"Turkey & Provolone" sandwich with single jalapeño, missing all other toppings (mayo in photo added at home).
Sarah M.

This place sucks. It was my first time trying Firehouse and I'll never be back. My friend and I ordered 2 medium sandwiches online and stopped to pick them up. First of all, it is oppressively hot today and it was hot and muggy inside the restaurant. I felt so bad for the employees working. There were only 2 groups dining in and everyone looked miserable with sweat on their faces. It took a little while for our food to be ready, but the girl who gave it to me was very nice. Imagine my surprise, when upon returning home (about 15 min away, so no way was I going to drive back), our sandwiches had nothing on them. It was as if the person manning the toppings station looked at the sandwiches and said, "Naahh." I ordered a turkey sandwich that was supposed to come with provolone, mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, jalapeno peppers, onion, green peppers, oil & vinegar, Italian seasoning, and salt & pepper. I got a couple of clumps of turkey and cheese melted together, 3 slices of banana pepper, and 2 slices of jalapeños. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? It was disgusting and so irritating. I had to basically make my sandwich at home (the mayo on the bread in the picture was added by me at home). For $17?! Get a life. Never again. Firehouse, fix your AC so your employees aren't so hot that they stand around like zombies instead of making sandwiches.

I've been to quite a few Firehouse Sub locations and they are all pretty consistent in quality as far as nice clean facilities, friendly staffed, and very good sub sandwiches. This location fits that description as well. This spot is nice because there's a lot of shopping and dining options in the area. There's lots of parking and the area still has a new look and feel to it. The interior is longer than it is wide. Ordering counter with the overhead menu board on your left and tables/chairs on your right. Drink station towards the back. They specialize is sandwiches, hot and cold, but also have salads. They have three sized sandwiches and if you order a small they will let you know it's only like 4 inches. But maybe sometimes that's all you want. The combo includes chips (your choice) and a drink. The drinks are all the same price no matter what size. I'm not sure why they do this, but hey, maybe you want a lot or maybe you want a little.

7.Firehouse Steak and Cheese Sub

Really friendly staff, quick turn around, pretty good sandwiches. The steak and cheese was very good... there was a flavor in the beef that made me think it was marinated? The additional flavor was a little distracting, but wasn't bad at all. The Italian had a pretty strong ham presence. We ordered everything as is, so please take that with a grain of salt. You should customize your sandwiches as you enjoy it most. We asked for all white, but it looked like some of our sandwiches came in wheat which was no problem for us. We actually like both and actually might make us switch to the wheat! I think these subs are actually a great value. You get quite a lot of meat for the price. There is also a Coke freestyle machine at this location so you can have any flavored soda you want! We'll definitely come back especially to this location.

Where are the veggies on my veggie sub???
Melissa W.

I've been to this location maybe a dozen times and never had a bad experience...until today. We placed an order on the app and decided to dine in with it and specifically put on my fiancé's sub "allergic to onions" after removing the caramelized onions under customization. I also ordered a veggie with no cheese for myself, two bags of chips, and two drinks. Pretty simple, right? Well, his sub had raw onions on it even though the reciept said "allergic to onions" and, for some reason when I explained this to an employee, there was STILL some confusion about whether on not there should be onions on it. Then I noticed that the chip selection was far greater than what was listed on the app (I guess not their fault, but I would have rather had something else rather than what I got.) And then I started eating and thought, "This tastes different," and realized there were no sautéed mushrooms...or tomatoes...or onions...or lettuce...or the Dijon sauce. All that was on my "veggie" sandwich was literally sauteed onions, green peppers, and mayo. And they gave me the pickle when I said "no pickle." I don't know if the people who were working today were just not with it today, having a bad day, or are all ready to quit; but seriously - what the hell? Three stars because I've had good experiences here in the past, but I would give today a zero if I could. Maybe you'll fare better.

Hook and Ladder Sub - medium sized

These sandwiches are such a delight! I was so pleasantly surprised (not that I was expecting it be bad) and now understand what my friends have been raving about. I ordered the Hook & Ladder with a side of macaroni & cheese. I can scarcely remember the mac because I basically inhaled it. Yes, I was hungry, but I think the fact it was soooo good is the reason I would take a bite, then go to put it down and think, no, just a little more, set it down, well maybe just one more...and repeat. It's those little bits of bread that get you! And/or maybe all of that cheese.. Bread on the sandwich - the best - fluffy, light, fresh, DELISH. Perfect turkey, ham and melty cheese - and when I ordered the girl asked if I wanted the sandwich fully involved -- the look on my face made it plain I was a first-timer - but after she explained it included "the works" with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and on and on I said "let's go for it." You won't be disappointed! Furthermore, if the allure of a tasty sub isn't enough to bring you in, know that a portion of your purchase is going toward a cause that provides lifesaving equipment to first responders. Now there is a guarantee you will enjoy your meal.

Chocolate chip cookie

Oh boy - I struggled to write this review but here we go! I placed my order online and requested no Mayo on my sub. I get home and there is extra Mayo on my sub - ugh but okay. They send me a survey online about my experience and I told about the Mayo. In response they sent me a coupon for a free sub with chips and a drink. Awesome! So today I used the coupon and guess what - more Mayo!!! I had the exact same problem again. They don't seem to read the personalized instructions if you order online. On a positive note their chocolate chip cookies are life changing and I totally recommend!

The bread is what making the sandwiches here so good. I can be little picky with sandwiches. Trying to get that delicate balance that will allow me to enjoy the sandwich as a whole: the combination of fresh bread and everything inside it. At Firehouse Subs they make good sandwiches. And actually listen carefully to the clients requests so you will get very close to the sandwich you have in mind. Nice people work here. And really try to make sure you will get the best sandwich. The sides are little disappointing. So here the sandwich is the main thing.

Roast Beef Sub on wheat

This chain is based in my hometown of Jacksonville, FL and I used to eat there all the time before I moved up here a few years ago. I was excited to find a location here while doing some errands and this place does the chain proud. Service was friendly, the roast beef sandwich was tasty as ever with the medium size being plenty for lunch, and the iced tea is the real thing with cane sugar. One weird menu quirk here is they have lots of combos on the menu wall but they have single meat subs too, just ask them or look at the full printed menu. Try this place for lunch and you can't go wrong!

Club on a sub...soooo good!

I ate at the Mall location a bit more when one of my friends got a job there. The bacon cheeseburger was my absolute favorite. The taste was everything. I preferred Roy's food over McDonald's ANY DAY. I may have been extra influenced by my dad, who grew up on Roy Rogers comics and movies, so I grew a love for westerns. Even if the restaurant chain is relative to The King of Cowboys in name only, I love it just by the association. Time goes by, Hardee's buys Roy's and gradually my beloved chain began to disappear. I left for college and during my visits home would look for a Roy's but knew it would just be a memory. About 20 years later, I came home for another friend's wedding and nearly crashed into the car in front of me. I thought my eyes were playing tricks. I turned the car around, much to my wife's confusion, and told her we needed to stop. This review is more so a rave about the Roy Rogers restaurant than it is of this particular location, but I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL that it's here. With each visit home (I live in Florida now), I make it a point to grab a bite here. The food is just as tasty as I remember, but the experience of it all is what keeps me coming back. I love Roy's.

Our bank showed that the transaction went through, but the owner insisted that he had not received the payment. He asked us to run the card again, suggesting that if we were charged twice, perhaps our bank would credit one of the charges. We called our bank, and the bank confirmed that we had already been charged and told us they could not simply reverse the transaction. At that point, we decided not to take our food and to leave. Because the owner was claiming he hadn't received our payment, I specifically asked him to simply write on a piece of paper that we were leaving without receiving our order. I wanted documentation showing that we had not received any food in case we needed to dispute the charge. He refused to put that in writing. He repeatedly told us that this had never happened in his 20 years in business, even though this restaurant is under new ownership. When we continued trying to resolve it, he told us it wasn't his problem, told us to call the police, and refused to work with us. We ultimately disputed the charge with our bank because we were charged approximately $30 and received no food. What makes this situation even more upsetting is that, according to the information we subsequently received through our dispute, the merchant responded by claiming that we DID receive the food. We did not.

We ordered ONE for all of us to try--and we probably should have known we were in trouble when I had to sign a waiver for each of us! Let me tell you...that Reaper was some kind of HOT! It definitely gave us a memory and a few laughs! Thankfully, we also ordered our regular meals medium and mild, and the food was really good! The chicken was flavorful, everything tasted fresh, and the kids especially loved their milkshakes. Great food, great service, and a fun first experience. Additionally when I picked up our order the counter person mentioned their name in case I needed anything further. Clearly a big focus on customer service here! Our chicken was hot and fresh. No spice is literally no spice but did not taste unseasoned at all. Mild spice was actually a bit spicy. The servings were well sized and included pickles that were pretty tasty and one dipping sauce. I think extra sauce is available for a small fee. Overall we would return when we have a hot chicken craving.

We always order way too many tacos but never regret it because then we have a meal for later we cannot wait to eat again. The coco loco shrimp taco was to die for I wish we had gotten more of them. The pastor (pork and pineapple) taco is a safe bet that I always have to order. The taco with the Chicharrones I've never seen was rly unique and the right amount of crunch and flavor. I really have to shout out the garlic wings!! I don't know if they have these at every location, but you absolutely must get them if you're at the Springfield location. I guess you can consider us regulars (and funny enough, we've spot other regulars here, too). First of all, they have ample parking spaces, including a little cul-de-sac parking lot with 2 handicapped spaces right up to the door. They have 2 drive-thru lanes, which they've now specified one lane for mobile orders (on the right) and the other lane for their regular drive-thru (on the left lane). Sometimes lines can get backed up during peak hours, but they tend to flow at an even pace. Food has been consistet in terms of taste and quality. Hot food is hot and cold food is cold. We've had their breakfast and lunch/dinner items and we have enjoyed our meals each time. For their hot beverage (i.e. coffee), I think it's pretty good esp. with their French vanilla creamer. My staple breakfast item is their Chicken, Egg & Cheese Muffin with their hash brown. My staple lunch/dinner item is their 4 piece Chicken Tenders with their Waffle Fries and a side of their Strawberry Milkshake. Every now and then I will get their Deluxe Chicken Sandwich or their Cobb Salad. Everything is delicious! Service has been outstanding, at least during the times we've been here. They are attentive, respectful, courteous, friendly, and hardworking. If they are not working the kitchen, they are outside taking orders (during peak hours), or cleaning tables/floors/restrooms. One of the ladies that usually works the floor will come by and ask us if we need anything and will offer to refill our beverages. Now that's service! Granted, it doesn't happen every single time, but we appreciate the offer, compared to other places. Another perk this place offers is Kid's Night every other Monday night (6-7:30pm). They have an Instagram account where you can get updates to those specific dates and activities. While you eat your meal, your kiddos can work on whatever crafts they have that day. Then the kiddos can enjoy FREE ice cream with their choice of toppings! Sometimes you might get to greet their Cow mascot! Honestly, it's a great treat for the whole family.
