I would give this place negative stars If I could.... I went there about a month ago to get a tire repaired - seemed I had caught a nail in the tire of my BRAND NEW car. A gentleman there, Allen, told me they were unable to fix my tire, and that it needed to be replaced as the nail was close to the sidewall. I was a little concerned at replacing just one tire because I purchased my car on 7/20/2010. Allen told me he had never heard of the brand of stock tires on my car, and continued to tell me I needed to purchase a new tire (mind you, the stock tires on my car ARE available elsewhere). He told me he would sell me an all-season tire. When I asked him if this would affect the performance of the other tires on my car (because well, they were DIFFERENT) he said he did not know - and wasn't even sure what type of tire I had (e.g. all-season etc.). Reluctantly, I had them replace the one tire. I was leaving for vacation the next day for two weeks, needed this issue resolved, and was in a hell of a pickle. Since I was in a bit of a predicament, I feel as if I was taken advantage of in this situation. Nobody bothered to tell me at this location that having a mismatched tire can cause issues to a car - especially a new car - EVEN AFTER I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF ANY ISSUES COULD ARISE!!!! I returned from my vacation, and took my car to my mechanic to get it cleaned and detailed. As he was cleaning the outside of my vehicle, he advised me that I never should have had just one tire replaced on the car. I was informed that this can cause transaxle issues, as well as handling issues in the rain & snow. In addition to the mismatched tire, we discovered that the rim on my brand new car was severely damaged by the techs at this location. Maybe is it standard policy for them to sell you mimatched tires, and damage your rims when bringing in a car to get a new tire...? Now, Allen is insisting they did no wrong with my car. I am finding myself having to take out a claim, and investiagtion with them, and they still might NOT reimburse me, or replace the rim. I would not bring my car here to save my life!! I would rather have it towed 200 miles away than to deal with the jerk at this place! Seems like I am not the first woman to be taken advantage of here.... read more

I've went to this location a couple times - both times I had ordered tires online and had them shipped here for installation. My most recent trip I made a same day appointment and was told when I dropped my car off it would take 1.5 - 2 hours (2 new tires and alignment). I got a call 90 minutes later and I was in and out for what I thought was a pretty reasonable price. No complaints here! read more

I went into this store to get an oil change, and ended up having my personal safety put in danger. So the day I scheduled my oil change, I went in and got it done. It took them over 2 hours to do it, but I realized they were busy so it wasn't a big deal. When I was driving home, I started hearing a loud rattling noise coming from my front left tire for the first time. I called up Firestone, and they told me to come back the next day to get it checked out because it was probably a loose splash guard. I go in, but it's not the splash guard, so they set up an appointment for me in a couple of days to take a good look at it and diagnose the problem...their suggestion was that it was a broken CV axle. The next day, the noise seems to get worse and I started getting worried that something was really wrong with my car. So I ended up going to a place I trust, and they very quickly were able to diagnose my problem: My front left tire's lug nuts had been loosened and my tire was close to flying off. I am positive I did not touch that tire, and the sound only started after I left Firestone. I don't think it was intentional, but sometime during their inspection, they did something with the tire and forgot to screw it back on. I don't even know why they were touching my tire when it was just an oil change. It is scary that I drove around a couple of days like that; my life was in jeopardy and I wasn't even aware. So I wasted a lot of time for an oil change & they could have gotten me killed. But at least a got a decent deal, only $55 for a full synthetic oil change. And the kicker was, after they did the inspection with the oil change, their main recommendation was that I should change my air filter. But after I said sure, they realized they didn't actually have any new air filters at their shop, and then they just put my dirty air filter back. read more

I don't know too much about cars but the staff did a wonderful job making sure I knew exactly what my car needed! Daylon in particular was professional, polite, and attentive to all of my needs. This place is extremely busy and Daylon was proactive about giving me a call and letting me know that my car would be ready an hour later than expected. I really appreciated this small gesture. After picking up my car, it has been running just as smooth as when I first bought it :) read more

Back in October, my brakes failed to make my car stop and made a very, very bad noise. I was in Wisconsin visiting my parents, so I took it to a Firestone there. $800 later, I had new brakes. The problem? They never stopped squeaking. After a few visits back to the original location to no avail, we finally took the car to this location. I made an appointment online and received a confirmation. My first choice of appointment was for 2:30 pm. My second choice was for 4 pm. We arrived at 2:25 and were told our appointment had been schedueld for 9 am. That simply wouldn't fly, so the technician said he could get the car in within about 40 minutes. We went to lunch and came back an hour later. The car still had not been pulled into the shop. So, we wandered about the neighborhood. About 30 minutes later, we got a call. They had discovered the problem with the brakes. Great! They had also, unfortunately, discovered a crack in our serpentine belt. We were told it would take 90 minutes or more to fix, so we decided to take the bus home. We got home within 30 minutes. No sooner had we walked in the door and sat down did they call to tell us the car was ready. So, off we went, back to the bus stop. I guess I can't really complain that they did the work faster than anticipated, but had I known I would have stayed in the neighborhood. All told, the trip set me back about $130. A small price to pay for a tiny bit of insurance that I won't die in a fiery crash. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I went to this location over the weekend to get tires for my car. As I was waiting, Larry came out and said I needed a new battery and an oil change. I do need an oil change, but not for 89.99. He said I hope you don't ruin your engine. Regarding the battery, he said well I hope you don't break down. Scare tactics. I asked if he would top off my oil until I went to my regular place and he said they don't do that. ???? You won't put oil in my car????? Nice. When I left and drove down the street to Meineke (my regular place) they told me I didn't need a battery yet and I was low on oil but not close to ruining my engine. They want you to buy stuff for you car YOU DON"T NEED. Plus the bathroom was really disgusting. read more

These guys are liars and went to sell you services you DO NOT need. I made an appointment today for a simple wheel alignment. When I arrived the man said he'll start working on the van immediately. So I went to the pet supplies store (across the parking lot) and shopped for a while. When I came out the van was still sitting in the same place. I asked them what was going on? Even thought they were not busy they finally sent a mechanic out to get my car. After 2 minutes they want to talk to me. They take me to the van and show me my front tires are loose and push them side to side. One thing wrong here...they're not loose at all...no play in the tire at all. So the man tells me I need wheel bearings and that'll cost you 825.00!!!!!! I now tell them I'm not doing anything with you guys. They charge me 21.00 for absolutely nothing. read more

No appointments for an alignments! This was irritating, but everything else was good. They price matched an alignment job for my car and did it right. I thought my car was pulling a month later and called them, they said it's still under warranty so I can bring it in. I haven't yet, but there were no hassles. read more

I usually have to psych myself up when dealing with any automotive repair situation. I always hate going into the shops because they are usually dingy, everyone is cranky, I constantly get the feeling I am being ripped off (and most times it turns out to be the case), my car is never ready on time, and I walk out with a significant dent in my checking account. Much to my delight, this particular Firestone was nothing like any of my past experiences! These people were fantastic, and personable, and ON-TIME!!! I went in for a tire-rotation, with a slight feeling I would actually be shelling out more than I wanted to replace all of my tires. When I got there, the extremely friendly woman at the front desk put me down for a rotation and said the technician would check everything out when the car was up there and give me a call. He called me back about 30 minutes later with all the info on my poor car (which, sadly, did need all new tires... but I am moving cross-country this week, so I was willing to throw down the cash). He had the car ready to go well before my 3:30 pick-up time and they called me right away. The price was extremely reasonable for 4 new tires and an alignment and the warranty was also awesome (you get free tire repairs and rotations every 6,000 miles). Everything from start to finish was easy and I never felt like I was being bull-shitted... a nice change from my normal repair encounters. I highly recommend checking them out for your next tire malfunction! read more

Took four hours just to switch old tires for new ones. Then my spare key went missing; in addition, my gear stick was left with dirt and grease. Not what I expected when paying $500.00 at a chain tire shop. read more

Based on the other reviews I see here, it seems the one thing you can expect from Firestone is consistent bad service. These guys give a classic runaround and work to squeeze every last dime from any unsuspecting consumer. I had issues with my car starting and had it towed to Firestone. This was an older vehicle reaching the end of it's useful life. After charging their customary $100 fee to even look at the vehicle, they called back to inform me that the vehicle needed $1,100 worth of work; a steep price tag I needed to think about before moving forward with. I called back the next day to discuss further and this number had jumped to $2,200. The mechanic insisted that this was my mistake. At this price, it wasn't worth it to try and save the car. I asked about the repairs they felt absolutely necessary, one of which being spark plug replacement, which he quoted me at $136. After deliberation, I called back and asked what would it take simply to get the car running so we could get it off the lot. He told me that spark plug replacement was the only thing at a price of....$367! After pointing out that this was over 2x the price I had been quoted an hour earlier, they again insisted I was wrong. I was fed up at this point. I told them not to do anything and I'd figure out having it removed from the lot. 20 minutes later they call back, the car started...without any of the work they proposed doing. I went and picked up the car and thankfully my relationship with Firestone is over. Long story short, save yourself the hassle and take your car somewhere else. read more

The customer service is here absolutely horrible. I scheduled an appointment on 10/1 to come in on 10/3 for A/C repair. I received an email confirmation about the appointment the day I scheduled it. I go to the place on 10/3 for my 7pm appointment, however, the gentleman in the office states he does not see an appointment. I told him that was odd and showed him the email with the reservation #. He was not apologetic for the inconvenience nor did he offer to make it better the only thing he could is he can't fit me in today because he does not have the staff it. I will never give this location my service again! read more

I used Firestone merely as a convenience as it was located near where I worked-usually to get a leaking tire fixed or to get my brakes inspected. I had my car there getting one of my tires repaired and decided to have them change the oil. I knew their full service oil change was a ripoff ($36) but I was crunched for time and decided to kill two birds with one stone. When my car was ready, they called and told me that my oil pan was leaking and that it would be $450 for the repair. Since I hadn't noticed any oil spots under my car to that point, I decided to hold off and get it fixed at a later date. Fast forward 2 or 3 months. I brought my car in for a rear brake inspection and again they brought up the leaking oil pan. Now, obviously this information was in their computer from my last visit, but I wasn't about to plunk down $450 without a second opinion. I recently took my car in to a local mom n pop mechanic for a major tune up and mentioned that the oil pan needed to be looked at. Well, as it turns out, there was no leak in my oil pan after all. I knew Firestone was a ripoff for the most part but I will not return here for any reason in the future. Overpriced and dishonest. Avoid this place!!! read more

I have been fortunate enough to have had good experiences with this location. We have gotten tires here in the past. I had a weird repair that needed to be done and had been rejected by a couple of other repair places including Pep Boys and Sears Auto repair. My guess is because they wouldn't really make any money on it. Firestone was busy when I went in, so they said they would take a look, but that there was a muffler place nearby that could for sure make the fix. They were right! Thanks for the recommendation Firestone! read more

I wish I would have read these Yelp reviews first! Like many others that have commented here, it felt like I was being forced into work I possibly didn't need. Basically I was given no options. Either pay $700 to get all your rotors and brakes replaced, or we will do no work at all. $700 is a lot of money to some people. Next time I will take my chances with a mom and pop store. No more of these big chains that force their workers to get the highest dollar. Go somewhere else for your car repair needs. read more

I was worried about coming here given the bad reviews, but my family has used them several times and spoke highly of them so I thought I'd give them a try. I needed 4 new tires, and knew exactly what I needed. They didn't try to up sell me, and even gave me credit for a promotion that I was unaware of. Very reasonable, very prompt. Highly recommend that you don't go without an appointment, as I saw them send away a number of people while I waited. I recently bought a car from CarMax and purchased an extended warranty on it. It is a Honda and only a few years old, but I wanted to cover my bases. Last week my "check engine" light went on and although the car was running fine, I wanted to get it checked out. Firestone is one of the providers under my warranty (MaxCare). They have a billing account set up with chains like them, PepBoys, etc. So I called them to set up an appointment. They told me that their "engine diagnostics" guy was there from 8 to 5. I asked if I could come in at 8am, they said yes, took down my info, etc. I took off the morning to bring my car in at 8. I knew if there was a problem that I would not have it fixed in a day, but I intended to wait a few hours, or however long it took- to have them take a look at the car. I was told that there were three cars in front of me and that it was better just to leave it there. Why make an appointment and let me come in at 8 if there are other cars there?! Then they handed me a paper that I had to sign to leave my car there... I had to ask them to explain it, especially when I saw the number $138.00 at the bottom. They explained that that was their charge to diagnose it. They told me that I would be responsible for all payments and that my warranty company would reimburse me. When I spoke to MaxCare later in the day they said they had a national billing account with Firestone and used them all the time and that they pay Firestone directly. I got a call later in the day that the diangostics guy hadn't had a chance to look at my car yet. That the other jobs in front of me were "big jobs." They weren't unfriendly, but come on... they made an 8am appnt. It was their job to look at my car and diagnose it THAT day, if not fix it. ESPECIALLY if they are charging me that amount. They said they may not look at it until Saturday. Unfortunately, MaxCare needs to authorize all repairs once they receive an estimate, and they are not there on weekends. This means that the ball wouldn't start rolling until Monday morning. I told them not to bother and I picked the car up after work. It was annoying, but I am glad that I didn't have to give them their business. I understand 130 may be standard but they did not explain that to me when called or when I got there. And if I am paying that expect them to respect my time. I also get that they can be busy and get behind, etc, but they didn't acknowledge that they were inconveniencing me or that their appointment procedure was meaningless, etc. In general, just an inefficient place and overly priced. read more

On 8/23/20, I set out to go on a much needed vacation, driving 200 miles one way from Chicago to Wisconsin; however, my "check tire pressure" light came on. I had bought 4-new tires in 12/2019 from Firestone at the North Ave. store but called the Elston/Addison store since it was closest to my house. At 8:30am on a Sunday they were open! Upon arrival, Jesse was super helpful in having a tech check the pressure of all tires confirming which one needed repair. His shop was very busy so he called around to find another shop that could look at it quicker so I could get on with my vacation travels. They filled up my tire and I drove to the 1050 N Roselle Rd/Hoffman Estates location, which was on the route of my travels. Ben there got my tire looked at quickly, they found a nail in the tire, repaired it for free as part of my Firestone road hazard plan and I was on my way only losing about 1.5 hours of my intended travel plans. Thank goodness I discovered this while in proximity to various Firestone locations that worked together to help me vs. on a rural road by myself while in transit to my vacation destination! Thanks to both locations for helping me! read more

My tires from Tire Rack were delivered to this Firestone location on time. Due to the Covid restrictions I could not get in as soon as I would have liked but it did not matter they accommodated me on a Saturday. I dropped off my BMW 645CI and they said that installing the tires and completing the alignment would take about 2 hours and that they would call when the car was completed. I was fine with the timeframe and ran a number of errands and when out for a leisurely lunch. I returned to the store at about 3 and they were just finishing up the work, which explains why I had not received a call. It turns out that one of my lug bolt snapped in half when they were removing it leaving the shaft of the lug bolt in the car. They said that they spend a lot of time trying to extract the shaft, and were ultimately successful, but that after trying a number of parts stores could not fine a replacement lug bolt that matched the existing one. When I went to pay for the work, they did not charge me for the extra time and effort that they went through to extract the lug bolt shaft or to find a replacement. Lucky for me that I had a replacement lug bolt and they completed the job without any fuss. Thanks to the team of guys at Firestone for completing a tough job. read more

I just wanted to say how disappointed my husband and I are. We came to this location for a transmission oil change for our Lincoln and some other services that we needed and they informed us it would take about 2 hours for our car to be ready. So I decided to tell my husband let's go to target while they work on the car we took about 1hr or so at target and decided to walk back to firestone with the assumption of course that the car wasn't ready yet so we pass to the pet store; Then my husband gets a call keep in mind over a hour later that unfortunately they don't have the proper tools to work on our vehicle. This was such a huge waste of time a inconvenience! How can you work at a location and not know if you carry the proper tools to work on a certain vehicle. Great place! I haaaaate getting maintenance done on my car. I know no one really loves it but I just really hate it. Mostly because every time something goes wrong with my car it's going to cost a lot. I'm a poor college student and my wallet has spiderwebs in it. I needed a water pump replacement on my Jetta and it was going to cost a pretty penny. I compared rates between this location and 4 or 5 other auto services. They not only had the cheapest rates but some not-too-shabby reviews. I've dealt with the folks here twice now for some very pricey services and they are more than accommodating and just all-around nice people. Not much to ask for an auto service company but for some reason other places just can't get it right. I also forgot to print out a coupon I saw online so the guy just printed it right there from their computer and applied it to my total. No hassle at all. That's what coupons are for right?? To use!! On Friday, December 7th I was headed downtown Chicago to a Christmas party from the northern suburbs. At 6:00 PM I was traveling the on Edens and Kennedy Expressways when my brakes went totally out. I was fortunate that I was in stop and go traffic and made it safely to the Addison Exit where I was able to stop at an "Accident Investigation" lot. By the time I figured out what I wanted to do it was 6:30. Firestone had the latest hours of the places in the area, so I called them. They gave me the name of a tow company that was there in less than 30 minutes. The tow was $30 cheaper than the $100 estimate. Things were off to a good start. I arrived at Firestone at 7:00. I was a tad shook up about the incident and everyone was very kind and friendly. I really wanted to just leave the car and get to the party. They asked if I would stick around so they could see what it might take to fix it. Long story short, I needed a brake caliper replaced. They said they had the part and could get it fixed before they closed at 8:00. I was on my way to the party by 7:30 and picked up my car on the way home . On the phone, Firestone quoted me $147 for a Honda Fit battery complete with installation and taxes. When I got there, the serviceman said, "I could have sworn you said Honda Accord" and then told me the Fit would cost OVER $200. I refused. Even the Honda dealer had offered a better deal of $189. The manager had to come over and match the original quote but now I had to pay tax. My total wound up about $160. I refused the "complementary complete inspection" because I had just done one with the Honda dealer, which was how I knew I needed a new battery. Besides, there was no way I trusted this place after their initial deception. When my service was done, the serviceman said something to the tune of well we don't know if your alternator or anything else is all right since you denied the complementary inspection, but we checked the battery. Well, the new battery is fine, but this place seems to be getting quite a few bad reviews. I will never go back there. read more

They were the only place open on Sunday with tire repair and replacement service. When we came in there in the late afternoon, they were super helpful and quick. The facility is clean and well kept. They had really clean bathrooms too. The bf and friend returned there later to discuss the car and tire replacement while I shopped at Target. He wanted me to note that were a little cranky and rude because it was near closing time. This Firestone saved our day with a new tire and good service. read more
