What a ripoff place! I removed the flat tire from my Expedition and brought it over to them. They wanted $30 to fix the flat. You can tell a lot about a company that overcharges for things just because they believe they have you over a barrel. I will wait until Monday and take it over to Discount tire next door and get it repaired for free! I would have been happy with $10-$20 repair, but $30 - total rip-off folks! Last May I went in for alignment issues before a road trip to Chicago - ended up with a few repairs and a new set of tires. These guys are worth their weight in gold! I had a bulge in the front tire of my rental - Hertz Gold - and after being told to bring the car to any Firestone for repair I did so. This shop had a courteous and respectful crew, they helped me out and even spent an hour on the phone with Hertz arguing that THEY HERTZ should cover the Cost of replacing the tire. Well all Hertz renters remember that if you decline the high priced daily coverage cause your insurance company tells you you are covered (AKA AAA) that if you get a bulge in your tire, just take the whole car back to Hertz and get a new one or you will be paying for a new tire. The guys at Firestone replaced my tire and comped it. They were as dissatisfied as I was with Hertz. Thanks guys for making my trip a good one. read more

Everyone that works for firestone should be in jail. They are a bunch of criminals who try to take advantage of people. My Grand Prix was showing the ABS light so I took it there. They tell me my abs controller was gone bad. Keep in mind these things show codes on their machine. They said it would be like $1500 to replace it then they would have to charge me more to diagnose and make sure there was nothing else wrong. I said mmmm, im not that stupid and went to the dealer where I bought the care. Yeah, 125 bucks later. The ABS front left sensor was UNPLUGGED. Absolutely horrible service. I have gone to this Firestone a few times and each time has been a nightmare. This will be the last time I rely on them for anything. They're very sales driven, they will tell you one thing "Your strut mounts need to be replaced. The passengers side strut mount caused your rear spring to break, which then popped your tire" after finding out they aren't able to quickly get rear springs for my car I said I can just get it done elsewhere. The response was then "We can just put springs on it, the mounts will be fine" "but you said?" "Yeah, after looking into it further the mounts are fine, we'll just do springs for you" Every time you go in there with a flat or tire leak they will tell you you need a new tire because you drove on it. Even if you didn't drive on it at all. There is no customer loyalty. There's not looking for what's best for you but only for them, avoid this place! read more

They ripped off my senior citizen mother on her brakes. I have no idea why I went there, other than the fact that I simply went in for an oil change. It was on sale for $23. I sold the truck the next day, and when that was happening, upon the oil filter being inspected, found that that NEVER REPLACED THE OIL FILTER!!!! It was Grotesque and banged up, and they left it in there, in spite of having said they replaced it, right there in plane English on the paperwork. These people are CROOKS! I complained a week ago and no one has bothered to contact me back, or offer any kind of refund whatsoever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Backstory also.... My mother went in, and they did over a thousand dollars in work on her breaks and there was still squeaking (the breaks had always functioned fine, even before they did this work that "needed to be done"). She took it to Firestone again, and they tried to sell her more stuff... she finally took her car elsewhere, and the next place said that not only did she NOT NEED ANYTHING FIRESTONE SAID SHE NEEDED, but also, the work they DID DO would have never affected this squeak she brought it in for, because it had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKES. This particular Firestone store ripped my poor, immigrant mother off. We went there to buy some new tires for her vehicle, and to take advantage of the special on lifetime alignments that they were running. We bought some 60,000 mile tires, and after 30,000 2 of the tires were completely shot. Now, when the tires were purchased, there was not any mention on a requirement of how frequently alignments should be performed in order for the tire warranty to remain valid. We got the tires rotated every 6 months AT THIS SAME SHOP and also got the alignment done every time as well (it was lifetime free, so why not!). When we went in and inquired about a warranty claim on the tires, the particular Firestone representative (store manager) who helped us got very hostile, very quickly. We simply stated that the tires had not lived up to their expected useful life, and wanted to go ahead and get them replaced. We were met with arrogance and rudeness, and they REFUSED to honor the tire warranty. The manager stated that we had not some our part in preserving the tires, because we did not perform alignment and rotations based on their "RECOMMENDED" schedule. They never recommended any schedule for us at all. These people claimed that their computer records reflected a lack of maintenance, despite our presentation of all of the paper receipts of the services performed. We are never going to this Firestone store again, and the entire brand lost customers as well. The only thing we will go to any Firestone for ever again, is to take advantage of the lifetime alignment for this car. read more

I haven't had any major work done here but I got a good deal on my oil change and on a separate visit, they did a free VAG-COM (code readout) to diagnose my check engine light. Both times they were friendly, non-patronizing, fairly efficient guys. I never felt pressured or mislead. That said, I can't vouch for their work on brakes, tires, etc. read more

I bought my tires from another Firestone & opted for the lifetime (of your car) rotation program. That was a great experience, but in this review I'm talking about this Firestone's maintenance department. Originally recommended to me by a friend, I've gone here a number of times over the last few years for oil changes and services. Mike and the rest of the gang have always been very friendly and taken care of my car. They've patiently answered all of my questions and never tried to sell me on anything, but just let me know if something was wrong, or heading south & what they would charge for it. After trying to make an appointment with the Firestone in downtown Ann Arbor and finding rude and poor service, I'm glad I found this place. I'd highly recommend it to anyone for tires, a tune up, or normal maintenance. read more

Avoid, avoid, avoid.... AVOID, my friends! High mileage driver that MUST take care of his car. Wrong to tip your hat to that. They are clearly paid on commission and after spending approximately 4700 in 2 months with them on a car that was expertly maintained already, I asked around to some of my friends (wrong order, I know), feeling like I was being squeezed. After going through my invoices with a buddy of mine it turns out almost everything they did was extraneous. What tipped me off was once I was inputting the invoice to excel it automatically filled in 'Brake Flush.' I thought, "That's not something that should need to be done very often." I sorted through the sheet and realized, WOW that was done 2 months ago. Interestingly enough, the most common answer is around 100,000 or 2 years.... NOT two months. They're totally competent if you need your oil changed, but absolutely do not ask for advice on your car here. Not trustworthy at all. Yes, it's my fault. Buyer, beware. Hopefully you are more aware and steer clear. I was sad to see so many negative reviews of a business that has treated me well, so I decided I had to post a review. I have never had my car serviced here--for that I would go nowhere but to Sam's in Ypsi--but I have purchased tires here, and my experience has been good. I bought a set of tires to replace the worn originals on my car 20 months ago. It was my own ignorance that resulted in my buying tires that were utterly useless in snow. No one talked me into those tires; I chose them, based on online research that I realized later I did poorly, and suffered the consequences. With the heavy-duty winter showing up early this year, I knew I needed better tires, so I went back to Firestone and asked if they could give me a deal on a new set of better tires. To say they gave me an excellent deal is an understatement. I ended up paying less for four tires with excellent snow ratings than I had paid for the original four that I didn't like. They were courteous and did the job quickly and efficiently and I was on my much safer way. For tires, these guys get an A+ from me. read more

Have been a customer for since 2002, since I moved out to the A2 area. At times it takes forever to get your repairs complete. But at least they stand behind their work and people. Has there been some mistakes and I had to advise them of it yes, they are not perfect but truly care about their customers. I dropped my car off over the weekend on my way out of town to have a leak fixed on the tire. They said it wouldn't take long, but agreed to hold it for the weekend since I was in a rush to get on the road. I received a voicemail about an hour later indicating the car was fixed and ready to be picked up. When I returned on Sunday, however, NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO THE CAR. I spoke with the technician who left the message indicating the work had been completed as well as the store manager. Both indicated they had attempted to call me multiple times (nothing showed up on my cell phone records) and scolded me for being inaccessible and not answering my phone. I tried to explain that it's impossible to answer a phone that's not ringing, but they didn't want to hear it. They refused to fix my car as they declared only Goodyear (where I purchased the tires) could do that -- seeing as how I mentioned all of this when I dropped it off and they indicated there was no problem, this sudden decision makes no sense. I proceeded to say "I should have known better than to bring my car to Firestone" as three years I went to the Briarwood location for new brakes and they forgot to screw the bolts on my tire back on all the way. The tire proceeded to go diagonal on the car on the highway and cause $3k in damage, as well as almost killing me in the accident that ensued. I thought I'd give them a second chance, but that was a grave mistake. Firestone has a terrible business model and no respect for their customers. It's as if they think they're doing US a FAVOR by taking in our vehicles and taking OUR MONEY. read more

If I could score this location with negative stars, I would. Fiancé just dropped off her 2008 Chevy Impala at this Firestone location to have it looked at because her car wouldn't start and she thought it might be a starter issue. The technician she spoke two quoted her at $1200 for a new starter and oil pan; which he claimed was leaking into the starter and causing the issue. Part of the high price was that he quoted 7 hours of labor. When we got this estimate, we both were shocked at how steep the price was. So we looked around and decided to have to car towed by AAA from Firestone to City Body Auto Repair in Ypsi. When we arrived to take the car, Firestone charged us $25 dollars for preparing an estimate, and the technician told us he would price match whatever the quote at city body was. This is INTENTIONAL price gouging and attempt to take advantage of a customer who does not know much about car repair. We just received our estimate from City Body this afternoon, $545 out the door for a new starter, tire rod, and fix of the pan with 2.5 hours of labor. This and probably other Firestone locations overcharge customers who don't any better, this is SHAMEFUL and I will not be taking any of our vehicles to a Firestone again. read more

The evil snake in the 21st century car maintenance industry. A dishonest company, when they got a chance, they will bite you like a snake. I had my car for complete inspection. They said my brakes and brake rotor need to be replaced, in total will be $500. However, they forgot to do the battery and all the other part. So when I found this, I called them and they said my car is perfect so nothing need to be written at all. (1st mistake and latter they turned out to be a liar) So, after five days when I get my car examined the second time at firestone. When I got the report, the report was fully written this time. However, they found my car has no problem in brakes!! ALL OF THEM RELATED TO BRAKES ARE CHECKED AS GREEN!! OK. See what happens next. THEY FOUND MY CAR HAS PROBLEM RELATED TO MY STEERING OIL LEAKING. IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED FOR $700. OK. What's next? In the paper work for recommendation to repair, brakes are suggested for replacing!!! OMG. It is so hilarious! Because the second check didn't contain anything about brakes. Only the first one. So I know, one of the staff in the firestone is cheating me. At last, myself is very slient guy and I am super lazy and don't want to leave any note to public. But this time, I want to warn EVERYONE LIVES IN ANN ARBOR that, be careful about firestone! In the last, recommend the most HONEST car maintaince compnay: Japanese Auto Professional Service Ltd , 563 S Main St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. Trust me. I came there few times, and nearly every tone felt like I've been ripped off, but this last time takes the cake. One of my tires (that I got at firestone, mind you, less than two years prior) developed a hole, so I came to get it changed. Since I was there, I've asked them to change the oil, and perhaps charge the air conditioner, if it wouldn't take too much time. After two hour of sitting in the lobby, they come out to me to say that the tire needs to be replaced, and the air conditioner has no problems, but needs to be recharged. Gee, where have I heard it before. In top of that, they do not have the necessary tire, and need to drive across town for half hour to get it (plus, they claimed they "prorated" the cost of the new tire, as the old one was supposed to be under warranty, except I remember what I paid in the end, and it was still pretty much the entire price). And the cost of recharging the air conditioner is more than 3 times that I know it can be done at Packard Auto Repair, so I declined, but they still charged me 50 bucks for "inspecting" the air conditioner. Needless to say, I'm never coming here again. read more

Raging a bit much right now to go into detail, but on more than one occasion I left their shop only to find out well down the road (10-15 minutes), that the problem wasn't fixed, leaving me stranded. One vehicle they literally gave up, never found a solution, I was out nearly $700 with a useless broken jeep. The other, just today, my vehicle is smoking after I'm half way home. I took my car in because it was the closest thing to me and I didn't know how long it would take for my car to finally break down. I take it they say they're going to do testing. Costs $100. They did the testing, then called me with a quote. On the phone, the quote sounded right. I'm a young girl who didn't really know that I was being overcharged. Anyway I go the next day to pick it up. Cars acting better, awesome! Then I see the quote printed...ignition coil, spark plugs, and a new battery. No problem there great prices. But then I saw the "service fee" for each item. For them to install spark plugs, almost a $200 service fee. I forgot how much the service fee was for the battery and ignition coil. I left there paying a damn grand with only a SMALL portion of it being for the actual parts. 3 weeks later, here I am having the EXACT SAME THING happening. Now I got to research for a new place to go, and research every part that they try to do so I know that I won't get ripped off. So moral of the story, if you're looking for great scam artists, go to Firestone! A grand... $1,000. Down the drain now that my car isn't working again. read more

I first brought my fiance's car here after experiencing violent shaking in the front end. The car was fixed promptly, and the service was very polite. I haven't had any issues since. My second trip was for an electrical issue. It took a day to get it diagnosed, but the service was again friendly. When it came time to discuss price, I was told it would be over $500. I spoke with a mechanic in the family, and he told me that the price they wanted to charge for the part was excessively high over what he could get. After the Firestone rep informed me they cannot install customer furnished parts, I found another place that would. All in all, I saved $200 dollars ($100 in parts, $100 in labor) by going elsewhere. Aside from the higher prices, the service was great. The people I talked to were patient, and informative. Due to the higher price, I would suggest shopping around before committing to this place though. read more

For years now I've been going to this Firestone location and each time I've been blown away. Never met an employee there that didn't greet me promptly and with a smile. Before servicing my vehicle, someone will explain to me exactly what is wrong with my car, options as to how to fix it, and then gives me various prices. In the past I've shopped around for better deals but Firestone consistently does an excellent job at very reasonable rates. Highly recommend, I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

UPDATE TO POST: Firestone has been very helpful with this situation and made it very clear in a written statement that Gerber collision never had them inspect my tires/rims or wheels. That they were only contracted to replace a spare tire and test my axel's integrity by giving my truck an alignment. Gerber never gave them a description of my accident, nor did they tell them to check my tires...that I even stated in my police report were definitely affected by the lifting/pushing and dropping motion/action made back the truck who hit me from behind ( i was on a downward ~ 30-35% grade when i was hit from behind and my rear end was lifted. I was also pushed into a pothole. Firestone's customer service reached out to me, and I appreciate that. They sent me a written statement detailing Gerber's professional deficit in the matter. I was on a downward sloping hill when i was hit from behind. The other truck got under my rear bumper and lifted me end into the air. When the other truck pulled away my truck dropped!.I heard a large thud. I thought my whole rear end fell out. Fortunately it was just my spare tire and that was easy enough to pick up from the road and roll into my truck ( i drive a chevy Suburban ).But my truck was shaking all over the road. So now you know about the accident.The body shop replaced my bumper, spare tire and spare tire harness. They sent my truck to Firestone to have the tie rods and axel checked. Firestone did an alignment & put me back in my truck. My truck was still shaking all over the place.I complained and Firestone said they couldn't see it for another week. So i took my truck to another auto shop. It was explained to me that my radial belts were blown out from being lifted and dropped. That my tires could have exploded at anytime. So I immediately replaced them. I am still trying to be reimbursed by my insurance...since my insurance originally dealt with Firestone...it has been a struggle. read more

I went to get my oil changed ($30) and a noise checked out on my car/broken AC. They were very quick with the work and found the problem with my AC, which was related to the noise. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They looked around for cheaper parts to help bring the AC repair costs down and even called the company my warranty was under to see if they could cover it. In the end I didn't get my AC repaired (still too expensive for me, ~$1100-1200), but I really appreciated their extra efforts to defray the cost. This is not the first time I've used their services, and I've been happy with each visit. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about this place yet. I had my car into a dealer a year ago and everything checked out. I went into firestone knowing my VVT solenoids needed to be replaced but wanted everything else checked too. According to them, my tires lasted less than 30,000 miles which were 70,000 mile rated tires. In fairness to then I could tell that they were wearing, tires aren't all made like they used to be. My breaks and rotors which we just replaced ourselves a bit over a year ago lasted less than 15,000 miles. I get that it all depends on how the car is driven and such, but I spend most of my time on the freeway and not on the breaks. This looks very suspicious to me. And I've had bad experiences at other auto places like having oil left leaking out on my way home from a dealer oil change or a tire magically having a nail in it 3 times in a week. So now I'm already kind of wary of mechanics now without getting second opinions. In fairness, I had a caliper lock and I knew that by looking at it, but they just worked on my car a couple weeks ago and put new tires on and they said it wasn't like that then. Odd coincidence? $3200 between what we paid them and the battery and solenoids we put in ourselves. Insane. I hope that the parts we had are just cheaply made and firestone isn't taking us for a ride. They seem nice and honest enough. I'm just very disappointed how the car industry has gone. The car only has 73,000 miles on it. It was all dealer checked a year ago and has had maintinance on it regular since I bought it at 40,000 miles. It's just insane this all went at once. How can average people afford the price of parts and labor now that they make cars so it's difficult to properly do a lot of your own labor? read more
