The clientele is bottom feeders and the employees really, sincerely suck. The bathroom was trashed. I mean trashed. Toilet paper all over, a wet floor sign in the middle of the bathroom- yet there was no water on the floor (I think), and the soap dispenser was torn off the wall. They called last call, and then denied us a round of bottled beer, yet as we turned around, they served a round of shots and drinks to their friends. Shit hole. For real. read more

Wife and I went there for a steak special they were having. Got there about 8pm. None of the special left so MAYBE that would have been worth eating? Tried to order several items off the menu to be told they don't actually carry those items any longer, and haven't for months. Wife ordered a chicken something and I got a steak. We both ordered the mac & cheese. Steak was ok, really not too bad. The chicken was crap. the Mac & Cheese was strait from a box, and when i say that it wasn't even Kraft, it was the stuff you but at the store for like $.38 per box and I wouldn't bet they used milk to mix the powder. Yes I was a poor college kid at one point in my life and I remember what that stuff taste like. They did put some unmelted shredded cheese on it to hide it from view. all-in-all I would avoid this place like the plague! read more
