I totally recommend this place to anyone that needs a repair on their car in the area. I had a…read morecaliper on my 4Runner break so had no brakes. I took it to Ann Arbor Toyota and after a few days of having my car they came back and told me that it was going to cost $2800 for rear calipers, rotors, and pads. Seriously??? I called DC Side Street and let them know I was really in a bind and needed to get my brakes fixed and asked them if they could possibly get my car in asap due to not being able to drive it. I told them about the situation and Chris told me be here at 8am the next morning. I was running late due to getting my car late and not being able to tow it. I drove it from Ann Arbor Toyota back roads to get it in. They literally had my car fixed that day by 4pm. They did this because they care about their customers and know that word of mouth is how they get new customers. Oh I didn't mention, they did my brakes do a fraction of the price, literally over half the price of what Ann Arbor Toyota quoted me. I will forever be a loyal customer to this place. Thanks again boys!

Disappointing! Had a new water pump installed on our Camry several months ago and found out later…read morethe radiator reservoir was never filled . Also a bolt was left out of the spray shield under the front end when the radiator was drained. The new owner was indifferent about it. Very poor workmanship Been with Side street a long time but will not go back. Mike G.

When our 1986 Honda Accord (my wife is the original owner) needed a water pump replacement. I could…read morenot get it done myself due to a rusty and badly seized bolt holding the water pump-alternator bracket. I called almost every auto repair shop in Chelsea, Dexter, and even Ann Arbor area but nobody was willing to touch this 37 year old car. Then I called Jeff who was willing to take a look. I got the car towed to the shop and John got the seized nut out, remove the bracket and replaced the water pump. The cooling system was refilled and tested for no leak. I was very impressed by the professionalism and excellent service. I know now where I can get our collectable Honda serviced when I cannot do it myself. Thank you the excellent service team at Kern.

a while back I brought in my f150 to fix 2 snapped bolts on my rear differential. they charged me 1…read morehour per bolt and demanded the diff plate be replaced. at the time I just needed my truck as it's part of my income, so I didn't think much of it. they broke another bolt in the process of removing the plate and then charged me for that one too. but that's not the problem I have. my old diff plate was totally undamaged. those bolts don't thread into the plate either, so one's the unbroken bolts were removed, the plate could be removed and then the old bolts drilled out or welded out. th one fix cost me nearly $900 and about $300 of it was for the new diff plate. they didn't put any protective coating on the new plate either so now it's rusting and the rtv seal was haphazardly placed and squeezed out around the entire differential. there's nothing professional about the work that was done and I can honestly say that I will never go back. honest mechanics are hard to come by. after my experiences, maybe it's time for me to open a shop. I'd be slow, but I wouldn't lie to my customers and my ability to apply rtv would easily be superior.
