This is now a Boba place that DOESN'T include boba in their drinks. They've VERY recently updated their menu to no longer *include* the boba with their drinks. It costs 1.50-1.75 to add boba to a drink that already costs 7-8 dollars. I don't like when businesses do grimy practices like this, quietly changing their menu and making the customer pay more for something that used to already come with the service. I came at least within the last month and boba was included, came yesterday and noticed a sign saying boba is not included in any of the drinks so I had to pay extra than I did last time. We come at least once every two weeks and we love this place! Drinks are always consistent and the staff is always fast to make the orders, even in busy rushes. The only thing that sucks about coming is the parking in front! There is never any parking and we have to park down the block or sometimes a few blocks away! I discovered Sweet Monster after a search of restaurants with 'Bubble Tea' via yelp. Sweet Monster just happened to be ranked number two within a radius of the River Forest area. From there, it became an instant bookmark for me after I viewed and took a liking to its items featured on its menu, which was a huge plus! Unexpectedly, I visited while enroute to a nearby fitness center. Its location sits along Roosevelt Rd. If you have tunnel vision, you might miss it because its signage does not stand out, so keep an eye out for its neighboring business Turano Bakeshop which is meters away. Parking is free (2-hour), and shared, with space directly outside of the location. The employee took notice of me shortly after I walked in and up to the counter to look at the menu. I was given plenty of time to browse the menu to see what gauged my interest. I ended up ordering a Dragon Fruit Green Tea w/ syrup flavor choices Green Apple, Lavender, and Popping Boba Cherry. Out of the selections of drinks, I just could not take my eyes off of the Fruit Flavor Tea section which will likely be the drinks I order during future visits. I could not wait to taste the Dragon Fruit Green Tea which I took a sip of immediately after getting inside of my vehicle. It smelled wonderful! And to match its wonderful smell, my taste buds were surged with the delicious syrup flavors I chose. Yum! I finished off my drink entirely during my treadmill run as it gave me something to sip on in-between my run intervals. Being that I had a great experience, I would gladly order from Sweet Monster again when in the area. The staff here is the best- they are friendly and keep their cool when it's super busy. Treats here take time to craft, but even at their busiest, are well done. Rolled ice creams take longer because they only have one station -- about 15mins so not bad. Prices are very expensive for very basic quality though. We got: - Dragon fruit black tea (1.5/5): I can barely taste the black tea or dragon fruit. It's just terrible sweet syrup water.....Added aloe vera which tasted weirdly soft unlike typical aloe vera topping that I have gotten hundred times. It's bad. - King Kong (3/5): banana and Nutella rolled ice cream. I like the variety of toppings on their ice creams. Looks cute and fun to eat! However, they don't add enough mix-ins (in this case banana and Nutella), which makes the ice creams taste mostly milky (the ice cream base) with a hint of flavor.
