I have been to Bokan 38, the bar area of the establishment, and I enjoyed it. The place itself is really stylish and chill, the view is amazing and cocktails are pretty good. Definitely worth trying if in the Wharf after dinner.

We came here to eat after checking in to the Novotel hotel. It took 10 minuets for a waiter to approach us (you can see them standing around. The atmosphere is great but the service lacking.

Dinner with a view of London from the 38th floor

First of all, the view of downtown London from the 38th or 37th floor is outstanding. That adds to the pleasure of any meal. The breakfast buffet is very good - traditional English offerings like eggs (fried or scrambled, some with deeep orange yolks), bacon, sausage, beans, roasted tomatoes, fruit, yoghurt, etc. For dinner I had warm fresh bread (the best I've had in a long time), a delicious glass of champagne, a veggie side, and a perfectly cooked ribeye. (Americans, if you like your meat rare, order it "blue". That's a bit too rare for my taste, but when in Rome...)

Bokan is swanky. And I am glad it is far away enough away from the bustle of central London, and close enough to reach easily by tube. Been here a couple of times and enjoyed the food, and the sky bar. Very easy speaking bar with a little live music. Life just slows down a little bit. It does get busy, so booking is advise, but you can just turn up to chill at the bar, only if it hasn't reach capacity, by then they will ask if you have made a booking. At time of this post, I would say before 6pm and you will be just about safe. Restaurant The food service was great, Saturday night, can get busy, but staff was attentive. Asked for the cocktail menu, " I am the cocktail menu" bespoke cocktails!!. They do actually have a cocktail menu, we tried at the bar, and that was different and unique. Same at the bar on the roof terrace, the bar staff pride themselves on making their unique cocktails. Food was quality, and presentation was spot on. Bokan is fancy, and definitely has a wow factor. Its part of the Novotel hotel, so it not like in your face, conspicuous, which is what I like. The roof terrace is amazing in the summer, has an open lounge feel, the toilets are even more fancy. Great for group bookings. Price is slightly higher than most, but feels about right considering location and views.

Beautiful partly sunny day! Perfect weather for the rooftop!

Good, a bit sweet. Messy to eat. 3/5 Truffle fries - good but average 4/5 Polenta - very tasty, a must. 3/5 Duck and waffle - I expected this to be bigger but it was good. I normally prefer chicken but the duck wasn't bad. All the food was decent and the staff were all nice. It's unfortunate that the walk to the restaurant passes by the smelly toilets. Also there was only one lift working that day so it took a little time to get up/down.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

Loved the vibe there and especially feel sophisticated when people around you are ordering things like 'Old Fashion' and Hendricks for a change. Restaurant side though it is quite pricy. The trick to get the most intense cake was blend the tea leaves AND matcha powder together, this was paired with a slightly burnt caramel sauce and a super sweet peanut ice cream. But eaten together, the balance was JUST right, right amount of tea intensity, bittersweetness and crunch! The brittle was not sticky to the teeth and it was so so so good. I WANT ANOTHER ONE NOW. I DON'T CARE IM WRITING THIS IN THE MORNING. NOW. Right from when we say down to when we left, the service was impeccable and faultless. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive, with a dash of humorous sarcasm! Apparently being the difficult customers we were, we asked about the whole menu, but you know, for the benefit of YELP obviously! My fellow diners opted to get the soft boiled gulls egg and the dramatics were great, it came in a gulls nest hidden under straw! It was a bit finicky though- shell to take off and wasn't as runny as they'd like - also they brought out 4 eggs but then stated that the price was per egg, which was a bit weird. But I guess they were clear about that! Saying that though, it tasted amazing, or so I was told. Then the mains, gosh the beef cheek I had was beautiful, soft and rich and just the right amount of food on a plate (along with a salad side) It was a beautiful plate of dish and I was recommended a glass of red which paired really nicely! I think it was the Morgan! Aside from one of us, most of us opted for beef from steak to steak tartare and they were lovely enough to do a mains portion of steak tartare for my friend. Unfortunately the steak wasn't as great as the boys expected- steak was wonderfully big but that was it's downfall, it wasn't soft enough! And one of my diners had the market fish which was the Dover sole in a Beurre blanc sauce and it was massive. The mains alone are well worth the 30% off! So ups and downs, and I wish I could give it 4,5 stars because aside from the minor steak fiasco, the food was beautiful, the service faultless even when they knew that we were not full paying diners! With drinks and everything, it wasn't cheap and it's something for payday for sure- 5 of us came to about £40+ a head....

Mains: Chicken Pastilla - This was my favorite dish of the meal, as the chicken and other ingredients were enclosed within this crispy exterior - very tasty. Lamb Kofta - This was basically like lamb sausages, which were good but nothing that special, although the sauce did add some nice flavor as well. Sides (or as they call them, salads): Aubergine - Came with 2 slices of aubergine; I liked the white sauce on top which gave it a little extra creamy flavor Cauliflower- Very standard so not much to comment on here Mushrooms - Pretty nice pairing with the lentils as well Butternut Squash - Well cooked with some parmesan shavings on top My main issue here was the value, as each combo of main + 2 sides costs 29.50 GBP, and the portion sizes were rather small (refer to my photo). In fact, they even combined 2 sides into 1 small plate because the portions were so small. The interior is very nice though, as it is an elegant yet minimalistic type of design. It wasn't too busy for lunch even on a weekend. The staff are fairly friendly and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, the pros of Ottolenghi are that the food is pretty good and the environment is nice. However, the cons are that the portion sizes are small (so value might not be great) and the lunch menu is fairly limited. Therefore, all things considered, I am giving Ottolenghi 4 stars.
