Positives: staff member that took my order was very friendly. Cons: there were only maybe 3 to 4 types of chips, including Cheetos, sun chips and two different type of Doritos. There were no plain chips nor any kettle cooked chips. The racks were practically empty. I stated that I wanted a bag of salt and vinegar chips when I placed my order and paid. Unfortunately, after paying, I go to grab my bag of chips and realized that there were none available of my preference. I was offered a cookie or brownie instead. That was an inconvenience. I also wanted oil and vinegar on my sub, but was told that they only had oil and no vinegar. Next, it took 15 minutes to get a small sub made, and there was only one other customer in the restaurant who actually placed his order after me. I'm truly unsure what took 15 minutes to make a small tuna sub when there was no one in the restaurant before me and the other customer walked in at the same time. When I got home and opened my container, I was very disappointed at how burnt the bread was, and how minuscule the amount of tuna was. If you look at the photos, there's more bread than anything. There was one tomato a little bit of shredded lettuce, and literally a bite or so of tuna. I have to be honest, I probably will not return to this location. There are too many problems with this location. Today 3 groups of people totaling 5 customers came to order but the two staff members didn't have the access code to the register. I'm not sure why there are staff in the location who are unable to ring up customers. I want to say this is the only complaint I have with this location but there are times when they have became cash only half way through the day, ran out of vegetables so unable to make veggie sandwiches. This location needs to do BETTER or I'm going to find somewhere else to order my sandwiches from. read more

I agree with the other reviews. The service by the employees was bland. It lacked enthusiasm. It just felt like "we're here, just to be here." The inside just had the lock of being "sticky." Meaning if I sat down at a table, it be besr that I'd wipe down my area myself. No issue complaints on my sandwich. It is what I always get and was excellent! read more

I ride by this location almost daily and they're never really busy. Probably usually online orders. There's no enthusiasm or any type of energy with the whole staff of 4 people including manager on duty today. Upon ordering, female cashier was hunched over register and had a coworker immediately take my order because I had a coupon on my phone. He was puzzled about finalizing my order for a free sub and called for the manager. Manager not much older than he came out to simply pushed a button like this is all you do. Then she went in the back and I'm looking like "Ok..who's making the sub...". Manager comes back out and makes the sub. Guy goes on break near register and other coworker clocks in for the day. One employee, cursed the whole time I was there as if he couldn't form a sentence without such words. My sub met my standards and expectation. Let me just start by saying Firehouse Subs is my favorite sub station. I either order a turkey sub or engine company sub which is my absolute favorite. This time my sub was waaayyyy too salty. I usually ask that they add a lil salt and pepper to my sub, but that's all I could taste. I could not enjoy the sub and the salt overpowered all of the other flavors of the sub. Found this Firehouse Subs restaurant relatively close to my mom's house, being a recognized franchise had to try it out. Place has the tipical firehouse decor with lots of red & black. Try as I might , the food quantity and quality falls significantly short of competing sub shops like Jersey Mike's and Lenny's. The sandwiches fall short of meat and toppings reflective of photos around the dining room. Disappointing and unfulfilling unless you get a large, and then you are likely filled by bread and chips. Well, I eat at these often as I can and they always come through on the subs. But this one killed me! I got the steak and cheese and I literally had to take both halves to make one half. I've lived in the area for 2.5 years and have never eaten here. It's because I went to a Firehouse in the mall once and didn't really care for their subs. I wasn't impressed. The other day I saw that one of my Yelp friends had checked-in and I read her review, I thought I'd give them another shot. I am so glad that I did! If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would. The entire experience was awful. I ordered online with specific details including NO MAYO and specific vegetables. I also ordered a bag of chips and a bottled soda ($3.50 for a 20 oz. drink!!!). I waited for quite a while for confirmation that the food was ready, but after 20 minutes, I went ahead to the restaurant anyways. When I arrived, there was no beverage. The counter staff said that they don't even have that beverage but that I could get a fountain drink instead in a different flavor. The manager finally offered to refund the drink. Unfortunately, I checked the receipt on the bag but did not investigate what was inside. When I got home to open the bag, there were no chips. Even worse, the sandwich was covered in mayo. I tried to pick up the sandwich to see if I could save any of it, and it started falling apart. The vegetables were incorrect, and there was nothing on the sandwich that was free from the mayo. Had lunch here today. Good place, I like the concept and how it was started by two brother firefighters. This place can get crowded during lunchtime [in a good way] their sandwiches have people coming back and their service is quick and efficient. This used to be my go-to place for sandwiches because it's my son's favorite place to eat. In the last few years I've seen it go from fast, clean, efficient, with a friendly staff, to slow, dirty, incompetent, with incredibly rude employees. Our orders kept getting messed up, looking sloppy (like the sandwiches were just thrown together), they always forgot the pickles, they always put lettuce on my son's sandwich (even though I always said no lettuce), but I never complained, I always came back with a smile on my face because my son loved this place. Then I had two experiences in a row that soured me for good. First, after we had that big snow this year, I knew a few businesses weren't open or were closing early so I called and I said "Oh great! You're open!" and the woman that answered the phone said "I answered the phone, didn't I?" Now, I have a temper, so I'm trying to quell it for my son's sake so I just asked her if they are open regular hours and she said yes. I tried unsuccessfully a couple of hours later both on the app and online to place an order and finally just decided to drive over there only to find the place closed. It was really early, still light out, maybe 6 pm. So I'm mad. Anyway, the next day, I try again. Same thing, only this time, no one will answer the phone all day. Finally someone answers the phone and they say they are open. I'm still unable to place an online order or an app order, so I drive over. I get there, and the woman behind the counter says "Exact change only!" Like actually shouts it at me! I am confused. I ask her what she means? She says her internet "broke" and they can take exact cash change only. I asked her why can't you make change if you can get into the cash register? She just said exact change only. I was so angry I knew that was the last time I'd ever set foot in that place. Also, it was FILTHY. Oh, the best part is that I complained to corporate, I got a response from a local regional manager saying he was so sorry and he'd send me coupons for sandwiches if I'd try them again at a different store. After quite a while, I realized I never got anything from him so I had to email him again to remind him. Then I finally get an envelope with coupons, nothing else. Such awesome customer service. Anyway, I did try the Firehouse at Northlake Mall and it's like night and day. That is a really nice one and I've had nothing but great experiences there. I came here after work to get my usual large firehouse steak and cheese sub. Normally whenever I come here it is after 5pm but I got off early today and there is a male manager here today. When the cashier put my discount into the computer after I showed her my ID card, he leans over the counter asked me where I work and then tells me that he can't give me the discount. I explained to him that I come here three or four times a week and he has never been a problem. So then he tells the cashier to ring everything up regular price. So I told him no thank you. It is a principle thing for me. Every other time that I have come here and it has never been an issue because I have my valid Department of Public Safety ID card. The food is great here at Firehouse but if your staff are not going to consistently enforce your policies, it creates a headache for your customers. Especially the regular ones. I adore Firehouse Subs and i am definitely a frequent visitor! I use my rewards points to get extras such as free drinks and chips and desserts! I normally get the Hook and Ladder fully loaded on wheat and the medium size is just enough for me! They have a great assortment of chips to choose from and the representatives are always very friendly and they greet you as soon as you walk through the door! Its always really smoky and sometimes that burns my eyes but the results of the sub are well worth it! Okay, we are normal day to day folks living on a budget. My multi million dollar trust fund ran dry a few years ago due to my addiction to Pez. That's the back story. Last night my wife worked late and we decided to grab a fairly cheap dinner of sammich's from FIrehouse. Well BAD NEWS cowboys and cowgirls, it ain't cheap! Holy Schmoley! We travel in a pack of 4. Our kids are just getting to the point where if they like what they are eating, they hit the adult size portions, so we are getting used to slightly higher tabs when we eat out, but after 4 subs (3-12 inch subs and 1-8 inch sub) with chips and drinks, we were over $40 in the red! That's just too much for sandwiches. The food is fine. Fairly tasty hot subs, tons of hot sauces and the nifty "Make your own Coke" machine is certainly fun for the kiddo's, but in the end we will NOT be swinging in to slide down the fire pole again. Firehouse is a great sub shop. The manager in there is awesome too. She's so friendly. I had not tried Firehouse until this year and I always go to this one. It is the best in Charlotte. My girlfriend and I came here last Friday to grab a couple of sandwiches, however we had the worst experience ever. To start the cashier, who's name will be stated in an edit once I get home, decided to be condescending and rude to my girlfriend. She could not find the list of all the additional toppings so the cashier thought it was fine to treat her like a child. As I began to order the cashier decided to speak to me as if I were a child, we decided to get our food to go. As we waited for our sandwiches the cashier and about three other employees thought it was hilarious the way the cashier was so rude and spoke openly about it in front of us, accompanied by laughter. After leaving we called the corporate customer service number. The representative assured us that she would contact the district manager, and the store owner; however, we have yet to be contacted by either one.
