The food is good like always but this store can't get an order right! I have ordered from this store twice since I have been in town and they have messed up the sandwich both times. I order the Engineer. The first time all of the mushrooms were on only one half of it and the bacon I ordered (for an added fee) was not on the sandwich. The second time I ordered I added (for a fee) extra mushrooms and bacon. Once again NO bacon and it was a normal amount of mushrooms spread on the whole sandwich. The food even came with a sticker stating (this sandwich double checked for accuracy) well I guess the whole store is blind! Like most chains, when you've eaten at one, you've probably (hopefully) know exactly how it will taste when you eat at that chain anywhere else. This is no exception. They do make regular subs to order, but they seem to have moved to really pushing their huge meat subs, which can be enticing until you're about 80% through with them. At that time you start to wonder, "What have I done?" So just be careful because you can end up with 3-4 cheeseburgers worth of stuff in a large sub. Some of the subs are horrifying, but they are kind of nice to fight a hangover. The brisket sub was limited-time only in Texas but I think solely because I bought it enough, now it's available everywhere forever. It's just a lot of brisket, cheese, and hell why not mayonnaise! (of course you can modify it as you want). So it seems much more unhealthy than any other sub sandwich shop, but sometimes it's what you want. Came in here after the Duke basketball game with my family. I was instantly greeted by staff, the environment was so nice. Walked in and smelled the fresh subs being cooked. Delicious Italian sub is expected at any Firehouse Subs. The bread is sweet and buttery tasting. The cheese is creamy and the Italian seasoning is excellent. I took my aunt here sense it was conveniently located by Duke Hospital and we're expecting a FS in our area this summer. She enjoyed the steak and cheese. She said is wasn't too hard for her to chew. It arrived at the table steaming hot. The staff is helpful and one of the staff members was really friendly. We felt very welcomed. Flat screen tv at the front to watch sports/news. Wanted to grab a quick dinner to go and thought I would check this place out. It wasn't very busy at all so I only had to wait a few minutes after placing my order. I didn't have time to really peruse the menu so I ordered the first thing I saw that looked appealing, which was the firehouse meatball sub. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box to see that it actually resembled the picture with a solid layer of parm over the meatballs. Always a great sandwich from this location. Lots of meat and as much veggies as you can fit, if you want them. Cheesesteak is good as is the Club, but try swapping the ham for pastrami as the ham is very sweet. They have banana peppers and olive on request and mushrooms for a small fee. Fresh food and clean location. Parking is a nightmare but worth it for a big sandwich for a reasonable price. read more

Compared to other restaurants in the vicinity, I think they're one of the fastest places to grab something and go. However, they don't compromise the quality of the sub for that speed. I would prefer this place any day over quiznos and certainly over subway. I ate a turkey sub. Delivered exactly as ordered but much tastier than I expected. It didn't taste like it was thrown into a microwave and the small size made me feel stuffed enough to be satisfied with just the sub... and the pickle on the side. Although it was 15mins until closing there were still people dining inside and several others that came in after me. Firehouse is slowly winning me over my Publix subs back in Fl obsession. Love their under 500 calorie options which are satisfying for lunch and delicious. Cap'n Sorenson (or something like that-the grilled chicken one) is yummy and their house sauce is really good. Had the hook and ladder lite and the turkey with salsa Verde and enjoyed these as well. I ordered over the phone to pick up when I got there and searched for parking - after driving in circles for about 10 minutes I called inside and the young woman who answered the phone brought my food out to me so I didn't have to keep looking for a spot. Sub is okay, but service in this store is very poor. Have visited it 6 times this summer. For one time they completely forgot my dine-in order until I reminded them after 20 mins. Another time they began to prepare for my online order only after I went to store for pick-up.
