When Blue Water Grille was proposed as a location for a work-related dinner gathering, I had never heard of it and was unaware we had such a quality establishment so close to downtown. It's hidden away off the main stretch, but easy to get to with parking on-site. When we arrived at 5pm, the restaurant was fairly empty and they were already set up and waiting for our group reservation. We were greeted by Freya, who had a great personality and provided fantastic service all evening while we were there. Can't speak highly enough of her! They have a comprehensive wine menu and a full bar. I started with a Lemon Drop Martini which was delicious, and later had a glass of Merlot as well which was tasty as well. They had warm fresh bread on the table with butter which was great since we were all very hungry. For my meal, I ordered the Halibut Large Plate. This was a lightly crisp blackened piece of Halibut topped with lump grab and a sauce, then served atop a piece of andouille sausage, asparagus, and creamy grits. There were SO MANY flavors perfectly balanced together here with a variety of textures to enjoy as well. I have nothing but good things to say about this. Blue Water Grille is fairly expensive and not somewhere you would come regularly, but for a special outing or a date night it is a great treat. The menu is seafood heavy and non-seafood items also pack a lot of flavor, so be aware that there are limited options for that picky eater in your party who perhaps wants a more plain chicken dish. As an aside - Someone in my party got the Mac & Cheese small plate and it looked fantastic. Definitely something I'm going to order next time! read more

Our first time here did not disappoint. We sat at a table in the bar. Our server, Travis was very attentive and knowledgeable. We start off with my ties and fried green tomatoes. I am ashamed to say I've lived in the south most of my life and have never had any before and these were outrageous! Perfectly seasoned and garnished with a cheese trap pate. I ordered the salmon with a salad and my husband ordered the dish. He came with two large shrimp. They are both very tasty, but the only thing I would say is that the chef was pretty heavy-handed with the salt twin grilling the fish. Blue Water Grille is an absolute gem of a restaurant tucked away in High Point. We won a free dinner here through a realtors contest and was able to celebrate Valentines here. Unfortunately, our sitter fell through so we had to take our two daughters but it ended up being a great evening for all of us! With this, I wouldn't say it was a kid friendly restaurant per se because of the ambiance and food selection BUT our amazing server, Holly, made sure that we felt so welcomed! She was so caring for us and our daughter and knowledgeable about the food choices! Now the food was absolutely amazing! I got lamb chops and my husband got the tuna. The lamb was cooked a perfect medium rare and the mashed potatoes were delicious. My husband said it was the best tuna he has had in quite a while. We ordered a starter of fried green tomatoes topped with trout and I'm drooling just thinking of how delicious they were! My lemon drop martini drink was so refreshing and tasted like it had fresh squeezed lemon juice. The dining area here is so cool and the ambiance is classy but relaxed. Wonderful dinner. Even living in High Point for a year, I had never heard of Blue Water Grille until now. It's hidden away off of Main St. and just surprised this restaurant was always there. The food, pretty damn good. I especially was surprised by some of the Asian inspired dishes and flavors, and the descriptions didn't look "watered down". Once you walk in, it definitely felt like a fancy date-night spot. Served first with some good sourdough bread. Ambiance is nice, nothing looked really dated and I actually liked the style of chairs they have. A couple of fish tanks literally within the dining area and we were luckily enough to sit next to one. Our oyster appetizer was pleasant - flash fried oysters and it tasted exactly like that, flash-fried and not greasy or overly breaded. The dipping sauce that came it was alright. My Steak Frites came out absolutely perfect (medium). The fries had some old bay to it but not overpowering. It came with a Parmesan sauce that was great to dip. I am still thinking about this dinner from Blue Water Grill in High Point, NC. It is tucked in the heart of High Point and it is definitely a hidden gem. This is a great place for a date night or an upscale get together. The staff was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. The menu is pretty versatile and has some asian inspired flavors that we were very surprised about. My Scallop & fresh made pasta was cooked perfectly with good sized scallops and the ingredients were fresh and made for a wonderful dish. The complimentary sourdough bread was great as well. The oysters were nice and tender with the right amount of batter. The fries came with an amazing Parmesan aioli. The steak was well seasoned and beautifully cooked to order. I love going back to High Point and reuniting with my college friends at some of our favorite spots! We stopped into Blue Water Grille for dinner last night and had an amazing experience! We shared a bottle of red and white wine from their wide selection, and then a pot stickers appetizer to start. Next we had a house salad and followed it up with some incredible desserts. I loved the chocolate torte, even though it wasn't exactly what I expected. It was more similar to a lava cake but still warm and tasty! The fried cheesecake and sorbet flight with cherry, mango, and lime was amazing!! Our waitress was kind and friendly, she made sure we had everything we needed and helped us pick which desserts to share! The atmosphere is more on the fancy side with dim lighting and stunning wooden tables. Lots of parking just outside the restaurant! Omg this place really rocks. In Highpoint No Carolina for furniture shopping + looked up best seafood. This did not disappoint! My friend and I started with the Crab dip + house made crackers. The dip was really rich delish + crabby too! My starter was a lovely salad topped with gently fried Fresh oysters! Really great salad + the oysters were juicy + fresh. We shared a Halibut dish + Scallop w Pappardelle. Both dishes were great tasting. But the Halibut for me was just a bit overcooked (it was a thick piece) and the Scallops were awesome tasting, for me the pasta was got in the way of the awesome flavor, , both dishes were great tasting. Then we shared honestly the most sublime Key Lime Pie ever! Rich Creamy Limey + the Graham cracker crust beat out my mom's (sorry mom). Service we had the Most Delightful Sweet Kind person serving us. She even gave a big hug at the end of this great meal. Lovely calming ambience. Off the beaten path location but centrally located. Wow!! What a dinner. I've been wanting to try @bluewatergrillenc for a long while now. It's difficult to get in because it has a good reputation for being a very high quality seafood restaurant. A friend invited me to dinner tonight and we got there early and sat at the bar. To start, our bartender/waitress was excellent! She suggested a drink to me and I am now a total fan of this cocktail- the French 75 with Prosecco instead of champagne, simple syrup, lemon juice and Hendricks Gin. She also triple checked everything and made sure our orders were perfect. I decided to try the special for tonight- the Seared Halibut with shredded Langostino scampi and a whole Langostino on top of the Halibut. This was very mild and tender with a light broth coating the pasta and meat. Just what I wanted. My friend got the Halibut with asparagus and the Bernaise sauce on the side with a glass of wine. It looked delicious as well. We, of course, had to get some dessert. Just look at these beauties! My banana caramel cheesecake was warm and stuffed into fried flour tortillas! We were fortunate to get a last minute table reservations and so thankful to have had the opportunity to dine at Blue Water Grille. We were served by Mr. John and entertained by Audrey. What a Dynamic Duo. A spectacular experience which started with appetizers (crab bisque and pot stickers). We stayed with seafood entrees---mahi-mahi and halibut. Both spectacular. But wait...there's more. My wife and sister-in-law split the bread pudding that had a small dose of ice cream on top. The creme brûlé complimented with coffee was a stunning way to end the evening. After a long day of working my colleague and I stopped by Blue Water Grille for a bite to eat. We were a bit grubby because we'd been working on an estate clean out job. Neither of us had ever been to the establishment before. The hostesses were outright hostile and didn't want to seat us...we headed for the bar. Which is where we were planning to sit anyway. Customers in the bar were quite snobbish and it wasn't a friendly atmosphere or ambiance. Small bar area, very packed full and LOUD on a Wednesday evening. Originally the bartender was a bit brisk and not particularly friendly, but warmed up a bit once we ordered cocktails with top shelf liquors and high end items from the menu. Came while being on a work trip. They started the table off with mini breads and butter which was ok. We then ordered an an appetizer,crab dip this came with focaccia bread the dip was actually really good as it had actually pieces of crab. I ordered the salmon with soy ginger sauce this came with a side of mash and asparagus. Loved the salmon it was cooked to perfection! And the sides were also pretty tasty. One of my coworkers ordered trout with risotto and the other ordered bolognese. I tried the risotto and it was pretty good she liked her dish. Finally found a place in High Point to get fresh seafood. They had a bunch of fish of the day on the menu, and fresh scallops. I asked the waitress how fresh they were, like fresh out of the freezer, but she said "of course, never frozen." I was skeptical, but I went with it anyway. I could instantly tell they were fresh. They were plump and had a really good bite to them. It was sweet, with a hint of brininess, and cooked perfectly. Not overdone to the point of rubbery, but not raw in the middle (although I love eating them raw at sushi restaurants). I got a kale salad or something as an appetizer, and it was actually exciting to be eating kale. I'm not sure if it even was kale, but it was very light and airy, and didn't have a bitter aftertaste. Even though it's pricey, I would definitely get it again and recommend it to everyone. They also put out bread and butter. The butter is homemade, but the bread isn't. We asked because we wanted to know where we could get some, but our waitress didn't know, or wasn't allowed to give away trade secrets. The four of us went through 2 baskets of it before our appetizers even came out. I was relieved the next day when I didn't get food poisoning from eating seafood in High Point. I will warn that it's definitely pricey here, even for northern Virginia standards. This place is reserved for special occasions, or business dinners. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Blue Water Grille with a party of 8 last night to celebrate my daughter's (virtual) graduation from college. From start to finish, we had an exceptional dining experience. We arrived to find our table decorated for our celebration - a very nice touch. We were greeted by our waiter, who was friendly and accommodating throughout service - always there when we needed something but not overbearing. The bread served to start our meal, as mentioned in other reviews, was outstanding. After eating too much of it, we moved on to appetizers: 2 dozen oysters, Potstickers, and Calamari, all of which were enjoyed. I will mention that the oysters were perfectly shucked - absolutely NO grit and that the MP was $34/dozen. Everyone loved their entrees; NY Strips, Chicken, Scallops, Salmon, Halibut, Vegetable Pasta - we almost sampled the entire menu. I personally had the Salmon with grilled shrimp puttanesca, goat cheese polenta, asparagus and basil oil, and I would happily order that again. We ended our meal with a variety of desserts: chocolate tortes (a complimentary one was presented to the graduate,) which were rich, delicious lava cakes, bread pudding, a cookies & cream ice cream sandwich, and gelato, all of which were delicious. We HIGHLY a recommend this restaurant. What a hidden Jen!! We were in town to visit a local college. Found this location via the yelp app. We had a part of our party w their jaw wired shut. The chef went out of their way to purée and strain their incredible soup so he could enjoy it! He was smiling w every bite!! The rest of us loved our meals (crab cakes, watermelon salad & steak). After the local food critic's rave review of Blue Water, I knew we had to check this place out - and tonight we did. I don't always come away with the same opinions of a restaurant as he does, but this time we could be siamese twins. This is a hidden gem, literally. Finding it was the only off note of the evening, and that is nit picking. But, it is not an easy find, first time, and our little GPS lady seemed totally confused. She said our destination was on the right, but it wasn't - a Wachovia/Wells Fargo Bank was. But there is a code, and it is 3. If you are coming from Main Street, it is the third "drive way" on the right. If you are coming from Johnson Street, it is the third "drive way" on the left. This is a softly lit, well decorated place, with interior walls that provide nooks, and soft corners. And there are several in-wall fish tanks that provide ambiance and amusement - one with a hard working catfish that is amazingly single minded. The wait staff, apparently an all female lineup, is exceptional - efficient, knowledgable, and friendly. We were seated quickly, drink orders procured, and a delicious bread soon followed. It was a crusty potato bread, which I really found nice - and I've always been of the opinion that potatoes should be mashed, fried or baked. There was a nice small plate of olive oil with basalmic vinegar. The Fried Calamari with 2 dips was excellent and plentiful. The Crab Bisque was as good as I've ever tasted - rich and creamy, with a mound of real crab in the center, and for $6. The Oscar Grouper was very nice - loaded with crab meat, and cooked to perfection, and the sauce was rich and smooth. It was listed as blackened, but we ask that it not be blackened, and we were accomodated, perfectly. It came with maybe the best mashed potatoes I've ever had that weren't cooked by my grandmother. You do not want to count calories or carbs here, you just want to enjoy. The appetizers run $6 to $12, with the entrees coming in at the mid to upper $20s The Beef Tenderloin was also perfectly cooked, tender and rich. This place is best known for its seafood (thus Blue Water), but that beef is pretty darn good. And the desserts were equally exceptional. The Chocolate Torte, or lava cake to some, was really nice, with a near perfect cake, tender and light. And the chocolate wasn't bad either. The Key Lime Pie was equally exceptional, rich and creamy. They have a nice sized bar here, and a bartender that pours a good drink. This place is celebrating its 7th anniversity, and it should have many more. read more

Took the bartender 15 minutes to ask what I wanted to drink with only three other people at the bar. Shortly after the bar filled with locals. 45 minutes later and after two local couples had ordered their dinner (who sat down 20 minutes after me) I asked, "can I order dinner"? The bartender snarked "well, yes!?". I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu, the filet. It was OK but nothing to write home about.
