Wouldn't give this place even 1 star. Got laughed at on the phone multiple times for my car issues, extremely unprofessional.

Today is 6/9/16. At 10:00 am I pulled on the lot needing help with a driver's side door that wouldn't close. 5 guys standing around chatting, no one at the front counter. Waited 15 minutes! Walked out to catch me breathe. Walked back in and waited15 more minutes! All 5 guys in the bull ring saw me standing there and turned a blind eye! Horrible. Took our car in for an oil change and tire rotation as we had a coupon. Came in at noon and they told us the car would be done by 3:30 or 4pm. Came back at 4pm and was told it wouldn't be ready until 5pm. When I said I was told 4pm, the guy said, "No, you were told 5:30". OK. Left and returned at 5. Man in line ahead of me was upset because he was charged for a new oil cap. Firestone said his car came in without one - arguing ensued. Then, they could not find his car keys. They did have ours and we left. Next day, one tire started to make strange noises which grew louder. Checked Yelp for another car place. Took the car there and they verified that the lug nuts had not been tightened and that the wheel was beginning to fall off. New guy (Tom at Tom's Auto Stop) said he would fire any employee who made a mistake like that. Discovered that oil change at Tom's was as cheap as the coupon at Firestone. I know where I'll be getting my oil changed in the future. read more

NEVER USE THIS LOCATION!!!! PLEASE READ!!! My cars radiator died on me and luckily my insurance company was able to tow my car to this location. They took it to this location and it was fixed within a few hours which was great. When I went to pick up my car, they had broken my hood as well as the hood latch. Not a big deal, they had to order the part and it was ready to pick up in 2 days. When I returned, my car had 2 tires slashed, the rear bumper was damaged and hanging off my car, someone had slept inside my car and used my clothes as pillows, as well as peeled the paint off my audio head unit and keyed both sides of my car. Of course they denied all fault in this incident, but they promised that everything would be fixed and the car painted and inside detailed. For 2 months, I REPEAT 2 MONTHS, they repeatedly told me my car would be the ready the next day and lied over and over again to me to my face and over the phone. Over this time, they did nothing with my car, it sat in the same parking spot as when I dropped it off initially and the new battery I had put in it 2 weeks before rotted and they refused to pay for a new one claiming it was a defective battery(but they were the ones who had replaced it!!!) Bill Taylor, the manager of the store, is a crook who tries to make himself seem like he's helping but he could care less. I overheard him say that he didn't want to speak to me on the phone because my car wasn't worth his time. Do not use this location, there are a few technicians that work here that are knowledgeable but anyone trained by Bill has no clue what they are doing and will not help you. They would rather spend $3,400 on a rental car then to put you back in your car. This store is the definition of lazy crooks read more

They wasted my time and put the wrong tires on my car--not the correct ones that I had requested and paid for. To top it off, they left my trunk in shambles with the donut and jack just thrown in and not in its proper place. Seriously, I would've just done it myself if I knew they didn't know what they're doing. The customer service was very unfriendly and uncaring, and did not want to be bothered by questions, just wanted my money. Dave James, the general manager, is probably the rudest individual I have ever met. When I came back my third time to fix up their screw up, I did not get even one apology. When I (calmly) asked if I would get a reimbursement or refund of labor charges, Dave got ANGRY (not kidding) and decided that he needed to raise his voice and told me "I was through" and that there was no way I was going to be compensated (or at the very least apologized to). In tears at this point, I said that I only asked because I had been very inconvenienced by the 4+ hours in total this service had taken, considering I had to come back multiple times to fix their mistake. I was late for work twice. He said he did not care. Loudly. This is absolutely the worst service place I've been to. If you feel like being disrespected by Dave James, then this is the place for you. If you like going to a place that can't be trusted to do a proper job, this is also the place for you. Customer does NOT come first here. **I have to mention my observation of how other customers were treated here. If you have an accent, you will be treated as if you are hard of hearing. Also, they were a bit condescending. I also noticed that virtually everyone who came in, when asked if it was their first time there, all seemed to say "yes". Low customer retention rate? Like I said, just an observation to add to this horrible experience. read more

I went in there around 4:30pm on Sunday ( they close at 5) to have them check a nail in my tire. I stopped in earlier and they were crowded.....Does not seem like a big job. The guy at the front desk told me I was too late for them to do anything.( what if a had a flat??)..2 bays were open and 1 Car was on the lift. there were 2 mechanics standing around doing nothing....Seems to me that they just wanted to go home ( it was a nice day and I understand), but if you want to be a reputable neighborhood car care place, then they should have looked at it. It was not a big job... I'm busy during the week so today was my best day to do it...just a bit disappointed !! I hope they change their attitude in the future. read more

Went In on a Sunday excited to get an alignment on my newly lifted truck. They were nice enough to tell me I missed installing a washer. I asked if they would do the alignment after I fixed my mistake. They told me I should go to a specialty shop because it would take them 3hrs to align. That's total BS!!! I went to mr. Tire off Lee hwy, they had it done in less than 45 min. Firestone, if you want to be lazy, just say it and don't give BS excuses. I will never be recommending you or using your services again. I asked a friend where he bought his tires. He said at Firestone on Chain Bridge Road in McLean. I am sure glad he suggested them. Bill and his people go the extra mile in customer service and offer a great value. I recently had a screw embedded in a tire. They told me since AAA had plugged the tire and neglected to tell me to take the tire in immediately it would likely not last. Sure enough, I had to replace the tire. Bill treated me very well and I went ahead and replaced the full set of tires. That was a good choice and I received a great price for the new tires. I will always buy my tires at Firestone McLean and will refer my friends to them, too. They provide great service and you can have a "peace of mind" knowing that they have been honest and provided you the best possible service. read more

I needed new tires, shopped around, found Firestone to have what I needed. I made an appointment for 10 on Monday, was told that it would take about an hour, and went to deliver the car as scheduled, planning to have a cup of coffee and wait it out. John said he had several cars already: I asked what my appointment meant, and was told that he had forgotten to check his computer for scheduling. Why was I the one to have to wait? Why did his mistake become my inconvenience? Well, he didn't seem to be able to cope with that concept and the wait would be 2-3 hours more. That attitude and lack of concern for the customer overrides the good price and availability of product in my book. Making an appointment at this shop does not mean you actually have one. read more

*** Warning Manager protects mechanics that joyride in cars *** I will never ever go to Firestone in Mclean again. In fact I ended up calling the Fairfax County Police to come to the store so I could get car back ! - I have lifetime tire/alignment service on my sports car. - Manager told me it would take 2+ hours to balance/align tires and do Virginia state inspection. - I walked down the street to eat while waiting. - 2 hours later as I was walking back, I saw my car driving away (right past me) doing 60 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and my car run a red light. - Got to store. Manager could not locate my car and then the short manager in a blue shirt went and hid in a Service Bay. - Then my car came back and mechanic got out. I asked him why he was speeding in my car and ran a light. HE DENIED EVERYTHING. Said he was "here"! WTF. Told him to Man up. - I then called Fairfax County Police since mechanic also hid in back of store and I didn't have my car keys. - While waiting for FCP, I called Firestone corporate to complain. read more

When you need tires, do a little online research and it pays off. I found that Firestone was having a buy 3, get 1 free deal. So I made an appointment online, rolled in at 9 am and was out by 10:30. They were quick, efficient, friendly. The waiting room of course has that rubbery smell but it was tolerable for 90 minutes. Much better than going to the dealer, and they did not pressure me to buy a more expensive tire. read more

Had to knock one star down because of recent alignment experience. I repeat for y'all that, I would not normally recommend firestone for anything other than alignment (not just this particular franchisee, but overall). So I went in for alignment for another car that got tires newly installed and noted uneven wear. That was the last day they were having presidential day promo, so I dropped off the car confirmed that it would be legit to use the 10 off 50 coupon on alignment which is 79.99 listed almost everywhere in their store and website. When I came back to pick up the car, the number ($85.xx) seemed odd, so I asked if they took the $10 off, told yes. Then the cashier,started to do the math, alignment 89.99, minus 10, blah blah. Until I pointed out, i was quoted, and also it was literally everywhere in their store/site that 4-wheel alignment cost 79.99.... He went to change the price without explaining anything. I don't want to speculate but had I not been familiar with their pricing, I probably would have paid $10 more and walked out without noticing it. read more

The alternator went out in my 4 runner and being new and being from Texas, I have no clue as to decent auto repair shops out here. Called these guys up first thing Saturday morning and my car was ready by mid afternoon. The price he quoted over the phone came out to be higher in the end, but the work they did and where the part was located all made sense. He was honest, fair and down right nice about all of it. Most men in the auto repair world talk to women like we have no clue, and I don't as to where or the work he did, but he took the time to not only explain but show me as well. I called with trepidation after reading some of the previous reviews. They had a coupon for replacing brake pads. Having failed an inspection due to pads *and* rotors, I asked if the coupon would cover both problems. No. Sigh. Well ok then. So how much to do everything? "We can't give an estimate over the phone. I was really happy with the service I received for my car here. As a girl I am always skeptical about taking my car to get fixed because I know nothing about cars and how much things should cost so I am afraid of getting jipped. I asked my brother, the car nut, and he recommended bringing my car here, same place he brings his car. I spoke with Scott who had excellent customer service, he came out to the car and explained to me the work I would need to have (flat tire). He even made a point to order a top of the line tire and still honor my warranty on the tires I had bought a year ago from Tires Plus as they are part of the same company. Overall it was good service and I felt satisfied knowing my car was in good hands. Def recommend this place especially since it has such accommodating hours. read more

I went to Firestone expecting to have to change all of my tires. My dealer had told me they only had a few months left. Firestone guys took a look and told me they had 50% of their life left. They didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. In fact they looked to get me the best deal. In addition, I had apparently lost my wheel lock and they happened to have an extra that they just gave. As a gift! That is what I call great treatment for your customers. The process took a little longer than I had hoped but it was a snow day and I didn't have an appointment so I can hardly complain. Will definitely be loyal to this place from now on. read more

The staff at the McLean store has provided excellent service on all our family cars for decades. We rely on them for major repairs & minor services. One manager, knowing that I had a long morning commute, got my blown tire replaced within minutes of my arrival. Barely had time to grab coffee & a bagel. Another manager, who said he's be in the store after closing, stayed even later to replaced a burned out headlamp. And, unlike the quickie oil change places, the staff has never tried to sell us services we didn't need. An extra 30 minutes for an oil change - big deal! Use it to get an extra 2000 steps on your Fitbit with a walk to one of several coffee shops, restaurants, liquor & wine stores... Yeah - we've used other service centers. Big mistake! Best auto service I ever received. Although they were busy with other customers, the manager and associates provided me with individual care and concern. They were extremely knowledgeable, took the time to explain what was needed to fix my vehicle, and even showed me the parts that were worn. on Saturday 05/07/11, I went to Firestone to have the oil changed and other services done. After the oil change was complete, before I even received the car, I noticed a leak and immediately complained. Firestone acknowledged that they caused damage to the oil pan and agreed to replace it. After the replacement, the car was still leaking and following multiple complaints; the service manager insulted me and told me to SHUT UP in front of other customers. On top of that, the store manager refused to evaluate the leak and claimed it was coming from the main seal. After talking to headquarter, I took the car to Honda dealer and an independent inspector hired by Firestone came to check the car. Both agreed that it was a big leak that would be impossible for Firestone not to notice it when I first took the car to have the oil changed. Honda dealer removed the oil pan and, as suspected, the leak was due to the improper installation of the oil pan. The old oil pan gasket ring was not removed by Firestone and a new ring was installed on top of it. Firestone's incompetency and lack of respect to customer rights cost me one week of stress, waste of time and money and multiple trips and phone calls to the store and would cause damage to vehicle engine. Firestone paid the expenses of the repairs done by Honda dealer to fix the mess caused by Firestone. Firestone did not pay for my time / stress / gas spent / phone calls. I had my car repaired here because my Volvo broke down 2 miles from their location. but I certainly won't return if I can avoid it. I found the charges more expensive than they are worth it. I'm only giving it two stars because I found they had the car repaired on time. However, my main issue with this Firestone location is this: When I went to pick up my car after the repairs, it was parked in the street completely in front of a fire hydrant. Thankfully I had no fine for this but I consider this unacceptable. Would Firestone had paid for the fine if I was charged for this? Who would have paid for car damages if there was a fire and firemen had to get access to the fire hydrant? I consider this completely unacceptable and they have to be more responsible with the cars. read more

Brought my 2014 Jetta in for an overdue oil change. $75 is more than I've paid in the past for synthetic oil. But, the mechanic noticed that the rim of my front right wheel was dented (hit a pothole 2.5 years ago and never did anything about it) and he hammered it out for no charge! I've been refilling the slow leak in that tire for years, and they fixed it just because they noticed it (and noticed the slow leak too). They also said they were running on an hour and a half wait but finished the oil change and the extra fix of the rim in 40 min. Thanks, Firestone!! read more

I would not be inclined to write a negative review unless my experience was particularly offensive. My husband took my Honda into Firestone located in McLean, Virginia. Reason being, a loud rattling sound on the right side of my Honda. Firestone's diagnosis: a bent resonating bar. The cost, $450. The added recommended repairs totaled $1350. My husband was not impressed!...I kept the printout. Wisely, we opted for a second opinion. Midas in Falls Church on Lee Highway had a totally different diagnosis...the rear heat shield needed replacement, which caused the loud rattling sound...$146.25, including tax. How many customer's of Firestone unknowingly were given a bogus diagnosis and payed the price. Unfortunately, car owner's are at the mercy of many unscrupulous car mechanics and their managers. Thank goodness, my husband and I were not "taken in" by Firestone in McLean. I advise car owner, to avoid this business. And, always get a second opinion, no matter the inconvenience. Next, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

On August 10, 2015 my wife had a flat tire. As a result of her spare tire having issues as well,it was necessary to have her vehicle towed here. The tow truck driver and roadside assistance both located the screw in the tire and said it could easily be repaired. However, after seeing that the tow truck left the vehicle, my wife and our three old there at the shop, and that they had no other means of transportation, the service advisor (Anthony) decided that the tire could not be repaired and gave her a work order with an estimate of $808.55 just to replace the tire. This was presented to her after she waited for 45 minutes for them to look at the tire and only after she inquired. When she questioned the guy his reply was, "well, what are you gonna do?" She decided to call back the tow truck and have it towed to another shop who just simply put a patch in it and repaired it. I called them and questioned them about it but they simply told me that it could indeed be repaired but they just chose not to. Please don't go to this place. They are very crooked and just wanted to take advantage of a predicament that my wife and three year old daughter was in. They seen an opportunity to cash in on an unfortunate circumstance. This is a rotten business. I would advice you to go somewhere else. read more

Friendly staff, but they use shady business tactics to get you in the door. I knew my car's A/C system had a leak, so I called a couple places to ask about prices for diagnostic assessments. Both local dealerships quoted ~$150 to identify the leaky components, whereas Firestone said they could do it for $19.99. This sounded too good to be true, so twice on the phone and once in person I asked them to confirm that they would be able to tell me exactly which parts were faulty for just $19.99, and they said "yes, it should take about an hour." The service advisor explained that if the freon levels were low, they would inject dye in order to locate any leaks, but he never said anything about an additional cost for this. I agreed to the diagnostic and after only 10 minutes, the service advisor called me up to his desk and explained that I was low on freon (which I already knew, since the A/C was blowing well but the air was not cold), and that the next step in diagnosing the problem was a recharge with dye, which would cost me $169.99 plus tax. I obviously declined this since it is higher than the dealership price, and because the Firestone team was not honest about the total cost up front. I was still charged $20 for the day, and the description on my receipt is "A/C Performance Check w/ Dye," so frankly I'm not sure what I paid for. I'm not too distraught about wasting my $20, but more disappointed that they advertised a low price to get my foot in the door before revealing the much higher actual price. I've visited multiple Firestones in the past and have not had a problem like this before. read more

Firestone fixed the terrible and dangerous brake application done by my dealership. Ever since, these guys are my car go-to place. They are good about checking every little detail and the head manager makes sure its done right or, when they once had confusion over my electrical system, he did a full systems check for free. Went back because my battery died again they said I needed new wires. They have had my car a day in a half and still not done putting wires on a battery. They have no regards of your time. They don't have good customer service and they can't even fix things right the first time I need to get in contact with cooperate on how much money I spent here and not even satisfied with my service. read more
