Nikki's on 46th and Pulaski wasn't just a restaurant -- it was the last of its kind in Chicago. I grew up around 35th and Western, and let me tell you, that Nikki's location didn't even come close to what 46th was doing. The quality, the flavor, the care -- everything about it was top tier. Their gyro? Legendary. Real meat, real ingredients, and the real tzatziki sauce. Not that watered-down homemade stuff everyone else tries to push now. Nikki's kept it authentic -- farm-fresh, thick, tangy, and made right. Nobody else is doing that anymore. Everyone's cutting corners, using cheap ingredients, and it shows. Nikki's stayed true while the rest sold out. I'm heartbroken. As a grown man, I can say this hit me hard. I wish I had known they were selling -- I would've stepped in to buy it and keep it running. The burger patties are very thin, but my friend said it was pretty good. My friend had the gyro plate, wings, & fries. She shared the food with her daughter. They both enjoyed everything. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and chicken rice soup. It's hard to screw up a grilled cheese so that was fine. The soup was much too watery and it didn't have much chicken. My sister had the grilled chicken sandwich. She said it was delicious. In fact, she raved about it so much that we all wished we'd ordered one instead. We had ice cream for dessert, which was fun. Overall, all the food was good. We all left satisfied. The stranger who suggested George's has good taste! The restaurant is clean and comfortable. It was fairly busy, but we were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch, which was great since our friend was visiting from London. The staff were all pleasant and helpful too.
