It's not as close to me as I thought it was. What makes Villa Nova work so well is the direct nature of the business. They offer well-cooked pizzas in varying degrees of baking (crispy, "burn it", etc.). The owner's humor is very Chicagoan or Sticknian? idk. The younger workers pound out those pizzas with dedication but not sloppiness. It's nice coming here, you grab your pizza, and leave. So it's storefront pickup with no frills, no seating, and no bathroom, so really not the right place to go when you're pulling off the interstate because your children need a pit stop. Oops! But after we found a bathroom, regrouped, and came back here ravenous for pizza, I felt like we were struck by lightning. A pizza with fennel sausage and giardiniera, cooked "well done" so that the crust had a crackery texture and the cheese was beautifully brown, was just delicious. An astounding combination of textures (crunchy/chewy/soft) and tastes (heat, fat, salt, and acid) I devoured more of it than I could believe. Please Note: This review is more like a 4.5 than a 4! Villa Nova was the pizza we didn't expect to be even close to as delicious as it was. 100% unexpected, but each pizza we got was delicious! We got 3 pizzas which then came with a free cheese pizza, and even the cheese pizza was a hit! Perfect amount of salty mozzarella cheese deliciously melted on each pie. Perfect amount and distribution of toppings. The crust was crispy but not too thick, and it wasn't too chalky or bland. Great prices, and they have deals regularly, so ask when you call or check online! Quick and friendly delivery as well! They didn't have gluten free pizza, but I get it! I had some SERIOUS FOMO though, cause it all looked delicious, salty, melty and perfect. We are picky about our pizzas having eaten plenty of them all throughout the city. Quite simply the holy grail of Chicago thin style pizza. We ordered 4 or 5 XL pizzas for delivery and I heard zero complaints from the crowd. Our group that was fed grew up in the neighborhood across the street (Berwyn), and this was a staple growing up in the 70's and 80's. Not sure how I slept on this pizzeria until recently, but after my initial pick up, I doubled back within a week. If you're a fan of tavern pizza or sausage for that matter, you absolutely have to give them a try! The sausage are the size of mini meatballs packed with flavor. They're open for about 5 hours daily so pay close attention to the time when heading over or placing an order. The other thing worth mentioning is, as of September 2022, it's carryout only. Great pizza! Very thin, but not the cracker type. Each piece (cut in squares) is kind of small, and since its so thin and delicious, its easy to eat 100 :) Also really enjoy the double-dough (thicker, although not as thick as "pan pizza"). Great pizza, thin crispy crust that travels well, ordered it there and drove the pizza back to Westchester where we live now, it stayed pretty crisp considering how thin and the crust is. Always have been amazed at their sausage grid layout. Every square has a piece of sausage. I think they've set a new standard because each piece had 2 pieces! Villa Nova is the BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA. i HAVE EVER EATEN and that's not a joke. I may be biased because I grew up in Stickney and have been eating it since 1974 or so. We now live in Will County and go to Villa Nova at least every other month and sometimes more. We always get a wet gravy bread to eat while the pizza cools down and we find ourselves eating the pizza in the car, sometimes sooner than we should. The original owners, new owners and all the staff over the years have always be polite and friendly. This is a real neighborhood pizza joint. Growing up, we used to eat at the few tables that used to be behind the original oven that still sits in its place. When they expanded into the next store, they added more seating, but we never dined in, it's more of a carry out pizza place. The lack of ambiance is outweighed by the pizza, it's STILL the best thin crust pizza I have ever had and believe me, i eat a lot of pizza and I cannot think of another that is even a close second. read more

I have been eating Villa Nova for 40 years-and I doubled down the decade I worked there. I've had a LOT of Villa Nova. The good: all of it, you can't go wrong. The better: I LOVE the double dough pizza; it's not the classic thin crust "tavern style" that Villa Nova is famous for, it is the same delicious crust, only fatter. My husband is a thin crust meat lover's guy; I am a double dough cheese gal. Hidden gems: baked mostaccioli meat sauce meatball. If you want an old school pasta dish with amazing "gravy" and delicious meatballs, this is the way to go. A beef with cheese-simply delightful. A beef with cheese on garlic bread? Even better. Skip-the mozzarella sticks, they are lacking in comparison to the rest of the menu. Instead? Try the garlic bread with cheese. We always pick up so I can't speak to delivery times, I will say that when we order and they give us a time, we tend to add 10-15 minutes of "grace time" because they are busier than they think are-with good reason! read more

I'm gonna repeat the praise of reviewers from when the PREVIOUS owners ran it, now...no. One of the less bad choices in the area but it's still all off. It looks the same, thin crust and meatball sized sausages, but the quality is way way down, much the same as Portillo's after they sold out. Everything is DRY. Barely any sauce, we ordered extra this time and were charged an insane $5 for what should've been a normal amount. They really cut back on the cheese (don't be fooled by the photos, you are NOT gonna get that amount of cheese on your pizza even if you ask for it) and the quality of all toppings are just crap now. They used to be very juicy, some might say greasy but that where all the flavor is! Now it's like eating a PB and J sandwich without milk. Or diving face first into the Sahara with a raging hangover. Some new comments are commending their service but I found that to not be true, all very indifferent teenagers that frequently botch the orders. The owner took our order. Didn't enter it properly. And after waiting an hour, he tells us it will be right up. He then leaves for the day apparently. After anothe 3p minutes we find our order was never placed and we left without a pizza. After 90 minutes. Unfortunately, I knew I was going to come here and find 1 star reviews about a place that is tanking under new owners. Theres no way to keep a restaurant operating with such careless ownership. Stopped by here after visiting the cemetery. Staff was friendly and efficient. Tables and chairs could use a deep cleaning/wipe down as they were kind of crumbly and greasy. Large mushroom and sausage pizza: The size of the pizza and quantity of toppings was good. However, the sausage was very salty, to the point where I was intentionally avoiding them and picking them out. Also, the crust was too soft/soggy to hold up the toppings. When you pick it up, the entire top just slides off. I had to hold it together like a sandwich to eat it. Big disappointment. Hot wings were fine and as expected. Cheese fries: I guess I expected the typical nacho cheese on top, but this was melted mozz (and maybe some yellow cheese) on top. So if that's your thing, great, but just eat it while its hot because then it just hardens into one big solid piece. Undercooked pizza. This pizza used to be THE best tavern thin crust in the Chicagoland area when Tornabene family owned and operated. Unfortunately standards have slipped since. They consistently undercook the pizza and it's way over salted. I also feel there are too many hands on the pizza. I watched them making and they put all ingredients on with bare hands, no gloves. I figured that there was no time better than a Monday night at 8:30PM in this Covid-19 low automobile traffic environment to go pick up a pizza at Villa Nova in Stickney and get back to my home in north Oak Park in time to still enjoy a warm-hot pizza. I was right! Here's a few thoughts... * Loved the old school paper packaging. * Crisp almost cracker like crust was pretty good. Helped set it apart from "ordinary" pizza. * Right amount of cheese. Sauce was nothing special. Could've used a little oregano. * Cooked just right - not over or under. * When I first saw the sausage it was reminiscent of the long gone North Ave. Capizzi's "one per square" look, except this was two large pieces per rectangle! Generously spread, but I have had tastier sausage on pizza. I did notice they have an area to dine in and will keep that in mind for future visits. The two guys working there were pretty nice and helpful. Also, there is a "website" for the place, but told me they didn't make it - "pizzastickney.com" is NOT their site! In fact, it's pretty outdated anyway, so don't depend on that for an accurate menu or prices. The staff told me they use Facebook as their primary social media outlet. Overall a pretty good experience. I'd say it's among the better pizzas to be found as it has its own taste and style, but in my opinion there are better pizzas to be had in Chicagoland. read more

Why do I have to pay 42.00 plus tip for a pizza that has sausage the size of small meatballs on a thin crust pizza that wasn't cooked enough but the green peppers on topped were cooked like they were dehydrated.No flavor because all you could taste was the sausage meatballs.I don't get it from one or two weeks to the next the pizza is so different.Its why I quit a few years ago.I gave it a try a couple weeks ago it was great.Guess I'll try again in a few years again and hope I get lucky. read more
