The staff is friendly, greets customers as they come in, and ensure keep you updated on the work being done on your car. The lack of a star is due to not paying attention to recording actual mileage. I picked up a nail in my tire at work and needed the tire replaced so I can head up to Dallas for a trip up to see my mom for Mother's Day Weekend. I came in w/ this "emergency" at 6 p.m. on a Friday night (they close at 7) right before Mother's Day Weekend. Dropped off my car for an oil change. It took 5 hrs to determine that they would not be able to get it done today.

This place is absolutely terrible. I'll start off by stating that management is terrible and services are just as bad. Even the guy that checks you in talks about the workers as "kuckleheads," and having to check all their work because they're constantly making mistakes. The bullet points: - I ordered tires online and had them delivered here. - Tracking said they were delivered, so I called the next morning to make an appointment to have them installed. They said they couldn't find them anywhere, so to call back in the afternoon when the night shift guy was in. I needed them installed that day, and they said it wouldn't be an issue. - I went in in the afternoon, and they said they still couldn't find them. That maybe I shipped them to the wrong Firestone. Eventually, they let me walk into the shop to look for them and they were literally the first stack of tires sitting on the floor when I walked in. - At that point, they said they could no longer install them that day because "corporate" told them to close early (I think it was a holiday the next day). - To make up for the inconvenience, they'd do the installation for half price, and provide me with free rotation and balancing for life. This was confirmed by the manager. - I go back the next day they are open, manager checks me in and gives me the discount on the installation, but is charging me for the lifetime rotation and balancing. I asked him why they were charging me for the rotations, and he said they're free when I come back. I told him, "it's not free if I"m paying for it now." And he just kept saying, "it's free when you come back." When I reminded him what he and his associate had confirmed the day before, he got angry and said, "I'm already giving you a discount, I'm not giving you anything for free." As if I was asking or demanding it as opposed to it simply being what they offered me the day before. - I said fine, just do the installation and that's all I'll pay for. Took a couple hours, and I left. Less than twenty miles later, my tire pressure warning goes off and I have to go back to the shop to see what the problem was. - I walk in and the manager asks how he can help me as if he's never seen me before in his life. I told him the problem and he asked for my keys, and then completely ignored me. He gave my keys to someone else and didn't say I word, so I followed them out to my car. The shop manager and a mechanic came out and the first thing he says to the manager was, "remember I was telling you the air pump isn't working right? The gauge is messed up." So apparently they had over inflated my tires, known it was an issue, told a manager who did nothing, and neither one of them manually checked the tires with a different gauge to make sure they were inflated properly. So instead of my brand new tires being properly inflated to 34 psi, they were at 49 psi. They let the air out and just said I'd be good to go after wasting more than half of my day. Had a 12:30 appointment for tires. Figured with an appointment it may take an hour or so. Showed up early at 12:03, and then walked across the street to Academy. At 2:05 I called to check on my vehicle and was told it would be 2:45. So I basically asked why in the hell it takes 2 hours 45 minutes to put 4 tires on. And I said I'd just come pick it up and take it elsewhere. They were quick to say no, we can put 2 mechanics on it and have it ready by 2:30. I was still angry and the guy said he'd discount the ticket for my trouble. But he didn't, and when I got there to get it, he apologized, but made sure to mention that having an appointment didn't guarantee my vehicle would be worked on at that time. So, go to NTB instead, or anywhere else really. I won't be back, unless my tires are still under warranty, and even then I may choose another location. read more

For the past few days my tire has been low when I came out in the morning. With the weather finally letting up some I was able to bring it into Firestone and have it looked at. Checking in the car found out we are going on two years and the wife bought basic package with no perks (usually means anything happens they do nothing for you.) After they got the tire off and checked out I was informed I had a nail right in the middle of the tire. Chico Ortiz told me that area was an area they could repair it on. Not only could they repair it but they did it free of charge! Small things like this show customer appreciation and for that reason, I will be a loyal customer. Nice way to start the morning. My dad brought his suv here. The tech said oil pan leak and it was repaired for almost $400. Three days later there is still leak and they said it's another issue and want another $700. Well why did u fix the oil pan if that wasn't the problem.?? Talk about incompetent techs. I'm already weird about my tires, I know this. Friends and family know this. I drive every day for work and play and I HATE thinking my tire pressure is low. So much so I regularly check them with my tire gauge. So after I got brand-spanking-new-price-of-a-getaway tires I thought I was good for a bit. Then they started to look low, so I aired them up.. Then I went out to my car this morning and what happens? You guessed it. They look low again! I got bad tires! (was my initial reaction). Pissed and ready to get my money back and take that trip to Mexico I've been day dreaming about, I stopped by the Firestone next to Wendy's on Wm Cannon/S. I-35. I told them my problems, and everyone there was totally friendly, helpful, and efficient. They talked to me a long time about tire pressure/wear and tear, and if they thought I was a freak they never showed it. They even told me to come back so they could rotate and do a tire dunk (no clue what that is but it sounds fun!).. And, they did it in a MUCH faster then I was originally told.. Best part? They gave me a new tire gauge as a present! Thank you, Firestone, for dealing with my tire anxiety like it ain't no thang. read more

Look for Victor! He'll take care of all your problems. We had our truck serviced here immediately after auction. They diagnosed the truck and proceeded to repair and diagnose all their recommendations. After the initial service, there was a slight issue with thumping noise when accelerating. It turned out, the other motor mounts need to be replaced as well. They changed them out under warranty, but I had to pay for the additional parts. The truck is now fixed. I'm satisfied. And will definitely be coming back. read more

I went in a few days ago, having been there earlier in the week. Unfortunately I am really bad with names so forgot their names but the first guy that helped me the first day I went was extremely nice and took the time to help me right away. They weren't able to help me that day because they didn't have the lugnut key that my truck needed so I asked if I could return when I had one. I came back a couple of days later and right of the bat, the guy who "helped" me this time around was being a complete jerk. I explained my situation and what they told me before. He sniggered and agreed to do what we asked (which was only to remove lugnuts and put them back on--that's all). He took my keys and said we'd have to leave the truck because it would be a while. I called about 2 1/2 hours later and the same guy answered the phone and said we were next so maybe another 1 1/2 hr. I called 2 hours later and they said it still wasn't ready so I told him I would just go pick up my truck. I went in, got my keys and drove to Guerrero Tire Shop a few blocks away. As soon as I got there the guy walked up to me and took my lugnuts off and put back in less than 10 minutes! I wasted my whole day waiting for Firestone to simply remove my lugnuts when another place did it in less than 10 minutes!! I truly believe the guy that took my 'order' kept pushing back my truck just to be a jerk. I've gone to other Firestones many times and never have had to wait so long to get my car back. I will never go back to the South I35 location and will think twice about going to another one. read more

Me: I am a small girl who knows a bit about cars. I grew up around dirt bike tracks, and working on cars with my father and brother. Most guy mechanics try to give me a lot of BS and are shocked when I call them out on their misinformation (ex: hydraulic fluid and clutch fluid are the same thing.) My vehicle: 2006 Nissan Frontier King Cab SE 4x4 My issue: check engine light on (Aamco diagnosed it as the front two catalytic converters, a repair I'd already had done at a local Austin shop for $1,000) Service Manager: Alexis My Review: Alexis gave me professional quality service from beginning to end. I came in knowing my vehicle's issue, but she suggested that I have her guys do a diagnostic for the $80 fee. She did not question that I knew my vehicle, or pressure me into the fee, but rather explained that it was necessary for her to be able to warranty the work. After the previous issues I'd had else where I agreed. Alexis was prompt in calling me to give me the results and begin the work. I opted for after market parts as this was the less expensive route ($1,400 vs. $2,190). After getting the old parts removed and the after market cats installed the mechanic noted that the after market parts did not fit the OEM gaskets properly, and this was most likely why I had issue from the previous repairs. Alexis called me right away and was thorough in her explanation. She apologized for the inconvenience and promised she would have my truck ready to go Monday before I was off work. Monday just before noon I got a call from Alexis letting me know that they'd run into another issue. It seems that the previous shop had welded my exhaust in order to attempt to get the after market cats to fit. The awesome people at Firestone went above and beyond, towed my Frontier to a shop that welds, had them fix the exhaust back to factory specs, towed it back, and threw on the new cats. They did this all in the same day and didn't charge me additional labor (given how much of an ordeal the whole process had already been). So by the end of the transaction my truck was ready on time, no more check engine light, all and back to OEM specs! I will take both of my, and my friend's and family's vehicles here from now on. I was so not happy with the way my work order was being handled at another store, so after an hour waiting for them to even pull my car into the bay, I cancelled my work order and left. Then, I went to this store to see if I could get better service. HOLY COW!!! Armando and Chico, with his "git r done" spirit, picked up on my frustrated situation and got the job done immediately. The manager, Carl, is awesome for being honest with me and telling me that there were too many people editing my ticket and that they made a mistake. I wish that it didn't take me having to post negative reviews to get their feedback, but the fact that they saw a mistake was made and tried to fix it is good. I would just say, make sure you pay attention to your quotes and your tickets when you get them because you are your own safety net, but I really do appreciate Carl helping me out on this one and having my back. Went into this location on Monday morning with a slow leak in my tire. Two techs sitting in the waiting area on their phones and watching the TV One said hello to me when I walked in, but went right back to his phones. One sales guy on phone in back office. Stood for a couple of minutes and I finally asked the techs if I was supposed to speak to them about my tire. One said, "No, you have to talk to the sales guy," and pointed to the back office before going back to his phone. Other tech didn't even look up. Sales guy finally got off the phone and came out and immediately told me I would need a new tire based on where I told him I saw the screw in my tire. Techs never moved. No tire was available in Austin, so getting the second star for being nice and telling me to try Discount Tire or NTB for Good Year tires. Went to Discount Tire and they had a new tire ordered for me for same afternoon. Second bad Firestone experience (2 separate locations). read more

BEWARE (long review but worth knowing what they did, truly unbelievable) After the tragedy that happened in Mustang Ridge this past Thursday I feel the need to write a review. I wish I could give fewer than one star. This place is a scam. I took my car in to have the tires balanced and rotated and an alignment. I was charged, but the work was not done! Instead of waiting and watching I went to get something to eat next door and came back in about 45 minutes. I figured I shouldn't have to watch, right? When they said my car was ready I asked if it was out of alignment. The manager called the technician over and the technician said, "Yeah, a little bit." "Which side?" I asked. "Both sides." and he walked off. I was about to take a trip during the heat of the Summer and I wanted to make sure my tires were running as well as they could before getting on the road. When I left Firestone I drove a few blocks and I just didn't feel right so I thought I better stop and look at the tires. It's a car that you have to turn the wheels far to one side to see the tires very well; unless you can crawl underneath or lift the car. I turned the wheels to one side and got out to see what I could. When I looked at one of my front tires I saw that a 20" strip of rubber was missing and the steel cord was exposed. The steel was frayed. I couldn't believe it. (The condition of the tire was not their fault. But I had taken the car in to make sure the tires were balanced and ready to go and I was charged for the work.) I drove back to Firestone. I went in and asked the manager if he could get the technician that worked on my car. When he finally found him I asked the technician, "Are any of the tires on my car that you just balanced missing tread?" ... (Pause) "No". I said "you didn't balance my tires or you would have noticed them missing tread". He said something like "I didn't see any missing tread." I don't remember much of the exchange with the technician at this point but it ended with him walking back into the shop area. The manager went to the register and began the refund process. I don't believe I had asked for the refund at this point. (There were 3 other customers in the waiting area.) I think the manager, the technician, and myself should have all walked out to the car and looked at the tire. After all, how many weights does it take to balance a tire that is missing 20" of tread? I thought that I was doing the right thing, the safest thing before a trip; taking my car in for a balance, rotation, and alignment. I'm glad I noticed that the tread was missing. Especially before a long Summer road trip. I'm just glad it was me that took the car in; not my daughter, wife, mother, or grandmother. Btw, I went back shortly after this incident to talk to the manager that I spoke with on the phone before I first took my car in. I told him the whole story and he just shook his head. It appears that the managers cannot control the level of workmanship in the shop. (Or maybe they don't want to deal with it or get into it or something.) Personally, if you do not have or cannot find trustworthy employees, maybe you should just shut it down. Isn't that better than risking the safety of others? The technician that lied about doing the work on my car is the master tech of this location. Truly unbelievable. The accident in Mustang Ridge killed 4 adults and 5 children were injured. In the middle of October, I went to this service center to have a tire repaired since the store where I bought my tires was closed for the day. I paid $25.00 to have the tire patched, which included balancing (not sure that balancing was actually needed). During Thanksgiving week, I went to the tire store where I bought my tires because the same tire wasn't holding pressure. They fixed my tire (no charge) and told me that there was no evidence of previous repair (e.g. a patch) on the tire. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Firestone. read more

I called yesterday and asked how much it would cost to get my brakes fixed and the gentleman on the phone said it would be between 200/400. I made the appointment and took it to them after work. I get there and I was greeted by a lady, she was nice and very helpful. She said she would call me before they do any work on my car to let me know what was needed and how much it was going to cost. 45 mins later she calls to tell me it would $839 for the front brakes and $936 for the back brakes. I told her not to touch my car because that was ridiculous and I was not going to pay that. I get there and she printed out a list of all the "things" they said needed to be done to my car to the tune of $4472!!! I took my car to the place that does my oil changes and he said none of what they listed for my brakes needed to be done only the front brake pads....he charged me $160....Shame on you Firestone!!! Came in on a Saturday and set an appt for Sunday at 11:30am. Came in the next day to find my scheduled appt time was not honored. While waiting for 2 hours, one of the customer finally got her oil changed and left. 10 minutes later she came back with her engine smoking. Another one of the guest waiting said that that also happened to her car on the last visit. Now that makes me and another guy waiting to get his oil change nervous. I spoke with Dave that my time here is over due and that i will take my car elsewhere to get the job done properly. He gave me his business card for a free oil change. I took my car in for a brake job and tune up, got a coupon and thought all was well. I noticed a rattling sound when i went over bumps and about a week later i lost complete control of my brakes while exiting the highway. It turned out that the technician FORGOT to put the bolts back into the brake caliper. My car was the last one before his lunch break and my only guess was that he rushed through the job. This made for a terrifying experience since i broke down at night and was helped by a homeless man who stepped in to assist me. I was given a full refund for the job and had the caliper replaced. I still don't feel as if i was made whole because this botched job put me in an extremely dangerous position. They merely gave me a refund so that i wouldnt threaten to sue them. They could kill someone by providing such irresponsible service. read more

After visiting several tire places throughout the Austin area, and getting treated completely unprofessionally, I decided to stop at this Firestone location. I have kind of a strange issue...I purchased a set of tires for my vehicle from a TreadPro's location in my home town halfway across the country. Being told I would receive service anywhere in the U.S. (which is b.s. but thats for another day), I was ultimately told to take the vehicle wherever. Dave at Firestone was the only person at any of the 4 shops I visited that even bothered to look at the issue. He worked with me and the warranty company to get another tire ordered because they don't carry Cooper tires, and the issue should be resolved tomorrow. Even if the warranty company effs things up from here out, I at least received the treatment I expected, from a company that wasn't even in the preferred provider network. Needless to say, Dave earned this Firestone location the business of me and my wife while we live in Austin. read more

Well guess what? I arrive at Firestone after class today around 4:30 and there is no rental car there. What a shocker - not. There's my buddy Kevin, "Hey, wasn't expecting you so soon! Let me call Enterprise!". Is this even really happening? So he calls them and I hear some back and forth about whether or not they can arrange it. 10 minutes elapse and Kevin tells me they're on their way. 45 minutes after that, Enterprise arrives. There is more bickering between Firestone and Enterprise and 15 minutes later I am in the rental car with the Enterprise guy going back to Enterprise, heading in the opposite direction of my home... sweet. We get to enterprise and they've copied my license and insurance. Now all they need is my deposit. Wait... What?! Kevin and I have already CLEARLY established I wasn't putting up ANY money for this rental. Everything comes to a stand-still. Enterprise assures me I'll get my money back. I tell enterprise how much I trust Firestone and that we have already established that I'm not putting up any funds, period, no matter what. So Enterprise calls Firestone. I'm pacing back and forth at Enterprise for 45 minutes while these two try very hard to work it out on the phone. Firestone keeps putting Enterprise on hold to make other calls. Ultimately, Kevin from Firestone goes around me and calls my elderly father, and guilts him into providing HIS credit card info, putting a hold on his card!! Are you even serious?!?! How could you possibly do that, and go around me in the process, just because you had his name in the system? Pathetic. I was done fighting though, and left with the car. I'm so entirely unhappy, I feel legal recourse may be the only option at this point. read more
