Chicken balti

Indian food is my favorite so I am super excited to have this place so close to home! We had been trying to get over there for a while and finally made it in last night. I saw so many dishes I was not familiar with and that excites me. The waitress was super helpful and took her time to answer all of our questions, decide being responsible for the hostess station and the bar area on a thankfully slow Wednesday evening. This particular restaurant has reinvented itself several times over the years. The decor has pretty much remain the same from the previous iteration. Everything was clean and the staff were super attentive. Already excited about my next trip in!

I don't normally get Indian food very often as its not something I crave, plus I can't pronounce anything on the menu lol. This restaurant was and is worth trying! The food was very good and one of my fellow Yelpers highly recommended it. Thats saying something! The outside of the restaurant is modest looking and has a nice wooden deck for summer time dining. The inside looks modernized with a bar area and the rest are dining tables. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. They have great patience too as they must get many customers who need help with the cuisine choices. I started out w corn soup appetizer. Not alot of corn in it but it was hardy as it had light colored lentils in it. It tasted somewhat like a Korma dish in soup form. Loved it!I ordered garlic naan to go with it. It was Nice, warm and soft, with just the right amount of garlic, not overpowering, just right. My final dish was a shrimp tandoori, which was very nice to look at very great to taste. The grilled shrimp were sitting on a bed of julienned vegetables with a pretty rose shaped onion with the edges dipped in beet coloring. The dish had a great presentation as it came out of the kitchen on a sizzling skillet. I finished up with a nice hot cup of tea spiced lightly w cardamom, lemon and ginger. I loved the unique flavor in a bracing black tea. Its a restaurant that highlights Indian cuisine in a tasty, quality Way. A gem!

I couldn't wait to revisit this relatively new spot, so we put together a small food run to High Point. As I said in my first review, I know the vast majority of this menu from my frequent visits to the padre site, Curry and Noodle in Winston. In this visit I went with a couple of favorites - Gobi Manchurian and Goat Vindaloo, along with Garlic Naan. These items were excellent - the kitchen here is up and ready!

Housed in the former Lulu & Blu location, the recently-opened Curry 'n Spice is, so far, very nice. The menu is appreciably huge, offering not only the greatest hits (breads, kababs, curries, etc.) but also a few dishes with Southern Indian, Indo-Chinese, Nepalese, and Afghani roots. Alas, there are no thalis, but there are plenty of options to satisfy vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Sometimes, variety comes at the expense of quality, but not so here. The kitchen put out consistently good food, and they will match your desired spice level. Vegetable samosas were fragrant and larger than those you might find elsewhere. A lamb rogan josh boasted tender meat and a spice-forward sauce. I've encountered versions of this dish where the heat overwhelmed the flavors, but Curry 'n Spice's rendition let the cardamom through. Even the rice (soft basmati with very long grains) was above par. One of our favorites ended up being an item we received by mistake (they let us keep it and still brought what we ordered): cheese naan. It was addictively chewy, cheesy, and buttery on its own and also worked well to mop up sauces. Service at Curry 'n Spice was attentive: the owner (we think) stopped by to make sure we were enjoying everything. As with the building's previous tenant, the interior is classy and comfortable. Admittedly, the Latin jazz in the background seemed incongruous for an Indian restaurant, but that's a very small nit to pick. For the amount and quality of the food, pricing proved pretty reasonable. High Point has other Indian eateries capable of putting out tasty food, but consistency can be hit-or-miss. For Curry 'n Spice to be firing on all cylinders early on is, hopefully, a sign of more delicious meals to come.

CHEESE NAAN

Curry 'n Spice just opened this week! I had the pleasure of trying their food out and if the name sounds familiar it's because they also own Curry 'n Noodle in Winston Salem! We got a lot of stuff to try and they delivered! We got veggie chili momo's, tandoori paneer and their veggie Hakka noodles for an appetizer; we definitely over ordered but everything sounded amazing! The spice and flavors in all of the dishes were incredible. We got medium spicy for everything and it was a true medium spice. For dinner we got Shahi paneer and the daal tadka, both were amazing. And we got their cheese naan and garlic naan which were fresh and cooked well. Overall everything was amazing and there's something for everyone! The service was impeccable. The waiters consistently came by and made sure we were taken care of and didn't need anything. I'll definitely be back!

Wow. I'm blown away how good this Indian food is. I've been to India. I'm a foodie. I've been to London. I don't need to go anywhere else for the best Indian food Plus the service is awesome. Every is super friendly. Especially our waitress Anuska. She taught me a lot of Hindi words.

I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. A dozen different variations of cheesecakes, several cupcake varieties, a dozen different kinds of macarons, several different cakes, tiramisu, tres leches, banana pudding, edible cookie dough, more cookies than I could name, brownies, eclairs, and more that I'm sure I have forgotten. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. Maybe I'm the last one to hear about Sweet Dough and everyone else has been a fan, or maybe it's a true hidden gem. Either way, I will 100% be back.

The workers were happy to offer us samples and in the end I got 2 scoops, one of some sort of Cookie Monster blue cookies and creamish style ice cream and I believe brownie batter. Both flavors were delicious and they hit the spot for a sweet treat craving. The shop is small with only one or two tables inside, but a small patio outside to sit and enjoy your treat. It is located in a small strip mall off North Main Street with plenty of parking. The front of the Ice Cream Shop is decorated very lively and you can see how much they appreciate their High Point University customers from a large welcome sign they have up letting them know this. The first thing that got my attention when I went in, besides how clean and organized the place was, was the great variety of offerings they had. I've been in order Ice Cream Parlors that serve Hershey's Ice Cream before and was aware of the many flavors they have to offer, but here besides the 64 flavors, they seem to have a variety of ways to have your ice cream, as well as other items such as smoothies and frozen lemonade, just to name a few. And to motivate you to explore the different ways of having your ice cream, they have pictures on the wall showing them. Even though the place was small with very few tables and chairs, it was already decorated for the Fall with colored leaves all over and small pumpkins on the table, creating a festive ambiance in which to enjoy some good ice cream. A young lady greated me with a smile and gave me a warm welcome. Since I was in the area to attend a Dinner Party that evening, I didn't want to get anything large; just a medium size cup of a nice flavor ice cream. The employee was so nice and helpful that when I asked her about a flavor besides explaining it she offered to give me a try on a tiny spoon. I tried the flavor Road Runner Raspberry and I instantly loved it. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to read about what this flavor contained and see for yourselves how good it looked for a picture is worth a thousand words. I enjoyed having this wonderful flavor ice cream and the High Point University sign in the entrance made me remember my college years in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, and how much I enjoyed going out with my friends for some ice-cream. I highly recommend this Ice Cream Shop and thank the owners of this family-owned business for providing this sweet spot where members of the community can come to spend some quality time with family and friends while they savor some good ice-cream.

We were welcomed in by staff, who was very friendly. They offer a massive selection of ice cream flavors, which makes it tough to pick. They offer something for everyone including dairy free options (including vegan options), as well as classic flavors, fruity flavors, and their own concoctions! In addition, they offer unlimited toppings to be added at NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!!! Still stuffed from dinner, I got a "single" cup, which they actually allow you to put up to (2) favors in. I decided to to go with (2) of their original creations, getting the Peanut Butter Cookies & Cream, and the Salty Caramel Brownie, to top it off, i got a chocolate drizzle, sprinkles and whipped cream. WOW! Don't let the size of the cup fool you, they pack it, full, and have overflowing. They don't skimp. The ice cream was absolutely delicious, so rich and full of flavor. The space is very relaxed with plenty of seating, as well as games for people to enjoy while visiting. Another nice touch, the cashier gave us a bottle of water on the house. In addition to cups and cones, they also offer milkshakes, ice cream tacos made to your liking, and so much more. Hands down, this has got to be the best spot in the Triad to get a nice sweet treat! As the days are warming up, I'm looking forward to going back!

I'm not sure if they do consignment style shops within the gift shop, or if it's all under the same business, but it's arranged in a bunch of mini sections that all kind of have a different aesthetic. It was a bit maze-like, but I have no doubt they sell something in here for everyone. Like the gift shop, the bakery had huge variety. Who knew there were so many types of cake? I ended up getting a carrot cake latte and a heart shaped macaron. It was only after I had ordered my latte with oat milk, checked out (including paying the up-charge for oat milk), and waited several minutes that they told me they were out of oat milk. This was disappointing, as I paid my extra for the oat milk, yes, but also because I don't really want a latte in general without it. Regardless, it was too late, so I just told them to do it with 2%. The latte was okay but I didn't love it. It mostly tasted sweet and like cinnamon. Which I guess is more or less what carrot cake tastes like? The menu said it came with a cream cheese cold foam or whipped cream (I don't remember which) but it came out with plain whipped cream. The espresso was a little bitter - maybe burnt or shocked. The macaron was gorgeous, but didn't have a macaron taste or texture. It was hard like cookie. A macaron should be light and airy, and the shell should almost collapse under a bite. I had to chomp through this one. I am not sure if it was stale, a bad batch, or if their "macarons" are just "macaron shaped cookies" by design.
