I was visiting from out of town and my car broke down, I had it towed to the shop as soon as they opened and told them I had to be in Boston by 4PM the same day (this was on a Sunday and no one else would even take it). They were hesitant to make any promises and I was ready to book an Uber, there weren't even any rental places open/cars available. Firestone totally pulled through though and had my car done **HOURS EARLY**!! I really cannot thank these guys enough, they totally turned my weekend around and we got to Boston right on time with no further issues. If I could give them a higher rating, I would. Sorry guys but you could have done better. First, they overcharged me significantly for a part. I explained that the last person to fix it messed up badly. When I refused for them to do additional work, the MANAGER sarcastically told me to take it back to the guy who fixed it last! I spent $550 on an oil change and an OT sensor replacement!! For the past 2 years I have gone here for my state inspection. Both last year and today I was told their machine was "down," so was turned away and could not get my car inspected. I always dread getting my car inspected because I know I'll have to wait 1-2 hours at Firestone, so I was pretty bummed I had driven all the way there just to find out that once again their machines weren't working. I ended up going to a different place right up the road where I was in and out (including an oil change!) in no more than 20 minutes. Lesson learned! read more

The folks at this Firestone are amazing. My car was leaking oil like crazy and I had no idea what to do or how urgent fixing it was. They were the only place open in town (because it was a Sunday), so they were super busy. But they gave me attention almost as soon as I came through the door, were super nice, and extremely helpful. The damage ended up being the fault of a different car company, and when the other company came to pick it up, the employee at Firestone didn't even charge me for all the help and advice they gave. Stopped in to get an inspection and was told my exhaust was cracked into oblivion and then recommended that I replace the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor. They quoted me at around $2,000 for the repairs and said I couldn't leave with the car because it had failed for a safety violation. I promptly peaced with my car and took it to a highly recommended local mechanic in Easthampton ( Ed's ! ) who gave my car a complete and thorough diagnostics test and ultimately said there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of the things they failed me for. Left Ed's with a bill for $35 for the new inspection sticker. So crappy. How do these people sleep at night =/ read more

I called at 3pm to ask if they had time for me the following day and they said I could come in that night. I ended up needing 2 new tires, the man at the counter was nice and explained what the problems were in a way I (not car savvy) could understand. The mechanic that put the tires on was also very friendly, the tires look good and I am very happy with my experience there. read more

Brought my girlfriend's car in for an oil change today, had an appointment and was still estimated to take an hour. That was fine, we grabbed coffee's and hung out. About an hour into it, a gentleman came out and said that the brake lights were out, they would need to be replaced. 15 minutes later, the same gentleman came out and said there was a much more serious problem, most likely electrical. They would offer their services to dig around in order to find out what the problem was, for a price of $100 an hour. We declined and upon cashing out, he offered his professional opinion.. stating that there's most likely a very serious problem and that we would need to address it immediately, estimated it to cost upwards of 15 hundred dollars, even suggested us to go car shopping. Brought the car to a friend, replaced a fuse...voila! This place is ridiculous and gives most honest mechanics a bad name, don't spend money on anything here because they're trained to take much more than originally negotiated! read more

I recently went to Firestone Northampton to have the battery replaced in my car. After the work was completed, I went to my car to leave, and the car wouldn't start. I went back in to speak with the person who took my payment and he called the technician who replaced the battery to troubleshoot. The technician came out to my car and jumped the car to start it. When I questioned him about the fact that a new battery should not behave in this manner, he proceeded to tell me that probably my alternator was bad and then walked away. I immediately drove my car to my mechanic. When the mechanic investigated, he told me my alternator was fine, but my "new"battery probably had a dead cell based on the way the battery tested. I called Firestone and made arrangements to bring my car back to have the battery replaced. I was told to bring the car in any time and they would replace the battery at no additional charge because it was under warranty (really???). I called as I was leaving work to make sure they had time to get me in. At that point they checked to see if they had the replacement battery in stock - which they did not. I then had to wait an additional day so they could have a new battery delivered. Again I returned to have the battery replaced, which they did, and this time they tested it and my alternator and proceeded to tell me both were fine. In my opinion, that should have been done on my initial visit. Instead I feel I was brushed aside by the Technician - very frustrating and it makes me wonder if a male customer would have received the same treatment. I will not return to this Firestone again - very disappointed. read more

Very kind staff, they always let me know what they recommend I do on my car because of the mileage but never push me to do anything. I had spoke to them about my tire pressure always being low. I went to a couple different places who kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the tire. Firestone had actually found a nail that was in my tire causing a slow leak. I called a couple different places to set up an appointment to get it looked but over the phone they were the kindest and I went with them. read more

I was in for an oil change recently when this Firestone was very busy. A woman came in without an appointment and was very rude to the employees on staff because they could not serve her immediately. She cursed at them and was generally belligerent. The employees maintained a calm, pleasant demeanor and offered her other time slots that might work, but she still left in an angry huff. I just wanted to applaud the employees' customer service in this instance--you can't please every customer, but they certainly tried. read more

Very crooked and dishonest. Took my car in last week and charged me $900 for a repair that I later found out should cost $700. They installed a part improperly so I brought it back and they suggested another $900 in additional repairs needed, including $300 for a rear brake replacement which I could do myself in an hour and $30 in parts. All this on a car which passed inspection just last week. Currently listening to them hard sell another customer on a repair. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

Please listen to the reviews that say don't go here. I've often gone here for oil changes/inspections because it's convenient. Every time, they've told me some random expensive thing was wrong. I usually ignored it, or went somewhere else where they told me not to worry. My husband and friends have also had this experience here. Well, I went last week for an inspection, and they failed me because of an exhaust leak. They said they needed to change the gasket, but added a long explanation for how 1 in 20 times for my model, the whole exhaust is so rusty that it falls out and they need to do a $1200+ full exhaust replacement, and they won't know what will happen until they try the gasket repair. They showed me all kinds of estimates and info online about this to prepare me, and warned me that the car was technically a safety hazard, and also that I could get pulled over and more for my rejection sticker--though they repeatedly and with sugary niceness take it upon themselves to reassure me they aren't saying this as a sales tactic, which in itself was curious. I took it to Ernie's up the street; two different men there looked at it, passed my inspection, and said they could not find anything wrong. The gasket was fine, there was no leak, and the whole exhaust looked great, they said. I went back to talk to Firestone and they kept telling me the convo I'd had with them had never happened (I'd actually spoken to three people there about this, none of whom officially wrote it in the quote/record.) They spoke badly about Ernie, one of the only trustworthy mechanics in town, which felt odd. Then they said I kept interrupting them when I was trying to tell them how I felt and were very visibly irritated with me. But shame on me for not learning my lesson earlier--and shame on their sleazy corporate business model. Never again. read more

First time getting an oil change here went great. The second time I dropped off the car and they said it would be done in a little over an hour, I came back at an hour and a half and it still wasn't even moved from the parking spot. One person told me they were understaffed and the other said they were having lift trouble. It took them almost 6 hours to do an oil change that could be done at jiffy lube in 15 minutes. Wish they called me to notify me my car wasn't ready at some point in the hour they had it. Then I complained because I was getting the oil changed for an assignment in West Virginia the next day and was planning to pack the car up that afternoon and they only hesitated to give me a 10% discount. Then they tried again to sell me tires even after their unprofessional service. There are much local better places in the area. Just had my clutch replaced and new tires put on somewhere else and they were much friendly and made me feel more like a person and less like numbers. read more

I woke up this morning to a flat, on a Sunday, on the tire that the Subaru dealership had just "fixed" after they found a nail in it. Okay, I was not happy. I called Firestone because they were OPEN on SUNDAY! The man who answered the phone was so nice and made my stress dissolve to nada. Okay so when I went there the guy at the desk was so nice! They fixed my tire and told me what the dealership had missed. I will be going back to these guys! read more

Our car was repaired at your shop in August of 2014. We paid nearly $800 for a battery, alternator, and belt. Now, not 6 months later, we need a new battery. To say I'm not happy would be an understatement. What a rip off. Don't waste your hard earned money. read more

Went there for an oil change. They stripped the cap on the oil pan and then tried to charge me to fix it. Plus they OVERCHARGE for everything. This is probably the worst place to go for car repairs in the area. AVOID. read more

At first, I was impressed with their tire prices and coupons for oil changes in the paper. Got my car inspected at me year and was rejected for a broken tail light (true, happened without my knowledge),crappy wiper blades (maybe true) and a crooked headlight (true but an easy fix). They quoted me almost 400$ to have them fix it at (20$ per wiper blades min, never mind the rest). Needless to say I fixed most of that myself and did not return for an inspection to them. I got new wipers at Wal-Mart, had a friend fix my tailight, went to a small time garage for my final inspection to get the headlight fixed, which they stuck a piece of card board under and passed me no prob. Fast forward two years to May this year. I get an oil change and they tell me I need a new alternator. Guess what? It's November and I've had no problem. Way to take advantage of people. My friend and I were taking a roadtrip from NJ to VT when my car broke down along the highway on 91N in Northampton, MA (4 hours from home). It was towed to Firestone (one of the few auto service centers open on a Sunday), where I was told the car needed a new engine (a $6K repair). Very upset, we quickly had to figure out what to do. Nick, one of the associates, drove my friend and I to a nearby restaurant where we could stay until our ride came to get us. Once I decided I wanted the car towed back to NJ, Firestone let me keep my car on their premises for one week free of charge. Jordan, another associate, kept in communication with me to let me know what the technician recommended, when the car was being towed, and offered any follow-up services. Despite the messy circumstances, the guys all handled the situation with great care, concern, and professionalism. Would recommend this location to anyone in a heartbeat. read more
