Chill vibe, and you meet pretty great people here on karaoke nights. Manager Keith actually cares about the customers here. I've pretty much always had a wonderful time here. One of the best karaoke's in Rochester on Wednesday nights, & Saturday karoake is good too! If you like to sing on a stage and be supported by the audience, this is the place to be. This establishment is awful to say the least.... My husband and I went for a drinks and to see a drag show our friend was in but ended up leaving after half a beer. The bartender was hammered. When we asked to see a food menu we were told that the kitchen closed early. We had heard someone ask "Is this a gay bar ? " And the bartender responded while slurring her words "f!ck no ! Will never come to this place again! Took long to order a drink after trying to get the bartenders attention. One of the bartenders then took my drink as I turned ti talk to a friend and tossed it out. I asked where my drink was and the blonde bartender told me "you shouldn't leave your drink anywhere so it's your fault". I never left my seat. I came here to visit for thanksgiving weekend. 3.5 - 4 I'm a fan of Firehouse Saloon. If your looking for a more casual night out in Rochester this is a great place to chill with friends, play pool or darts and have a few drinks. 21+ only. This is not a trendy/classy/upscale kind of place. Very much a dive bar/relaxed type of scene. The thing I like most about this place is that they always have something going on. Whether it's a local band, open mic, comedy or karaoke, I've always had a good time at Firehouse Saloon. I've never had the food here, so I can't say anything about that. I went to the Smokehouse Saloon last night for the first time to see a burlesque show. Before the show started, we enjoyed a free game of ping pong (very fun!) and a drink. They had a good variety of flavored liquors and beers. In the midst of reading all the bathroom stall wisdom, I learned they have live music every Thurs-Sun and free darts and pool all day every Sunday. As others have said, it is a bit divey but probably a good place to start your night off before moving on. Though don't mistake dive to equal cheap drinks as one would expect. The prices are the same. It's just more casual and there may be more creepers there to hit on you. But hey, maybe then you can score a free drink! Up to you. Because of the show, the bar had a pretty large crowd. I don't know if it's always like that. The VIP Guests ($20 vs $8) were treated to tables right up front with a free bottle of champagne and cupcakes. Note that the rest of the area is standing room only. No chairs. And it's a two hour show. So keep that in mind before you don your own stilettos. I am actually 8 months prego and was not prepared to stand the whole time but one of the girls sweetly offered me a leftover seat up front that hadn't sold so I got to enjoy front row access and a cupcake! The burlesque girls were creative and had interesting costumes and certainly interesting tassel collections! The MC was a drag queen with the biting wit and humor you would expect. Each girl had her own choreographed routine. One girl was dressed as Freddie Kreuger with dildos for fingers-- that's one I'll never forget! The show was definitely amateur all the way around but props to the Saloon for trying to do something different. read more

Bar opened about 3 weeks ago, and it's not fully operational yet. Bar food won't start 'til next week. They did have 48 beers on tap!!! Including the full line of Great Lakes! However the beer prices seem to be all over the places, and many were $5 for a pint. Have specials each night, including many geared towards public service, armed forces, and nurses. Had darts, pool table, shuffle board, a crazy firefighter game, and a free Atari game where you drive a fire truck. Plenty of space in the bar, and even had an additional room that was closed off! Loved the chalk board in the bathrooms! Will definitely come back once this place is fully running. read more

This is an interesting place with some pluses and some minuses. They have a ton of dart boards and have some cool live music options which is very cool. Some drinks seem very reasonably priced, but some seem way out of whack with the type of bar it is. It is definitely more of a dive bar so I would expect basic mixed drinks to be much cheaper than they actually are. Cheap beer seems to be in line with other cheap beer prices, but other beers seem to be a buck or two more at least. I haven't been here a great number of times because it is a bit off the beaten path, but I always have a good time when I am there. read more

Dive bar vibe, but a step above the rest with its expansive beer selection on tap. I visited for the first time for a CD release party, which was held in a separate room off the bar. It's a pretty good size with the obligatory dart boards and pool table. I think there was a ping pong table in the back too. They were accommodating for the private party and once the bar opened to the public it was pretty busy. One minor thing annoyed me - after paying for my drinks, the bartender gave me my beers, but walked away without giving me my credit card receipt although it had printed. If you want to get people in and out, give them their receipt and beers at the same time. I stood there waiting and considered walking away without tipping because people were anxiously waiting to get their drinks behind me. Pet peeve of mine... Despite that, it was a fun night and I'll consider coming back if I'm in the mood for a casual night out. Interested to see the types of bands they bring in the future. read more

Went in on a Monday night. The bouncer appeared to be doing his homework at the front door. After he glanced at our ids we went to the bar. There was what appeared to be a bartender doing dishes. She looks up then leaved to some back of house area. She's gone a10 minutes so we decide to leave without having a drink. There are too many bars too close to go somewhere they appear to not care about taking my money. Side bar. They have a good selection of beer but also at least 3 empty beer lines that I could see. Not that I would get anything but a bottle beer cause at least that will be sanitary. Ping pong is cool but not enough to make me go back regularly. read more

Actually came here by accident meaning to go to the Playhouse. We used our GPS and when we walked in and sat down, we just knew we weren't where we intended on going. We decided to stay and the bartender was friendly as could be but the place was definitely your dumpy divey bar scene. We were elbowed every 3 to 4 minutes but the guys playing pool behind us. Completely unintentional, but the pool table is parked too close to the bar stools and there is little room to play pool and sit at the bar comfortably. They have ping pong in the back, some darts in the front, again horribly placed. I am lucky I didn't get hit in the face with a dart upon walking in the front door of this place. The second you step foot in here, people are throwing in front of you. The place has a certain smell, a combination of beer and body odor. Perhaps that is what makes the place charming. They have firefighter memorabilia around the place, which is cool. Ultimately, if you like dive bars with some games, casual atmosphere and cheap strong drinks, this is your spot. read more

I've been going to the Firehouse for years, their wings are very good, but last week my girlfriend and I went in to get wings and stood at the bar for 15 minutes waiting for service while the bartender (blonde woman with dreadlocks) stood at the end of the bar talking to friends? Other customers? Either way we stood there for 15 minutes without being acknowledged before walking out and going to the Playhouse. It's probably time for a re-visit, but I didn't like Firehouse Saloon the last couple of times I went. It's a great space and I'm guessing that it's a lot more appealing when a band is playing...but, it felt empty and cold the couple of times I've been. The beer menu is impressive, that's true, but the taps taste like they could use some cleaning. And although I was told to get the wings there, they made me feel sort of sick -- slightly undercooked with a gamey texture to them, I'm not sure why. We got two different types of wings and honestly they put me off chicken wings for the next several months. I'd be willing to give this place another try. It did seem more like a playground for the "boy-trapped-in-a-man's-body" with all its games etc.. Not a bad thing, you just have to be in the right mood! If you like the drs inn, firehouse has a similar feel probably due to the fact it has the same management. This bar houses live music on the weekends as well as a large selection of beers, several dart boards, a pool table, and most importantly is the only bar that i know of with a ping pong table! Best dry rub wings in town! If your mouth waters thinking about spicy food, get the "dragon's breath" dry rub. Great group of people. I recently moved in to the area and multiple groups sought me out and made me feel at home. I'd recommend this bar to anyone. read more

I went there cuz my roommate's friend was playing in a band that night. It was a dive-ish bar if it's not a dive bar. I don't know if it's because there were bands playing that night, it was crowd that night. It was a Saturday, if I didn't remember wrong. I didn't drink at all that night cuz I was DD, although some weird british guy insist on buying all of us drinks. Well, that's not true lol. I did drink a shot of Goldschlager under the peer pressure. Drinks there were inexpensive. They had $2 shots too. The bands were pretty good that night. They all rock bands. This Place is a horrible place. Either that Or I just picked a bad time to go to it;. I am a local south wedge resident and was going to the gas station across the street (sunoco) from the firehouse. To grab a six pack of beer. When I ran into a message on the front door of the gas station that said " be back in 15 min" . So I thought to myself why not go have a beer at the firehouse, well I wait for the store to open back up. Well That was a horrible idea. I walked into the bar and sat down for more then 15 minutes and never got severed a drink or was even approached by the bar tender. Even though there was a max of 15 people in there.And she(bartender) was not busy at all. After waiting for 15 min(or more) for a drink. I decided that I had had enough of the firehouse and its crazy bartender that does not. serve people. I 100% DO NOT recommend this place and say that one would have a better time at one of the other fine local bars. One of the worst bars I've ever been to. I will never be going back. The prices are just awful. They charge $16 for a pitcher of Sam Adams here! There's no way to justify that. When a pitcher (60 ounces) costs more than a twelve pack (144 ounces), something is very wrong. There's a dozen other bars where it would be $10 or less for the same pitcher. The service is terrible, too. I was passed over by the bartender three times, after I know she noticed me, with my credit card ready to go. The outdoor area is way too small. Since it was extremely hot, everyone was packed into an outside area large enough for only one picnic table. Come here only if you enjoy being charged an arm and a leg, with terrible service and facilities. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would! The bartender was rude and frustrated because we had "such a big" group (8 women) and we all wanted to put food orders in. Everything seemed to be going good the first couple of minutes until she says "I'm only one person". We must've been placing too many demands on her by ordering food on a Thursday night which they only had about 6 other customers besides us. So we're waiting for our food and trying to order drinks she then makes the same "I'm only one person" remark a few more times. At this point she is visibly frustrated. The food comes and she forgot 2 orders of fries. She comes back with one order of fries and someone asks her where is my order of fries. She then replies I put BOTH orders in the SAME box and proceeds to grab a paper plate. That's when she escalated and started going off irately about how she's the bartender and the cook and we're taking up her time from other customers blah blah blah! Customers are customers we're spending money too! Then she yells "FINE, I'll JUST MAKE SOME MORE" and stormed off. The order was placed by 2 different people why would you put both orders in one box and then not even tell us?! She then goes over the other customers and goes "I'm sorry they're acting like they're the only people in here taking up all my time"! That was it! We then told her she was being very rude and we wanted to speak with her supervisor. She told us upfront "ok, if I get my supervisor he is going to kick you guys out".. sure enough he (Dave) came and dismissed anything we had to say. He told us there is a lot of disrespect going on and we can't purchase any more drinks and that is his right to that. That's your right only if we were DRUNK. No one was drunk, we just wanted FOOD primarily! It turned into a big blow out he told us he's getting us boxes so we can take our food and go! He then followed us outside arguing with us, cursing and name calling. At the end of the day we got kicked out because we ARE BLACK! None of us were rude to the bartender we just wanted to get food and it was too overwhelming for her obviously. I won't be returning and I will never recommend this racist establishment! I'm disgusted by they way we were treated! It's not our fault she can't handle the demands of being in the bar business! That could've been a very good tip for her but she blew it! read more

Consistently great food and service. I am always a bit disappointed that there is a cover for bands playing even if you are just there to sit at the bar. Fortunately, they're local bands who deserve the money so I don't mind paying, but it gets a bit steep with events happening nearly every night.
