Went here with my family for a surprise birthday dinner. Had no idea this place existed, now I love it. The service was great, the hibachi chef was fun, engaging, and entertaining. The waitress was thoughtful and helpful, paying close attention to detail. Examples? Well it's the little things, my husband's grandma came with us and her hands shake a lot. When the waitress noticed this she got her a styrofoam cup with a lid so it would be easier for her to lift and not spill. The chef cut her food in smaller pieces. Like I said it's the little things. And the added plus was the food was awesome! I had shrimp and steak, of course there was so much I couldn't eat it all. The next day I decided to have my leftovers, my hubby said he wasn't having his because it's never good the next day. I reheated mind and the smell, look, and taste was amazing! My mates and I have tried to come here as often as we can over the past 4 years of college. The food is excel at along with the staff. The Tsunami with extra rice is plenty a meal for the next day over. Their cocktail menu could use beefing but it is overall a very enjoyable place. read more

The local hotel recommended this establishment and I am glad they did. Even though it was 7pm on a Wednesday, it was very busy in the main dining area and we did not have reservations so the wait was 45 minutes. However, both the bar and sushi bar areas had immediate seating. We chose the sushi bar as that is what we planned to eat. It was awesome! Taste, freshness, presentation, and quality were great. Hi! Just wanted to let the owner or someone in higher management know about a horrible experience I had at your restaurant this evening (3/15/18). My family and I arrived a little before 7pm to wait for a table. We had no reservation but were told we'd be seated within 30 minutes. After waiting an hour to finally be seated we were placed in the very back in the small room with 35 cheerleaders at the tables near us. We then waited an additional hour and 10 minutes. It was now 9pm and our chef has not made an appearance. We have 2 babies under 3 months and the cheerleaders in the room were, no exaggeration, screaming at the top of their lungs. As if they'd never seen fire before. We asked the manager if it would be possible to move tables. He came to us with no apology and said, "no, if I move you, you will be until 11:30 pm until you eat. And that means I'll have to be here until midnight." I also asked if he could politely ask the other table if they could refrain from screaming but the manager (Jason) offered no solution to our problem. We then told him sir we have already been here for 2 hrs+, will you please bring us our check for what we have had and we'll be on our way. He walked away, still with no apology, and never returned. We took our time, got the babies in their car seats and began to walk to the front of the restaurant. The manager, Jason, was talking to other employees about us and not getting us our bill. We then stood at the front for another 5 minutes and no one came. We walked back in the dining room asking for our bill and he told us to wait. We said we needed to go and he told us, "that's fine, I'll just call the cops on you." 1. 2 hr + wait and no food is ridiculous. 2. Putting us in the small room in the back with a screaming, large group while the entire front dining room was empty is inconsiderate. 3. The manager is not a manager, nor was he even a man. It was pathetic how he spoke to us and had the nerve to complain about how late he'd have to be at work if he moved us. Moral of this story, I will never be back and I will shout from the roof tops how absolutely horrendous this restaurant is. We paid $30 for sodas and 2 sushi rolls and never got our meal. It's now after 9:30 pm and we all had to hit up chick fil a in order to eat supper. Shout out to Chick fil a, you're always the bomb. Should've gone to you in the first place. read more

I must disclose that I have a teppan-yaki grill in my home. That being said you can't go wrong a fire and sticks. Tonight my friends and I had an older Japanese dude cook up the works. Everything was cooked to perfection. Scallops shrimp filet mignon all pulled off at just the right moment. Downside is that they don't have the right sauces to take the meal to the level it should be at. Unless you're a jerk off like me that has basically turned teppan dining into a secret second career you are going to love this place. My husband and I always choose to have date night here. It is our favorite Japanese steakhouse. The food is always great with huge portions. The only reason I didn't give it all five stars was because the service can be very slow. I visited my former favorite Japanese restaurant for dinner with a friend. The cook was great, and the food was tasty as usual, but upon arriving home both my friend and I started to experience stomach issues and were in and out the bathroom. It did not take us long to come to the conclusion that we were experiencing food poisoning. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager, and was told that I would receive a call back because management was busy. I received a call back from Phyllis who quickly told me that there was nothing that can be done without a doctors note. Anyone who has ever endured food poisoning is aware that you simply have to let it wear off on it's on, there is nothing that a doctor can/will give you for it. I was appalled by this response. I bought home a big plate of leftovers which will have to be thrown away. The food is too expensive for this restaurant to dismiss customer concerns in this manner. I would have been semi satisfied with a little empathy or a sincere apology...at the very least. Instead I have created a Yelp account just to leave feedback about their customer service, or lack thereof. You have lost a long time customer Fire & Stixs. read more

We were staying in a hotel close so we thought we would try the place. We made reservations. When it came time to seat us they did not have enough room at the tables. They had our 2 chairs but there was not an inch to either side to allow us to sit down. When we asked to be reseated they said they could not as they had no other chefs. Had a company dinner there this past Saturday. We had 7p reservations. We were seated around 7:45 and sat there and sat there, waiting for a waiter. All I know is it was past 8:30 before we were eating dinner. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to return with my draft beer, without the water I had also requested. In addition to the extremely long wait, the floor underneath our feet was littered. As far as the food, it was fine, but no better than what I've had at similar restaurants. Would be hard pressed to make a special trip to return. Update: apparently a few of their workers called in, unable to work, so the restaurant was short staffed. My kids just went to your restaurant for birthday party with other teenagers . My son ordered steak and shrimp but was charged for a ribeye and shrimp. We have been there many times and had no problem getting a childs portion. The waitress would not allow my daughter to purchase a childs portion. She was forced to buy an adult portion despite the fact she doesn't eat much. Furthermore they added 18% gratuity when these kids did not understand why. Needless to to say i will never bring my business clients or family to this restaurant ever again. We normally visit the sushi bar, which I would give 6 stars if possible. The atmosphere and staff in the sushi bar are terrific. This particular night, we ate hibachi, celebrating a friends 40th birthday. The service was really good. I wish I had caught our waitresses name to give her proper credit. The chef was very nice, but unfortunately the food (especially the snapper) was extremely salty. The chef had a really good attitude though and had a new piece of fish cooked for my husband. I am from California and I asked my co-workers of a good Japanese restaurant, a lot of them suggested this place. I should have known from the name that it was not going to be good. I made a reservation earlier that day via telephone. We got to the restaurant and had to wait an hour to be seated....obviously a reservation means nothing to them. After being seated, I immediately noticed there was food all over the floor and on the table...it was disgusting, and we should have left. I asked the hostess if they are going to clean up the floor and the table...she said yes, in a very condescending tone. They never cleaned up the food. Someone sitting next to us ordered edamame and they brought out a bowl of edamame beans; not in the pods. I ordered white rice instead of fried rice. They brought me long grain Uncle Ben's rice slathered with butter! Seriously? This is supposed to be a Japanese restaurant and they don't have white sticky/steamed rice? And what is with this "white sauce" that people in NC rave about? I tried it and it was disgusting! And definitely not authentic Japanese. This place is no good! read more

With out a doubt the worse dining experience I have ever experienced. We had reservations at 7:30 and did get seated until after 8:00. We waited at the table for another 40 minutes. The soup was cold the salad dressing was water. Yes, dressing colored water. The chief finally shows up and food falls off the cart. So, we had to wait even long her for clean up. The rice was crunchy and steaks were under cooked. Thankfully the "chief" forgot my steak all together. My husband and a lady from the party we shared a table with had to refill the water glasses because, you guessed it, no waiter to be found. You would think the manager of the establishment would want to apologize or at the very least acknowledge the lack of service we received, but no! He was hiding in his office leaving his staff to deal with the mess of the evening. When we talked to him about the debacle, he blamed it on others. The restrooms were also nasty. He proceeded to start throwing vegetables at the other guests in hopes of getting them to catch the square carrot pieces in their open mouths. When he came our way, we told him "no thank you". He pressed on, we told him we have waited an hour we would just appreciate him "cooking" our food. The food was then quickly/hastily prepared, shrimp was too soft, beef was overcooked. Rice was not thoroughly cooked/heated. There were only two cooks in the whole place. They made no allowances on the fare. I made no allowances on gratuity. At the request of my son we decided to visit Fire & Sticks. Upon being seating we noticed it to be extremely hot, as well as other customers seated with us. When we asked the waitress why it was so hot she said "because when all the burners are going it tends to be hot, it gets even hotter than this at times". Only half the burners were going...so she lied. After listening to others at my table complain I decided to ask the manager why it was so hot and he explained that the air was not working and would not be repaired until the next day. This is the second unpleasant visit I have had with this place and I promise to never return, I don't suggest anyone else go either. Dinner: filet mignon (medium well) and shrimp. Both server and cook we're friendly and outgoing. The salad with ginger dressing was good although the dressing seemed watered down. The spoiler for me, however, was the foot long black hair in the middle of my salad that I ended up chewing away on. Not good! The filet was cooked to the correct temperature. The bowls for the ginger dressing and "white sauce" were ample so only required filling once. Fried rice accompanied the meal. No noodles. Quantity and quality of food was lacking.
