The food is good, staff has been nice and helpful every time I come. Even got to donate a little to local fire stations (who BTW saved my tail when my car cut out in summer heat- APD Fire - they were fantastic! I hadn't even called them~ they were just going back to their station and saw me.) The bread is soft the sandwich is not dry even though I took both mayo and mustard off. Variety of baked chips (along w regular). Reasonable price. Cool coke machine where u can make it flavored- Medium sand was very filling. read more

They're very big on the fact that, at Firehouse Subs, you're eating in a firehouse-inspired sub shop. And it's a metaphor they carry straight through to the end, from the cleverly-named sammiches to the roughly seventy five or thereabouts brands of hot sauces (fires to put out, perhaps?), to the Dalmatian-inspired tabletops that permeate the place. It's a cute setup, not at all pretentious, and they seem bent on creating an ambiance that feels at once worn...accessible (hence the fireman's garb, hanging, seemingly at a moment's notice), and the fact that things seem to be clanging about in there pretty much constantly. It's fun, and not too crazy to sort...and worth another shot, if only to sort out what I missed the first time about. read more

Firehouse always does a great job with their food (the club has been my go-to for years), so it's really the staff that makes or misses the mark when eating Firehouse. This location excels in that arena for sure, especially the owner/franchisee. I have had the opportunity to speak with her on multiple occasions and her positivity shines each time. Ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch size medium and it was really big! Very cheesy and a lot of sauce (which I love). I was only able to eat half the sandwich. It was very busy when I was there because it was noon. The staff weren't particularly friendly but not below average or anything. I would say I waited about 10 minutes for the sandwich to be done. They no longer have hot sauces to put on your sandwich, might as well change their name to Icehouse Subs. I asked if they had any hot sauces for sale like they used to sell also, nope. They only have one option and that is a ketchup based sauce. Covid or not, I can see why they do not leave the sauces out for people to pour but have some for sale or let your employees pour the hot sauces like they do with the ketchup. read more

We paid 40 bucks/$7.25 each for 4 small sandwiches that ended up being almost 3 inch pieces of bread and a little bit of meat with some small bits of cheese on it. This place is far too overpriced and I will never eat there again. Ridiculous. The box the sandwich came in weighed more than the sandwich itself. The small sandwiches are a complete rip off. I just ordered my first firehouse sub I got it through DoorDash delivery service. I can't believe how awesome this services is I get the food I want delivered to my door. Ordered the Italian on white when it got here it was still nice and warm greatest sandwich I've ever had. I would recommend firehouse subs to anybody I ate it so fast I forgot to take pictures of it... and if you haven't tried DoorDash Delivery service I recommend it it makes fast food fast and easy I love those guys. I stopped in here on my lunch break one evening. I've had Firehouse before but not in a long time. I ordered the meatball sub. The staff working was so friendly and nice. They were curious about me as they saw my work badge. All the employees seemed like fun people to work with. The food here is decent. I really like the meatball sub and how it's seasoned and the cheese is consistently melted well across the top. The prices are OK. I think the regular is plenty of food. This is just about the way I'd expect a sub shop started by firemen to turn out. Perfectly serviceable subs. Nothing fancy. Not many choices. Kind of no-nonsense and straightforward, with a little side of cheese (of the non-dairy sort; read: dalmation print table tops). The interior felt very clean and new. I tried the Firehouse Steak & Cheese. I asked for it with "everything," which the guy behind the counter interpreted as meaning just steak, cheese, and bread (unfortunately, I got it to go, so I didn't realize this until it was too late). It was fine, although I wasn't particularly fond of the wheat roll it was on - it was sort of mushy. One exception to the "no-frills" nature of the place is the HUGE selection of hot sauces lined up on the counter. Very cool! Despite buying four subs, four bottles of soda, three cookies, and three bags of chips, the guy behind the counter really, really did not want to give me a big bag ("we try to save those for REALLY big orders"). So I ended up carrying the stuff in two smaller bags. I guess firemen are very frugal, too. Firehouse Subs just didn't light my fire. So I got the hook and ladder because they have been spamming it on the radio constantly. I got the large and it was huge. The sandwich itself was nothing special it was bad seemed a bit more moist than I like my sandwich. I tried several of the hot sauces on my sandwich and I can honestly say that I'm not sure hot sauce and sandwiches go together very wall. I tried the special house hot sauce and it was pretty good with the sandwich but a little sweet for my tastes. I cant say I'm dying to go back here the food was nothing special. The cherry lime aid was pretty good definitely better than the sandwich. Skip this one and get some Schlotskys its way better. read more

I've been waiting a few of weeks for this place to open, since being handed a few free sandwich coupons at a local event. It's located on the south side of William Canon, west of Mopac, sort of in between the 24 Hour Fitness and Costco. So I guess today was their grand opening, and I was hit with about 5 "Welcome to Firehouse!!"s when I stumbled in. Friendly people. It's a pretty simple menu, although lacking a bit in creativity. Basically different variations of meat on bread, with one veggie offering. So I ordered a veggie for the wife and a Hook and Ladder (turkey and ham with monterey jack), on wheat, for myself. It looked pretty tasty in the picture. However, as I write this, I'm trying to remember if there was, in fact, any monterey jack on the sandwich, and I really can't say for sure. I'm going to go with probably. The taste was good, but I was a little disappointed by the bread...for me, a perfect sandwich is toasted and comes out of the oven a little crispy on the outside. My wheat roll had no crispiness to it. Maybe white would have been a better choice, so I'll have to give that a try next time. The ham and turkey were both fresh and tasty. The Veggie was your basic sandwich vegetables - tomatoes and lettuce, with sauteed onions, mushrooms and peppers (not a whole lot), and monterey jack and American cheese. I'm guessing it was a mistake, but they also put raw onions on...kind of weird, considering it had sauteed onions already. Wifey no likey. The place is clean (it's brand new), and has the whole firehouse theme going...which I like, because Pops was a fireman...and has a couple of flat screen TVs, which is a nice distraction while you wait. And speaking of waiting, it took a bit longer than I expected, considering the bread did not seem toasted. I have nooooo problem with waiting for a well-toasted sub, but mine could not be considered as such. Being their first day in business, I expect them to still be working things out, and figure they'll get better. So I'll be back (hey, I've got two more coupons!) to try some other meat and bread combinations, and see if they can get another star out of me. Update 12/30/07: I stopped by yesterday and had an Italian sub....the flavors were great - I really enjoyed the taste. However, the bread still isn't doing it for me...if they could get it right - get the outside a little crispy, and overall a little less doughy - they could have themselves a 4.5 - 5 star sanny. I have tried both wheat and white now. I still recommend the place....I'm calling it 3.5 stars....next time I'll ask if they can toast it a little better, and see what happens. Update 2/15/08: Ate another Italian sub today. Enjoyed it again, and wifey liked her hook & ladder sub, but again, a little disappointed in the bread. Proportions and taste are pretty good, though. What is with all of the subway sandwich chains proliferating lately? Firehouse Subs has super fresh bread and toast their sandwiches. Other than that, not much to recommend other than the fact that it was started by real live firemen. (And that makes it a good place to eat because...?). Can't say I see much difference between this & Quizno's, Subway, Which Which, et. al. There's also not much variety. Turkey with this, turkey with that, turkey 6 different ways, plus tuna. So you turkey lovers, rejoice! You have found Mecca. All others...well, there are the aforementioned alternatives. Also, they lost me at the dalmation-topped tables. I don't want to eat off a dog, do you? The pattern might've worked in low doses elsewhere...dalmation table tops aren't very appetizing and make me feel like I'm in some kind of kindergarten class. We went to Firehouse Subs ("Founded by Firemen") today for the first time today on our way back from a trip to the nursery where we'd bought a boatload of plants (that's for another review...). Anyway, we drove by Panera, and it was PACKED, and we were hungry, so we opted for Firehouse, which wasn't crowded at all (it's in sort of a weird location). The sandwich offerings are nothing ground-breaking (although they did choose to give one of their sandwiches the unfortunate name of "New York Steamer,"...and I don't know about you, but I've always used the term "steamer" to describe something far less appetizing), but they are well-prepared and the bread is quite good. Also, they have an entire counter full of different bottles of hot sauce (get it? Firehouse? So there's hot stuff in there? Stuff that burns?) to add to your sandwich experience. Normally this overall experience would've merited only 3 stars, however I added an extra star because it was very, very clean (including the bathrooms), and the staff were quite an enthusiastic bunch--saying a rousing "Welcome to Firehouse!" whenever customers entered the store. I mean it was sort of annoying, but I think they were doing it to break up the monotony and crack each other up. --UPDATE-- Dang, y'all!! I forgot the BEST part of Firehouse: the ice!! I was impressed by their bread. It had a consistency like it was fresh baked with care - something that Quiznos and Subway can't match. I had a pretty boring sandwich - turkey no mayo w/all veggies. It was very good. For the size, I was also impressed in how nutritious it was for you. 370 cal, 4g fat for the medium size. Impressive for the amount of food and it tasted very good. My wife got the meatball and raved about it. It did indeed look very good. Also - they steam all their meats and cheeses. This gives them a cooked flavor that I enjoy. My pregnant wife also mentioned it was good for pregnant women as they're not supposed to eat deli meat because of how it sits at not a cold enough temperature - but that steaming it would potentially kill anything harmful. Good to know! My only gripe is the confusing menu. They have a lot of cutesy terms and stuff on the main board. The menu with the "normal" sandwiches is by the register. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful when ordering, the food was fine/OK, the place was clean albeit a bit tacky and I may or may not go back again. I don't know if this was mentioned, but the layout of the store is a little off. I don't know what they do when there are big lines...but it's not really clear where to stand when you are done ordering and "taking out" ~ there just isn't a whole lot of room at the register. I had my first Firehouse Sub last night and I am still thinking about it this morning. Mmmmmmm... The employees are very "friendly", meaning loud and welcoming when you walk in. Not my cup of tea really, but hey. I don't know if this is because they are brand new and trying to up the welcome or what. Of course we got the requisite "First time to try Firehouse subs?" line and then we were explained some of the menu and how they do their sandwiches here: the bread is toasted and the meat is steamed. Interesting. I had the Steamer (?) which is basically just meat (pastrami and corned beef) and cheese and dressings: mustard, mayo and italian dressing (weird, but tasty!) on a roll. Having such a meat-centric sandwich is unusual for me -- I usually prefer to pile on the veggies, but for some reason, it called to me. And I was not disappointed! The sandwich was definitely warm and the meat was juicy. The hubby had their "signature" ham and turkey and cheese sandwich which he enjoyed as well. Two thumbs up for the sandwiches! Didn't so much care for the interior -- it is VERY bright and it is a pretty large dining area for a sandwich shop. There's a firemen theme going on but it found it a bit contrived and forced (but really, how do you make piles of fireman stuff seem natural in a sandwich shop?). There is a very interesting mural on the wall with a very strange cat-dog animal. Check it out while you are waiting for your sandwich. Which did take a while. Is it because they are new or because it takes a while to steam and toast? I was wondering how Firehouse would fit into the sandwich market -- there are no doubt a plethora of sandwich shops in this area. I can definitely say the sandwich I had was different and it may not be my first choice for a sandwich all the time, but I will be back again for sure. UPDATE 4/8: Firehouse Subs has become one of my favorite sandwich shops...their meat is thin and juicy - i love it! Dear Firehouse Subs, I'm disappointed. I've only been here 2-3 times before in the last couple years, so I don't expect much. But when the hubs wanted me to pick up some sandwiches on my way home, we thought Firehouse. The service was ok, if not stilted and awkward. I got my order and left for home. On arrival, I found my sandwich had all sorts of stuff I hate on it, that I couldn't scrape off. I was not happy. Yes, I should have checked my sandwich before I left the place, but still. So as my husband sat down to eat his sub and watch a movie, I got back in the car and wasted more time at Firehouse. I was told the usual sorry and we'll remake it routine. The girl told me it was training night, and I wondered where she had been earlier while the trainees were apparently on their own. So in conclusion, probably won't be back. read more

On my way home from work yesterday I see Human Signs advertising Firehouse Subs - as in people dressed in Fireman gear waving their hands in the air with signs. I was starving at 6PM having had no lunch. I was craving a leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich but I had no bread at home... So these human signs were a sign from the Food Gods.. I swerved into the parking lot - found Firehouse and ordered a Smoked Turkey Breast Sub w/ Sauteed Mushrooms and Provolone (instead of Swiss cheese) lettuce, tomato and onion. The bread was toasty on the outside and soft on the inside and the cheese was melted and the veggies crisp just the way I like my sandwich!! I went here due to a ton of advertising and good word of mouth. When I walked in I was overly skeptical, mostly due to the staff. All of them were young and all I kept thinking were the horrors that are Subway, but I decided to stick with it. I am actually very happy I did. I got the Turkey, Ham, and Roast Beef and the lady picked up the Brisket and Cheddar. First off the service was surprisingly good and very friendly. The portions are huge, I guess that is from feeding fire fighters. I have not been able to get over how good the bread was. It is the perfect combination of Chewy and Crunchy. It set the tone for the entire sandwich. The toppings are bountiful and the veggies were fresh. The brisket and cheddar stole the show though, if all of the sandwiches are as good as this then this place will do well. I loved the variety of sauces along the bar to kick it up a notch. Also, if you ever need a bucket they have a charity that helps firefighters if you buy a pickle bucket for $2. I have to say the first trip was good, I will definitely come back again. read more

They're Goooooooood! Sounds better when it's "Great" and Tony the Tiger says it, but that's what this place is...good. It was clean, (empty, but clean) and the staff was friendly. I had a hook and ladder sub and it' earns an "ok" rating...I appreciated it at the time because I was starving, but in retrospect it could've been a little better. The meat was good, but everything else was just mediocre....they say there was cheese on there somewhere...I'm a little skeptical though. So, in summary...will I go back? Probably. I always get the same thing from here and I've been several times to the Sugar Land location and today was the first time at the Austin location. Service was great - attentive and friendly. I've heard good things about this place. I really can't imagine any sandwich place being that awesome but hey, I'll at least give it a try. I had the meatball sub served piping hot and it will burn your tongue. It was good but nothing special or something that'd make salivate for it again. It was nice and cheesy and put together perfect. It didn't fall apart. My friend had the turkey club and she said it was bland and boring. Seems kind of pricey for a medium meal (drink & chips) at $7.99 for lunch. I do like how they have crushed ice. Other than that, I'd eat it again if someone else suggested it, but I'd probably suggest Thundercloud first. Had the Hero and loved it. It's very much a fast food sandwich place, not the deli style sandwiches that I love but for what it is it's well above average. My only issue was the option of only two types of bread, but beyond that I was only impressed and not disappointed. Looking for a quick sandwich and sick of subway? Welcome to Firehouse!! They used to say that every time you walked in, and they would never say it at the same time so it came out more like "Valdemort the Farmerclothes". They have since stopped saying it and I kind of miss it. Feel free to bring it back when you walk in. Anyway, the subs are tasty mainly because the meat they use is really flavorful. The veggies aren't really anything to write home about, but at least they're there. I usually get the engineer which apparently means mushrooms. I'm pretty sure there's a funny joke about us engineers being kept in the dark and fed sh@#!t all day, so maybe that's the correlation? The only reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars over 3 is because they have a huge selection of hot sauces that range from extremely hot (left side of counter) to not hot at all (right side of counter). The labels they put on the bottles to rate the hotness aren't exactly right in my book so be careful. Stay clear of anything named "Da Bomb" because it will destroy you, but everything else is fair game, so grab a couple of bottles and take em back to your table for some experimenting. Oh, and that cat-dog painting on the wall is freaky. Spend some time looking at that creepiness before you go and tell me you don't get nightmares. read more

I ordered food from them last night through Uber Eats and my wife and I both got food poisoning.

The owner's were at my Church's Candy Carnival during Halloween. I got a coupon for a free sub. Since I am the only one other than my oldest son who likes Subs, I figured I would check them out today during a time where I was working from home. When you get into the Costco Center, you can get a little lost. They have totally built that place up. It is amazing. The location is easy to find. It is in a corner of the building on the first floor. As soon as I walked in, I got three or four employees shouting out, "Welcome to Firehouse!" I get to the register and Jason, who I assume is the manager, is fumbling around the register like he has no clue what he is doing. I get behind one guy who is placing an order. A line starts to form behind me and he runs off for change. He tells me to just tell the people preparing the subs my order. I decide on the Hook and Ladder and order it. He comes back, takes my order, rings me up. Jason is not overtly friendly or professional. He just rings me up in a curt manner. I was told my order would be ready in 5 minutes. (That is strange, even Quiznos does not take 5 minutes and they bake your sandwich.) They called my name even though I never gave them the name. (They must of read it from the credit card. The sandwich was warm from the melted cheese. The smoked turkey was very tasty, with a hint of sweetness from the honey ham. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The cheese was melted. You get lettuce, tomato and onion. I think in some cases having those extra choices is a little much. It was the perfect blend of veggies and meat. The bread a hint of firmness but soft in the inside. It was not too hard like some bread can be. I had gotten a cookie as well. From the outside, the cookies looked like their oven was too high because the cookies were too dark but they were soft on the inside. I would have given this place more stars because the food was excellent. I understand they are still a new restaurant. You would think being open over a month they would have some of the kinks worked out. Jason needs to be a tad bit friendlier and lose his attitude. There was also a young kid drinking on the serving line. (This is a no no.) I will probably go back. I am hoping the next time I go back, the level of service will have improved. read more

We went there yesterday , the sandwiches were bland no taste and worst of all the workers where trying to make extra money for themselves by over charging us , we ordered small sandwiches which are over priced to begin with and the worker " you know who you are" charged us for medium sandwiches and didn't even bat an eye he thought he was going to get away with it , softer we ate we talked about how expensive it was and we started looking over the receipt but he kept looking over and saw the look on my face and decided not to keep the extra money and called a manager even before I Approached the counter and he had already helped 8 other people in between so I wonder how much extra money he made yesterday. Ok the kings hawaiian pork sandwich is back and it is a load! I was worried i was going to still be hungry but no way. Sandwich is creamy the pork us tender and love love the Hawaiian roll. Next time (and there will be a next time SOON) I will add some spicy bbq sauce to the pork and launch that big mofo into my belly! Go for the sandwich talk to the owner. She gets it. The food is so good, by far one of my top favorite sub places to eat at. Everyone is pretty friendly every time I come here. My food is always hot and fresh, try the Hook and Ladder on wheat. Depending on how busy they are, you usually don't have to wait a long time to get your meal. If you come during your lunch, you will have to wait a little bit but nothing over 10-15 minutes. read more
