Steve Joyce AKA Fire and Ice has been taking great care of our family since the 2000s. Even though he always did what he said he would do, at the agreed price, and was able to get to us much faster than most, we were stupid and got another AC guy out that was affiliated with a home warranty we bought (which was another stupid decision.) The other AC guy came out and told us we need a $1,500 part installed. It seemed sketch. I had Steve out and he quickly told us that AC units don't have recapitulator valves so it didn't need replacing. (Just kidding - I don't recall the name of the part.) Here in Texas, one of the worst things that can happen in the summer is to come home to a warm house... I gave Steve a call (he was highly recommended by friends in our neighborhood!) around lunchtime on a Friday, hoping that he would have some time to swing by to check out what could be wrong. He told me he was busy through the afternoon but would make a point to add me as the last stop of the day, planning to be at my house by 6pm. True to his word, him and his son showed up around 6pm and checked out our unit. Thankfully, there wasn't a big fix needed - capacitor went out - and Steve was able to have everything back up and running within the hour. He was easy to work with, communicated great - both via text and phone - and gave us a very fair, honest price. If I could give this business 0 stars, I would. My wife and I recently moved into a rental home and the agent handling our move referred us to Steve Joyce to take care of the A/C as it was not performing up to par. My wife called to see when he would be able to come out and assess the unit but to fix it as well. He was rather rude and condescending towards my wife and told her he'd be over the next day late in the afternoon, he even made it a point to stress he was extremely busy. We brushed off his rudeness as we figured he may have been having a bad day, hey it happens. At around 1 p.m. The day he was to come I gave him a call to touch base on what time he was planning to come over so I could plan accordingly for childcare, as wife was starting her new job. However, I come to realize Steve was not having a bad day, he's just an asshole. He talked to me as if I was a child and started yelling at how he "came over an hour and a half ago" and that he kept calling my wife but she didn't answer. I tried to explain to him the situation, but he wasn't having any of it. Luckily for me, I had a relative who specializes in HVAC and fixed the problem. So, I didn't even meet Steve face to face but I know two things are for certain. 1) I would never conduct business with him based on the way he treated me, my wife, and I assume the rest of his customers. 2) had he come over and talked to me like he did on the phone, it wouldn't have ended well. read more

No air was coming out of the vents. Thought the blower fan was out. Called Steve to see if/when he could come take a look. He determined that the capacitor providing voltage to blower fan was bad. He replaced it and now we have cool air coming out of the vents. He also checked to see if we needed to top off the freon. We have used Fire & Ice several times in the past. He has replaced our condenser, the coil and the damper system. The quality of the service has always been excellent. Steve makes sure everything is working and you are satisfied with the work done. He is very professional and knowledgeable. And his prices for repair and service are very reasonable too. We have always been satisfied with the work that has been done. i was recommended to Steve Joyce and his company by a friend. my ac went out over the weekend, so i called at 7am on monday morning. he advised he would probably be by my house by lunchtime. around 10:30a, he called me and texted me and was at my house by 11am. unfortunately, my dumb butt was out and missed him. while i was gone, he was nice enough to check the outside compressor unit and even cleaned it for me. i called back and he was incredibly gracious and was back at my house by 2:30p. i read the other reviewer's negative comments about how steve was an "asshole" when it looks like it was the reviewer who missed the appt, but i did not find this to be my experience at all! steve was nice, talkative, and very experienced. i even had a couple of neighbors come out and chat him up about their own ACs as he was working on mine. my service call was about fixing a freon leak, but i need to eventually have my old system replaced entirely. i will definitely be calling steve to do this for me when the time comes. read more
