Summary
A new chic restaurant in the Soho district with a theme of food cooked over a fire in an open kitchen. Good quality food, but quality and flavor varies by the dish. Would still recommend overall.
Ambience
With dark and dramatic lighting, there is a rustic but modern feel. Quiet music makes this place ideal for date night or small groups.
Service
I went around 6, and the restaurant was pretty empty but filled up quickly. Service was prompt and friendly. The waitstaff were all wearing labcoats-- an interesting choice.
Food ( = fav)
I went during one of days where there was a heatwave sweeping London so opted for more seafood and cold dishes.
- The Halloumi was a favourite: great balance of flavours between fat and acid.
- The Oysters with yogurt was an interesting take on the dish, but just OK. It felt a bit lacking.
- The corn ribs were really nice, but definately overpowered the other delicate dishes in terms of flavour and spice. Would recommend eating as the last starter.
- Avoid the scallop carpaccio. Very dull.
- The sardines + pesto was surprisingly good. Not too salty with a good range of flavours.
- Lastly the Monkfish: beautifully cooked so the texture was perfect. Good harmony with a delicate stew. A must try if you haven't had Monkfish before.
Price & reservation
Easy to reserve online. Price/value is worth it for some dishes, but not for others. May depend on the season? read more
