I wondered when this would open up after I saw the logo next to the target when target opened a month ago. I'm glad I decided to park in the garage today because when I walked out of the building, there it was. Way past the target and closer to the old navy parking lot. I'm sure it just opened and they'll have a street sign outside soon (I hope). Their donuts were awesome in the city and it's no exception here. To celebrate my surprise, I got the triple chocolate donut. It's the best cake donut I've had and the crunchiness on the outside is so delicious with the decadent chocolate coating. Had a trip to Chicago a while back and dropped by this spot. They had popped out some freshly made donuts. I got myself a donut ice cream sandwich and the rest was history. It's definitely a must try with the ice cream in the middle of two warm donuts. read more

I'm a sucker for really good donut spots and this is definitely one of them. I like them much better than Stan's Donuts. They have a great variety, although, my favorite is the Tahitian Vanilla Ice (a classic). Their minis are also perfect size for someone who has a sweet tooth but doesn't want to go overboard. Yummy Donuts!!!!! The coffee is good too! Me and the kiddies ordered it via grubhub the coffee and hot chocolate came hot that definitely was a nice surprise. The donuts were delicious. Wow, so last night we visited the Oak Park location. What a disappointment! We asked for fresh coffee to go along with our donut treats.The girl asked us to define fresh, and told us that it was about 4 hours old. FRESH COFFEE IS NOT 4 HOURS OLD!!! When we asked if she could brew a new pot, the girl said "Well, I really can't and I'm being lazy. I just don't want to".... What!!!! Great service. Place was kinda tiny and the wait was pretty long but the product was definitely worth waiting for!

We went to try the donuts. Got a few to taste and these are amazing!! Better than stans. Not too sweet where you just want to eat them all. Service is great!! I tried their mocha hot and wasn't a fan it needed more coffee taste and not so much a hot chocolate taste. I would continue coming here and try their various donut flavors. For now our favorite are pistachio and espresso. We didn't enjoy the lemon one so much it was way to tangy for us and I'm a person that puts lemon on everything. Honestly they had great service and employees. Its a every calm and chill place to be at. But, as for the desserts that they sold, they were okay based off what we got. We got a key lime Michael, cinnamon churros, donut ice cream sandwich, and a iced latte. First of all the key lime misbark was WAY TOO LEMONY. The iced latte had no sugar added to it. Absolutely love this place! The staff is always very friendly and typically throw in an extra donut or two on big orders. As for the donuts themselves they are amazingly well done from the classic glazed donut to the innovative espresso donut. I feel so disappointed. I thought I was buying a King Cake from a bakery for Mardi Gras. I was excited to share with my family. I paid online and it was $18.65. I mean what do you say except Firecakes has some of the best donuts around in the Chicagoland area. They mostly have yeast style fluffy soft melt in your mouth donuts. My personal favorite is the Tahitian vanilla donut. But I have tried others and those were good too. You cannot go wrong with any choice. The prices are a little on the higher side but it is worth every penny. They have very nice employees at the Chicago and Oak Park locations. Helpful and friendly. read more

Being a bit of a donut aficionado, I've been very excited to try out Firecakes ever since they opened a location in the suburbs! This is a cute teeny tiny little shop located near the train tracks in Oak Park, and the food photos look so delicious. There is lot parking across the street and a garage as well, so you don't have to wander searching for street-side. I stopped in at about 10 am on a Sunday and had no wait; the staff was friendly and helpful. They had a nice selection of donuts, and they are certainly gorgeous to behold. Big fluffy donuts that look like they are going to be amazing. But, I was a little underwhelmed with the actual taste. I tried a Tahitian vanilla and a glazed. I found them to be lighter and not nearly as tasty as a Stan's or Glazed and Infused. Definitely not terrible, but about comparable to a Mariano's bakery treat. I didn't try the drinks, and will likely be back to try another variety or two just to make sure I'm not totally crazy so I'll try that then as well. But for the price ($3/donut) and the location, I'd definitely rather hit Stan's. read more

While i agree with everyone else the doughnuts are good overpriced but good. My review is about there business policies. they charge $40 for a dozed doughnuts and refuse to take a $50 bill. There reasoning is that they do not train there employees to recognize counterfeit bills. So here's an idea hire employees you can trust to recognize counterfeit bills like they do at target at McDonald's, Nordstroms and every other business. And to the Bi%$@ that told me its their business they can do what they want so can i and never go there again. read more

Their donuts are good, but the customer service was very poor. I ordered a number of donuts, and was taking them to a family get together. I was given the wrong donuts (I ordered a Pistachio bc it is my mom's favorite flavor, but there was an old fashioned instead), and when I called to let them know, I was not offered a refund. I could not drive back because I was about 45 minutes south of the Firecakes location. I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I checked out firecakes on Monday. I wanted to taste all my donuts before posting a review. The location is huge outside, but much more smaller than I thought inside. Someone brought in donuts at work from this place before. I had a carrot cake donut that was delicious. When I arrived on Monday that's what I was hoping for to my surprise their donuts are seasonal :(. So I decided on 3 different options which were a chocolate peanut butter donut (had filling), maple bacon I believe it was called (had filling), and a peach fritter. The peanut butter donut had way too much filling and if you're not into dark chocolate you probably won't like it as much, I'm sure I won't get this donut again. The bacon donut was interesting, but way too much glaze and I didn't like the filling. My final option was the peach fritter was amazing my favorite donut of the 3 by far! I was told the options would be changing in a couple of weeks, would be curious to see what they have next. Lastly, I wish they had a half dozen/ dozen package option. I live in the town next door, but hadn't heard about this place until a coworker from New Jersey said she heard about it and said she HAD to go. Anyway, I took a bunch of donuts home and ordered a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was actually pretty incredible. The donuts are definitely fresh and good. I thought the pistachio donuts was really unique. My husband really liked the old fashioned and my four year old was satisfied with the sprinkles. That said, I think they could do a better job with the chocolate frosting. I love all things chocolate...milk chocolate and dark chocolate! Their chocolate could be better. The people that work there could be a little more friendly and helpful. Also, they don't take $50 bills....which is a little weak considering 6 donuts is around 20 bucks. read more

im aggravated to have to write this review. i was so excited when a firecakes opened up right around the corner from me. i have went every weekend for 3 months. all is great and dounuts are best ever. a month ago i ordered a dozen and was shortened 4 ,there was only 8 in the box. no big deal i called and the girl that said she was supervisor seemed really aggravated w me. she said to email the owner jonathan and gave me his email address. so i emailed him never heard back and called again the up coming week we were going in and was told well email through our website which i did never heard anything . i wont be going back. you may have the best dounuts firecakes and jonathan but it takes a village. and if your going to let a young girl talk to a every few days customer like that to where i wont come back w my kids. i promise it wont take long for the village to fall. this may not be a big deal for some but the way i was talked to then ignored by owners and management it is to me. 33.00 for a dozen is alot, so all i wanted was what i ordered. read more
