I got the worms and dirt and ordered a medium... but let me tell you, their "medium" is basically a large in disguise. I was not prepared. It was HUGE--I couldn't even finish it! Grew up going here and I've been many places, across many states and I still love Tatsee Freeze like I did when I was a kid. Their soft serve ice cream is quality & feels like you're at home. The past few times I've gone, I've tried something new and this time I had a dirt & worms Freeze. A Freeze is basically a "McFlurry" of whatever flavor you want. They have many flavors! The dirt & worms was not bad but the worms basically turned into rocks and froze while I was eating it. It was cool & weird at the same time. My brother got a Brownie Sunday and it was to die for... delicious. I can't see why anyone would rate this below 4 stars. Only thing to keep in mind it's a bit pricey, so be ready. I've been coming here for years and the quality of the ice cream has always been great! My daughter got a small cone with sprinkles and I got the Reece's pieces freeze. My total was a little over $10..so not too cheap but definitely worth the $. I didn't see a sign saying masks were required but everyone before and after me in line had one on. There was also a lot of picnic tables that you could sit down and eat your ice cream at, but it was so hot we just ate ours in the car with the AC on. We'll def be back!! read more

I love this place!! My sister introduced me to this years ago and we came back when she was pregnant as she was craving it. I love how you can customize everything almost anything. The workers are very quick when making your order (unless there's a huge line) and are very nice. This is one of those places where if you were raised on it, never left town, and don't get out much in your life you think it's "great." The soft serve, not "ice cream" for the simps who don't know that simple difference, is of lower quality than even cookie cutter medium quality places like Dairy Queen. The consistency doesn't even beat frozen yogurt from a Butera grocery store. Theres a fun spectacle of Cicero and nearby townspeople standing outside in a decently long line, which are mostly locals, locals who have left and who come back for nostalgia, and people fooled by their inflated reviews online as I was, but really, the soft serve is not worth the wait or time like most things in this low income city. Grew up in Berwyn, IL. Been going here longer than I can remember. Am I biased? OH HELL YEAH! But if you're looking for an old style "ice cream shop on the corner" experience, TF is the place to be. Missed it for a couple years with "The Big C". And it hurt. BAD. But, any time I'm even CLOSE to Berwyn, this place is a "Must Go". The people complaining that this is "Soft Serve" and not "Real Ice Cream" are simply snobs. If you want "real ice cream", there's a million places to go. But TF is about delivering a very specific taste and type of confection. Sure, it may not be to everyone's taste. HOWEVER... Everyone should try it at least once. read more

Husband and I had somewhat unofficially struck this location from our list of options after several disappointing visits -- watery soft serve, watery syrup, skimpy toppings and mix-ins when we had requested and paid for extra. When my sister was desperate for something to feed my nephews while visiting the farmer's market across the street, I pointed out the Tastee Freez, not knowing this location differs from others that offer hot dogs and pizza puffs. This one doesn't. Well, didn't matter either way. It was a bit before noon and they hadn't opened yet. It was close enough to noon, however, that an employee was inside getting the stand ready for service. When my young nephews, 5 and 6, ran up to the window, having not realized they weren't open yet, the woman inside shouted "f&*$ off," shot a dirty look at my sister and went about her business inside. I expressed my disappointment in a relatively small community Facebook group, not wanting to bash a Berwyn biz to the yelpishpere. The owner, Anthony, saw and made it a point to pass his number along to a mutual contact so I could call him as he was "concerned." Well, it would seem his concern is limited to his employee, not customers. No apology was offered. Instead, he wanted to tell me he reviewed the soundless surveillance footage and "barely saw the children" and expressed doubt that anything of the sort even happened because the "windows were closed" and the employee didn't appear to interact with anyone. I asked why my sister, nephews or I would have any reason to make something like this up. The owner said he wasn't saying I was, "just that the footage didn't show anything happened." At no point did Anthony apologize for the foul language or any possible misunderstanding, if that was even what he was trying to imply the entire interaction was in the first place. I love this town and want to see businesses succeed here, which is why I am reluctant to bash this one. That this owner has been operating with this sort of attitude for 30 years (?) is a marvel to me. I am pretty sure the first lesson in customer service is never to argue with customers. That the product is subpar was enough reason to avoid. This level of service is just the nail in the coffin, for me. Will not just avoid, will never return. read more

This place is just a stand with only 3 or 4 people working in it. Good soft serve for the price. This place is mainly great for the childhood memories, which is why I go back time and time again. I honestly forgot about it's existence until just recently so I stopped by with my younger brothers a couple days ago on an adventure down memory lane. It's still as good as I remember it.
