We put the fireplace in the year after he started this company I see. I have had 0 problems with this fireplace. It is magnificent. It heats the whole house and looks so realistic. It is a gas Heat and Glow unit. Everything about the install was professional and great and Chris comes out and services it yearly, and does a magnificent job of putting it all back together, cleaning it out, and making sure all the components are working perfectly. Far safer than the old traditional wood burning or duroflame logs. Absolutely love it as soon as the weather changes. It heats the whole house and I never turn on the house heater. read more

If you need a fireplace and want a positive low hassle experience, Fireplace Plus is the answer. Visited the showroom on Saturday and our questions were answered enabling us to make a quick decision. They confirmed our Wednesday appointment 24 hours ahead of the visit and called ahead when they were available to install a half hour early. Shortly after Sean and JD began the install, they noticed we could use 24 inch logs instead of the smaller logs we ordered Saturday. This is the second time I've been to this store. It's located in an industrial-ish area of San Marcos, easy to find with Google or Waze. They have a showroom of all things fireplaces and also fire glass, which is why I shop here. I needed some more blue fire glass to top off a fountain but the color I needed is in short supply and difficult to find. Because they didn't have any in stock and unable to procure any more of that particular color, the owner graciously offered to sell me the display rock. Talk about customer service!!! read more

Stopped in without am appointment and we were greeted by Shari Ball. Told her our ideas for existing gas fireplace and she showed us around the showroom, explaining the different setups. Shari gave us great ideas and clear pricing. We agreed to have a service tech come to our home as we knew the gas connection was old etc. Tech Shawn arrived and was great. Basically our existing setup needed a deep cleaning and the gas connection updated along with new reflective glass. I did the cleaning and repainted the fire box and trim on the glass doors. Shawn came back a few weeks later and upgraded the gas connection to code, added sand and new reflective glass. Reinstalled the newly cleaned but existing log setup. Looks like the whole unit is new again. Friendly, informative people, who helped us regain our gas fireplace. Highly recommend & it's worth it to have the tech come by before the job is started. We walked in to get an idea about what kind of fireplaces were available for our home. The salesman seemed annoyed, was condescending in his tone, and was visibly frustrated that we didn't know all the specs on our current gas fireplace. He had an agenda of his own, which was not to be helpful or courteous. He wouldn't explain any of the technical jargon to us. Every request we had was pretty reasonable, like desiring bedrock vs faux wood, but every answer provided was "no." Do not trust this place. My husband and I went here to get fire balls and a grate for our outdoor fireplace and had a horrific experience. The woman who helped us seemed inconvenienced to answer any questions we had and tried to charge us over $800 with a 12-14 week shipping delay. We ended up finding everything we needed for under $150 on Amazon (fire balls) and Home Depot (fire grate). This place is stuck in the 80's with their manual order process, traditional catalogue of items and overpriced bs. I found this place via Yelp and am very pleased that I decided to make the drive out to south San Marcos. I parked on the street and entered through the showroom. There is a second entrance near the garage area if you park in the parking lot. They have quite a variety of fireplaces, indoor and out, and well as fire pits. They also have every possible accessory you could imagine, if they don't have it there they can order it. They were very busy when I arrived. That was fine by me as I perused the showroom for ideas. Eli was the associate that helped me out. I went in with a basic idea of what I wanted for our "do it yourself" fireplace project. Eli gave me a wealth of education and quickly packed up my burner, reflective glass and stones. He even loaded everything into my trunk. He let me know to call if we have any questions at all once we got going on the project. Prices seemed comparable to what I found online and in other stores. They offer installation if you need it, I can't speak for that pricing. Great specialty store. I will be back for further projects or supplies. read more

Do NOT use this company for your fireplace needs. My husband and I bought a gas fireplace about 6 months ago for our new remodel. We tried it out a month ago when the weather turned colder. The first couple of times we used it, it smoked so badly the fire alarms went off. The last time we used it, the glass exploded all over our living room. We called for help, and they put us on their books for today, December 26th. They acted like they had to attend to their new buyers first. Today, they cancelled that repair appointment, and we don't know when they will get to us. Do NOT deal with this company. They get 2 stars for their selection, which is very good. But that's it for positives. As previous reviewers have noted, they are not friendly. But I was willing to put up with it in order to find something cool and unusual for our dual-sided fireplace. The woman seemed to want to punch me in the face the entire time, but I ended up buying a beach driftwood set-up for gas fireplace (after having to go home and take lots of pictures and filling out forms per her request). Then we decided we didn't want to risk setting it up ourselves so I called them back and asked if they could do the install. It was like starting all over again. The guy demanded pictures, then criticized the materials I'd bought (from them!). He told me the sand would blacken and look bad. He also said what I'd bought probably wouldn't work for our fireplace even though the woman had chosen the materials based on the information from the form she made me fill out! Finally I'd had it. When I took back the materials, the same woman who'd sold them to me challenged me about what the guy had told me (who she works with!!) and kept insisting that she'd told me there would be black deposits on the sand. I was very friendly and just kept asking for my money back. Because it had been more than 30 days since the process started, she did me the big favor of giving me my money back instead of store credit and let me know more than once what a huge bonus this was for a customer. We moved in to a house with 2 fireplaces that had never been used. We checked for logs at Home Depot and Lowes but were disappointed with the quality. After much research online we found Fireplaces Plus. We went on a very busy Saturday - the Saturday before Thanksgiving! - and they were swamped. We waited patiently (unlike some other customers) and ended up working with Eli who helped us to understand what we would need for fireglass in one and logs in the other. We didn't have the necessary measurements so he advised how to take those, and we placed the order with him over the phone late that afternoon. We were stunned to find our product was available the following Wednesday - the day before Thanksgiving! We picked it up, installed it ourselves, and had a lovely holiday with friends and family. We later found the set of logs we'd chosen on another website - for more $$. I would use this company again, and would recommend it to a friend. PROS: -They have a ton of fireglass color options available for you to see, many different styles and sizes of logs, and even unique things like shaped cones and spheres for the contemporary look -Appear to have many options of fire rings and associated items for your fireplace or fire pit -There is a large room with a dozen different fireplaces that show off the different types of logs and glass, and they can turn on the fire so you can see what the options look like -Knowledgeable staff CONS: -They are located in an industrial park in San Marcos - not centrally located -The products we received had poor instructions. We went online to find better instructions and installed based on that. (We are handy enough to do this - might not be an option for everyone) read more
