Paneer

We had a wonderful time here! I called ahead to get a reservation as we came as a group of 7. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was very knowledgeable and asked the kitchen questions if they were unsure on an answer. The service was very friendly and very efficient. The food was amazing! The cheese naan was warm, soft and cheese! The fried paneer was also delicious! The heat levels are from 1-10 and everyone ordered a level they decided was perfect! The prices are very fair and I highly recommend a visit here if you have not already been!

Indian food is my favorite so I am super excited to have this place so close to home! We had been trying to get over there for a while and finally made it in last night. I saw so many dishes I was not familiar with and that excites me. The waitress was super helpful and took her time to answer all of our questions, decide being responsible for the hostess station and the bar area on a thankfully slow Wednesday evening. This particular restaurant has reinvented itself several times over the years. The decor has pretty much remain the same from the previous iteration. Everything was clean and the staff were super attentive. Already excited about my next trip in!

I don't normally get Indian food very often as its not something I crave, plus I can't pronounce anything on the menu lol. This restaurant was and is worth trying! The food was very good and one of my fellow Yelpers highly recommended it. Thats saying something! The outside of the restaurant is modest looking and has a nice wooden deck for summer time dining. The inside looks modernized with a bar area and the rest are dining tables. The staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. They have great patience too as they must get many customers who need help with the cuisine choices. I started out w corn soup appetizer. Not alot of corn in it but it was hardy as it had light colored lentils in it. It tasted somewhat like a Korma dish in soup form. Loved it!I ordered garlic naan to go with it. It was Nice, warm and soft, with just the right amount of garlic, not overpowering, just right. My final dish was a shrimp tandoori, which was very nice to look at very great to taste. The grilled shrimp were sitting on a bed of julienned vegetables with a pretty rose shaped onion with the edges dipped in beet coloring. The dish had a great presentation as it came out of the kitchen on a sizzling skillet. I finished up with a nice hot cup of tea spiced lightly w cardamom, lemon and ginger. I loved the unique flavor in a bracing black tea. Its a restaurant that highlights Indian cuisine in a tasty, quality Way. A gem!

I couldn't wait to revisit this relatively new spot, so we put together a small food run to High Point. As I said in my first review, I know the vast majority of this menu from my frequent visits to the padre site, Curry and Noodle in Winston. In this visit I went with a couple of favorites - Gobi Manchurian and Goat Vindaloo, along with Garlic Naan. These items were excellent - the kitchen here is up and ready!

Housed in the former Lulu & Blu location, the recently-opened Curry 'n Spice is, so far, very nice. The menu is appreciably huge, offering not only the greatest hits (breads, kababs, curries, etc.) but also a few dishes with Southern Indian, Indo-Chinese, Nepalese, and Afghani roots. Alas, there are no thalis, but there are plenty of options to satisfy vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Sometimes, variety comes at the expense of quality, but not so here. The kitchen put out consistently good food, and they will match your desired spice level. Vegetable samosas were fragrant and larger than those you might find elsewhere. A lamb rogan josh boasted tender meat and a spice-forward sauce. I've encountered versions of this dish where the heat overwhelmed the flavors, but Curry 'n Spice's rendition let the cardamom through. Even the rice (soft basmati with very long grains) was above par. One of our favorites ended up being an item we received by mistake (they let us keep it and still brought what we ordered): cheese naan. It was addictively chewy, cheesy, and buttery on its own and also worked well to mop up sauces. Service at Curry 'n Spice was attentive: the owner (we think) stopped by to make sure we were enjoying everything. As with the building's previous tenant, the interior is classy and comfortable. Admittedly, the Latin jazz in the background seemed incongruous for an Indian restaurant, but that's a very small nit to pick. For the amount and quality of the food, pricing proved pretty reasonable. High Point has other Indian eateries capable of putting out tasty food, but consistency can be hit-or-miss. For Curry 'n Spice to be firing on all cylinders early on is, hopefully, a sign of more delicious meals to come.

CHEESE NAAN

Curry 'n Spice just opened this week! I had the pleasure of trying their food out and if the name sounds familiar it's because they also own Curry 'n Noodle in Winston Salem! We got a lot of stuff to try and they delivered! We got veggie chili momo's, tandoori paneer and their veggie Hakka noodles for an appetizer; we definitely over ordered but everything sounded amazing! The spice and flavors in all of the dishes were incredible. We got medium spicy for everything and it was a true medium spice. For dinner we got Shahi paneer and the daal tadka, both were amazing. And we got their cheese naan and garlic naan which were fresh and cooked well. Overall everything was amazing and there's something for everyone! The service was impeccable. The waiters consistently came by and made sure we were taken care of and didn't need anything. I'll definitely be back!

I ordered the tandoori paneer and paneer naan and both were delicious. I got a level 1 spice because I don't handle spice well but I wouldn't be afraid to go up a few levels next time. The prices were a little high but you'll leave with leftovers! They also serve a nice complimentary appetizer of flatbread and dips. We had a very nice server, will definitely return!

Wow. I'm blown away how good this Indian food is. I've been to India. I'm a foodie. I've been to London. I don't need to go anywhere else for the best Indian food Plus the service is awesome. Every is super friendly. Especially our waitress Anuska. She taught me a lot of Hindi words.

Peppers was an adventurous food choice for me since I have only had Indian food once before. If you…read moreare like me, don't hesitate to try it at this wonderful restaurant! I felt like I was receiving a home cooked meal prepared with care by a family, not a staff! Highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer, even if you are not a fan of the veggie. It was delicious! We placed two orders! Pair it with several baskets of garlic na'an and you are set. We got a variety of delicious dishes each custom made to each person's desired level of spice. Level 3 is pretty spicy as a reference for your choice. The ambiance was basic, but very clean. They do have a bar and private room for special occasions. Service was fast and very courteous. I felt the prices were very fairly charged. Ready to break out of the same old thing for dinner? Visit Peppers in Jamestown.

My newest food fixation is the Sesame Cauliflower from Peppers in Jamestown. I cannot stop thinking…read moreabout it. The perfectly cooked soft center, the crisp exterior, and the sticky ssssaaaaauce it's covered in... It's savory and heavy enough to be a meal but I was being generous and decided to share the appetizer with my spouse. They do offer a spice scale and they don't hold back. I foolishly tried the spice level 3 (out of 5 being the hottest) and should have chosen a 2 spice level. But the cauli was so good I fought through the pain. Worth it. I could have easily stopped there but we also ordered the garlic naan (also yessssss) as well as the Lamb Korma and Chicken Vindaloo. Both those entrees were delicious but the Korma really stood out to me. The rich and creamy sauce was very unique to my pallet and when I returned, I ordered the Chicken Korma. Clearly I love a good sauce. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, very spacious and would be great for groups or a romantic dinner for 2 (or 3 if you are into that sort of thing). The service was excellent and our server was patient when we ask questions about the menu. Fortunately, a lot of the dishes have descriptions on the menu so you have a good idea of what you are ordering. Looking forward to returning to Peppers again .... for the cauliflower... and the naan....

My last time rolling the dice on a new (for me) Indian eatery ended in disappointment, but I am not…read moreone to be so easily deterred. After looking at the menus for a few places, Shukkranaa seemed worth a gamble. The menu boasts everything you'd expect (curries, biryanis, breads, plenty of vegetarian dishes), and under other circumstances, I'd be all over the chicken 65. However, I wanted to give one of their quick lunch specials a try. Available in vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions, the offerings change daily, but they include an appetizer, two curries, salad, rice, bread, and a dessert. At $13 veg/$15 non-veg, that seemed like a good deal for the money. I placed an online order for that day's vegetarian special (paneer kadhai and daal makhani), and it was ready when I arrived. Though Shukkranaa's location (a strip mall near a motel up 68) screams "nondescript," the interior seemed more inviting, and the gentleman at the register was polite. After a short drive home, I was able to enjoy a better-than-expected lunch. It came largely as advertised with a pakora as the appetizer, naan as the bread, and a piece of galub jamun as the dessert (though the "salad" was just a few assorted vegetables). The rice was fragrant, the sauces creamy, the portion size more than respectable, and to my relief, Shukkranaa does NOT hold back on flavor. I don't know if the dine-in experience would be as impressive, and there are certainly other Indian eateries to choose from in the immediate area, but for tasty, convenient takeout, count Shuukranaa as a name to remember.

Stopped here recently for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were seated pretty quickly,…read moreand provided menus, but had to get the waiters attention to come back and take our order. The menu seemed to offer a good variety of Indian dishes, though I am not familiar with most on the menu, so I can not vouch for their authenticity. Playing it safe, I ordered the butter chicken, with no heat. My wife and I also got an order of kulcha bread, stuffed with paneer. The food seemed to take a bit longer than expected for as empty as the restaurant was. When it did come out, my dish and my wife's looked surprisingly similar for having ordered 2 different entrees. I'm not sure that they didn't serve us both the same dish, but she had ordered her's with spice, and what the gave me certainly had spice. Overall, the food was good, though I'm no certain it's what we ordered. When we were done eating, we waited and waited, and again had to flag down the waiter for the bill, but he told us we just pay up front, which would have been nice to know sooner. I could go either way on returning. Service as not overly welcoming, and for ordering something with no spice, i was a bit bothered that they gave me a spicy dish.

I ordered some classic dishes. The chana masala I got with a spice level below the maximum nonetheless carried a powerful kick. But I also picked a cardamom pod and a clove out of it; these things can be annoyances to the uninitiated but the resulting flavor is worthwhile. Adding a bread and salad turned out to be wise given the heat level. Their interpretation of a salad was a sectioned head of greenery, some other vegetables, and a hint of spices and lemon. My plain paratha was a worthy contrast to the exciting flavors of my main dish. Adding some samosas sprinkles with spices made for a solid two meals at a very reasonable price. I thought I'd finished, but at the bottom of the bag was hiding some complimentary chutney and yogurt and a papadum. The setting was a repurposed fast food drive through. The food was totally worthwhile and despite the bevy of options throughout the settled parts of North Carolina, I experienced no regret at having made this my road trip stop.

I tried a dish that I had never had before, as well as naan. (Because of course. How do you not get naan?) I was craving an Indian buffet and wanted to try somewhere new. That curiosity brought me to Noor,…read morewhich had been on my radar since it opened a few years back. I wish I could say that it was worth the wait, but my experience here suggested otherwise. Positives first: Noor is both spacious and stylish with plenty of seating in both the bar and dining areas. Sujan proved to be an attentive and courteous server. That said, the buffet was somewhat underwhelming. It was smaller than those I've found elsewhere in the area. While it offered a solid mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, those offerings were the epitome of playing it safe. Only the hakka noodles (not always an Indian buffet staple) and butter chicken (better than average) really stood out. Nothing else, from the tandoori chicken to the daal to the naan, was prepared poorly, but it was fairly forgettable. Granted, buffet food needs to appeal to a wide range of diners with varying levels of spice tolerance, and so I went in not expecting any heat. Take spiciness out of the equation, however, and the flavors still felt subdued. At least the $20 seemed reasonable for what was offered. It's possible that Noor really shines if you order off the regular menu, and so I wouldn't rule out a return here. The next time I want a weekend lunch buffet, however, I think I'll stick to Taaza.
