Great service, tasty beer. We shared the special of the day that was a white pizza with burrata, rapini and prosciutto. The crust was spot on nice and crispy with just enough of a bit softer bite at the ends. Friends got a sausage which was great as well. But don't stop at the great pizza, this is also a brewery. Was so crowded I couldn't get to the bar to take a photo of the beers, one was a vanilla, nice a light. They also had to nitro coffee stout and I had a very good Weiss beer. read more

Local Berwyn spot that I've been wanting to try! First time here and it wasn't too shabby. We ordered the Pepperoni & Margherita Pizza, both solid pizza's and not filly/doughy at all. For about 6 of us, we ordered 2 pizzas and three flights for about $70. Satisfied our hunger but definitely did not fill us. It's also not the biggest place, so don't expect lots of space. Also we tried their homemade Seltzer and I actually liked it! On top of that, it was $2 so it made me want to come back just for that. If you haven't been here, I would say test it out and make an opinion. Nice vibe overall and the service had some nice people, that always adds to the experience. Berwyn has a lot of great local businesses and among these is a brewery. Flapjack has been around awhile now, and still the employees have a clear love of the job. It's not just a brewery but also a pizza restaurant. Each of these are great on their own, but together makes one of the ultimate combinations. The prices are pretty good, and you get full pours and portions. Good reasons for getting off Metra in Berwyn are one: getting beer here, and two: getting pizza here. If you like beer and pizza, you need to get off. They don't serve some frozen shit. It's motherfucking real. Pizza is good but beer is still the main thing. It's a brewery after all. The draft list isn't huge. Even though it's been open quite a few years, this is a pretty small building. Last time I had a few pints. Best of all these was the Berwyn Common. It's about $6.50 for most pints. This one has a medium alcohol content with a little citrus sweetness. As for the pizza, I have only tried the one with no cheese, the Marinara. It's $10 for all pizzas. This one has garlic, olive oil, oregano, San Marzano tomato sauce, and sea salt. It's bigger than it looks. This is plenty for one person. It's full of flavor. They can put a lot of pizza into the wood fired oven, and it comes out quick. Concluding, it's hard to say if the beer or pizza is better. It's easy saying both are good. Then just get some of both, and get some cool merchandise like hats and shirts. read more

Visited on Saturday at 6pm, and the place was nearly empty. Server was clueless from the beginning. 7 of us at the table, she brought 4 waters, so we had to ask for water for everyone. We ordered 4 pizzas. Remember, the place is nearly empty. 40 minutes later, we ask about our order, and she never put it in. 4 employees standing around doing nothing. After an hour wait, pizzas start coming out one at a time. Server brings 4 plates for 7 of us. We have to ask her for enough plates for each of us. We have to flag her down for more drinks, because she's watching TV the whole time. Would give 0 stars for service. The beer is good, and the pizza isn't bad, so I'm being generous with 2 stars. I was incredibly disappointed in this place. I had such high hopes, but my group left pretty miffed and hungry. We had a large group of friends come in for lunch with kids. We showed up right when they opened on Sunday at 12. We were the only ones there. My one friend asked me to grab the four top table next to me to add to her four top. We were having about 12 people coming so it would have be a tight squeeze. The bartender comes out of nowhere and says "no, you cannot put the tables together. Sorry, I am the only one here". I didn't think much of it and if this was the only issue, I wouldn't have given this two stars. We decided to hold down the other table and have people kind of sit between. We were then told that we could ONLY get the pasta special. There was NO pizza. No pizza? The thing you are known for? If I was the only person there, I would have left at that point. Crappy customer service and no pizza? No thanks! Still, we had a couple more families coming so we all got this pasta bolognese. My friend asked "whats pasta bolognese?" and the bartender said "you don't know what bolognese is? Its Bolognese!". I had to step in and try to explain better for my friend. He ended up not getting one. Probably a good idea because that pasta bolognese was pretty terrible. Flavorless and kind of cold. This was a super fail. My one friend who was involved with the table thing I mentioned asked if there was a high chair for her daughter. The bartender said "probably" and walked away. We had no clue if he was getting one, but he did come back. The only reason this place is getting two stars was that the beer was good. I got the Silk Clown Shirt which I really liked. However, after we finished our subpar pasta and beer flights, we got out of there. This bartender had no problem giving good customer service to the locals who bellied up to the bar and ignoring us, the only tables filled. The more and more I thought about this place, the more I never want to return. Their beer is not good enough to compensate for the lack of food and customer service. Probably the worst brew(pub?) Great spot for homemade wood fired pizza! Came on a Thursday evening and grabbed an open table. We ordered the arugula salad which was huge and very tasty. It had thick slices of parm, pistachio, tomatoes, and a slightly sweet and tangy balsamic drizzle. I tried the margarita pizza and my friend tried the pepperoni supreme. Both were great! The margarita crust was very airy and light. I do wish the bottom of the pizza was a little less soggy but it was still good. The atmosphere is causal and relaxed and right across from the train stop. I will definitely be back to try more! read more

I came here this past Saturday at around 5:40 p.m. It was pretty full. Most of the bar was filled and there were a lot of tables occupied. I sat at the bar, next to the self-serve water cooler most breweries have. I checked out the QR menu and asked the bartender what he recommended. He said the margherita pizza is a classic, but the Pizza de Stagione Verdura (however its spelled, lol.) was their seasonal veggie pizza. Ok, so let's try it. Wow. It was amazing. Fresh heirloom tomatoes and a smoked cheese (can't remember the name he told me) that made it all come together. I also had a glass of the vanilla cream ale. They said it's the most popular and I can see why! I could tell one of the servers/bartenders was new, but she was working so hard and was so sweet. I was able to play a few songs on the TouchTunes which was awesome. I also won a few bucks on the gaming machines in the back! All in all, I highly recommend this place. Different but delicious beers, amazing pizza, fantastic service, great crowd, family friendly and I won some money. What more could you ask for??? read more

This place is located alongside the railroad tracks in Berwyn. The main draw is that they are a microbrewery with an average of 7 unique rotating selections (It's almost like going to a Baskin-Robbins 31 flavors ice cream shop, because each month they will offer something different). And every beer has a lot of thought, love and care put into it. I personally love black beers! The darker the better. (Ironically, the one black beer I cannot stand is Guinness because of its very bitter aftertaste!) And the black beer they offered two months ago was far better on tap than any Guinness drought I have ever had! Plus, it had a sweet aftertaste! Better all around than any Guinness! And, a local secret, you can get it to go! Yes after having a pint or two at the bar, simply request that you want some to go. The bartender will fill and seal one of two sizes of aluminum can for you to go! Heaven in a can! Perfect for that midnight movie or binge watch your planning that evening! Enjoy! The food is also handcrafted! They specialize in unique pizzas! And their flavor complex is too die for! What makes the pizza so good you ask? Why it's the Mozzarella cheese! Which they hand make in the restaurant! Usually they don't offer pizza on Sunday's. But, their go-to-wizard-hot-shot millennial chef, David, always crafts something special for the Sunday offering! Examples including: 1) Foot-long Italian Sausage, that has been soaked in their homemade beer overnight! Hands down the best Italian sausage I have ever had! 2) Homemade Chili with all the fixings! I have been in hospitality for twenty years, including being a manager at Brewery that has collaborated with Flapjack in the past. I really enjoy Flapjack's pizza and beer. They don't offer Ranch dressing with their pizza, which I usually like, but we have been customers for years. Today we went for dinner, and I noticed they had Ranch on the shelf, but it had a $25 price tag. Surprised, I asked if they were offering it now, and he said only if you buy the bottle. What I don't understand is why go out of your way to be mean spirited to a patron? I never argued or was a jerk about not having Ranch in the past, this felt like it was going out its way to be unwelcoming. The bartender I was talking to was not hostile, but he sounded shaky when explaining because there is no way to say it without being rude. At the places I've worked in, if we didn't have something a guest wanted, or the kitchen/chef didn't want to make a modification, you just said no. After he explained this to us, I felt so uncomfortable we left and went to the spot across the street. We had a great pizza, warm service, and yes, the sauce I like on my pizza. read more

I have been coming here for a couple of years and slowly the service has gotten worse. When doing take out, I receive a text saying the pizza is ready when in fact that is not the case. Have had to wait an additional 15-20 min for the pizza to be ready and this has happened 3 times. Dining in and 40 minutes after putting in our order (which was just one pizza) we inquired with our waiter how much longer it would be. The response was that they were busy with takeout orders, their oven can only handle two pizzas at a time, and that this was not a Pizza Hut type of place...wow, great customer service! We love Brewery hopping, but this place was not your typical brewery. We were pretty disappointed by how many kids were there that were screaming at the top of their lungs. Don't get me wrong, I know many kids go to breweries but this one was filled with them and it unfortunately made the atmosphere not what we were looking for. Sad cause the beer and service was good and we wanted to try their delicious looking pizza but we couldn't stay there for any longer with the screaming kids. This is more like a pizzeria that happens to serve (mediocre) beer. The pizza is really, really good. Don't sleep on this, it's delicious. But the beer is subpar. Not terrible, just not worth the trip. The restaurant is really tiny and gets crowded and noisy quickly. They also aren't open very often, only Wednesday through Saturday for 6 hours a day. Not even open on Sunday, and doesn't open on Saturday until 3! For that reason, even though the pizza is delicious, we really don't ever go. read more

This was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. So good I had to go back and thank the chefs (the kitchen and brick oven are open to the dining room). I got the cup and char pepperoni, and my girlfriend got the margherita. The dough on both of our pizzas was perfectly fired, and the sauce and other toppings were delicious. Perfect ratio of dough, sauce, and cheese. The beer (I had a Beerwyn Common) and arugula salad were also solid. The service was excellent. Friendly and attentive, but not overly so. This review is for their beers only. I've been to Flapjack twice. Once after seeing off a friend at Berwyn Station, which is very close by. The second time, with my partner for beers and pizza. She wasn't able to order a beer, however, since she did not bring her ID! We're not young anymore. But I understand why they have to check. So, make sure to bring a valid ID. I was able to order, however. Flapjack has a limited but good selection of their own ales. What they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. The staff are passionate and knowledgeable about their craft, evident through conversations we had at the bar. I ended up going with their Double Zero IPA both visits. Very solid. Summer wheat was good, too. Certainly better than many of the new small craft brewers opening up in the Chicago area. Great atmosphere here. Low-key and community oriented. The space isn't huge, which I like. It makes the experience more intimate and friendly. Will certainly go back for pizza and beer another time. read more

5* Pizza. 2.5* Beer. The pizza here is fantastic. Cooked in a brick oven, great thin crust, sauces and toppings. We usually get the truffle and the sopressata or sausage but you can't really go wrong. This will keep us coming back. The beer however is not great. The IPAs are hopped to death and their other beers have little flavor. Service is great and very friendly. They also have really cool t-shirts. Would change my rating to 5* if they changed their name to Flapjack Pizza or made some better beer. read more

This place has changed. The pizza quality has dropped off. Underdone, not hot. Put basil on the pizza after it's cooked, not before. Burrata was chewy, not creamy. How to do run out of Arugula? The bartender refused to serve a woman at least 65 years old because she didn't have her ID. They left, along with their kids. Hipster snobs are behind the bar. You have to walk up to order but then sit to be served but then get up to pay. We bought an Ooni pizza oven this last Summer. I am convinced I can beat this place with one arm. read more
