When I bought my house in Carlsbad 3 years ago, it came with a nice gas firepit that didn't work. I wanted a working firepit, so I started calling every company in the area with "Fireplace" in its name. Most of them said that what I wanted -- refurbishing an old fire pit -- was not something that they did. The person who answered the phone at AMS was willing to discuss possibilities with me, and after some back and forth, I decided that what I wanted was to have AMS rip out the plumbing in the existing firepit and replace it with a new insert. AMS fireplace first sent a plumber to verify that the gas pipes were safe and functional. Then they sent a technician to measure. Then they custom-manufactured a firepit insert that fit into my masonry, and then they sent out someone to remove the old burner and install the new one. I was so happy with the result that I decided to have AMS Fireplace replace the insides of the gas fireplace that came with my house with a new one that worked better (the heat goes into the room and not up the chimney). They did this too, but since it didn't require custom manufacturing it was quick. As I write this review it is late September 2024. I expect that in a month or so I will start wanting again to use the inside fireplace for warmth. In the meantime, my grandchildren love to cook smores and hot dogs on the outdoor firepit. I've had to devious about where I hide the key that turns on its gas. read more

Review for AMS Fireplace I live out of state and was expecting a call in early December about my fireplace log set, but I never received one. When I called, they did find my order and confirmed it was in, but I had to follow up a few times due to how busy they were. That said, AMS Fireplace absolutely came through-- they installed my fireplace logs on Christmas Eve, which I really appreciated. Saul was outstanding: extremely careful bringing everything in, respectful of my home, and he arranged the logs perfectly. His attention to detail and professionalism were excellent. Would recommend, just expect that you may need to be proactive with communication during peak season. read more

AMS Fireplace was completely unprofessional from start to finish. They never came out to inspect my fireplace. Instead, I sent them photos and measurements as requested. Then, when they finally showed up on the installation day, they told me they "couldn't work on my fireplace." That should have been determined before ever scheduling an install. They also changed the install date and later claimed they had left me a voicemail and sent an email -- neither of which ever happened. To make matters worse, they kept over $1,000 of my money and ignored more than five emails requesting a refund. I was ultimately forced to file a claim with my credit card company just to get my money back. This was a complete waste of time, stressful, and extremely disappointing. If you value your money and your sanity, stay far away from AMS Fireplace. read more

AMS fireplace made my dream come true for my gas masonry fireplace. It's a house from the 70s, and I was looking for a certain type of the door that I had seen in a picture over a year ago. AMS fireplace was able to create that exact door, amazing quality, and good value. Even if I am far from their office, they were able to accommodate having it installed, as well as having a completely redo of the logs and the lava stone as well as the inside of the chimney. Great professionalism, again excellent value, And did I say it was days before Christmas? It surely made a Christmas to remember. Rated 1 because there wasn't a Negative 5 star rating available. I ordered an $1,198.20 fireplace online with AMS 9/8. They charged my credit card. The next day, I received a "your order is cancelled due to unavailable stock" (sic) email. They didn't cancel the charge however. Not immediately. Not EVER. The bill went through the billing cycle. They didn't respond to my phone call messages or emails. I finally got Alexis to answer my call directly & she said "I saw your email & refunded it today. You should see it in 5-7 business days." Today is 37 days later and 7 business days will be 46 days! No call. No return of call. No process. No offer to expedite a refund that is a Month and a half LATE. I carried them for almost 7 weeks. They literally stole money on the "float". I don't know that I believe Alexis and will be checking my card daily for the next 9 days. Their online system DOES NOT WORK! Do not trust it! My husband and I purchased a fire pit table through Amazon for our home in Mendocino. The June delivery date came and went, but no table was delivered. I followed up through the Amazon website where I learned that this order was being filled by AMS Fireplace. Ana from AMS contacted me and advised that AMS did not have the table in stock, and indeed, they hadn't had this table in stock for some time due to pandemic-related materials shortages and delayed shipping. With this explanation, Ana apologized profusely and promised to prioritize this order when the table became available. And thus began Ana and my months-long relationship of following up with the manufacturer during which we we were given multiple promises of ship dates; each of which was broken with little to no explanation by the manufacturer By August, and thereafter on more than one occasion, I was told by Ana and other AMS employees that my situation had been discussed at a recent staff meeting in an effort to hasten the delayed shipment of our table. Staff was unfailingly polite, professional and I was left with the unequivocal impression that staff was genuinely trying to help. Indeed, Ana repeatedly reassured me that when the tables did become available that we would be " number 2" on the list, and that she would arrange a drop ship from the manufacture's warehouse to us to accelerate delivery. She kept us informed of her progress, and passed accurate information to us throughout this arduous process when it became available --even when that information was not what we wanted to hear at the time. About a week ago, I received an email from an exuberant Ana advising that our table was going to ship that day. She provided the name and contact info for the carrier as well as our shipping number for tracking. She then followed up to make sure that the carrier had scheduled a delivery date. I'm delighted to report that our table was finally delivered today, October 22. This process has not been easy--for anyone. But Ana snd her colleagues at AMS Fireplace were terrific. They kept us informed, they were truthful in reporting progress, and answered all of our questions so we could fully understand why our table was delayed--which made the delay MUCH easier to tolerate. It's easy to provide good customer service when the going is good. But to keep your customer happy in a situation like mine--that's a real challenge. Ana and her colleagues rose to meet that challenge time and time again throughout this process, and I plan to purchase all of our outdoor furniture through AMS in the future. read more

I would not trust AMS for any fireplace work. I was willing to pay thus requested a quote to replace the fireplace cap, AMS installed with the complete fireplace from hearth to cap. The cap was modern style (pictures included) with louver vents. looked very nice. But from day one the fireplace would fill the living room with smoke. I explained the situation to AMS and AMS told me the fireplace needed to be cleaned. I said sure, could be the issue if it wasn't new and as reference the previous fireplace never had the smoky living room issue. Plus, I told them I just want a quote and will pay for the replacement. They where so adamant the existing cap was not the issue that they ran me around for a couple of months. Not willing to quote me a replacement, because their experts cant be wrong they told me. But, no one from AMS ever came out to investigate in person. they just kept giving me excuses, open your windows, something wrong with the pressure in the house, occluded and needs to be cleaned. I never heard so many excuses to not take on business. I was guessing the work would be about $2000 but they did not want to acknowledge they could have made a mistake. I ended up contracting a different company and found out AMS cut corners on so much of the installation that I was risking burning up my house each time I used the fireplace. The findings were as follows. 1.) the AMS cap was intended for gas burning fireplace not wood burning (the fireplace is wood burning), 2.) the louver openings were less that 1/4 inch (against code), 3.) the louvers were occluded, 4.) the chimney cap was installed with little ventilation/fire risk, 4.) the chimney was clean (AMS stated it was caked), 5.) house ventilation and air flow is fine. Quick response time to set up appt. Window for the appt was 9-1 and Sean called in advance to let me know he would arrive at 10:05 and he was right on time. He assessed the problem and explained what he was going to try first, replacing the "igniter" (if I recall correctly). He solved the problem within 10 minutes. Instead of taking off after that Sean dusted my fireplace, cleaned the glass doors, painted the chipped frame and removed the dust collector of a screen that I did not need. Ordered a charcoal bbq from AMS Fireplace on Amazon August 25 supposedly they had 3 in stock. Got notice it was out for delivery Friday September 2 by 8pm but nothing got delivered Friday so I emailed AMS to find out if it was out for delivery or did something happen because this built in grill is now holding up my project. I received a ups package tracking number from AMS stating that it was now getting delivered on Thursday September 8. The package that got delivered Thursday was a 8x10 bubble wrap envelope that had a single piece of paper (see below) stating that the tracking number was not for the grill but for the letter that says the grill was unavailable and someone from AMS should have been in touch with me to go over alternative products and if not call to talk to someone. I called on September 8 because they had charged my credit card the full amount for a product that in their words was unavailable. September 11and still no word from AMS. So I have to spend the afternoon on the phone with Amazon, my CC company to dispute the charges on my card. They took money knowing they didn't have any stock then absolutely no effort to communicate. I still haven't received a phone call. BEWARE!!! They will try to bill you twice for the same service and then threaten to place a lien on your home. This review is for extremely poor customer service experience during the billing process with Kammie Reimer. We purchased a custom fireplace door from AMS in March 2021, at which time we paid a 50% down payment. On completion of the job in May 2021, I gave authorization to bill the remaining 50% to the credit card on file. Over 6 months later (late December 2021) I receive threatening calls and emails stating that we have not paid the invoices. Upon further investigation, it was uncovered that this was due to a "glitch" or billing error and that the company did not have any record of my payments. Kammie threatened to place a lien on my home if we did not pay the full 100% amount within 7 days. I asked to speak with the manager (she replied she was the manager) and then the owner about the threatening nature of her emails and phone calls. She replied that the owner had authorized the emails sent and that payment is outstanding. I am very appalled by the manner in which this company conducts their billing and accounting, as well as their lack of customer service. They are extremely disorganized financially and will ultimately blame and threaten the consumer for fault, when clearly there are internal financial issues within AMS. read more
