I wouldn't take my car anywhere else for any auto maintenance. Bob, the manager, is awesome. He's…read moredown-to-earth and completely honest. They'll tell you exactly what you need done here and will never try to sell you on anything. I've actually brought a few different used cars here over the years. It's important to find your local mechanic that you can trust. The place you can bring your car when something is up but you don't know what, and you want to be able to have someone look at it, figure it out... and that you know is being totally honest with what you need and what you don't. I'm so lucky I found that place in Ypsilanti. As Bob has gotten to know me as a regular customer, he's done so much to help me out. He goes out of his way to locate good used parts for me if I can't afford brand new ones. He knows me and takes care of me. I'm glad he really appreciates regulars like that. I just have to call ahead and see what they've got going on... because they DO get really busy, all the time. Think about it, though... isn't it a good sign when the shop is always busy?

TJ Fluellen, the store manager at Midas at 404 E. Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti, charged me $1025 on…read moreour first visit to his Midas and $869 on the second visit ($1894 total) Both charges were to fix the air-conditioning on our 2014 Honda CRV. Their website says that they provide service for "Car AC and Heating Services". Both attempts to fix the AC failed. I took it back after the 2nd visit and asked for my money back. TJ refused saying he wants his team to try again. His team tried a 3rd time and a 4th time and failed. I ultimately took the car to the Honda dealer, who fixed it with no recurring problems. I have reached out to the Midas District manager, Serah Seales, and repeatedly asked Midas to provide a refund. They are no longer responding to my attempts to contact them and I recently reported them to several consumer advocacy agencies. Potential customers, please be aware that the Ypsilanti Midas did not successfully provide a service they advertise and when they failed, they did not provide a refund. Is Midas driven by pure greed? Is this event evidence of a practice that's been dishonest in the past? I don't know their motive nor history. The whole situation lies in the hands of TJ Fluellin. He could fix this problem but has refused. But I also question the qualifications of the mechanics and want the public to know so that this local business in Ypsilanti might change its ways and become an honest, reliable car service in Washtenaw County.

Bogg's I & II are something you just do not see anymore, independent gas stations. The owner must…read morebe a good manager. He has something you do not see anymore, long term employees. There are a few Boogs employess at the Holmes Road (near Von's Plaza and Holmes Road Diner) station who have worked for Boggs several years and worked for Red when he owned the large station (it had a garage then) across the street. Just as a single builder-landlord kept rent lower in Ypsilanti, Boggs keeps gasoline lower priced. I suspect he often sells his gas at cost, looking to the little stores for profit. He provides another service. Free air and he keeps his air compressor and hose well maintained. He also keeps the hose in a good location. It's smart business. Boggs has me passing the other stations, even when they are a little cheaper (which is not very often) just because I appreciate the air hose and the polite cashiers.

Don't go to this Boggs. Horrible experience. Firstly, let's discuss the cleanliness--or rather, the…read morelack thereof. The station has a strong stench, and an overall lack of hygiene. It was clear that no effort was made to maintain basic cleanliness standards. (I would not try their "soup" for this reason). Also the pumps look very outdated. Gas prices are cheap but not any better than other nearby options. When I was there, a lot of kids were on the sidewalk where you pull in and out. They were going to cross Prospect to get to school. It seems odd that the city allowed a gas station to be built so close to an elementary school. Also the man working was incredibly rude and unhelpful. When I went to pay he barely acknowledged my presence and seemed annoyed to be there.

First, she accused me of lying about it and not actually having proof that this was a system error, she said it was my mistake, after some back and forth she hung up on me. Then she responded to my google review accusing me of threatening reviews online to get $400 worth of free services (I asked to not be charged the cancellation fee as this was NOT my fault). Just weird as if this system error is a grand scheme to get money out of them. Despite asking her to no longer contact me she continued to call and text. Completely unhinged. Sad to say, the mechanic seemed like a really nice dude and I'm sure he would have done a good job, but the customer service makes or breaks a company. Stay away from them!

Based on that experience, I highly recommend Fischer over Germain in Ann Arbor. From initial phone call to in-person contact and parting ways, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt valued as a customer. They went out of their way to offer me a free loaner while they took the morning to repair my vehicle, and true to their word, didn't charge me for any of it (I followed their instructions to bring it back at the same fuel level and without any damage). They did try to upsell me on some maintenance items (brake fluid and air filters needed change), but were nice about it and didn't push it when I said no thanks. If I have any Honda dealership-specific needs in the future, I'll definitely consider coming here, even though it's much farther out of my way than Germain.
